Trend alert: Yellow fever!!!
2008-05-12 20:22:00
I'm obsessed with the new bright colors for spring. Mani's and pedi's are no exception, especially when it comes to.. yep you guessed it: yellow.Bright, sunny, cheery color. Suddenly it's no more "yellow dirty fellow". I've been rockin' it on and off for yearsss, even before it was a trend and onlookers and even friends referred to it as "too out there"/fugly wondering if I inhaled too much polish remover. Well now, no more!I posted a poll asking what readrs thought of bright yellow nail polish. The results? 33%- Hate it! Looks like puke :/46%- Lovin' the bright spring inspired color!18%- Maybe in another shade of yellow. (Thanks to the many of you who voted. :) I appreciate it.TIP: If you have fair skin opt for a darker yellow. Bright and light yellows look sooooo fab on darker skin tone...

The fake bob/ Pob
2008-05-10 01:53:00
After posting and going thru so many pics of Posh Spice and Rihanna, I often fantasize (and watch the reaction of my bf: utter horror haha) what I would look like with a Pob. But let's be real... I'm not ready to give up my locks which I have spent about 2 and some years trying to grow out. It's just too much of a commitment... even though the Pob looks oh-so-trendy and sassy. I love the idea of recreating the new fake bob trend that was all over the Emmys red carpet in the fall and modeled on the runway at Derek Lam's spring collection. To get this look, curl hair in rollers or with a curling iron, then pin underneath. It may take some practicing and some heavy-duty styling spray if you have stick-straight hair. Here is are more detailed instructions: 1. Apply quite a bit of mousse- roots...

Blood type diet update pt. 1
2008-05-09 16:35:00
I was so ecstatic yesterday, all day longgg. My stuff finally arrived from forever21.com. Yay!!I will be posting pics soon. Stay tuned... The stuff looks fabulous. So these past 3 days I have been on that "blood type diet".I checked the statistics on the website and ironically (ok it's not really:p) the majority of people who part took in the diet are women! I guess us gals truly are willing to go to many lengths to look good and be health concious. What I also noticed is that it depends on your blood type as to how much of a difference you will note. Most of the changes where noticed when it came to digestion, weight loss and energy levels.Bloodtype OBloodtype BBloodtype ABloodtype ABI have been feeling better especially when ...

2008-05-08 21:57:00

New Colgate whitening toothbrush
2008-05-08 21:32:00
I didn't only get deodorant.. Nope.. I went and got me a new brush to keep up my pearly whites..:) (Ok.. the real reason I needed one badly is b/c I was cheap the last time, and figured a cheap one would be just as good for the time being. Big faux pas! I ended up with bristles in my mouth everytime I brushed. :/ Learn from my mistake lol.) And I guess this week I was lucky b/c I got the right new toothbrush too which I also plan to stick to for a long time to come: Colgates new Whitening toothbrush (Doh! What will they come up with next to save us money when it comes to laser whitening).I hope I never have to get my teeth lasered so I just do my best to keep em white as much as I can and I think everyone should. I mean your smile is one of the most at...

Blood type diet..
2008-05-05 16:14:00
So on my quest for a way to get myself eating healthier (a.k.a. cut out the junk food!) my dad came up with the idea that we should all go on an "eat for your blood type" diet.Yes... He even got the book. :oI was pretty skeptical until he told me a friend of his tried it out, and when he saw her she looked better then ever! And well.. it's worth the try if those are the possible results right?I am type O positive.Basically after going thru the book that means, I should stick to lots of meat & poultry (avoid ham, bacon, pork) and low carbs. Me thinks I'm gonna be losing the extra weight I have too!:DI wrote down a brief summary of what to and what not to eat in my notebook. And some of the things I remember are:Fruits whi...

A bit about my weekend and where I live..
2008-05-05 11:46:00
Hi people! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I was off enjoying the margaritas and fun in the sun by the pool and beach side.I gotta admit, that's one of the biggest perks when you live on a tiny yet warm, tropical island. For those of you not yet aware, I live in Aruba. It's a tiny island in the Caribean right off the coast of Venezuela. It's not a part of South America though. Weird? Not so much... This island is actually a part of The Netherlands and even though the Netherlands is all the way in Europe.I speak English, Dutch, Papiamento (the native language), a bit of Spanish and a bit of French which I picked to study in highschool for a few years.A few days back we stayed at the Sonesta Suites. I absolutely LOVE this hotel. (Another fun fact: Aruba is visited year round by thousan...

Watermelon
2008-04-26 16:54:00
Ok so, remember that Watermelon Face Mask I posted about? I just tried it out.Verdict:I have oily skin. Your supposed to "crush the watermelon/mash it and then apply to face."Yea right... Unless you have someone applying it for you this doesn't work. I think a better idea would be to just take a small 1 inch cube and run it all over your face, or just apply the juice which drips after you mash it. It will work better since the "chunks of mashed watermelon" won't really stay on your face if you where to apply them.I applied the juice and I gotta say it felt good: cold so it was nice and refreshing. Smelled great too on top of it.I lay down for about 10 minutes and relaxed, then rinsed off. It left my skin soft and clean.:) I *think* my pores are a bit t...

Miracle potion! Olive oil....
2008-04-24 18:30:00
Well, since I don't have much time to post today I thought I would share a trick of mine. It's pretty widely known actually but I only discovered it recently. It's involves one simple ancient beauty secret which has been used for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans: extra virgin olive oil.Nowdays more and more products involving this ingredient are for sale on store shelves, since it's an antioxidant which helps protect the skin from the harmful action of free radicals, delaying aging skin. When shopping around for olive oil, always choose "extra virgin" because it hasn't been refined and conserves all its nutritional values. For removing eye make up, I just keep a bottle of extra virgin olive oil in my bathroom. Put some drops on a cotton ball and voila! Cheap...

Get baby smooth skin!
2008-04-23 16:30:00
Well I have been on a role with my home made masks the last few days, hope you guys don't get sick of reading about them lol. I have another one to share with you today: a home made facial mask which exfoliates too and will leave your skin softer then a babies bottom! (Can you believe in the past I used to have to buy about 5 diffrent types of maks? That used to come out to about $75 or more... so imagine how much I save now, right?:) )Ingredients:1/4 cup brown sugar1-2 tablespoons of milk (best not to use skim milk though)Feel free to add some honey to this mask too.Milk cleanses deep down to the pores and it's a great moisturizer to boot! It's purrrfect for dry skin. You can even bathe in it.:) How luxurious..It rejuvinates skin and leaves it looking fres...

Homemade facial treat: Nourishing mask
2008-04-22 21:02:00
My skin... my skin, my skin, my skin! Well, my skin has always been something which got alot of attention from me since I was... Oh well since I was about 15? As I mentioned I suffered from moderate acne thru-out my teen years. Thank god that is over and it's under control a.k.a. pretty much gone!Skin care... make up, potions and lotions, creams, gels, sprays, mouses... It can all be a bit confusing, so let me simplify things and try and guide you thru it with what I have learned thruout my last years of experimenting. All facial masks (homemade and also store bought) should stay on for 10-15 minutes, should be followed with a cleansing and a thin layer of moisturizer. If you have make up on, remove it before applying the m...

Home made deep hair conditioner!
2008-04-21 20:07:00
Ok, so as I promised I will be posting my personal, tried and tested home made recipes with ingredients you can easily find in your kitchen. Not to mention you save money and getting spectacular results, minus the harsh chemicals. Most of these recipes need to be refrigerated since they don't contain preservatives (-shelf life is approximately 1 week).Today I'm going to post about a "Avocado & Mayo deep conditioner" which will leave your hair soft and shiny.Avocados contain vitamin B6 & vitamin E, and mayonaisse is loaded with Vitamin K.As you know Vitamin E is vital for moisturizing and restoring dry or overprocessed hair. It's recommended to use a deep hair conditioner at least 2 times a month.Ingredients:plain ...

Home made acne mask
2008-04-21 14:44:00
Ok so first of all, I want to say that toothpaste does NOT help clear up acne. Don't even bother in my opinion. Most home remedies and tips will prevent future pimples from forming which is also great of course. But if you want to try and clear up existing acne and dry up existing blemishes, for oily skin try an egg white mask. It's also extremely cheap and who doesn't love that right? (costs about $0.25-$1.00). Use it as an extra along with any other acne regimen you are using. Crack an egg and seperate the yolk and the white... Then beat the egg wite. Use a cotton pad to dip into the egg and apply generously to face or any area. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Your face will feel tight while the mask is on. Wash it off and your s...

Hair: Posh Spice + The bob= "The Pob"
2008-04-21 00:32:00
Victoria Beckham a.k.a. Posh Spice has proven to be a real trendsetter. She now even has a hair-do named after which is popping up everywhere named the "Pob" (Posh Spice + Bob= Pob). The bob has been around for years, but I don't recall it being as hot as it is right now (during my lifetime anyway lol). She truly added her twist to it and reinvented this timeless style. This striking asymmetrical short cut is a combination of sleek and ophisticated, yet and funky/messy.Find a skilled stylist who is comfortable with texturizing via straight razor first. Discuss with your hairdresser what aspects of the cut will suit you, and where things should be adapted to be most flattering to your face shap...

Cynthia Nixon talks about her battle with breast cancer
2008-04-20 22:07:00
I was shocked when I read this news yet at the same time relieved that things turned out ok.Two years after she was first diagnosed, Cynthia Nixon says she successfully battled Cancer">breast cancer.Nixon, who plays the role of Miranda Hobbes on “Sex and the City”, said she was diagnosed when she was in the off-Broadway show “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.”Her reason for not going public was understandibly because of not wanting to deal with papparazo's at the hospital. Nixon, who lives in New York City, had a lumpectomy two years ago and then underwent six and a half weeks of radiation. Her mother Ann also battled the disease twice, said Nixon, who has two children."As the daughter ...

What haircut and hairstyle suits my face?
2008-04-20 15:27:00
Even though you may love the latest celebrity hair style, it might not be the right hair style for your face. The shape of your face and the proportions of your features will help tell you what hairstyle is best suited to you. It's hard to be objective about your own face shape, but here's a sure fire way to be sure your not biasing your own analysis. Hair designers are the ultimate judges of your face shape, but if you need a little help try this experiment. There are lots of suggestions on how to figure out your shape, from outlining your face shape on a mirror with lipstick to draping it with a towel and asking others to help you guess the shape. But, there is actually a scientific way to determine your face shape once and for all.To find out the shape...

Skin cream: Vaseline Intensive Care range
2008-04-19 19:07:00
Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy Body ComplexionKudos to the people at Vaseline. They managed to pack all 3 things I try and look for in moisturizers or any skin care products: Alpha Hydroxy & Vitamins A and E- and I absolutely love it! It's the only body moisturizer I use at the moment, and it's such a bargain at about $4.I tried Vaseline's latest renewal lotion but it was too greasy, but this one absorbs extremely well, plus it has a nice fruity smell to it. Indeed it evens out skin tone and gets rid of blotches with regular use just like it says on the label. The best time to apply a moisturizer is after taking a shower while your skin is still damp. If you towel off completely dry before application you won't get as ...

Feminine menswear chic: wide leg trousers and blazers
2008-04-19 15:29:00
So as you know women in "mens wear chic" clothing is still very much in- pencil skirts, sleek white button-down and Victorian style blouses, vests, fedoras, ruffles, pinstripes, suspenders, oxfords, briefcase bags, blazers and crisp wide-leg trousers. ..~BLAZERS~..I'm loving this look, but have yet to get one for myself I admit. At first I thought this look was more for the office or giving presentations at meeting. But that's so not true!! It has a classy and comfortable twist to it. A blazer is another perfect piece that every women should have. The blazer can be dressed down in jeans and dressed up with a dress; like the Celebs above. Various celebs have been spotted rockin' them as well such as Kirsten Dunst, Kate B...

Acne: How to get rid of it.
2008-04-19 11:44:00
As someone who has suffered in the past from acne I will provide you with some vital tried and tested tips.***CLEANSE your skin*** It's really, extremely important to wash your face twice a day- morning and night- with a gentle, oil and frangrance free cleanser. Don't wash your face with the same body soap while in the shower as it will dry out your skin and will also clog your pores causing more pimples. As you know there are 4 skin types: oily, dry, combination and sensitive skin.I have oily/acne prone skin, so I always use a cleaner with either: benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid.I use a very gentle scrub (rounded mini beads which are not grainy and will hurt your skin.. I mean I know it's called a scrub but your not trying to scrub your skin OFF.) Also if...

Sex And The City Movie: does one of the characters die?
2008-04-18 17:30:00
Just like me, I'm sure you guys are all eagerly anticipating the arrival of Sex And The City: The Movie . I for one, plan to be first in line to see the movie featuring the Manhattan BFF's and their hot sex & dating lives- and to wait infront of the ticket booth to get my popcorn first lol.Newhoo. As you know the directors shot a bunch of diffrent scenes and pictures to throw us all off tracks as to what the actual storyline will be. Smart move.Apparently... Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) cleverly let it slip to host Billy Eichner during the Creation Nation comedy show at the Zipper Theater (15.04.08), that someone's character dies. *Gasp!*But who could it be??The sassy redhead refused to divulge who dies, opening the door for t...

Britney Spears hit it one more time!
2008-04-18 17:00:00
Last week Britney Spears was involved in another minor traffic accident on Saturday night (12.04.08).Spears was driving her 2008 Mercedes on the Ventura Freeway at about 8:20 p.m. when she ran into the back of a Nissan car.According to the accident report: "The collision occurred when the driver of the Mercedes, driving in the number three lane, in stop and go traffic failed to observe the vehicle directly ahead of her come to a complete stop. Boondocks "The story of Gangstalicious pt 2"
2008-04-17 18:45:00
Ok so I'm a REALLY huge fan of this cartoon "The Boondocks". I came across it one day on a site, and weirdly enough I had never ever seen it on Adult Swim.Well, needless to say I found it hillarious... not only b/c it's entertaining and reminds me of the movie Friday (starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker), but also the way the creators bring forth their points while being funny. The cartoon also intruiged me b/c it features the voices of John Witherspoon, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Murphy's brother (can't remember his name right now), etc. Sometimes other entertainers have guest starred like Monique and some rappers. The Boondocks- The Story Of Gangstalicious Pt. 2Episode Detail: Much to the chagrin of Granddad, Riley starts to walk, talk, and dress like hi...

Nautical Trend
2008-04-17 16:07:00
I went Ga ga when I first saw it and the more I saw, the more I wanted it.. The crisp, clean lines. Navy Stripes. Anchor necklaces. Ahh...It's not even a "trend" since it's been around for ages starting with Coco Chanel. So far I haven't really gone all out with the nautical theme. It's nice in moderation of course like all themes. But I prefer it as an accent piece to make an outfit more interesting, either on my shoes, blouse or better yet handbag.;)My BF got me a fabulous Nautical Striped Duffel bag for my birthday. (He has such good taste!:)) I love LOVE the metalic printed anchors on the side and also the gold chain accents hanging from it. It's from Loungefly. http://www.loungefly.com/Btw: I love that brand, they have lots and lots of cute stuff with a rocker-edgy-chique style). I've...

2008 hair trends: Bangs
2008-04-17 13:37:00
Bangs are so in your face this year. Not to mention bangs are the fastest, easier and cheapest way to get a new look whether you have long hair or short. Adding bangs to a short hair style can make you look very sexy and alluring. Adding bangs to your long hair style can liven it up without having to sacrifice length. There are tons of diffrent styles of bangs (choppy, short, long, regular, sideswept or basic) which will each give a diffrent look.I'm rockin' the side swept bangs. The side swept bang was the most popular, but now I am seeing the straight ones more and more. It's usually swept across the face from a deep side part. A portion of the hair covers part of one eye. Side swept bangs can easily be kept in place with hair care products like hair spray mo...

Skinny jeans... Gonna be replaced by wide leg.:(
2008-04-17 12:57:00
Okay, uhm... as i'm sure you've probably noticed.. skinny jeans are still hot after 2 years thanks to celebs like Kate Moss, Lindsey Lohan, Sienna Miller, etc. Some people absolutely seem to HATE it and say "you can't breathe or move in them". So not true!I think it's maybe because they don't know how to wear them. (Also, I don't wear them much on a daily basis, more for going out.)(!)You DON'T need to be a SKINNY size 2 to wear them, but you DO need to have somewhat of a small/average frame I admit. If you're really thin don't get them too tight though, it won't look as flattering.Best to wear them if you are a little bit curvy with some 3 inch heels. :)If you do decide to wear them, it can look nice paired with a tunic top, or just a loose/somewhat longish ...

Ray Ban sunglasses so back in!!
2008-04-17 11:50:00
Well as I'm sure you all have noticed (and it's no big secret) styles from the 50's, 70's and 80's are all back IN!! And if a certain style hasn't come back... You can rest assure it will... Bigger and better then ever. From polka dots and those "busy" prints to skinny jeans and off the shoulder loose tops, sunglasses are no exception. The sunglasses of the season are definitely the Ray Ban Wayfarer. They where designed in the 1950's from what I read. I still remember them being around in the 9o's... Seems oh so long ago, who would have known they where gonna come back, or else I would have kept mine haha.I was a bit weary at first but the look has kinda grown on me since I absolutely adore "vintage" looking stuff.Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn (Breakfas...

Donating rice FREE!
2008-04-17 11:28:00
Bored? Looking for something to do to kill time? Put down that boring Minesweeper game.. Ok...So this site claims that for every word you get right, the sponsors donate 20 grains of rice to the needy.Status: SO TRUE!All you have to do is play the word game and choose the right word definition. It's that simple. No strings attatched.Who would have known this would be my next addiction...This site was created by 49 yr old John Breen, a computer programmer and it's a sister site of www.poverty.com.The rice is paid for by the advertisers whose name you see at the bottom of your vocabulary screen. The more people play on the site, the more advertising revenue is racked up, which in turn goes to the rice donating. Pretty clever huh?Fun fact:On october 2007, the fi...

Online shopping: www.forever21.com
2008-04-17 00:16:00
Ok so I just finished placing an order online at this site: http://www.forever21.com/I spent quite a bit of moolah actually. They have such lovely blouses for low prices and stuff ... so uh... I went kuh-rayzee. The only downside to the site is that their stuff gets sold out so quickly. About 5-6 really nice blouses got sold out before I could get my hands on them. Darn it! I'm a newbie to Shopping">online shopping. I hope the clothes from this site are as good as they look online though and I hope their sizes don't run small.:/I also checked online reviews after ordering (Yea! Silly me!) and they weren't too favorable.I will keep you guys posted about "my online shopping experience". Lol.Anyone of you have any experience ...
