2004 De Lille Cellars Chaleur Estate red
2008-08-28 22:38:00
De Lille Cellars is one of my favorite wineries in Washington State and their wines in past vintages are some of the wines that have convinced me of the quality and potential of this region. I had this wine in my cellar for about two years and decided I couldn't wait to see what it was all about. The bouquet expresses dark notes of black currant, espresso, and black licorice. Rich dark chocolate truffle and black raspberries are also expressed in the nose but the dominant cassis and currant are what really show in the aromas. On the palate heavy doses of oak, blackberry, cassis dominate the flavors profile. This is a deeply extracted wine with lots of power but it somehow to me lacks depth. The purity of fruit is certainly there but the layers didn't quite unfold enough. I admit I jumped ...

Bottle Shock movie trailers
2008-08-01 07:26:00
Trailer #1Trailer #2I can't wait for this one to come out. The world needs more cool movies about wine and how to appreciate wine. My guess is California wines and in particular Chardonnay will do well in sales this year. I remember the boost in Pinot sales after "Sideways". I think I'll sneak a bottle into this one!...

2001 Liparita Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2008-07-31 13:27:00
This is a wine that I have special sentiment for and one that I had the privilege to try at a trade tasting about three years ago. It was the best wine that evening and is now showing even better with the extra bottle age. Seems like yesterday when these promising 01' vintage Napa Cabs were released as the next great vintage of Napa wines since 97' and now they are almost ready and fully developed wines. The bouquet of this wine is really special and shows aromas of dark cherry, sweet tea leaf, hints of dark plums, and a touch of cedar. Light and damp leather notes and a earthy, dusty coco meets soil thing is also present but constantly changing. The very complex aromatics are what make this wine so special but the flavors are also quite daunting. Rich red cherry, tea leaf, sweet tobacco,...

2006 "Luchador" Shiraz
2008-07-26 05:23:00
This wine is just another crazy labeled wine from those guys at the R Winery down in South Australia. The wine is dark purple and deep red in color and has copious amounts of vanilla, black licorice, oak, and blackberry jam on the nose. On the palate this wine shows a hefty amount of alcohol, oak, tar, and cassis. This is what I like to call just another disjointed, over the top, and out of wack Aussie fruit bomb! Which when I think about it, makes it kind of cool in a way, just how out of touch these winemakers in Australia are with reality. This type of wine really makes you wonder if it was made from grapes. Tons of artificial fruit, tons of alcohol, loads of oak, and slightly bitter tannin is what this wine is all about. After about and hour of decanting this wine is still just way to...

2006 Betts & Scholl "the o.g. Grenache"
2008-07-25 20:57:00
This wine tricked me big time! It was a sample given to me by a local vendor and when I pulled it out of my cellar with the three other wines I was going to taste, I just assumed it was from California for some reason. When I tasted it I was shocked by the quality and balance and then turned the label around to see what I was really tasting. To my big surprise it was from the Barossa Valley which I probably would have never guessed if I were to have tasted blind. The reason why I say this is because I'm so used to wines from Australia that are way over the top and tremendous fruit bombs. This wine was elegant, soft, expressive, and had good acidity and was not over extracted or oaked. In fact, the mouthfeel was silky smooth, showing hints of soft cherry, milk chocolate, and then later ras...

Photos from my recent trip to Sonoma
2008-07-23 02:07:00
This is Mat Gustafson(winemaker at Dutton Estate) and I after tasting through several tasty barrel samples. Dutton Estate makes awesome Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Mat also has his own label which you should keep an eye out for called Paul Matthew. Sonoma is all about Burgundian varietals and this was on place that really focuses on producing world class Pinot and Chard. Ledson is about the most beautiful wine estate that I have ever seen in my life. Granted I have never been to Bordeaux but when we approached this winery my breath was literally taken away by the beauty of this building. The wines were actually very impressive as well. I recall tasting a a very good Cabernet and red blend called "Ti Amo".This was a really cool picture I took at Chateau St. Jean. Th...

2004 Trentadue Petite Sirah North Coast
2008-07-09 07:54:00
This wine is one I found to be of exceptional value and it's a pleasure to share my tasting notes. The wine is composed of 95% Petite Sirah and 5% Syrah and the greater part of the grapes used for this wine came from an old vineyard in Mendocino County’s Redwood Valley. The remainder is from the red soils and high elevation of Lake County and our Estate in Alexander Valley. It's important to note the barrel regiment as well - 14 months in 20% new and 80% older French,American and European Oak.The wine as you might expect is very dark and almost black in color. The aromas start off with gorgeous notes of prunes, rich truffles, luscious blackberry, and brambly black fruits. The presence of oak is evident but adds to the body and depth of the wine creating and creamy and rich texture, whic...

2005 Falanghina Dei Feudi Di San Gregorio
2008-07-09 07:31:00
This wine is made from 100% Falanghina from mature vines planted between 1985 and 1990. Feudi di San Gregorio, a modern expression of a centuries-old tradition of passion and dedication to the land, is Campania’s premier winemaking estate. The wines of Feudi di San Gregorio have met time and again with stellar reviews and continue to garner international critical acclaim. The aromas start off with beautiful notes of apple, banana, and pineapple and develop into seductive tropical fruit flavors. The bouquet is very appealing and is really the best part of this wine. The flavors are of citrus, apricot, nectarine, and mineral. The slight bitterness, almost like a bitter citrus peel, seems to throw this wine a little out of balance and makes it seem almost to intensely acidic. However, this...

2006 Masi Masianco Pinot Grigio ~ Verduzzo
2008-07-09 07:22:00
The Masi Masianco is a blend of 75% Pinot Grigio and 25% Verduzzo. This is a very pleasant and focused wine that shows good acidity and good overall complexity. The nose shows hints of lime, mineral, sea shell, and star fruit notes. The mineral complexities translate to the palate and with sharp acidity the wine shows flavors of citrus-lime, flint, stone fruit, and rambutan or lychee. There is also a touch of a bread yeast component which adds to the depth and body of the wine. This would just scream with the right seafood pairing! 89+ points...

Resveratrol not what it's cracked up to be....?
2008-07-08 03:02:00
Research and reports on the anti-aging effects of resveratrol have been quite frequently translated in recent times by many media sources. This so-called "fountain of youth" compound found in red wines and other natural plants and herbs has been hyped up to be something that (at least in mice), rejuvenates mitochondria and produces the same cell-level changes as longevity-enhancing calorically restricted diets. However, these tests also concluded that in order to recieve the amount of resveratrol used in these positive studies, one would have to consume around 750 bottles of red wine a day! A liter of wine contains about three milligrams of resveratrol; the mid-range mouse dose in a recent study was 30 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.Scale that up to a 165-pound human, and you've go...

2004 Laurel Glen Counterpoint Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
2008-07-07 02:41:00
This Cabernet from Laurel Glen is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sonoma Mountain appellation. Counterpoint was introduced in 1987 to accommodate those vineyard lots more suited to earlier drinking and demanding of less cellar time. However this wine is not short on power and packs a full bodied and concentrated punch. The bouquet shows all the nuances of a classic California Cabernet; dusty dark fruits accompanied by a good amount of raspberry and cherry lead into notes of peppercorn and spice. The flavors are brimming with black cherry, pepper, pencil lead, and finish with deep spicy black fruits. This is a solid bottle of Cabernet and one that is stylistically versatile and would likely do well on a restaurant wine list. 89+ points...

2001 Colosi Passito Di Pantelleria
2008-07-01 12:19:00
A very unique and well made dessert wine that is produced from an obscure grape variety called Zibibbo and comes from a small island off the coast of Sicily. Although I haven't experimented with other wines from Pantelleria I will give my honest impressions on the flavors and nuances of this bottle and compare it to other dessert wines. The wine is a pale golden color with auburn highlights and has a somewhat slimmer texture than other dessert wines. The nose starts off with aromas of sugared dates, white raisins, almonds, and a touch of pine nut. On the palate the flavors show of sweet dried apricots, golden raisins, dried orange peel, almonds, and an assortments of other nuts like cashews, Brazil nuts, and pine nuts. I like the fact that this wine differs from other stickies in that it ...

2005 La Crema Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
2008-07-01 12:16:00
This Pinot Noir is a massive, full flavored effort with mounds of youth and expression that almost needs time in the bottle to tame the vigorous and powerful flavors. The bouquet is best summed up by the oak, cherry, rhubarb, and ripe strawberry preserves that it forcefully exudes. There is a medicinal hint to the nose that I found a bit obnoxious(like a Robitussin) but it only supports my opinion that this wine is a bit to young to drink at the moment. The only thing that overpowers the aromas of this wine are the flavors which are very exaggerated and somewhat untamed at the moment. Kind of reminds me of a Paul Hobbs Pinot I reviewed awhile back because of it's high octane nature and it's similarity to many over the top Russian River Pinot's I've come across. Flavors of raw young strawb...

1999 Mastrojanni San Pio Toscana Rosso
2008-07-01 12:13:00
San Pio is beautiful "Super Tuscan" made with 75% Sangiovese Grosso and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese Grosso is very obvious to those of us who love Brunello di Montalcino and if I would have tasted this wine blind I would have thought it was a Brunello. The bouquet is very expressive of Tuscany but the earthy tones are very enticing and seductive and not musky or dirty. Plum, cherry, chocolate, tobacco leaf, and a touch of leather are a few of the aromas that define this complex and exquisite nose. Very soft and integrated tannins grace the palate in seductive fashion while nuances of black cherry, coco, leather, and ripe plum reveal themselves in a seamless and elegant deportment. This wine shows fabulous purity and justly represents the best of Tuscan terroir. I score this wine...

2005 Amon-Ra Shiraz
2008-06-27 07:15:00
This wine is well regarded as one of Australia's best and highest rated Shiraz's. In fact Robert Parker scored it 98 points. I thought it was quite delicious as well but seat belts definitely need to be fastened before attempting to drink a glass of this big boy. The aromas burst out of the glass with huge black fruits and a lovely Aussie terroir that shows creamy mint and eucalyptus. Gobs of black raspberry jam, blackberry, and a creamy tactile sensation from the new oak which is probably toasted. A touch of the same typical Australian mint makes this wine sing true to it's origin and also helps clean up the syrup-like and over the top mesh of fruit. An ultra extracted, deeply ripe, Australian super fruit crazy machine!!! Finished a bit off balance but perhaps with a bit more bottle age ...

2002 Farella-Park Cabernet Sauvignon
2008-06-27 07:11:00
This small production winery is located on the southeastern corner of Napa Valley known locally as "Coombsville." The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful expression of Napa Valley terroir and brilliant wine making technique. The aromas display the perfect blend of red fruit and oak, black cherry, vanilla bean, and a touch of anis and underlining bell pepper. The flavors combine this delicious vanilla bean character with raspberry, ripe black cherry, and creamy oak. This is a wine of great balance, complexity, and power. In my notes I gave this wine 94 Points and wrote next to it in parenthesis (Don't be bashful!) It's hard to score a Napa Cabernet 94 points and not feel like I've overdone it, but this wine is worthy of praise and I won't be bashful....

2004 Tinto Pesquera
2008-06-26 01:17:00
I've always enjoyed the wines from Pesquera and this Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero is made in typical fashion with loads of Spanish character. The color is surprisingly very dark and extracted and almost looks like it could be Syrah. The aromas show a good amount of leather and brett but are accompanied by hints of dark plum fruit and blackberry. This wine is chalk full of terroir and speaks to the Spanish wine aficionado. The flavors are rustic and leathery but also show a good amount of dark plum, blackberry, and hints of cedar box and black currant. This wine screams for Spanish sausage, manchego cheese, and a full array of tapas. Great intensity and Spanish tipicity are the strong points of this wine. Complexity is a slight issue but this could improve with cellar time. I beg the ...

2004 Pico Madama
2008-06-24 15:22:00
This beauty from the Jumilla DO in Spain is a 50-50 blend of Monastrell and Petit Verdot. Produced by Bodegas y Vinedos Murcia by winemaker Marcial Martinez Cruz, this wine has all the beauty and structure of a classic bottle. The exotic and enticing fruit aromas with hints of blueberry, tamarillo, and vanilla make this a wine of intense difference and complexity. Ripe and rich flavors of candied blackberry, licorice, and inky blueberry, melt over the palate in a luscious and polished seduction. I really love the exotic and tropical fruit aroma and flavor profile. This is a really seamless wine that leaves little to be desired. Jumilla is spot on these days with their premium wines and especially their Monastrell. 91-92 points...

2002 Provenance Beckstoffer Las Amigas Vineyard Merlot
2008-06-23 08:00:00
This is a beautiful example of why Merlot should be taken just as serious as Cabernet and I challenge anyone to try this wine and say it's lacking body, style, or complexity. It comes as no surprise that Tom Rinaldi is behind such a great effort and that this 100% Merlot shows such class and breathtaking beauty. The aromas of this wine are what really do it for me and show off the purity of this single vineyard/single varietal effort. Big black cherry, sweet tobacco, tea leaf, coco butter, and some spice round out the powerful and expressive nose, while the flavors carry unto the palate showing dominant and ripe cherries, soft cedar, and firm but well balanced tannins. This wine has a very long finish and will only improve with extra bottle age and perhaps an hour or two in a decanter. I ...

2004 Turley "Juvenile" Zinfandel
2008-06-22 08:00:00
Perhaps the most famous and sought after Zins in all of California, Turley produces rich and full bodied Zinfandel's that appeal to the new world wine drinker and the Robert Parker Jr. fans. The Juvenile is one of the less powerful effort from Turley but delivers a better price-value ratio. The aromas of this wine show hints of 70% plus cacao dark chocolate, welch's grape jelly, pencil lead, and blackberry. The fruit flavors burst onto the palate and show awesome notes of grape Popsicle, milk chocolate, and a slight cedar on the finish. This wine has developed in the glass quite nicely and really is delicious stuff. The alcohol percentage is 16.1% but the wine masks any heat, which really impresses me. Overall I think this wine is a solid, delicious effort. 90 Points ...

2003 David Girard Viognier-Roussanne
2008-06-21 08:14:00
A small 160 case production made at the David Girard El Dorado County winery, located 1300 feet in the Sierra Foothills. The winery produces mainly Rhone style wines and focuses on producing finely balanced wines reminiscent of those found in Southern France. The 2003 Viognier Roussanne is a blend of 70% Viognier and 30% Rousanne and was fermented in french oak barrels and aged sur lies for 9 months. The result is a wine with a beautiful bouquet of Crème fraîche, peaches and cream, and toasted coconut. Those of us who just adore Viognier for it's aromatic qualities will all be very pleased with this wines aromas. The texture of this wine is very round and waxy which is normal for Rhone style whites and common for wines containing Roussanne. Peaches, honey, and lemon curd unfold on the p...

2006 Three Winds Syrah
2008-06-17 16:11:00
This little Syrah from the south of France in the Languedoc region is a generous little quaffer that delivers aromas of black currant, lead, rusty metal notes, and a underlining raspberry character. The flavors continue in the dark fruit theme showing notes of blackberry, cassis, and rustic metallic notes. Overall a decent effort and I assume this is a relatively inexpensive wine, which would make it a good buy in the ten dollar range. 85 points...

2006 Four Vines "The Peasant"
2008-06-06 05:04:00
This traditional Rhone blend is composed of 33% Syrah, 37% Mourvedre, 21% Grenache, and 9% Counnoise. I was extremely pleased by the very layered and complex nose which showcased aromas of bramble berry, sarsaparilla, ripe blackberry jam, and hints of mulberry. Immediately when tasting this wine I noted that the texture was extremely polished. (This is a huge plus for me!) I just love when a wine has a silky and weighty texture and this wine is very round and polished. The flavors are full and intense showing notes of sweet cassis, bramble berry, and touches of anise and vanilla. This wine is full bodied and has quite firm tannins and is one of the most seamless and richly textured wines I've personally every tasted from Paso Robles. Excellent! 94 points...

2006 Marchetti Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico
2008-06-05 19:45:00
This Verdicchio is from the Marche just outside of Ancona, in the Verdicchio Classico zone. It's a very small 900 case production that is stainless steel fermented and produced from very low yielding vines. This wine is also pressed using a "flower press" which is extremely soft on the grapes and makes this wine essentially all free-run juice. The aromas of this wine are simple with citrus and mineral characteristics. The flavors are of lime peel, mineral, and wet stone. This wine has a real striking acidity which makes it a perfect pairing for all types of seafood. I actually had some colby jack cheese which it went really nice with, but I think this wine would flourish with fish. Easy, simple, fresh, and good for food. 86 points...

2004 Bonny Doon Syrah Le ousseur
2008-05-30 00:12:00
Let me start out by saying that this wine is an astonishing steel at the price point where it sits. I reviewed this wine with no prior knowledge of the winery or the wines Bonny Doon produces. I also had no idea this wine was under $20 and when I found out I was very surprised. This wine drinks better than many forty to fifty dollar bottles of California Syrah. Now that I have your attention! This wine is deep and dark in color and only contains around 13.5% alcohol. Amazing when you think about the current trend of making high octane Syrah. The nose boasts wonderful aromas of cassis, bacon fat, blackberry, a touch of black cherry, and subtle hints of pencil led and tar. My wife also gave me a suggestion of what she smelt on the nose and said it smells like orange peel, which tends to be ...

Last year I went to a party in San Francisco organized by all the good ol' boys from Wine Library TV. I had a chance to chat with Gary Vaynerchuk and he's as real and personable in person as he is on your laptop screen. Amongst all the wonderful wines that the 80 or so odd people brought, Gary really brought "the thunder" with some 2002 Chateau Pavie and a Philip Togni Cab(can't remember if it was 03' or 04'). | 2008-05-28 13:06:00 |
This wine it's intense black color and full bodied spiciness threw me off gaurd as I was expecting to see a more Italian-esc type wine. The nose showed hints of black currant and black licorice. The flavors profile continues with black fruits of blackberry, black cherry, and hints of tar. Very dry and slightly bitter tannins accompany the finish which is concerning. The wine is simply a bit off balance and not really typical in character for this wine region. The packaging is snappy but I can't score this wine any higher than 83 Points.-They can't all be winners! :)...

2003 Fantesca Cabernet Sauvignon
2008-05-26 12:43:00
This Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the Spring Mountain AVA comes from a relatively new winery that is still a small production and focuses mainly on it's estate Cabernet. The neat thing about this winery is that Heidi Barrett (formerly of Screaming Eagle) has recently become the new winemaker. So look for great things to come from this winery. This Cab has a nose of vanilla, oak, blackberry, cassis, and a slight funk, like a bit of cheese. The flavors are rich with mouth coating dark fruits; blackberry, black raspberry, and a touch of dry black licorice. This wine carries a lot of oak and should be interesting in a few more years because it seems to have a solid core of fruit. 90 points...

2005 Gnarlier Head old vine Zinfandel - Sommer's Vineyard
2008-05-24 01:54:00
The upgraded wine from Gnarly Head Cellars is the Gnarlier Head Zin. Sommer’s vineyard, the source of Gnarlier Head grapes, is located in the western end of the Dry Creek Valley. This wine is still priced very reasonably and is a better quality wine than the standard Gnarly Head Zin. The Aromas are of deep black raspberry, black cherry, clove, and a touch of candied strawberry jam. The flavors are concentrated but lush and ripe; red raspberry, black cherry, vanilla, and hints of mocha all combine to make a nice fruit forward and well balanced effort. Finishes with a touch of heat but overall I like this wine for the price($20 or less). 88 points...

Everyone has a wine that made him or her become a true wine connoisseur. It's my hope that anyone who reads this post will comment on which wine convinced them of this brilliance of the holy beverage. Mine was the 1996 Château Angélus poured by Hubert de Boüard's daughter at one of my first trade tasting events. I remember being blow away by the complexity and depth of this wine and comparing everything else I had tasted at the show to this one wine. Of course there are wines that I have be able to taste since then that may be considered superior wines, but this was the wine that did it to me. It turned me into a wine lover, one always seeking that next spiritual wine experience. Some may say it was a gradual progression from cheap bulk wines to Californi...

The 2005 Bearboat Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley is a nice Pinot for the money and a good balanced wine. The aromas show notes of fresh strawberry, ripe red raspberry, and a underlining toastiness. The flavors are fruit forward, showing notes of strawberry, tart raspberry, and hints of black licorice. It finishes tart and dry but overall very pleasing. This wine is at the perfect twenty dollar price point and is a great buy if you want to experience Russian River Pinot for half the price of most wines in the category. 88 points...

2007 Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec
2008-05-18 00:37:00
This has been one of my favorite producers of wine from Argentina for a few years. I really enjoy the Crios Torrontes and Syrah-Bonarda blend as well. Susana Balbo has made wine for 22 years and puts her best efforts into her Susana Balbo label and but also sets aside fruit for her Crios label which are wines made to be enjoyed in their youth. The 2007 Malbec is 100% Malbec aged 9 months in 50% 1-year French and 50% 1-year American barriques. The aromas boast gobs of exotic black fruits, sweet black licorice, and hints of toasted oak or a smokiness. The wine surprised me with it's very new world approach of inky, dark, juicy, and candied flavors, sweet black currant, licorice and loads of cassis. Very similar to many Aussie wines stylistically. | 2006 Papapietro Perry Leras Family Vineyards Pino Noir |
2008-05-13 03:41:00
This wine from the Russian River Valley is made by Ben Papapietro in his small family owned winery. The Leras Family Vineyard, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley off Woolsey Road, is planted with Pommard clones that are approximately 12 years old, as well as newer vine clones 115, 667 and 777. The vineyard embodies earthiness and minerals, the signature of Pinot Noir grown in the Russian River Valley. The color of this wine was very light, in fact if it was any lighter it would almost pass for a rose. The bouquet showed notes of fresh strawberry, mineral, and sandalwood. The flavors were of soft strawberry, Rainer cherry, and minerals. This wine improved with a bit of aeration as do most wines. The finish was a little warm but I have grown to...

This beauty I had the opportunity to taste last night and was impressed once again with length in which Bordeaux is ahead of all other wine regions. This wine once decanted for around an hour really started to sing and show immaculate complexity. Aromas of plum, black cherry, leather, and subtle hints kalamata olive combined for a stunning and very complex nose. The bouquet reminded me of really good Brunello di Montalcino strangely enough! The flavors equally complex unfolded onto the palate with plum, sweet tobacco, tea leaf, cherry, and leather. The tannin was sweet but still gripped down on the front and mid-palate. The finish was very long and unfolding. 94 Points-THX Lenzo-...

2006 DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate Blanc
2008-05-09 01:58:00
In previous vintages this wine has been some of my favorite white wine in the world. In fact wines from Delille have always impressed me since I first tried them a few years back. The 2006 Chaleur Estate Blanc is composed of 61% Sauvignon Blanc and 39% Semillon and the fruit is sourced from several different vineyard sites around Washington State. The aromas are simple but are really quite closed down at this stage of life for this wine, lemon grass, smoke, fig, and slight hints of herb are just a few of the notes that could be unlocked. The flavors are of creamy lemon and hints of straw accompanied by a sharp and bracing acidity. This wine needs time in the bottle to calm itself down and become complete. The alcohol was a bit much on the finish but I sus...

2000 Terredavino La Mora Barolo
2008-05-06 20:03:00
It was tough to find any valid information on this wine and how it was produced and vinified and such is the case with lots of Italian wines. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this wine and the brilliant aromatics Nebbiolo almost always offers. The aromas showed beautiful aromas of a classic fig, tea leaf, ripe plum, and loads of cherry. Very soft and sleek on the palate showing flavors of mouthwatering Rainier cherries, soft hints of leather, sweet tobacco, and tea leaf. A very nice and developed Barolo with great complexity and a long seductive finish of plums and figs. As a avid wine taster here in the United States, I get the opportunity to taste through lots of wine, most of which is domestic. I really enjoy when an Italian wine puts me back in check. | 2005 Christian Moueix Appellation Series |
2008-05-06 00:22:00
The famed Bordeaux and Napa Valley winemaker Christian Moueix, whose family owns the greatest estates of Pomerol including Petrus, has recently released his new Appellation Series Bordeaux wines. These include Pomerol, Saint Emilion, and Medoc wines that showcase characteristics of each appellation at a fraction of the price of most appellation designate wines. | 2005 Jarvis Chardonnay Finch Hollow Vineyard |
2008-05-04 20:59:00
This Chardonnay is aged in 100% new french oak for 11 months and is 100% estate fruit from Jarvis' Finch Hollow vineyard. Dimitri Tchelistcheff the son of the famous winemaker André Tchelistcheff, previously of Beaulieu Vineyards, follows much of his fathers traditional techniques that made BV a world renoun winery and makes gorqeous wines for Jarvis. This wine has a golden straw color and boasts intoxicating aromas of buttery baked apple, caramel, lemon, and nutmeg. The flavors are powerful and expresive and show notes of caramel apple, nutmeg, toast, and creme brulée. The wine is very ful bodied and rich but maintains a sharp acidity which balances out the hefty texture. I would love to see this wine with a lobster or a chicken cream sauce dish. 9...
