Bioengineered Pets - WTF!!?
2008-07-17 06:31:58
I had a hard time figuring out whether this is a joke or real. But unfortunately seems to be real!!I have to admit, it's kind of cool to have a rather strange pet, but still the idea of playing with nature like this as well as putting a living "thing" in a retail box is very disturbing and bothers the hell out of me!If we're going to have bioengineered pets on the store shelves soon, it's not hard to imagine ending up having an Incredible Hulk on the streets in the future. The new Hulk is a nice movie by the way, worth watching. What do you guys and gals think? Would you buy a pet like this for yourself or your children?Check it out for yourself:Bioengineered Buddies

My TOP Firefox Add-Ons
2008-07-12 07:47:05
There are a few Firefox Add-Ons that I can't live without, Here's my short list (IE the absolute essentials. Obviously, I have lots more, but I can give or take them):AdBlock Plus - This is the one everybody in the world has. Websites look SO much different when I see them with the actual ads on them now (ie at a friends house w/ only internet explorer)Repagination - Loads all pages in a list on a single page... So when I'm browsing the books at gigapedia.org, I can load 20+ pages onto 1, and scroll right through 300-500 books without having to reload a page. Huge timesaver. (For Firefox 3, get the Non-Official version here > Repagination Firefox 3)FireFTP right in the browser - no more wasted effort or time trying to look for FTP software and no need ...

Article Marketing Secrets
2008-07-09 06:02:46
The first key to successful article marketing:The title of the articleThis is critical, as it sets the stage for your article body and the mindset for the reader to visit the link in your resource box. Critical items to pay attention to in the title...It has to grab the reader's attention. Tips here include using the words "How To", or numbered list titles including "3 Ways To..." or "5 Critical Ideas Surrounding..." etc...Your article has to be interesting. Contrary to what is out there on the internet, you must write interesting and engaging content...period. It cannot just be an accumulation of words that mean nothing except to Google. You are writing to people. That is the key to keep in mind. You are working ...

If you go to your Google AdWords keyword tool and search for keywords, you'll notice that google has (at last) given out how many searches are done in a month for a given keyword.I have been using the Traffic Estimator to get the same data for a while now....but using the keyword tool is much more convenient. Here's how to get the most out of it.

Ultracart KILLS 1ShoppingCart
2008-07-07 08:53:16
I have done EXTENSIVE research into different carts and have found Ultracart to be the big winner for a number of reasons listed below so I decided to share it with all, because all the gurus push 1ShoppingCart as they have affiliate deals with them, but in comparison it sucks!!Ultracart beats 1ShoppingCart on so many levels it's crazy. Here are the major reasons why Ultracart is better (and no i am not affiliated with them or anything i just think they have an amazing product)Scripts and embed tags on the checkout page!!!!! you can add video, or popups, or countdowntimers, or audio testemonials, or anything else you want to your checkout page! IF you dont realize how huge this is you need to read more!No easy cancel! they have a feature named this which specificaly allows you to turn off ...

Efficient and profitable niche market research
2008-07-03 21:37:30
After months of floundering around guessing what markets I should go after with all of the many marketing strategies, here is what i came up with:- Ask.com: use their "narrow your search" function and "expand your search" to see related words and phrases that people are searching for.- Yahoo answers: use it to find out exactly what people's pain points and problems are within your niche.- Google news: use it to find out what are the latest happenings in your industry and what people are talking about right now- Ezinearticles: use it to get inspired on what current content is out there right now for ideas on what to put in yours- Google : use it to see the type of sites that are ranking and what kind of content they have to...

Easy, No Effort Way to Achieve Your Dreams
2008-07-03 20:42:59
I'll be sharing this one in my speaking life, but wanted to give it to you first. This is NOT easy. Frankly, it's mentally exhausting. But I think it's one of the most useful ideas/strategies that I've put to use over the past couple of years.Okay, so enough with the prelim warnings. Let's get to it.Right now, I've got a LOT of stuff on my plate... At least 4 separate businesses that are all coming together at once, and with work I'm responsible for in each business. It's hard to find time to focus on the development of any one business without getting distracted with another, as well as keep up my habit of learning new material, exercising and teaching Jiu-Jitsu. But, I know how important it is to give focused, directed thought to each business, so....Today, instead of putting on sp...

Guide to Build a Successful Business
2008-07-02 06:10:07
'Systematizing' the online business process is an area I've been struggling with for a little while now. While novices to IM(Internet Marketing) tend to feel swamped by the range of tactics and techniques available, more experienced IMers are merely buried in the ideas and knowledge they've gained (which in my case just swirls around in my head all the time!). Neither feels especially 'free' of worry or stress! Whatever stage you're at, finding ways to simplify the process is a major step in creating personal freedom. It would make a good subject for the group to discuss and develop. Many guru's split the process into four stages - IDENTIFY YOUR MARKET, DEVELOP YOUR PRODUCT, BUILD YOUR LIST, PROMOTE YOUR OFFER and although there are clearly alternative st...

Recommendation for keeping notes: Evernote
2008-07-01 14:40:31
I just found (was probably the last one to find) a really useful product called Evernote.Evernote is a product that allows you to store notes in 'the cloud', accessing them with desktop apps on both mac and windows, over the web with an iphone interface and with a windows mobile app, and there's a native iphone app in the works. Now, whenever I take notes, I can access them from anywhere. I can take new notes on the phone, or on my laptop, or on one of the other PC's, and they'll be accessible from all the others. I can tag my notes and categorise my notes. It has a bookmarklet thing that enables me to clip notes from within firefox and from outlook on the PC, and from anywhere - if I'm on my mac laptop I can just do a different kind of 'paste' instead of the regular one and whatever was on the clipboard gets put through to a note.I can really recommend this.

Useful Negotiation Strategies
2008-06-30 02:02:01
Rule#1 Always Go Into Negotiation With Power. This means that you have valuable information which that company/individual wants. It also means that they might attempt to de-value your skills or services. They do this by asking very forward questions.Examples:Why should we pay you those fees? Why should we believe you?If you screw up, do you have insurance? You don’t have an advanced Ph.D. What makes your opinion valuable? These questions, while very legitimate can put off many, many otherwise secure and confident people. Just like the Merovingian in Matrix Reloaded, take his advice: Know the ‘WHY’.Rule#2 They’ll Ask For The Song, A Dance, Candy And Flowers Too!Don’t fight it. You’re building a relationship whether you like to or not. Do something different. Remove the ‘office set...

eBay Upsell Tactics
2008-06-25 21:34:49
My TOP 7 tactics to up-sell customers or to sell them a different item.. that are within the eBay rules. Here's what I use/have seen being used:1) Listing a popular product using a premium listing package (looks like alot of sellers actually do this and list at a loss to gain hits), and then in the listing link through to high profit items in a store.2) Listing an item and give progressive bonuses (if the $$ amount hits this point, this bonus will be given.. this point another bonus.. etc - no idea if this is actually permitted, but I have seen it.)3) Sending out emails at auction close, payment, shipping, and after receiving that plug high profit items.4) Bundling a popular item with highly profitable ones and charging mo...

Master tips to profit on Ebay
2008-06-25 20:11:14
The following is an update to my previous post: "How i profit on Ebay"1. Ebay's new rules don't seem to prevent you from bundling an ebook in with a 'hard' product. Offering a free ebook on a related subject helps differentiate you and can be the difference between winning the sale and losing it to a competitor. This is especially true when prices are identical and margins are tight.2. The upsell is in the niche. Setting up niche stores is THE way to profit in a competitive market. Buyers will always prefer to buy from a niche store that looks well populated and run by experts or enthusiasts in their field. In fact many customers will pay more for the same product for the same reasons. Both the store and the listings have to...

I was searching for an alternative to BANS, something that was more of a store to use under mydomain.com/store and put BANS under mydomain.com/auction and found this site.Popshops.comIts set up so you can choose millions of products from all the major affiliate programs and list them as a store. They have free, $5, $30 and $60 versions. The $30 version has all the features most would need. Here is a demo shop that has 2100 pages indexed (you design your own template and include the product listings with javascript or php)If the 3 year old can do it why can't we right? The only other service I know of like this is Datafeedr and it's $97 a month.IMO datafeedr looks better than Popshops....I like how it intergrates into your blog better by just one file. But on the down side the $97 a month is...

The value of getting listed in DMOZ
2008-06-23 03:11:21
Dmoz never indexed sites, never has or will - it's not a search engine - it's a human edited directory which you have to submit to for inclusion. It's extremely difficult to get in but it isn't essential to have a listing there to achieve good rankings. However, a DMOZ listing will help your search engine rankings. Google is known to apply a higher weighting score to links given from Dmoz because it can indicate the usefulness of the site to the web as a whole (in theory).Personally I think the quality of the site's listed on Dmoz are questionable. There's a mix of okay and terrible. It was much easier to get in 8, 9, 10 years ago when it was young than it is now, so if you managed to get your mediocre site listed in 1999 and you haven't let the domain expire you're laughing. There are site's...

So we're BASHED over the head with the need for a headline. In EVERYTHING. No Exception. Here's the kicker though... Logically, it's just not a good idea when you're trying to get somebody to take you seriously. I mean, really, if you're writing to the VP Operations at a $10M/year company, you probably dont' want to have "Who else wants to solve their bottleneck problem with no effort?" at the top of the page.Reading through the section on "building a virtual relationship" in "Counterintuitive selling", there was a fantastic idea.Pick a quote from an industry journal, interview, or otherwise relevant source to put at the top of the letter.EG:"...whether you debate the semantics or even decry the conceptitself, the bottom line is that human capital managementwill have a huge impact on, we...

Don't click this or....
2008-06-13 07:54:21
So, you clicked it, eh?Have you ever come up with a headline like this:"DON'T CLICK THIS"It's one tactic in the process called 'reverse psychology' or what the ad men would call 'reactance advertising'. This is, in effect, creating an emotional response against ad by imposing an implied restriction, like a child that's been told 'not to touch the valuables', and immediately wants to do so!Part of the effect is curiosity and the implication of scarcity, but the core reaction is 'why shouldn't I?' By creating a preceived restriction or limit, you challenge the reader's freedom and incite him/her to prove you wrong. The big problem is that the follow through needs to build on the initial reaction. Some cheesy 'ahh fooled you' type landing page will simply create resentment. The restriction nee...

How To Have Your Best Year Ever

These are my full notes from the 5 hour seminar "How To Have Your Best Year Ever" by Jim RohnChapter #1 - The Life PuzzleTime is more valuable than Money. You can get more Money but unfortunately you cannot get more Time.Things dont just happen. Things happen just.Ideas can be life changing, sometimes all you need is one more, in a series of ideas. It's like dialing the numbers into the lock. You need all ideas."There was a sermon, preaching a sincere and honest presentation to a multitude of people. After the presentation there was a variety of reactions from the people. Some were perplexed, but I thought the presentation was pretty straight forward so I thought "they must be the perplexed people!". Others were mocking and laughing at the preaching, and I used to think "you shouldn't mock ...

3 Truths About E-book Publishing
2008-06-09 02:41:31
The REAL harsh truths about e-book publishing.1. Whatever people say, whatever you read - e-books are NOT easy to write. There are no 'quick' ebooks that took hours to write and sell like hotcakes - at least not over any lengthy period of time. The volume, price and lifetime you can expect from any product is proportional to the quality and effort you've put in to creating it.2. Whatever people say, whatever you read - selling e-books online is NOT easy. It doesn't matter how good your site is, or your sales copy, or your giveaway, or how many gurus you may be in touch with, e-books sell because YOU, the publisher, put effort into promoting, marketing and supporting your product. If you think you can publish then walk aw...

The Accumulation of Riches
2008-06-06 09:43:10
Riches are the organized effort of expanding company service/value fueled by profit (monetary and non-monetary) to team members, customers, and suppliers. The company generating money and profit (it's profit getting) exists to sustain, develop and reproduce more expanding service value to the customer, team members, and suppliers who are organized towards the same chief aim and thus profit from it. As it is in biology, so it is with business. The business exists to expand - not contract. Its chief purpose is expanding life, as is with the human. Maintenance is a given. Without maintenance, decline begins. But it is with the other functions in biology of DEVELOPMENT and EXPANSION that the core importance of business delivering value and service in all of its delivery and communication mecha...

My concept of the evolution of money making opportunities
2008-06-04 05:46:19
1. Opportunity is found and exploited.2. Profits decline due to competition or other factors. High end "how to" courses are developed and sold with the representation of profits at level 1.3. Profits from 2 begin to decline due to competition. Cheaper and cheaper "how to" are available ending with cheap ebooks on eBay (before they were banned).4. Occasionally the niche is such that a course is developed to teach others how to make money by teaching others how to make money by teaching others in the niche.Examples: Adwords, General IM, Affiliate marketing. It works this way for non-internet stuff too i.e. Real Estate.Having said that, people are still (pre-crash) making money in Real Estate, for example, even with tons more people chasing deals as a result o...

When I tell people I'm a marketing consultant I usually get one of two responses:1. What the hell does a marketing consultant do?2. How the hell do you get customers to work with you?One of the things I've found over the years is that most people have very mixed ideas about what a 'marketing consultant' is or does. You see, being a consultant is really about giving companies an independent viewpoint - an objective view of the business, along with ideas and strategies for improvement. There's nothing terribly magical about this - the real skill is in being able to assess a business, from the 'big picture' of what they are trying to achieve right down to the 'nuts and bolts' of who is doing what on a day to day basis. However, many business people have a jaded view - they tend to equate 'con...

2008-05-30 08:10:01
Web semantic is heavily related to Trustrank now...the more trust juice you can direct to your site - the better response you can get. Of course the whole campaign of link building must "seem natural" if you want to be a consistent performer for the adwords competitive keyword phrases - surely Google treats them differently than the non competitve keyword phrases.Although No-Follow tags are not so important in terms of pagerank evaluation or anchor text votes, some of them are surely one of the heaviest links you can ever get. Try getting your site in a wikipedia page - you will see what im trying to say here. And Google might not take the no-follow into account (thats what they say) - but im 103% sure they monitor them all around. No-follow tags IMHO are one of the biggest proofs that the...

How I Profit On eBay

I've been selling items on eBay for about a year, slowly building a business. When I started out, I thought price was everything.. and was looking for those "miracle" sources online... well they don't exist. Perhaps at tradeshows and through trade magazines, but I haven't gone through that yet.The fact of the matter is, if you are drop shipping or buying in light bulk wholesale then your profit margin will be small.. but it is possible to make a profit -- in the upsell. People will pay a premium and give you an ok margin (considering your risk is nill with dropshipping) in the upsell. You need to be selling products that are either little known, or creating unique product bundles. I don't worry about what Amazon.com or oth...
