Chartered Semiconductor (CHRT.O): Buy: Limited Near Term Catalysts but 2H07 Growth Remains Intact. Share price performance – Upbeat 1Q07 guidance and wider outsourcing opportunities drove CHRT's YTD share price to outperform regional foundries. AMD's wafer cuts in 2Q07, however, suggest limited nearterm price appreciation, in our view. While TSMC should benefit from a utilisation pick up in 2Q07 on the back of an industry recovery, CHRT's prospects are weaker, although we believe they are poised to recover in the latter part of the year.   https://www.citigroupgeo.com/pdf/SAP04136.pdf  ...

While the ST index has broken past previous highs most stocks have not. In this report, we feature some stocks which still look relatively attractive from a risk/ reward basis.Stocks.1. China Energy- The stock has corrected from a high of $1.47 to a low of $0.96 in the earlier correction. It has since rebounded towards  $1.22. Price action  shows a sideway consolidation between $1.22-1.17. We believe this a continuation pattern and the stock could head up towards $1.35-1.40 over a 1-2 period. Note that volume has also improved in yesterday's trading session. Recommend a buy on the stock at $1.18-1.19.2. SGX- In February, the stock rallied to a high of $7.65 and from that level, it corrected to a low of $5.80. As at yesterday's close of $6.90, the stock had rebounded 62% of the de...

Property (REITs)
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Highest Yields From Industrial Segment Recent price movements warrant a relook at REITs. A comparison of yield spreads of the office, retail and industrial segment shows that relative attractiveness of the some of the REITs have shifted. The best average yields lie with the industrials.   Office and retail yields driven down. Interests in the office and retail REITs on the back of strong demand in the segment have kept the yields relatively lower. Yield spreads with the 3-mth interbank rates are at a level of 0.13% and 0.28% respectively. For the two segments, it is a case of catching up with the possibility of further rental reversions and asset enhancements for yield improvements. Since the release of the last report, changes to the price movements have surfaced some interesting REITs which were less attractive before. Macquarie Meag Prime REIT (MMP) emerged, stretching to the top end with a yield of 4.87%. Although Allco Commercial REIT (Allco) appears to look attractive with t...

Further insights to the URA’s 1Q flash estimates According to flash estimates released by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) recently, private home prices rose from 130.2 points in 4Q06 to 136.2 points in 1Q07, an increase of 4.6% qoq. Further to this, we did a more detailed analysis of the underlying price trends using available market information. Our analysis reveals the following:   High-end residential market outperforms the mass market. The price index for the core Central region, which is a proxy for the high-end residential market outperformed the mass market from 1Q04 level by a margin of 23.9%   Foreign interest and designer homes drive high-end residential sector. High levels of foreign interest and the growing affluence of Singaporeans are key catalysts for the high-end residential market. We are also seeing a growing trend of designer condominiums created by world class architects, which is supportive of record high prices seen in some of the latest t...

AusGroup
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Wins A$26m contract for offshore gas platform.   AusGroup has secured an A$26-28m contract to build an unmanned gas platform for an unnamed customer, which is supposed to be one of Europe’s biggest oilfield service companies by market capitalisation. We suspect that this customer is ENI, and that the platform is for the Blacktip gas development. The work on the platform includes the jacket, topside modules and the piles. The platform will be connected to an onshore gas plant via an 18” subsea pipeline 108km long. We believe that this will be the start of some very exciting news flow for AusGroup in the coming months. As reported earlier, out of 16 of the major Asia-Pacific offshore projects planned till 2015, 10 will be in Australia. The Blacktip development is one of the first of these projects to be underway.   Expect strong demand for oil and gas projects in Australia. Given the large number of offshore developments in Ausgralia, we expect AusGroup to benefit fro...
