| I Met The Walrus - Watch the Oscar Nominated Short Film |

The multi-award winning "I Met The Walrus" Film">short film is based on a real life encounter between John Lennon and a 14 year old fan at Toronto’s King Edward Hotel in 1969. Lennon graciously allowed Jerry Levitan, the young fan, to conduct an impromptu interview, which he (Jerry) recorded with the aid of a reel-to-reel tape deck.
The 40 minute interview was edited and condensed into a pithy 5 minute animated film in 2007 by Josh Raskin. Raskin combined the original audio recording with the computer illustrations of James Braithwaite and the hand drawn sketches of Alex Kurina to create a truly inspiring work of art.
Raskin says,
I just wanted to literally animate the words, unfurling in the way I imagined they would appear inside the head of a baffled 14-year-old boy interviewing his idol.
I Met The Walrus is an official nominee at the 2008 Academy Awards in the "Best Animated Short Film" Category.

The Marvel Super Heroes was an animated cartoon series, first broadcast on U.S. television in the 1960s.
The low budget series used the technique of xerography; a process that involved the use of photocopied images from comic books, which were then manipulated to animate the characters.
The program had five segments, and each one featured the adventures of a popular Marvel superhero. Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, The Invincible Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, and Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner were the characters showcased by the show.
After searching around a bit, I was able to find the theme songs for all the superheroes on the show. Some of them are quite campy, but still great fun to watch.

This is a yummy slice of tech history. Back in 2006, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey sketched this conceptual, um, sketch of Twitter’s original UI on a notepad.

The 6th year; the idea has finally solidified (thanks to the massively creative environment my employer Odeo provides) and taken a novel form. We’re calling it twttr (though this original rendering calls it stat.us; I love the word.ed domains, e.g. gu.st). It’s evolved a lot in the past few months. From an excited discussion and persuasion on the South Park playground to a recently approved application for a SMS shortcode. I’m happy this idea has taken root; I hope it thrives.
Twitter has grown and thrived beyond its creator’s original estimates, which, paradoxically, is proving not to be such a great thing for the service.

The animated, Direct-to-DVD Batman: Gotham Knight is a series of six animated tales set between the events of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Completely dark and somber in tone, the films in the series were written by some talented, award winning writers like Alan Burnett and Josh Olson (of A History of Violence fame). And as with the very brilliant Animatrix, the films were all created by top Japanese Anime artists and directors.
The animated anthology is a rare specimen in the DC universe, as it’s to be released under a PG-13 rating in the U.S. and a 15 rating certificate in the United Kingdom on July 8.

With over 2 million views (and counting) on various video sharing sites, “Where in the Hell is Matt ?” is the most popular viral video of the moment.
Matt, a self-confessed “deadbeat from Connecticut”, shot the feel-good video in over 42 countries, with a cast running into the thousands. The sense of joie de vivre exuded by ordinary folk in the video is quite palpable and infectious.
The lyrics of the song “Praan” accompanying the video, were adapted from the poem “Stream of Life” by Rabindranath Tagore, Asia’s first Nobel Laureate.

The ship breaking yards in Alang, India, and in Chittagong, Bangladesh, are where more than half of the world’s old ships, oil tankers and ocean liners go to be beached like huge whales, stripped, cut into pieces, and cannibalized for iron and steel to be used in building new ships.
These hell holes are not just a killing ground for old vessels; thousands of hapless, but able-bodied young men have lost their lives doing back-breaking work in one of most hazardous working conditions in the world. Not only do they have to work without any basic safety equipment, they have to also endure prolonged exposure to toxic chemicals and waste matter during the course of work. Lung cancer and asbestosis is quite common among these poor souls.

| Astro Boy Mural Made From Recycled Train Tickets |

An intricate and massive mural featuring the iconic Astro Boy was created using over 138,000 used metro train tickets to commemorate the opening of the Fukutoshin subway line in Tokyo.
The 10 x 7 ft. mural, currently on display at the Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store, also depicts other famous characters from the manga/anime like Professor Ochanomizu, Uran and Higeoyaji, along with the Fukutoshin train .

I’m not sure if this is real, but it’s quite interesting nevertheless.
A hen laid this egg in Zaozhuang City, China, which, astonishingly, resembles planet Earth, complete with all the continents and oceans.

Set in a grim and dystopian version of the near future, Death Race is the remake of the cult 1975 film Death Race 2000. Surprisingly, Tom Cruise’s Cruise/Wagner Productions is the production company of the upcoming film.
Jason Statham is cast in the role of the protagonist who is forced to race to stay out of a hellish prison.
Statham has made a career out of playing an expert car driver in B-grade films such as the Transporter series and The Italian Job. This makes him the ideal, if not so very surprising choice for the role.
The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the director of the Resident Evil film series and the extremely horrendous DOA: Dead or Alive movie.
