Sam Trout makes today's favorite tee
2008-05-08 12:31:53
Crane in Flight by Sam Trout is my favorite tee today. The elegant design features a subtle full body print reminiscent of ocean waves while the flowers wrap around the body and onto the back. The shirt has a nice fit too. Sam is an illustrator who lives and works in Seattle. You can find him at I Heart Rummage every month, and I will be sharing a booth with him at Bumbershoot. You can buy Sam Trout's clothing in Bouncing Wall, a Queen Anne boutique that also carries Revival Ink's apparel. To check out his website, and order online visit: www.samtrout.com

This Tee Rocks!
2008-05-08 12:31:33
Sadly, it won't fit me because it only comes in kids sizes... I want one anyway though. This Tiger tee is out of control! Rustic is the new black-leather-and-chrome! It's true--the newest last word in modernism and best way to show that you're on the cutting edge of design is with animal-printed pillows and T-shirts from Fauna. And by "animal-printed," we don't mean zebra-striped and leopard-spotted; we mean actually displaying zebras and leopards, among many other animals, in sepia-flavored prints. Everything's printed by hand on organic cotton, the T-shirts are soft, and the pillows are interestingly shaped. Fauna: bringing the outside in in a brand-new way. Check out all of Fauna's tees at Design Public.

New Graphic Design in China
2008-05-08 12:28:45
With the Olympics in China approaching and current exhibitions about Chinese art, we are asking once again: what’s happening now in the country where, until a decade or two ago, graphic design and illustration were the preserve of the propagandists. And more importantly, where can we see the fresh, hot stuff that the kids are turning out? Until now, they post it mostly online on their blogs, under the radar for a lot of galleries. However, last year, we showed you the exciting new photography in China. Now the same publisher, 3030, has another work of love for you: New Graphic Design In China. For that, Hong Kong-based editor Javin Mo of Milkxhake has gathered thirty Chinese graphic desi...

Today's favorite Etsy Item
2008-05-01 17:47:23
I saw this item on Etsy’s showcase today, and I was amazed. It’s the most beautiful necklace I have seen in awhile. This very unique vintage octopus with a 16 inch steel chain will certainly turn some heads. I like the pendant’s size too, not too big, but not too small to see the detail. If you crave more vintage stamped charms like these, check out Ragtrader’s Etsy store. You won’t be disappointed.

Hot Shipoopi Nights With Modern Dog
2008-04-24 17:27:19
Last night I went to the 21st anniversary party for Modern Dog Design Company. We also celebrated the release of their book "Modern Dog: 20 Years of Poster Art". I had a great time, and caught up with a lot of old friends there. Modern Dog is an amazing Seattle design company, who has inspired me for years. Their punk-rock, yet refined, design style has been successfully applied to many big clients like Coke a Cola, the NBA, and Blue Q products. The 2 founders of Modern Dog: Mike Strassburger, and Robynne Raye teach design classes at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. They have been great mentors for me, and many others. In fact, it was during my internship at Modern dog that I decided to start my own business: Revival Ink Apparel. The 3rd member of Modern Dog, Rob Zweibel, was a clas...

Slow Shirts Is Having a Sale!
2008-04-22 17:05:26
One of my favorite t-shirt printers is Slow Shirts, based right here in Washington. I have met the 2 artists who make the art, and hand print these shirts. They are very cool people, down to earth and friendly. I think they will be vending at the Seattle Fremont Sunday market with me when the weather gets warmer. The ski lift shirt below is one of my favorites. They are having a big sale right now in their Etsy shop, with hoodies marked down to only $25! I recommend getting one before they’re gone.

Today's Favorite Etsy Item!
2008-04-11 12:02:04
Today's favorite Etsy item is the Fighting Birds Tee by 1AEON. I like the color and punk rock nature of the black print. 1AEON, the New York based company started printing shirts in 2004 and became very popular with the one-of-a-kind, multi layered hand silkscreened, colorful tees, not to mention they are mostly glow in the dark. You can find 1AEON items (t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, scarfs) in several stores from NY to Tokyo. 1AEON's style is inspired by mythological and futuristic imagery. The company came up with a simplified single print series, with more affordable prices, so the shirts are available to more customers and open for re-order. Check out more of 1AEON’s items at their Etsy shop: 1AEON.etsy.com

Today's Favorite Etsy Item - 4/9
2008-04-11 12:01:39
Today’s favorite Etsy item is the Forever Young Long Dress by Gaia Conceptions. This is the most beautiful, and comfortable dress I've seen in awhile. It’s made from local organic cotton. If you don’t know how soft organic cotton is compared to regular cotton, well you need to try it. Not only is it better for our environment, but the quality and softness of organic cotton and bamboo fabrics cannot be beat. Gaia Conceptions specializes in making clothing from the finest earth friendly fabrics, and natural dyes. To find out more about their process, check out their Etsy profile . | Think All Sustainable Furniture Looks The Same? |
2008-04-03 14:45:08
Think again! Check out these awesome furniture designs from Because We Can My favorite is the conference table and chairs they made for Comic Debris. I would love to have this in my dining room. Check out their online store where you can order you own earth friendly furniture made from recycled and sustainable wood sources. (The squirrel table pictured is my favorite in the store). All the furniture comes flat packed, and assembles without any tools. The furniture actually fits together like a very simple puzzle. How do they make these awesome functional works of art? By laying it out in Auto CAD, and transferring the files to their C&C router. The router cuts the wood following the information in the CAD file with great precision. Now that’s genius.

Say good bye to the Ruffle Dandy Tee!
2008-04-01 02:28:16
Well, it's had a good run, but I am sorry to say that the Dandy Tee is being discontinued. This is because American Apparel has discontinued the poofy sleeve shirt that I have been printing the design on. This item has been very popular, so it makes me sad to do this. Currently, I only have 5 left: 1 med, 2 large, and 2 XL. So if you would like to be one of the lucky few to snatch these up, visit my Etsy store, or click on the image below to purchase soon... I do have plans to do the dandy print on a short sleeve hoodie for the summer, so stay tuned.

Sweet Trendy Flinstones!
2008-04-01 02:23:06
I know they wouldn't exactly fit in with the rest of my furniture, but I love these bookcases. If I had my own brick and mortar clothing store, I would definitely put these in it. Swedish designers Smånsk showed a prototype of their Skew bookcase at the Greenhouse young designers showcase at the Stockholm Furniture Fair last month. The bookcase consists of identical modular components that are stacked facing alternate directions to create sloping shelves. Sloping shelves mean you do not have to arrange the shelves in various heights as with ordinary bookcases. There are room for binders at the high end of each shelve and pocket books at the low end. All parts of the bookcase are identical. To assemble it you just rotate the parts and place them on top of each other. The identical parts provides easy manufacturing as well. Smånsk are currently seeking an appropriate manufacturer for the design.
