Done! Tulip Brooch
2008-06-09 04:30:02
This brooch took the longest time to make. The frame for this brooch was shown in my previous post here, picture right at the bottom. This is a custom made piece. The design for this piece was sketched by the customer so most of the time was spent figuring out how to wire wrap the design so that they flow and it does not look like a bunch of wire wrapped together. For the petals and stem, I used 20ga wire while the wrapping is with 28ga stainless steel wire. As for the pin, I used 20ga hard stainless steel wire. The "springy" wire makes it more suitable as pin but it is really tough to bend it.Wrapped the five petals with 4mm swarovski crystal near the top to hold the focal beads in place. This Brooch measures about 5cm from top to bottom. ...

For pin, I used 20ga hard stainless steel wire as it is springy although a bit hard to bend :)This will be for my personal collection to match the blouse that it have...hehe! ...

The color is sooooooo nice and so "me".....Although I am not a very sparkly person myself (personal preference), these two pieces are an exception....But what to do, these are commissioned pieces. Out to the new owner.Oh ya! I used gold filled wire and 6mm faceted donut swarovski crystals for these two pretties. ...

Testimonial
2008-05-17 05:20:30
The best thing to hear after a day of work (yeah! I have to work this weekend) is a very positive comment from someone who purchased my Sparkly Ring Tutorial. Here's what she has to say. This really made my day.....:) Dear Mei,I have been having so much fun making rings using your tutorial! Thank you so much for creating it.I have to say, I am so pleased with how professional the tutorial looks and how incredibly clear the directions and pictures are. I love that I ended up with great looking results from the first ring. Plus it has inspired me to be more creative with wire overall. My 13-year-old daughter and I have covered our fingers in sparkly rings! If you are planning on creating any different wire tutorials please let me know.Laura Marino"Each dawn we open our eyes to a gift we d...

Pearl & Garnet Ring
2008-05-14 04:30:02

Iridescent of Abalone Shell
2008-05-13 04:30:02
This piece of abalone shell is from New Zealand. Mom-in-law found it in her drawer and handed it over to me to play with. She said she has lots of them but can't locate them at the moment. Oh well, what a waste. Here, the shell is wrapped simply with 22g stainless steel wire. Simple but very tight. At the back of the shell (or is it the front?), the wire is bend like a cross. Hmmm! a lot of crosses lately. ...

Woven Wave ByPass Ring - Onyx
2008-05-12 04:54:43
I really enjoyed myself making this ring based on Louise's Tutorial on Woven ByPass Ring. I was a bit nervous when it comes to weaving as I failed miserably in the past especially when it involves lots of weaving. Look at this failed project - Failed PendantBut then when I was weaving this ring, it was not as difficult as back then. I guess it must be the size of wire I used for weaving. I used 28g whereas for my previous project, I used 25g. Stainless steel wires of 20g formed the shank of this ring.Very happy with the outcome and I really love it.Happy with the outcome, I give it another try with copper wire and this time it is even easier to weave. The copper wire is "soooooooo" soft. How I wish stainless steel wires are as soft as that. :) ...

Kissing Pipas
2008-05-10 10:51:38
My eldest boy, William loves to kiss. By this I mean he willingly kiss his parents (thats us) and grandparents without question. Henry, the younger one (2 and half) on the other hand is choosy when it comes to kissing. Being kiss or kissing his brother William is a definite NO! NO!. If William try to kiss him, he will run screaming and crying with his mouth covered. His reason being "Koko (big brother) got "nua" (saliva)". He doesn't mind our "nua" but he got problem with his Koko's "nua"....:D. If I kissed William first and then ask Henry to kiss me, Henry wouldn't want to because he said "Koko's nua is on my lips!" Wonder how this 2 years old is so particular about "nua" *shaking head*.Enough about kissing and "nua", here is a Kissing Pipa bracelet accompanied by a Pipa Hook/Clasp I made...

Adjustable Garnet Ring
2008-05-05 19:00:01
This ring was done last week but with my busy schedule at work and travelling, I forgot that I have not posted it here. This ring is meant to be adjustable, but once done, the adjustable is not so adjustable after all. It only budge a little bit when I try it on my bigger finger :).Anyway, this is an idea I am planning to explore more when I have the time for more wire jewelry. ...

Screw Earrings Anyone?
2008-05-05 00:59:17
At hubby's working place, people just throw around/away stainless steel screws. Such a waste! He always come home with a bunch of them, for future usages. He showed me some of the screws he collected yesterday and an idea came to my mind. The result is this "gemmed screw earrings". If you want to be different and unique, this set of earrings is very unique and looks very "hardware" :) ...

Leaf Pendant
2008-05-04 08:48:39
This is another commissioned piece of wire pendant. This time it is "leaf" themed. For the leaf frame, I used 20ga stainless steel wire while for wrapping the crystals, I used 28ga wire.I used 6mm and 4mm bicone swarovski crystals of several colors, mostly shades of green as well as pink and white. I hope it does look lie a leaf. Here are views of the pendant from the top/front, side and back.Top/front viewSide viewBack view ...

Where I've Been the Last 2 Days
2008-05-01 11:31:47
NOT on holidays but WORK at this beautiful coastal village located at the northern coast of Sarawak. This is a newly opened resort in the village.View of the village early yesterday morning. It rained heavily the night before.Villagers were so happy that we "brought" rain there :) as most of them still depend on harvested rain water for drinking and cooking.Another view of the village. So peaceful and cozy.Beautiful sunset at the beach. Didn't have the opportunity to take a dip although the beach is only about 50m from the village.Another view of the beach from the resort.Busy at work. Final editing of presentation slides and setting up the place for the public meeting.Fresh from the sea! These are mackerels caught by the villagers and now ready to be prepared for our lunch at the community kitchen. ...

"Four-in-One" Pipa Bracelet
2008-04-27 10:52:07
"Four-in-One" Pipa Focal in the making"Four-in-One" Pipa Focal in the makingDone! - "Four-in-One" Pipa BraceletI made it finally! And I am very happy and pleased with myself today as not only have I made a "four-in-one" Pipa focal for the bracelet, but I made a "Pipa Clasp" as well. Love it!I used one piece of 20ga stainless steel wire to make all four pipas . Yeah! Only one piece of wire, so that all four pipas are connected to each other. All four pipas are almost perfect except for one. I ran out of wire for the last pipa. As such, I only managed to coil twice instead of three times :) for the last one. Do you notice that? But that is the beauty of handcrafted pretties....the imperfection.................just trying to find excuses here! :). My fingers...

Sparkly Pendant and Necklace
2008-04-20 09:29:31
Today's project is a very sparkly Swarovski crystal necklace and a matching pendant. The focal for the pendant measures about 1.2cm across , yeah its a big crystal surrounded by two 6mm round crystals and four 4mm bicone crystals. The necklace measures about 20 inches in length consisting of 30 pieces 6mm donut Swarovski Crystal and gold filled metal beads, 60 of them.If the pendant and crystals look familiar, this design is actually based on my sparkly ring design and also a pair of earrings I made earlier using the same wire wraping. ...

2008-04-11 01:12:01
Sparkly Crystal Ring Tutorial********************************Here is another sample of the sparkly crystal ring made based on my Sparkly Crystal Ring tutorial. This is made by Candice of The Fortunes of Me. Here is what Candice said about my Sparkly Ring Tutorial:I just purchased your Sparkly Ring tutorial yesterday and made my first Sparkly Ring today. I could not believe how easy this ring was to make. The instructions were written out so clearly and there were so many illustrations that anyone could make this ring. This ring design is so versatile. I made this, my first, with an 8mm swarovski pearl and sterling silver. I will be keeping it for myself. But there will definitely be more Sparkly Rings to come from me and it is all thanks to you and your design. If you would like to purchase the tutorial for this ring, look to the top right hand side column of this blog. Otherwise, you can check it out at my Etsy Shop - WireBliss.Happy wrapping! ...

Malaysian Wire Jewelers Rendezvous
2008-04-11 00:51:15
The highlight of my KL trip recently was our "Malaysian Wire Jewelers Rendezvous" at Sunway Pyramid two nights ago. It was our very FIRST (face to face) meeting after we got to know each other online. As I am not a KL'lite, Shuku came and meet me at Holiday Villa and from there we took a cab to meet up with Corra at Sunway Pyramid. Apparently we waited at the wrong place (Sunway Pyramid is just so huge) but Corra found us anyway. The meeting went very well. I was quite nervous initially but we hit if off immediately. All the questions that flooded my mind before the meeting evaporated into thin air. Can't remember what they were anymore but Shuku and Corra are very nice and friendly. We went on to chat, most of the time,...

Sparkly Crystal Ring - Testimonial
2008-04-05 18:46:04
Yesterday I received an email from one of my Wire Wrap Sparkly Crystal Ring Tutorial client, Cheryl. She made some beautiful wire wrap rings as I showed here the other day - sparkly-crystal-ring-by-cheryl-lloyd.I was so happy with what she wrote and asked for her permission to post it in my blog. If you would like to know what she has to say, read on below:A very quick email update for you - I know you'll appreciate this! - I've now made about 20 rings based on your tutorial now (in the proper size crystals & wire!) and without even 'trying', I sold two to family members popping in & drew very positive comments from a few more friends, again, just turning up for a cup of tea and a chat. It does seem that ...

Stuck here in a Hotel Room
2008-04-04 08:45:48
Where would I rather be at this moment? Home! in Kuching but I am stuck here in a hotel room in Bintulu. Flight back to Kuching this afternoon was full and me and a colleague have been on waiting list for two days. Why do they only have one flight to Kuching in the evening? Blame it on MAS and AirAsia.Well, I was in Mukah again yesterday and this morning - work. Last month I was here as well but this time around we took a direct flight from Kuching to Mukah, on a Twin Otter! Yes, been a while since I last took a flight with Twin Otter. My colleague, Sam was excited with the whole thing but I don't dare to ask him what he thinks about the plane as I am afraid I wouldn't want to take another trip with that plane next time around - if i hear what he has to say :)Take a look a the pix taken. What do you think? Anyway, I am sure I have a few more trips to make to Mukah in the next few months..... ...
