Sex Addiction and Crystal Meth Addiction
2008-05-01 05:43:22
Sex addiction and crystal meth addcition, what a combination. If there were ever two partners in crime they win the prize. It has been well documented that crystal meth addiction leads to high risk behavior, especially involving sex. The heightened sexual experience that comes along with crystal meth creates an avenue for a path of destruction. The problem is that crystal meth use almsot immediately becomes crystal meth addiction leading to poorer choices disregarding any consequences. Many people in the grips of sex addiction will turn to drugs to help manage the feelings surrounding their sex addiction. Whether the sex addiction takes on the actions of pornography, multiple partners or masturbation, sex addiction is a progressive compulsive behavior resulting in negative consequences. So when you combine the consequences of sex addiction with those of a crystal meth addiction and you have complete emotional and physical devestation. Holistic Drug Treatment Center for the GLBT
2008-04-23 17:25:29
I have found it hard to find a holistic drug treatment center that has the ability or staff to comfortably treat gay men and women. I guess I shouldn’t say the ability, but that has a staff trained. People you can just open up a holistic drug treatment center and effectively treat everyone. Well that just isn’t true. No one drug treatment program is right for everyone and the same holds true for a holistic drug treatment program. Without seeming jaded, not everyone working in a holistic drug treatment center is comfortable treating the GLBT, nor the issues affecting us. We have to deal with sexual orientation, coming out and internalized homophobia. Issues not everyone is familar with. It is my opiniion that if a drug treatment center is not expert in providing a particular type of holistic drug treatment, just refer the person to an appropriate holistic treatment program. For those of yo who are interested, there is a holistic drug treatment program that is focused on the...

New York’s Gay Popultation Heads to Florida Drug Rehab
2008-04-21 18:06:03
New York has always been a city which embraces the gay and lesbian community. Along with Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida they have teamed up to support the GLBT community. We all know there has been a high incidence of drug addiction in the gay commuity and to meet this need Florida, more specifically Jacksonville, Florida designed a gay friendly Rehab">drug rehab. This Florida drug rehab seems to have been admitting more and more LGBT from New York. We are not sure if it because New York drug rehabs don’t cater to the gay community  or this Florida drug rehab is that good. What we do know, is Freedom Rings Florida drug rehab has grown considerably with GLBT from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and New York.  This Jacksonville, Florida drug rehab is exactly what the GLBT has been looking for. They treat gay and lesbian patients as equals, but were smart enough to provide specialty groups to duscuss gay sensiteive issues.  If you are a member of the GLBT and need drug rehab o...

Holistic Alcohol Rehabilitation Worked For Me
2008-04-21 17:48:43
I drank and used drugs for many years and to say I needed alcohol rehabilitation was putting it mildly. The problem was I had been in alcohol rehabilitation before and something just didn’t click. As the years went by, I began to hear about holistic alcohol rehabs, which incorporated additional teaching from the holistic world, so I took a look at holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs. I should say, my wife looked at holistic alcohol rehabs. I was too drunk and high most of the time. When I heard these holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs had holistic services such as meditation, yoga etc. I asdi well at least it is different and went on to holistic alcohol rehab. While I didn’t become serene or able to touch my nose to the floor, I did feel more focused. When I left the holistic rehab, I felt more well rounded and ready for recovery. The holistic alcohol rehabilitation program focused on every aspect of my recovery. I would reccomend it to anybody. Bookmark to: ...

Being Gay and My Valium Addiction
2008-04-14 21:15:24
I had spent so many years being gay and denying it my life was just becoming unmanageable. The stress was unbearable and I just felt so anxious all the time. Then I was introduced to valium, which an hour after I took it I felt so much more relaxed. So I figured if I valium made me feel this good then two valium should make me feel better. Hence, the beginning of my valium addiction. It wasn’t long in the early stages of my valium addiction that I began mixing other drugs into the picture, but only to enhance an already susbstantial valium addiction. Valium Addiction Treatment My valium addiction got me to the point where I couldn’t even function. Forgt about my “gay issues”, I was a mess. My friend finally got me some valium addiction treatment in a residential treatment center. This addiction treatment for valium addiction was rough. I was so sick for what seemed like weeks I swore that I was done with valium, so I left valium addiction treatment early. I went...

Addiction Program Exceeds Expectations
2008-04-11 06:19:00
How many times have you spoken to an addiction program only to hear the same old thing regarding the services they provide. Every addiction program seems to provide the same therapy to the general population. The addiction program talks of gret success rates and an addiction program staff that is great. It was not until I stumbled across this gay friendly addiction program that rekindled my expectations of a quality addiction program. while this addiction program provides similar addiction services as other addiction programs, the addiction program specializes in the treatment of one population and does it well. The addiction program called Freedom Rings treats the gay and lesbian population in a gay affirming atmosphere while incorporating the heterosexual community into the mix. If you are a member of the LGBT or gay and lesbian community, look into this addiction program. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to find an addiction program that delivers what it promises.  Bookmar...

My Heroin Addiction Recovery
2008-04-06 20:17:41
After growing up in Baltimore, Maryland and spending some time in downtown Baltimore, I realized there was more to life than living in the Maryland ssuburbs. I started off snorting cocaine with friends and then one day I met someone downtown who introduced me to heroin. Heroin was great and so was cocaine, so I used them both together for a while (8ball) Well before long I had a cocaine addiction and heroin addiction and was in trouble. My heroin addiction led me to spending more time in Baltimore city as that is where the heroin was. Then one day, I was arrested for selling heroin and was put in jail. While in the Baltimore jail my heroin addiction was kicking my butt. I was so sick, I swore if I ever got out I would never use again. Heroin Addiction Recovery  I tried beating my heroin addiction by myself and it didn’t work. My addiction to heroin was just too strong so I left Maryland for heroin addiction recovery. My first week ther was tough and my recovery from heroin add...

Holistic Addiction Treatment Program for the LGBT
2008-04-03 07:16:21
After being in several addiction treatment programs, meeting with relase each time, I finially decided to try a holistic addiction treatment program, which was gay friendly. Think that was hard to find. It was, but I did. All I wanted in a gay friendly addiction treatment program was a treatment program specializing n “gay issues” because I still was not comfortable with my sexuality. The holistic addiction treatment program was easier. Finially, when I was about to give up I found a holistic addiction treatment program, with an addiction treatment compoent called Freedom Rings. It was perfect for me. It was an all gay addiction treatment program and seemed to provide just the right holistic services. Freedom Rings, the holistic addiction treatment program for the LGBT is located in Jacksonville, Florida and has treated thousands of members from the LGBT community. I was one of them and I have been clean for three years. After participating in the holistic treatment in the ...

Florida Drug Rehab for the Gay Community
2008-03-31 22:10:15
A wonderful Florida Rehab">drug rehab has been designed to provide “state of the art” drug rehab for the LGBT. As a Florida drug rehab, gay and lesbian patients fly in from all over the country to participate in this exclusive drug rehab treatment center. As a drug rehab treatment center of choice for thousands of the LGBT community, Freedom Rings has become the premier provider of drug rehab in Florida. The Florida drug rehab that was designed for us is a first class drug rehab treatment facility. This lakeside drug rehab treatment center, located in Jacksonville, Florida saved my life. My therpist in Freedom Rings was fantastic. As good as the drug rehab treatment was, the Florida weather was even better. What can I say, I enjoyed the sunshine, the beach and am glad I went to a Florida drug rehab.   Even Jacksonville was a great Florida city. The recovery in Jacksonville, Florida was great, the people were incredible and I even go back to Jacksonville to visit friends I...

My Prescription Drug Addiction
2008-03-08 08:21:27
My prescription Addiction">drug addiction almost killed me and I swore to the end it really wasn’t a prescription drug addiction, but I was only taking the prescription medication the doctor prescribed. The one thing I left out is that I was seeing more than one doctor and taking over four times the amount that was prescribed. Loritab Drug Addiction I hurt my back one day and went to see a doctor who prescribed soma which then became loritab for the pain I claimed was there. Now let’s be clear, my back did hurt, but not that bad and certainly not bad enough for loritab. I loved the feeling loritab gave me and I had heard about drug addiction and prescription drug addiction but I thought I could control the loritab. Well I was wrong, it wasn’t wrong before my addiction to loritab skyrocketed and I had a prescription drug addiction. Regardless, I claimed my loritab  addiction was a result of the medication my doctor gave me and I was just taking a little too much.  Prescripti...

Gay Clubs and Crystal Meth
2008-02-24 12:24:47
For years gay clubs have been the avenue of socializing for the LGBT. Unfortunately, in many cases, drugs are commonplace in many of the clubs. One of the drugs that are prevalent is crystal meth, crank or ice as it is called. It does not take long before crystal meth use turns into a  crystal meth addiction and then it si time for crystal meth treatment. For many in the gay club scene, after they complete crystal meth treatment the gay nightclubs are the only place they feel comfortable and is still their main avenue of social networking. It is not long before crystal meth enters the picture again and crystal meth treatment is the only intelligent option. For the person that is serious about their crystal meth addiction treatment, the gay club scene must end. The LGBT are taught this in addiction treatment and need to replace the gay nightclub scene with 12 step support groups to establish a new network of friends. It is difficult enough to stay free of crystal meth addiction without...

Holistic Addiction Recovery Comes of Age
2008-02-19 10:40:53
Holistic addiction recovery, although having been around for a number of years, is just beginning to integrate into addiction treatment. While addiction treatment has proven beneficial to many people, holistic addiction recovery takes on many different disciplines to facilitate a longer lasting recovery. Holistic addiction treatment takes into account the healing of the body, mind and spirit while introducing alternative treatment to each and every patient.  Holistic addiction treatment is really designed for people to practice these holistic practices after treatment to bolster their personal development. For information of holistic addiction recovery or holistic addiction treatment, please go to www.recoveryconnection.org. You wil find information relating to holistic addiction treatment, addiction recovery and a host of other addiction issues. For admission to an addiction recovery program, you can call the addiction helpline at 1-800-99-DETOX. Bookmark to: ...

Gay, Addicted to Crystal Meth and Living in Boston, Massachusetts
2008-02-14 07:01:36
I tried to find an addiction recovery center in Boston, Massachusetts that understood the needs of the gay man and and could provide effective crystal meth addiction treatment. While Boston is a great city it didn’t have many addiction recovery centers, especially recovery centers that understood the needs of the gay man or woman. This caused me to look outside of Massachusetts for addiction treatment and there seemed to be more addiction recovery centers that understood gay issues and could provide treatment for crystal meth addiction in Florida. The addiction recovery center I found in Florida was called Freedom Rings , in Jacksonville, Florida and in addition to being a gay friendly recovery program and able to treat crystal meth addiction, the weather was great and the facility was beautiful. While the Florida recovery center in Jacksonville was great and Florida was a wonderful place to go for a recovery program, I still wanted to return to Boston after addiction treatment....

Gay Nightclub Scene and Drug Addiction Recovery
2008-02-09 19:56:54
The gay nightclub scene in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa, Florida continues to thrive. Maybe it is due to so many gay and lesbian men and women moving south from New York City, NY, Boston, Mass. or Chicago, Illinois. Whatever the case the gay “club scene” continues to grow. Along with the gay club scene growing, the gay Addiction">drug addiction problem is increasing. The good news is there are now drug addiction recovery programs, sensitive to the needs fo the LGBT. Unfortunately, many of the LGBT have built their entire social network around the “gay club scene”, which often times leads to relapse, not to mention STD’s, HIV and HEP C. Recovery from drug addiction is not easy. As much as everyone like to think you just go to drug addiction treatment and everything will be fine, well it just isn’t that easy. All my friends, even the one’s that don’t use drugs, socialize in gay bars. You are now going to tell me that I can’t ...

Britney Spears and Dual Diagnosis Treatment
2008-02-07 12:53:16
To this point it seems as if Britney Spears has been in a drug treatment center and a psychiatric hospital. In the drug treatment center they found an addiction problem and in the psychiatric hospital it seems as they diagnosed a mental health problem. When you put both of these disorders together you have what is referred to as Diagnosis">dual diagnosis and this person requires dual diagnosis treatment. Dual diagnosis treatment can be provided in a drug treatment center as long as they are equipped with a psychiatrist that understands drug addiction and a clinical staff that knows how to treatment addiction as well as mental health problems. With a dual diagnosis, these disorders need to be treated concurrently or relapse could occur.  We don’t know if Britney Spears has had dual diagnosis treatment, just that she problably needs it. For a premier dual diagnosis treatment center you can call 1-800-511-9225. Bookmark to: ...

Drug Alcohol Rehab and a Gay Man
2008-02-05 05:52:25
I was looking for a drug alcohol rehab program in New York and the more I looked the more confuse I got. There were drug alcohol rehab programs, drug alcohol detox and drug alcohol detox programs. It seemed like the end was never in sight. Add to that I was looking for a drug alcohol rehab to help me with “coming out” and it made the decision even harder. Then I found a drug alcohol rehab in Florida, which was obviously far away from new York, but it did provide treatment for the gay and lesbian community which was attractive to me. As much as I didn’t want to leave New York, I didn’t want to live my life in fear. I also didn’t want to be a slave to my crystal meth addiction either. This drug alcohol rehab seemed to have excellent staff credentials and clnical services. I am happy to say, I am gay and proud of it today. My crystal meth addiction is no more and I decided not to return to New York as of now. It is amazing what my crystal meth addiction did t...

Drug Addiction Treatment Rehab and My Family
2008-02-04 07:30:23
Unless you are gay like me, you can not understand the fear associated with telling your heterosexual parents. All they ever spoke about was the day I would get married and give them grandchildren. Every tme I heard that I hit the crystal meth pipe and mellowed with alcohol. This went on for years until I realized and so did my parents that I had developed a crystal meth addiction and alcohol addiction, but that was not what I was concerned about.  I went to drug addiction treatment willingly and my parents were relieved I went to the treatment rehab. The staff at the drug addiction rehab were great and provided me with the best of drug addiction treatment, but then it hit me. This drug addiction treatment rehab had a family treatment rehab program and that was next. Well, you should have seen my family’s faces. While they were in shock, I was relieved. The addiction treatment rehab staff were great in working with my parents. By the time I left treatment rehab, we agreed that i...

Celebrity Rehab Not a Good Representation of Drug Addiction Rehab
2008-01-29 17:44:06
I have watched Celebrity Rehab and I have to tell you that it is like a citcom. The fact that these people in Celebrity Rehab downplays the real importance of a Addiction">drug addiction rehab. It is as if drug addiction rehab is not important as the major of element is automatically breached, as well as, it looks like the celebrities on Celebrity Rehab are acting.  I saw one actor on a talk show recently and he tried to describe celebrities as different, especially regarding their access to drugs and less than desireable people. It show just how little they or he is getting out of drug addiction rehab. Their access to drugs is no greater than a physician or pharmacist and the illicit individuals they speak of are no worse than a heroin addict meets on the street every day. In my opinion, Celebrity Rehab can and should do a much better job or portraying drug addiction rehab. Since when can patients miss group to run out to an outside activity. This is why so many celebrities relapse or run into ...

Addiction Recovery in the Gay Community
2008-01-25 14:37:05
For quite some time drug addiction recovery in the gay community suffered due to lack of drug addiction services which is ironic because the incidence of drug addiciton in our community is so high. Whether it is due to issues with our sexual orientation or the bar scene we frequent, drug addiction is higher in our community than the heterosexual community. Today, drug addiction recovery is much higher than it used to be. This is due to an increase in addiction recovery program services across the country that are geared to meet our needs. Addiction recovery programs have integrated sexual orientation groups, as well as, groups focused on homophobia, internalized homophobia and more. After completing the addiction recovery programs, we now have support groups which give us the choice of where to go to bolster our addiction recovery. It is great.  I have met a ton of new friends all of who are clean and sober. By staying close and providing support to each other I believe my recovery ...

Drug Addiction Treatment and Alcohol Rehab Saved My Life
2008-01-21 10:25:53
Growing up gay presented a multitude of problems for me, many of which I chose to deal with by taking cocaine and alcohol. Everything seemed so difficult to me, whether it was maintaing a relationship in the gay world, the social scene, issues with my parents or issues within myself. Cocaine and alcohol just seemed to make things easier. One problem though, I never counted on Addiction">drug addiction or alcoholism. I never dreamt that I would require drug addiction treatment or an Rehab">alcohol rehab program.  Not me, drug addiction treatment and alcohol rehab was for the losers. Regardless of who it was for, I needed it and within a week I was in rehab treatment. After being in drug addiction treatment for about a week I started to be introduced to other patients and their lives. It seemed as though there were more things we had in common than differences. With the exception of me being gay, we were very much alike. We all wished we had gone to drug addiction rehab sooner, none of us could stop on...

Tweakers, Crystal Meth Detox and Crystal Meth Rehab
2008-01-14 11:50:36
People who require crystal meth rehab are referrred to as “tweakers” by many in the rehab busines. Tweakers are really just people with a drystal meth addiction and were given that name because of the incredible amount of time they are awake due to their crystal meth addiction.  Almost every person with a crystal meth addiction requires crystla meth rehab, even though most “tweakers” are resistant to treatment until they have run out of meth. Crystal Meth Rehabilitation Crystal meth rehabilitation is no different than any other rehab except the “tweaker” may enter rehab more deficient from a nutritional perspective, are at high risk for STD and will require much more rest than the typical person recovering from addiction. Crystal meth detox is almost never enough when speaking of complete drystal meth rehabilitation. Crystal meth detox is only the first step and they need to go on to participate in the complete drug rehabilitation program. Keep in mind that the detox for crystal meth is not really a physical detox, but more of an emotional detox. A person experiencing cetox from crystal meth will be anxious, irritable, experience mood swings and craving for the drug. During the crystal meth detox phase of rehab, medications are provided to produce a calming effect for the patient, allowing them to relax and recooperate.  Although there is not a physical withdrawl associated with crystal meth detox, do not be fooled, these people require medical supervision. The “tweaker” has literally poisoned themselves with their meth use causing medical damage and creating medical problems for which they require assistance. Bookmark to: ...

Addiction Treatment for Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida
2008-01-10 11:55:44
Orlando, Florida certainly was an interesting place to live with all the amusement attractions and clubs to frequent. Unfortunately, with all this excitement came lots of alcohol and with the alcohol came the crystal meth. After some time, although I denied it, I was suffering from an addiction to both. It wasn’t until I received my second DUI and fell down some steps and cut my forehead, that my partner insisted I get into addiction treatment in Orlando. With great hesitance, I began to research Orlando addiction treatment which could treat a gay man and wanted to treat a gay man. Addiction treatment in Orlando, Florida was really limited and especially so regarding the LGBT. I later stumbled on addiction treatment in Jacksonville, Florida for the LGBT. I was excited and scared at the same time. I would be away from my partner, I didn’t know Jacksonville, Florida and was scared what life would be like without crystal meth and alcohol. I was excited because I was going to an addiction treatment program that understood me. After a few days, I finially left Orlando and headed to Jacksonville. When I arrived at Freedom Rings I felt really welcome. This addiction treatment program was much nicer than the others in Orlando. I have to admit that it has only been four weeks since addiction treatment ended, I still think about alcohol and crystal, but I am committed to staying clean and sober. thank you to Freedom Rings and the addiction treatment staff.  Bookmark to: ...

Addiction Treatment in Key West, Florida
2008-01-07 10:31:25
From what I could see, there doesn’t seem to be very much addiction treatment in Key West and even less inpatient addiction treatment that focuses on the needs of the LGBT. Yes, there are outpatient therapists, but for the individual that needs addiction treatment in an addiction treatment center there are few to choose from. There irony here is that the population in Key West, Florida is predominantly LGBT. There is a gay friendly addiction treatment center in Florida which is located in Jacksonville, Florida. This addiction treatment center, which is called, Freedom Rings, is not an entirely gay treatment center. It is an addiction treatment program which meets the needs of the LGBT community. This approach is considered more effective than the “gay only” addiction treatment approach. The general belief in the addiction treatment world is that a person’s last day in an addiction treatment program should resemble their first day in the real world. This is what Freedom Rings is all about. You can find Freedom Rings addiction treatment center at www.gay-rehab.com. We welcome our friends from Key West in advance. Pride and Gay Drug Addiction
2008-01-03 17:14:19
Research has shown us that drug addiction in the gay community is higher than the heterosexual community.  So what!!!!! As with the heterosexual community, pride will keep us from seeking addiction treatment. Pride will keep us from asking for help with almost anything. It is not until we  have lost what we value most where  we put our pride in our pockets and ask for  drug addiction help. The opposite from pride is humility, supposedly a key ingredient in addiction recovery. I agree. My drug addiction was killing me. I tried everything I could to stop, but it was impossible. I just didn’t want anyone to think I needed them. Finally my drug addiction got to be too much and I didn’t care what anyone else thought. I needed drug addiction help NOW and needed it bad. My pride almost killed me, not my drug addiction. When I entered drug addiction treatment I found out I was not the only one. Every gay man and woman I spoke to understood how pride kept them out there longer. Today, it is not my pride I talk about, but my gratitude for drug addiction treatment. Without the drug addiction help, I never would have found drug addiciton treatment. Today, asking for help is easy, not comfortable, but easy. For drug addiction help, Forget pride and Call 1-800-511-9225 NOW!!!!!!!!! Bookmark to: ...

The Best Alcohol Detox Center
2008-01-02 19:44:56
Alcohol Detox and Alcoholism  When I was looking for an alcohol detox center I was so sick I couldn’t see straight. My alcoholism had progressed to a point where blackouts were common. I was about to be fired from a career it had taken me 20 years to build. Who would have ever have thought alcoholism would beat me, but it did. All of the alcohol detox centers I heard about were ditry buildings where the homeless and less fortunate went. These people were not the ones I associated with. I had insurance and savings I could use for detox. Finially I met someone that knew of an alcohol detox center that his brother went to. His brother suffered from alcoholism and a cocaine addiction. I thought I was better off because I only suffered from alcoholism. Was I nuts or what? I lived in New York City, Manhattan to be precise and ended up in an alcohol detox in Florida. I felt that if I was going to a alcohol detox center, I might as well go to detox in a beautiful climate. God forbid, I considered whether they provided good care. Luckily for me, the Florida detox center was great. After 5 days I was feeling much better. they gave me medication to make the detox easier. After alcohol detox, believe it or not, I went on for further alcoholism treatment. Today, I am 5 years sober thanks to Florida’s Lakeview Health. Their alcohol detox can be found by calling 1-800-99-DETOX.   Bookmark to: ...

Drug Treatment Centers Providing Support for the LGBTQ
2008-01-01 08:09:00
Drug Treatment Centers   With over 11,000 drug treatment centers in the United States, you would think more of the drug treatment centers would be focused on the needs of the gay and lesbian community. The drug treatment program services include inpatient drug treatment programs, drug detox, outpatient drug treatment centers and partial hospital programs. There are drug treatment centers that focus on women and men’s issues and adolescents which number in the hundreds, but gay friendly drug treatment programs are far less, while the LGBT community poses a higher incidence of drug addiction and alcoholism.   If you are searching for a drug treatment center that is gay friendly, I suggest you call a national drug treatment helpline with ties to the LGBTQ drug treatment community.  It is not as easy as you think because every drug treatment program will tell you they are gay friendly, but which one’s really are. The staff at this drug treatment helpline has access to those services. For more information you can CALL 1-800-511-9225 for HELP NOW! In addition to the drug treatment program services they provide, the drug treatment helpline will also find you treatment programs you can afford. Not all drug treatment centers are affordable to you. Let them help you find a drug treatment center that is. Bookmark to: ...

Club Drug Addiction in the Gay or Straight Communities
2007-12-30 18:20:53
Club drug addiction can cause serious health problems and even death, especially when used in conjunction with alcohol. Though club drugs may be popular with some teen and young adults in party situations, they also pose real and life-threatening health risks. At an age when many youth may feel invincible, feeling the negative effects of club drugs may come as a shock as true human vulnerabilities to taking illicit substances are exposed and brought to light. The increase of the use of club drugs in the gay community is also on the rise, leading to a higher incidence of club drug addiction. Since so much of the club drug use is found in bars, and so many of the social activities of the gay community center around the bar scene, the consequences are obvious. Club drug addiction is treatable, so FIND TREATMENT NOW!  1-800-511-9225….. Ecstasy, Rohypnol, Ketamine and GHB are the most common club drugs on the scene. Rohypnol is also known as the “date rape” drug and has been implicated in many sexual assaults over the past 5 years teens and young adults are attracted to the club drugs because of the euphoria one may feel when at first taking the substances. Most club drugs are also easy to obtain and cost little compared to other illegal substances, which easily leads to club drug addiction.. Ecstasy (MDMA) is perhaps the most famous of the club drugs, which is both a stimulant and a hallucinogenic. XTC, as it is often referred, is a “hug drug” that loosens inhibitions and gives a feeling of temporary wellbeing, energy, empathy and openness. Ecstasy was legal in the United States before May 31, 1985 as it was used as a designer recreational drug and sometimes in psychotherapeutic settings. The health issues associated with the club drug XTC are primarily the body’s inability to regulate temperature. This can lead to kidney, liver and cardiovascular system failure. Also, users may either drink too much or too little water while takin...

Types of Heroin Addiction Treatment and Opiate Addiction Treatment
2007-12-26 06:52:10
Heroin Addiction Treatment A variety of effective addiction treatment is available for heroin addiction. Heroin addiction treatment tends to be more effective when heroin abuse is identified early. The addiction treatments that follow vary depending on the individual, but methadone, a synthetic opiate that blocks the effects of heroin and eliminates withdrawal symptoms, has a proven record of success for people addicted to heroin. Other pharmaceutical approaches, such as buprenorphine, and many behavioral therapies also are used for the treatment of heroin addiction. Buprenorphine is a recent addition to the array of medications now available for the treatment of heroin addiction and other opiate addictions. This medication is different from methadone in that it offers less risk of addiction and can be prescribed in the privacy of a doctor’s office. Buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) is a combination drug product formulated to minimize abuse. The best situation to administer this medication is within an addiction treatment program for the additional support people need.. Heroin Detoxification or Heroin Detox Heroin detoxification programs aim to achieve safe and humane withdrawal from opiates by minimizing the severity of withdrawal symptoms and other medical complications. The primary objective of a heroin detoxification program is to relieve withdrawal symptoms while patients adjust to a drug-free state. Not in itself a treatment for heroin addiction, heroin detox is a useful step only when it leads into long-term addiction treatment that is either drug-free (residential or outpatient) or uses medications as part of the treatment. The best documented drug-free treatments are the therapeutic community residential programs lasting 3 to 6 months. Heroin addiction treatment programs today, generally last 40 days. Opiate withdrawal is rarely fatal. It is characterized by acute withdrawal symptoms which peak 48 to 72 hours after the last opiate dose and disappear w...

Alcohol Detox Programs and Alcohol Rehab Treatment
2007-12-23 18:14:17
Alcohol Detox Programs If you are suffering from alcoholism and need alcohol detox, you need to find a medical detox program. A medical detox for alcoholism is the best way to ensure your safety during the alcohol withdrawal phase. Trying to go through alcohol detox without medical assistance can be life threatening, so we strongly encourage you to find a safe medical detox program. Alcohol detoxification or medical detox is the first step of the alcohol treatment process, Withdrawal is the term used to describe the body’s reaction to the removal of the alcohol it has become dependent upon. Alcohol detoxification is the first step because until the physical dependency issue is taken care of, no other form of alcohol rehab treatment will work. Through a combination of detox medication and a relaxing and professional environment alcohol detoxification can be easier to tolerate. Until the alcohol detox process is complete, someone is just not ready for alcohol rehab treatment. Therefore, the ultimate goal of medical detox is managing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and assessing the individual’s need for ongoing alcohol rehab treatment.. Methamphetamine, High Risk Behavior and Meth Addiction Treatment Program
2007-12-21 05:10:23
Crank, Speed, Crystal, Ice, Glass, Tina or Methamphetamine are some of the many different street names for Methamphetamine. Methamphetamine abuse and meth addiction is now considered a national epidemic. When Methamphetamine is taken into the body, large surges of dopamine are released in the brain, causing an intense rush of pleasure or prolonged sense of euphoria. Over time, Methamphetamine destroys dopamine receptors, making it nearly impossible for the addict to feel pleasure without it. This causes a vicious cycle of extreme highs under the influence of Methamphetamine and extreme lows without it.  Extended and chronic use can lead to psychotic behaviors, including paranoia, insomnia, anxiety, extreme aggression, delusions, hallucinations, and even death. Powdered Methamphetamine can be snorted, smoked, injected, diluted in drinks and swallowed or eaten whole. There are pill forms of Crystal Meth but are rare and not as widely used as powdered Methamphetamine. One year of Crystal Meth use can cause irreparable damage to the brain and body. One of the more unfavorable behaviors associated with crystal meth addiction is sexual promiscuity. An addict suffering from crystal meth addiction or meth abuse may engage in sexual acts that they normally would not do when sober. The rise in libido when high is quadruple that of the normal, average sex drive. The risky sexual behavior involved with Methamphetamine abuse or meth addiction is one of the leading contributors to the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. The destructive nature of Methamphetamine doesn’t stop with the addict; it stretches to all those around them, affecting loved ones and those close to them. An addict on a Methamphetamine “run” or binge can stay up for days, or in extreme cases, weeks at a time. But eventually, the addict crashes and may sleep for days to recoup the desperately needed rest. During this time, children of the addict are neglected and may find themselves having to fend fo...

Finding Our Addiction Treatment Program
2007-12-17 05:59:14
It is one thing to find addiction treatment, but it is an entirely different story when you are looking for an addiction treatment program capable of treating a gay man or woman. Don’t get me wrong, not that we are sooo special, but when I first went to an addiction treatment program I wasn’t ready to discuss the idea that I might be gay. No way. I was to scared and ashamed. there might have been another gay man or woman for me to speak with, but that was it. The environment was much too intimidating for me. Addiction Treatment Help For me to find the addiction treatment help I needed a friend of mine told me about an addiction helpline. It wasn’t a bad idea because I really didn’t know what to ask as I was too scared to ask the question I needed to. When I called the addiction helpline they asked me a variety of questions which included whether I had a partner who was interested in the family program. I knew what they meant so I said no but I used to. It was th...

Crystal Meth Rehab Convinced Me
2007-12-12 18:56:56
Did you ever think you were in control of something? That you could figure your way out of almost anything, well that is how I felt about crystal meth. It didn’t look like scary and all the people I saw suffering from a crystal meth addiction looked like losers and had to be stupid to let themselves go that far. While in I was in the alcohol rehabilitation program I became convinced that to drink was to die, but I never did enough drugs to really make a difference.  That is why when my crystal meth addiction became apparent I was shocked. Not me!!  Crystal Meth Rehab While I was in crystal meth rehab they explained the disease to me and why I had no chance against using crystal meth casually. I don’t think I had as much a problem with that as I did with my pride and ego. The therapists in this rehab kept telling me that my pride and ego would kill me. That they would keep me from taking complete responsibility. It wasn’t until I competed this drug rehab, relapsed ag...

Lenght of Stay in Drug Addiction Treatment Matters
2007-12-07 09:16:05
A drug treatment program needs to address life issues outside of the drug addiction. Medical, psychiatric, social and legal problems also need to be addressed in order to provide an effective drug treatment program. Because a person’s addiction recovery process does not follow any particular course, drug treatment plans need to be adjusted based on patient progress. Changes in medication, dual diagnosis treatment or questioning one’s sexuality in the gay, lesbian arena are just some examples of changes that may take place in a drug treatment plan.   Drug treatment programs also need to take into account a person’s gender, age and culture in order to provide individualized drug addiction treatment. People with drug addictions need to stay in treatment long enough for treatment to be effective. Drug addiction research has indicated that for most people, a 6-8 stay is the minimum for effective drug addiction treatment. The longer a person stays in addiction treatment the be...

Florida Addiction Treatment Program Helps Me To Be Me
2007-12-06 18:15:14
I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and eventually moved to Orlando. It was in Orlando I began my use of crystal meth, even though I dabbled with cocaine when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale. The main reason I began using drugs in the first place was I was uncomfortable in my own skin. The more uncomfortable I got and the more pressure I felt the more meth I used until I had a crystal meth addiction. Then thing really got bad. Crystal Meth Addiction Treatment  I began stealing and prostituting myself. It became one man after another just to support my meth addiction. What I didn’t realize I was really running from was admitting to myself and claiming that I was gay. I had gotten arrested so many times in Orlando, Florida that I figured if I moved back to Ft. Lauderdale, everything would be fine. Wrong, this judge gave me two choices; jail or crystal meth addiction treatment. Stupid I wasn’t, I took the crystal meth treatment program. It was here my life turned around. Florida A...

Success in a Drug Rehab Program
2007-11-28 06:19:40
Even though my parents had convinced me to attend this drug rehab program, I had all but given up. All I had left was my home and I was seven months behind in my mortgage. Crystal meth was stealing everything I had. Being in an abusive relationship brought me so low the only thing that took the pain away was another blow of meth. It was obvious that my meth addiction was killing me. When I first arrived at this drug rehab facility I tried my best to stay away from everyone. I figured their addiction had made them as sick as me. I thought they would treat me the same way my partner did and I couldn’t stand that. After a few days in this drug rehab facility I began to let my guard down and accept help for my meth addiction. I never in a million years, imagined I could feel so good. I needed help for crystal meth for so long. Attending this drug rehab center has given me my life back. The staff at the drug rehab center has taught me how to stand up for myself, I have gained se...

Gay Drug Addiction Treatment and Substance Abuse
2007-11-25 06:12:07
Gay Drug Addiction Gay drug addiction and crystal meth abuse is especially dangerous because of the close relationship between gay drug addiction, crystal meth, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Gay men are still the highest risk group for HIV, and gay intravenous drug users have two methods of contracting or transmitting the virus, through sexual contact or infected needles. While clearly not all gay addicts are intravenous drug users, gay addiction is still dangerous because drug and alcohol use lowers inhibitions and often results in poor choices that have physical and social consequences. Also of special risk are gay drug user’s especially crystal meth abuse that frequent the “party-n-play” scene, where the likelihood of regrettable sexual choices under the influence is high. These are just a handful of the issues related to gay substance abuse Gay Drug Treatment">Addiction Treatment Gay drug addiction treatment or substance abuse treatment can take on several different ...

Sex Addiction Treatment in a Rehab Center
2007-11-24 16:29:35
Who Suffers From Sexual Addiction? Over 80% of sex addicts report physical, sexual, or psychological abuse in early childhood years.  Many people who become sexual addicts grew up in normal homes, but lacked attention or sufficient affection from loved ones, and later in life sought that affection erroneously through sexual behaviors.  There are a variety of causes for sex addiction, but more surprising is the manner in which sexual addiction affects the lives of addicts.  Many sex addicts lead outwardly normal lives, having a spouse, family, stable jobs, and appear to be normal everyday people.  The reality is for many sex addicts; a secret life of sexual behaviors is putting themselves and their loved ones at risk, and gains more and more dangerous potential with each impulsive act.  Sex addicts are common people and do not stand out with noticeable signs, that may be present in drug or alcohol addiction.  Sex addicts often feel shame and guilt even more so than drug or alcohol...

Texas Alcohol Rehab; Alcohol Rehabilitation and the LGBT
2007-11-21 13:56:21
Alcohol rehab in Texas is provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Texas alcohol rehab also provides dual diagnosis treatment for many of its patients. The aspect of alcohol rehabilitation in Dallas, Ft. Worth or even Houston does not seem to focus heavily on providing compehensive alcohol rehabilitation for the LGBT. Don’t misunderstand me, alcohol rehabs treat the gay and lesbian population but have not really designed programs for them and their partners. Family recovery in an alcohol rehab generally consists of the significant other, mom, dad etc. In the gay and lesbian community it would be focused on the patient and their partner. This is only an issue in the Texas alcohol rehab where other family members have not dealt with their homphobic attitudes, which unfortunately is the majority of the population. It is treatment elements such as this which makes it more productive for alcohol rehabs that provide treatment for the LGBT to carefully look at their recovery needs...
