Al Gore’s New Book: The Assault on Reason
2007-05-20 22:00:07
Al Gore’s new book The Assault on Reason examines the Western political landscape and its inability to collaborate and to solve global problems. According to the Washington Post, the book’s editor, Scott Moyers, describes the book to be about how “the public arena has grown more hostile to reason,” and how solving problems such as global warming is impeded by a political culture with a pervasive “unwillingness to let facts drive decisions.” It looks like it will be a thoughtful and provocative piece that will raise a lot of questions, about combating climate change and governmental policies, from America’s favorite losing politician. The Assault on Reason will be released May 22, 2007. 2007-05-20 19:00:39

A Solar Powered Tent!
2007-05-20 18:00:19
Eureka! has produced a tent which gets charged up on sun! It comes with an LED unit you place on the outside during the day for 8 hours, and it will provide you with 8 hours of light at night. This idea seems like a good one, but there are lots of solar powered head lamps and lanterns that could provide the same amount of light at night. Also, keeping nylon tents in the direct sun all day can weaken the material. However, if you are they type to forget things when you camp, having a built in light supply means there’s one less thing you’ll be likely to forget. Unless you forget the tent! This model sleeps 5-6 and costs $229.95. Interested, or just want to find out more? Formula One to use Bio Fuels in 2011
2007-05-20 12:00:53
The Formula One bosses have decided that by the beginning of the 2011 season, all of the cars competing in the world championship will be powered by a 2.2 liter V6 turbo charged engine that will run on bio fuel. Bio fuels are already being used in motor sport, by Audi and Peugeot in their LeMans series cars, and have done very well on it, but Formula One cars running diesel engines, it just doesn’t sound right, after all would this mean the introduction of diesel powered high performance cars such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin? If they manage to pull this off, then this will certainly add some serious creditability for the future use of Bio Fuels as a long term viable replacement for gasoline in all types of vehicle. Recycle your jeans and get a pair of sandals
2007-05-20 11:00:42
There must be thousands of pairs of jeans around that are no longer worn for some reason or other, maybe they are old fashioned, worn our or just don’t fit anymore, so apart from throwing them away, what else can you do with them? If you live in the UK, you can send your unwanted jeans to a company called Recycle Your Jeans and in return they will send you back their product, which is a pair of sandals made from the denim of other peoples old jeans. A few little facts of interest: Recycling textiles saves on pesticides, fertilizers, processing chemicals and energy. If every person in the UK used one item of recycled clothing per year, the amount of processing water saved would fill an average UK reservoir. Our Kalahari sandals have the lowest transport footprint of any sandal on the market because they are made in the UK, not 5,000 miles away as 99% of the footwear on sale in the UK is. 5 Not-So-Green Cities
2007-05-20 01:00:12
To finish off his great multi-part article, Jacob Gordon decided to leave us on a less positive note. It just goes to show, that as great as things are going, there is always more to be done! So, if you live in one of these cities — or even if you don’t — hat are you waiting for? There’s an environment out there to save! Cities That Need Saving #5: Columbus Poor air and water quality, along with a prominent fast-food industry can’t help this city. #4: Dallas Lack of public transit users and saturated highways leave Dallas’ air smoggy and unwlecoming. #3: Detroit Anyone really surprised about this? Being the capital of auto-makers make this city more gray than green. #2: Houston Houston is another city that falls victim to congested highways and no one on the subway. #1: Indianapolis There doesn’t seem to be an active green movement here. If no one wants change, how can it happen? To read up more about these cities — don’t worry, Go...
