do the ad’s deafen your dog?
2008-05-12 12:57:20
Many a commercial break is preceded by a nervous anticipation for that irritating hike in the volume, especially if the kids are in bed or the walls are thin and the neighbours are sensitive.... This clarifies existing guidelines and encourages broadcasters to use a subjective loudness meter in order to ensure there is less of a perceived imbalance between ad and programme sound levels.... So when a loud advert (or a programme trailer - a source of complaints among the hard of hearing to the BBC) comes on unexpectedly, the low-pitched sounds in the commercial, usually the music, are amplified and distorted.... A spokeswoman for ITV says this change in the quality of the audio means the adverts are not actually louder, although they may appear to be, and the broadcaster fully complies wi...

2008-04-18 07:30:29
We've always been interested in adverts that for whatever reason didn't make it to the screen.... the ad sucked, consumers hated the finished article, the ad didn't make sense, the producer was laughed out of the clients office, the advert scared viewers, it was rude or they were just in bad taste! Any way, here is a great selection for your viewing pleasure... if you know of a good one we've missed then let us know!... Skittles Stupid Doughboy Took Milk Advert Geico Caveman Commercial - Deleted Version (Final version used Royskopp track "remind me" Ridiculous Metro Pope Bobblehead Ad Absolutely rubbish deleted Car Commercial - tried to be a practical joke but just ends up weird!...

on-line advertising - the only way to go
2008-04-08 11:51:00
Online advertising grew 38% in 2007 to be worth £2.8bn ($5.5bn), taking its market share to 15.3%, up from 11.4% in 2006, the report showed.... "It's clear marketing directors now recognise the value of online to drive their business and more and more are using rich media and video to build their brands, just as they do on TV," he added. The growing influence of social networking websites, the introduction of cheap laptops and catch-up TV, like that offered by the BBC iPlayer, were also key drivers of the internet advertising boom in Britain, the report suggested.... "Brands are now using search more intelligently, getting a greater return on investment through 'key phrases' and more accurate targeting that reflects consumer behaviour," the report...

politics – 10 most controversial usa adverts
2008-04-01 03:23:40
The Willie Horton Ad In what some call the dirtiest campaign ever run, the most memorable of the nasty shots in 1988 was taken by George 'Kindler, Gentler' Bush Sr. at Michael Dukakis when this campaign commercial basically blamed him for rapes and murders committed by furloughed prisoners when Dukakis was Governor of Massachusetts.... Mike Gravel's Bizzare Ad Controversial in the sense that NOBODY had any idea what it was about, this commercial-cum-art piece for 2008 Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Gravel, which had him staring into the camera, throwing a rock in a pond and then walking away (for a long time), is a classic bit of anti-politics and certainly the most Dadaist campaign ad you will ever see.... This Ronald Reagan ad from 1984 was c...

full-length programs on-line a hit in uk and us
2008-03-13 15:40:27
Since BBC’s iPlayer launched on Christmas Day, 17 million Internet users streamed or downloaded full-length programs—leaving rival ITV’s broadband TV offering far behind.
The same trend is occurring in the US. Surveys there show that consumers prefer to watch programming online that is produced by professional TV networks and film studios....

so you wanna work in the movies?
2008-03-09 16:14:56
The jobs here are The Production Designer (chief Honcho), then Art Directors (they draw up the plans that he or she has visualised), Construction Managers who supervise the building of sets, Buyers who drive about renting or buying the props, then Propmen who actually control the props on set. This is the only Art Department On Set job, apart from someone called the Standby Painter.... If you're a good Artist, you’d be better off aiming to be a Scenic Artist who paints the backdrops that are used outside windows etc. It's quite a lonely job because you're not part of the Crew, but at least you get to paint some Really Big Pictures!
...If you survive a couple of years of this, you get to be a Third which involves trying to get the actors out of their trailers which can take considerable skill, then a Second which means you get more involved with the schedule and spend more time on set, covering for the First when he/she has to go to the Dentist etc. The First Assistant Director is pro...
