Would you swallow an empty water balloon for your child?
This is the question of the day for me...
My daughter came in and asked me what would happen if someone was to swallow a balloon. I launched into the story about bowel obstructions and reminded her of how my friend's dad, who we knew, died from complications of a bowel obstruction.
As tears welled up in her eyes I realized that she herself had swallowed a tiny water balloon just minutes earlier and she was struck with fear and heading towards devastation.
I quickly had to start putting out this fire. I explained that what I had said was possible, but God made young bodies to be quite good at handling foreign objects and proceeded to re-tell her the story about how the handful of lite-brite pegs made it through her body into her diaper just fine some years earlier.
This seemed to quell her fears for about 2 and 1/2 minutes. Then she was back on my lap and in tears.

Here is a bit of sunshine to brighten your day. My daughter is wearing a new outfit that she just received from her grandma in the mail.
It has embroidered sunflowers along the jean leg and on the back pocket. The shirt has sunflowers designed on the fabric.

| Do You Like Paper Airplanes, Too? |

Remember that sunflower outfit that my girl received yesterday from her grandma? Well, as kids are, she has played more now with the wrapping paper that was wrapped around the outfit than has worn the outfit. She even carried the paper around with her for a whole day and brought it in the car with us to the grocery store. (I did make her leave it in the car.)
Finally, after tossing the paper up in the air and carrying it around on her head all this time, she asked me to fold it into a paper airplane for her. She is now a full-fledged lover of paper airplanes. She loves this thing! She has been flying it inside and outside non-stop since last night.
The paper itself is some really nice paper. The best way I can describe it is that it is like waxed tissue paper. And the folding design is nothing special. Just a bunch of folds, but this thing is pretty indestructible. Even with a crunched up nose it still flies far, smooth and straight.

MIDLAND, Texas, May 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- China Aid Association has learned that house church members Cui Chengnan and Liu Riguo in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province have filed an application for administrative reconsideration and demand that the Kunshan Municipal People's Government rule that the compulsory administrative measure taken by the respondent (Kunshan Municipal Public Security Bureau) is illegal and return all the items and the donated money confiscated during its raid on the house church.
The house was raided by 20-some policemen from Kunshan Municipal Public Security Bureau on April 29, 2007. | Tomorrow is Chicken Slaughtering/Butchering Day |

That's my big event for tomorrow. A few hours of slaughtering/butchering chickens with a group of friends in the great rural Kansas outdoors. It's a messy job, but we really enjoy the results. The chickens are usually around 4.5 lbs and until I butchered and ate my own chicken last year I never knew there was that much of a difference! (Because I am an ex-city kid and all.)
I am going tomorrow morning to buy myself my own knife. I have been told to get me about a 4" fish fillet knife. I used some good ones and some bad ones last time I butchered. It was hard using hand-me-down knives because I did not have my own, but I ended up using a decent one and got my job done just fine. I now know why people go and buy and bring their own knives. I know better this year.
My daughter is still too young to participate with us the cutting activities, but she was a super helper last year in that she would take the chickens off the table and drop them into the water buckets. She also liked ...

MIDLAND, Texas, May 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- China Aid Association has learned that on May 11, the PSB in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province returned all of the confiscated items to the two house churches. The PSB officers told the two church pastors Cui Chengnan and Liu Riguo that the increasing international pressure after CAA's report and the fear of negative impact of the foreign investment in that area made them do so. The PSB officers apologized to the church privately and even promised to reimburse the cost of the church pew and offering box which were ruined by the PSB during the raid.

Chicken Slaughtering/Butchering Day Went Great!
I am sunburned and exhausted, but other than that it was a blast as usual. The fun part is just talking with friends while working on a project for 3 hours. We could have been doing just about anything and we still would have had fun.
My daughter was watching the men take the chickens out of the coop and carry them to the crates. Next thing I knew she was carrying chickens to crates too, only two at a time! And, I got that on video!
After the chickens were bled and dunked in the scalding tank they were put into this thing called a Whizbanger. It has rubber finger-like things on the inside of it and the entire things spins around and the chickens get thrown inside and sprayed with a bit of water and they come out with all their feathers pulled off. It is fast and easy!

I just love rural Kansas.
I grew up in the desert repeating, surely, 100s of times, "It's a dry heat." Like, that makes 116 degrees easier to take or something. It was our standard comeback. It still feels like you are standing in front of a hair dryer... literally.
I had never really known how hot it felt until had been away from it and then I went back for a visit recently. I could not believe that I lived my whole life there in that kind of heat! Growing up there in the desert, you think, "What is wrong with these visitors and all their complaining?" Well, this time it was I that was doing the complaining. I discovered that I'll now take a little humidity and some mosquitoes any day over that "dry heat."
Yes, I have changed and become acclimated to the Kansas weather. I thought I was going to freeze to death when I first came out here, but now I can run around with a t-shirt on at 55 degrees like everyone else. A 55 degree day in the winter in K...

My daughter and her cousin ran around like the kids they are today at the Viking Valley kids playground (see picture above). They had a blast and were totally exhausted, just like I had intended for them to be. (grin) 7:30pm was the time we left for home and I had no idea it was so late! I thought it was like 6:30pm, but the sun is staying out later and it is throwing me all out of whack. Needless to say we were all ravenously hungry by the time we left and my daughter was filthy and crashed in bed after staying awake enough to take a shower.
Mission accomplished.
I just don't think kids get enough of those days. I think it is so good for them to just run out of energy and flop down into bed at night.
Anyway. That was our day. :)

MIDLAND, Texas, May 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- CAA has learned after intensive diplomacy and media pressure, the five detained house church leaders in Xinjiang were released. They were released ten days earlier than the official criminal detention intended. Two of them were released on May 17 and the other three were released in the evening of May 18, 2007(Beijing time). Credible sources say family members of the detained pastors were called by the local government official to pay 2000 Yuan ($250) for each detainee to the prison for their release because the "detainee were very ill." Today was an interesting day. First, I received an email from the company that I contract for saying that the other company that I was receiving calls for is pulling the plug on their work at home run; however, they wanted me to start working for another company doing the same thing. Sounds good. After a moment of panic, I went and accepted the offer and now I will start my 10-day training period for the new company on Monday-ish.
I am sooo not looking forward to the training. I just got to the point where I pretty much knew the ins and outs of my current company. Also, working for this new company includes sales. So, I will be doing activations, billing *and* sales. Blah. Oh, well. What am I gonna do? This is my only option and it will end up working out fine.
The hard part is not only do I have to learn an entirely new billing and activation system, I have to learn an entire product line as well as the features and capabilities of each product. Did I mention that I take calls fo...

Greetings all! I have been flat on my back for two days with food poisoning. I have not had a case of it since 1999 and I don't care to have it again for another 8 years. Praise the Lord I have my strength back and am rested and glad to be back among the world! I really took my health for granted and needed to be knocked out for a bit. I am so grateful to be able to function again! I feel great!
I have my strength back, but mostly I am grateful for the headache being gone. I don't care about throwing up. I actually like it, because at least for a little while there afterwards the headache goes away and I feel better, even if it is only for like 10 minutes. It still is a break from the torment of a food poisoning headache, which is kind of like a migraine, only I was actually able to fare better with light and sound.
I have not had a migraine since before I was pregnant. I used to have them regularly and sometimes if I did not catch one in time it would go on for 48 hours and I wo...
