Thomas Doyle
2008-05-09 14:38:00
I can not get enough of Thomas Doyle's work. The Brooklyn based artist uses model train miniatures and scenery to create to tell very compelling stories on a very small scale. Each piece is extremely detailed and very well laid out, so that his pieces evoke the most genuine responses from their viewers. They are all just spectacular, and can someone please tell Thomas Doyle to add more to his sketchbook section of his site, that has to be my favorite part. I don't know why but I could look at the processes an artist goes through to create his work all day long. The artist statement below and a link to his site under that, get over to his site the work displayed there is not to be missed. My work mines the debris of memory through the creation of intricate worlds sculpted in 1:43...

A few pics of Armsrock preparing his installation that will be on display for the 2-man show with D*Face entitled, "RockFace D'Arm". Their show opens this Thursday, May 8th from 7-9:30pm at the Fifty24SF Gallery in San Francisco.Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Armsrock currently lives and works in Bremen, Germany. Living in a smaller city provides him with a solid platform from which to operate with focus. His main source of inspiration for his work is from the streets. It's there that he retrieves the moments that he interprets into his drawings that deal with urban stories, the nature of life, and interaction between humans. Armsrock has shown extensively in Germany and Denmark and nationally with shows in New York. His work has been published by Wooster Collective in the 2007 book release, "All My Friends Are Made of Paper", that featured an introduction by Swoon. Also here is a short video for the show.

"My New Friend""Two Buttons Memories"Ric Stultz's work is so much fun, I wish I could have a giant dinosaur as a friend. Well maybe not we all remember what happened in Jurassic park when they tried to keep dinosaurs yeah everyone died, so a dinosaur as a pet may not be the best option. I guess I'll just stick with my dog and cats. Have fun checking out the rest of Ric Stultz's work, I would definitely go and check out the sketchbook portion of his site it gives a nice insight into the creative process.ric stultz

"See your world in a new light."I really like these ads for Earth hour from the advertising agency Leo Burnett out of Sydney, Australia and art director Nils Eberhardt, simple yet very effective ads. Earth Hour is an annual international event created by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. It was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Yogurt Spoon
2008-05-06 13:47:00
Love this design from Nojae Park, whenever I have my a snack pack I can never get all of the pudding out, it is such a shame. This would solve my problem completely and I could get every last bit of the pudding out. Finally a spoon that will satisfy those of us that can never get enough. No more embarrassing caught in the act moments of sticking your tongue in your pudding or yogurt container to get that last remaining bit of delight cowering at the bottom of the inconveniently shaped containers. This new “Yogurt Spoon” is the ultimate tool for savoring those last moments. I once witnessed a man scrapping his yogurt bottom with a pencil… I nearly cried at the realization that if no one was around, I might done the exact same thing.via yanko

Emoe Garden Shower
2008-05-06 13:43:00
The Emoe garden shower certainly has nothing emo about it, and would definitely fit in your pad perfectly if you happen to have an outdoor swimming pool as well. It is a green product as it uses a cylindrical sensor to accumulate heat from sunlight to let the water within reach its desired temperature. The Emoe garden shower comes with a reservoir of 25 liters, which ought to be more than enough for a family of four to enjoy consecutive showers without shivering out in the open, unless you're one who spends at least an hour in the shower per session.via ubergizmo

Lois Ruben Aronow
2008-05-06 13:26:00
I am absolutely loving these hand thrown porcelain pieces by Brooklyn based designer/artist Lois Ruben Aronow. A bit about the artist below and the link under that.Lois attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts as a Radio & TV major. Persuing her love of Radio, she began a career that extended into music television programming, and a long stint at VH-1. Although she always had a knack (ok, an obsession) for "making things", it was during this time she discovered pottery.Moving to London for business, Lois found herself surrounded by a rich history in pottery and tableware design. "The British have a rich history in Ceramics and really do consider it a fine art. I found myself constantly exposed to wonderful antique and contemporary work. I fell head over heels in love."Lois’ ta...

The one pictured above was the winner, by a designer out of Southern California named Soyun. I would really like to see this one used as the actual torch at some point in time it would be really cool. This torch was designed with the host city of Mumbai, India in mind.Text from image:This torch carries the history and culture of the host city Mumbai and the heart and emotion of India. | Ballpark Pens |
2008-05-05 14:39:00
With most old stadiums either being redone or knocked down to make a place for a brand spanking new multi-million dollar stadium, these Ballpark pens are a great way to get your hands on a small bit of history. Barrels and disc at top are made from wooden seats from historic stadiums. Pens ship with capless rollerball refill but can also use Parker style ballpoints. The pens are laser engraved with the name of the ballpark and years in existence. Top, clip and nose all rhodium plated. No two pens are exactly the same due to age, type of wood and the direction of the wood grain. Prices vary depending on stadium due to collector's prices for seats. Right now you have six different stadiums to choose from and the prices depend on which one you choose, with the most expensive being $250 for Fenway Park. A very cool way to have a small piece of the team you love with you forever.ballpark pensvia luxist

Yoskay Yamamoto
2008-05-04 22:35:00
Very nice work from artist and illustrator Yoskay Yamamoto. Born and raised in Toba, Japan, Yoskay Yamamoto moved to the United States at the age of 15. A self-trained illustrator, Yamamotoís artistic tastes expanded as he fell in love with the urban culture of the West coast. Yamamoto discovered a way to fuse the two different cultural backgrounds together into his work. Yamamoto nostalgically blends pop iconic characters from his new Western home with traditional and mythical Japanese elements, balancing his Asian heritage with urban pop art. Check out the rest of his work at his website linked below, there is a bunch it may take you a few minutes to get through it all. yoskay

Strong, powerful, compelling, Sweetworld has animated a new spot for Amnesty International. A little bit about Rick Ivery below and a link to the $4500 steel bean bag chair below that, yeah thats right $4500.After graduating from Advertising at Sheridan College in 1998, Rick Ivey returned to study Furniture Design in Sheridan’s school of Crafts and Design in 2002. He believes that in creating an object, whether for a purely sculptural or functional purpose, the most important thing is the relationship between the piece and the viewer. He strives to push both the limits of his chosen materials and his ability to manipulate them, in an attempt to better understand form and function in design. This activity allows him to c...
