The New 1,000 Calorie Sauna
2007-04-02 16:29:21
The Smarthouse Technology Guide features an infrared sauna that burns more then 1,000 Calories in about 30 minutes. This sounds very interesting.
The sauna technology is from a small company called Health Mate.
It claims its sauna’s can burn up to 1000 calories in 30 minutes and provide great health benefits for the skin, due to increased blood flow, and also relief from arthritis, strains and sprains.
A brief perusal of the Health Mate site shows this interesting health claim:
As you get relax in the nice heat of the Health Mate sauna, your body is working hard, producing sweat, pumping blood - and of course burning calories. According to a Journal of the American Medical Association report, in a single sauna session you may burn as many calories as you would rowing or jogging for 30 minutes. So you actually lose weight - not just water.
Lose weight - not just water? That leaves muscle, bone, fat, and organ tissues. I’m not sure how an infra-red sauna is capable of doi...

How About A Million Pound Low-Carb March?
2007-04-02 00:47:00
With the success of my blog has come a flood of e-mails from all kinds of people passing on blog post ideas that they think would interest me. I have to be honest with you and let you know that most of these go right into File 13. Sure, I’ll hang on to them for a while and consider whether they need to become a blog post or not. But most of the time, they become trash.
However, I have to admit one of my readers who wishes to remain anonymous had the most creative idea regarding livin’ la vida low-carb that I’ve seen in a very long time and I felt it was more than worthy of your attention. By that person’s permission, I present to you a brief of the concept he describes as the “Million Pound March.” I have added “low-carb” to that idea so that people will understand what we are marching about.
Here’s the brief for the “Million Pound Low-Carb March”:

Record-Breaking 126,000 Hits For Diet Blog
2007-04-01 20:53:00
I know it seems like I say this every month, but I had my all-time highest amount of blog traffic in March 2007. Following the more than 116,000 pageviews in January 2007, this past month at the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog was even better–126,002!!!
Why did this spike in traffic which actually pushed me past the 1 million total pageviews mark a few weeks ago happen? I have a couple of theories.
First, there was the release of this Stanford study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association that found the Atkins diet was best among four popular diets. Naturally, people became curious about livin’ la vida low-carb again and guess where their Google searches sent them? Yep, right here and at the various other web sites I write for, including CarbWire, CommonVoice, and LowCarbNewsline.
In fact, I had a record-breaking 7,947 pageviews on March 8, 2007 and around 35,000 pageviews that week alone which helped push my stats to all-time highs...
