Discuss With Us
2007-12-25 16:34:49
Discuss With Us is a web2.0 app that is currently still in development, based around the Q&A model we’re all familiar with at this point. Unlike the other Q&A applications we’ve seen, Discuss With Us uses a weighted “passion” system to determine which response suits the question the best. As an example of [...]......

Koonji’s are simply step-by-step guides on almost any subject, you have [...]......

ThinkFree - Online Documents
2007-08-30 08:15:48
I tend to do a lot of my work at home because I like the relaxed working environment, and because I don’t like bringing my laptop to work it usually leads to me sending a lot of e-mails with large attached documents that fill up my e-mail pretty quick (IT hates me :)).  I [...]......

Content Format Change
2007-08-29 01:36:58
As you may have noticed I turned this blogs direction to more of a review site and I’ve done it slowly, but as of now the only thing I post about are going to be web2.0 reviews of web2.0 web applications.  If you’d like a non-biased review from a popular web2.0 blog, then please contact me.......

Text Links Ads Compared to Selling Your Own
2007-08-27 18:54:13
Okay, so this post is in response to the post I made yesterday regarding the change of the Text Link ads referral links to that of TinyURL format links.  I received an e-mail this morning from Alex over at WP Text Ads letting me know about his Wordpress Ads Management plugin that allows you to [...]......

Text Link Ads Changing Referral Links
2007-08-26 03:21:22
I’d like to start off by saying that I really don’t like this.  As most of you people that are already signed up for Text Links may know, TLA has changed their referral link structure to use that of tiny URL (http://tinyurl.com) and will no longer be using the old referral links anymore.  I received [...]......

HTML 5 With New Elements
2007-08-21 09:01:24
Growing up as a geeky little kid born in the 80’s my interests floated around a lot and it wasn’t until I received my first computer at age 9 that I realized where my true interests lie. I eventually got into learning HTML, making simple websites with tables - nothing special, but it kept [...]......

Safari 3: Public Beta for Windows
2007-06-13 07:47:57
Well it looks like Apple finally took the plunge and as of Version 3, the famous Mac browser is now available for Windows XP and Windows Vista.  I took the liberty of installing it on both my work computer and home laptop and must say that it works pretty well on Windows. Although I love Macs [...]......

Baby Name
2007-06-12 09:31:14
Although this is a type of site you usually don’t see me reviewing, I felt it was appropriate as the site itself is a Web2.0 application.  The service is called Nymbler and as you can probably guess, it’s meant to help you choose your baby’s name. The interface is very clean and easy to navigate so [...]......

ReviewMe and the ‘Paid Review’ Model
2007-06-08 19:37:42
Early last month ReviewME added Marketplace Listings in a way to compete with what PayPerPost has offered since it’s conception.  It seemed to be an early semi-success in the beginning and I’m sure ReviewMe only saw it’s popularity increasing.  I decided to go back and check it out, see how many advertisers were taking advantage of [...]......

NoFollow?!?! Not Anymore
2007-06-07 17:46:44
NoFollow was originally introduced to prevent spammers from posting on blogs and getting from free SEO from it, but it obviously hasn’t worked, and those of you with Akismet can attest to that. All NoFollow does is prevents search engine spiders from following links in comments so they won’t actually get any search engine [...]......

PayPerPost Direct
2007-06-07 16:33:19
Well PayPerPost is at it again, this time with direct competitor to ReviewMe called PPP Direct.  Just like ReviewMe’s process advertisers can select specific blogs that they wish to write about their product or service, and in return they get a more targeted form of advertising. Unlike ReviewME, PayPerPost does not offer a marketplace of bloggers, instead [...]......

Windows Live Writer Beta 2
2007-06-06 19:55:26
Just recently Windows has released a Beta 2 version of it’s Windows Live Writer, and all I can say is that it’s about damn time.  When Windows Live Writer was initially released I really enjoyed the idea of being able to blog while not having to actually go to my site to do it, don’t [...]......

IDrive-E Online Backup
2007-06-05 16:03:10
Backing up is one of the most crucial things that any site owner and even computer owner needs to do, yet most of us don’t.  I’ve been guilty of it myself and I’ve lost a lot of important data.  Now in the days of Web 2.0 you don’t even have an excuse anymore not to [...]......

Icon Finder - Revisted
2007-06-04 14:49:05
Update: After a quick e-mail to the creator of IconFinder he informed me that IconFinder will be re-released in late June. Social Web Hosting Directory
2007-05-17 14:20:49
Web Hosting is definitely one of my many passions and anytime I see something that really peaks my interest I like to give you guys a heads up on what it is. I was contacted by a friend of mine with a new site called WH-D which is a social Web Hosting Directory similiar to digg, but strictly for web hosting related information. Although you can read the full press-release here I wanted to take an excerpt out that I found sold me on the idea. WH-D.com allows site visitors to search for web hosting providers serving a multitude of categories, including managed, budget, Linux, Windows, reseller, and VPS hosting. Within each category, visitors are presented with a list of posts for various hosts, and visitors can then vote for posts that they find reliable or helpful. Ultimately, the positioning of each post in the category changes as new votes are submitted, with popular posts quickly reaching the top of the page. “It’s about empowering our users” is what CEO and Co-Fou......

WriteMaps Beta (More Like Easy SiteMap Builder)
2007-05-07 16:23:32
I received an e-mail from Scott over at WriteMaps regarding their SiteMap builder so I wanted to show all you readers how building a Site Map will never be easier with this application. Before I begin I do want to say that this application is not a sitemap generator, it’s simply a better way to build sitemaps the right way, the first time, to save you both time and money. WriteMaps is easy to use with it’s Ajaxy interface and very easy, step-by-step Building process. You create a sitemap by choosing it’s name, and from their you can begin building your sitemap in a couple of different views to help you take the more efficient route. WriteMaps saves as you create so you don’t have to worry about your browser crashing and loosing all of that hard earned work you just put in, and for those of you with large websites you can zoom in and out of your sitemap for easy views and readability. Of course since it’s still in beta it lacks in some of the features I ......

IconFinder - A Webmasters Dream
2007-05-03 15:06:35
You’ll see icons on almost every web page you visit, that’s because graphics often add a whole new dynamic to a webpage that really keeps people coming back as your site appears more friendly and up to date with the times. More often than not when I’m designing a page I know exactly what type of icon I want to use to represent a specific option or product, but I can never find exactly what I want. Well now IconFinder is making the search easier then ever with it’s Icon Search Engine. The webpage itself has a simple design with only a search box and a contact link, but once you enter something to search that’s when the real magic happens. Currently the search has 21711 objects indexed, so that leaves plenty of icons to the imagination. One thing I would like to see is categories on the main page in which I can browse through instead of me already having to know what to look for, browsing through the icons would give me ideas on how I could use specific i......

ReviewMe Adds MarketPlace Listings
2007-05-02 14:53:12
Well it looks like ReviewMe is taking a page out of the PayPerPost book, and all I can say is that it’s about damn time. Most people are familiar with PayPerPost as being the first company that offers advertising opportunities in which publishers (Blog Owners) can be paid for simply making posts on relevant advertising campaigns. This is great for those blogs that aren’t popular (yet!) and need to get started in the reviewing game. Not only with this help you make money easier, but it looks better to other advertisers that you have Sponsored Reviews on your website already. There was a very large different between PayPerPost and ReviewMe up until today and that is that on PayPerPost the Blogger’s were the one’s applying for available opportunities and on ReviewMe, the advertisers come to you! As of today ReviewMe now offers it’s Blogger’s more opportunities with it’s brand new marketplace where advertisers can post opportunities that Blogge......

iGoogle
2007-05-01 17:44:29
As reported over at TechCrunch, Google is re-branding Google Personalized as iGoogle and will be relaunching the service as early as tomorrow. The main reason for this re-branding is due to Google Personalized Pages lacking the good looks, Ajax, and other functionality that other services such as PageFlakes and Yahoo! already offer. Not much has been posted or promoted in regards to this new service except for a few bloggers that were called in by Google to take a look at the new iGoogle so that they may spread the word. ......

ClickTale - Visual Statistics
2007-04-25 14:52:31
Hello everyone, I wanted to tell everyone about ClickTale today. The product is new in the eyes of production as it has just recently gone into beta, but you might have seen it being introduced over at TechCrunch last summer. I’ve been testing it over the last couple of weeks, and oh boy am I impressed. Every single time I look at a recorded visit I’m simply amazed at what I see. Better than any other stats tracking program readily available today can I determine what my visitors are doing when they get to the site, what they click on with which mouse buttons as well as key combinations with the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys. ClickTale allows you to install a small javascript piece of code on your website which actually records mouse locations, clicks, etc.. of your website visitors and let’s you watch them whenever you want. Not only are these recordings shown but you also see general information such as pages viewed, browser, referrer, and last visit. Other info......

Fit Resolution - Workout Plans 2.0
2007-04-20 16:30:27
Obesity is a growing epidemic in North America and is twice as deadly as Cigarettes, Alcoholism, and Drunk-driving combined! Now that I have you thinking I want to introduce you to a new online workout planning system called Fit Resolution. Fit Resolution has just gone into a public beta and is still quite buggy, but the main functionality is there for everyone to use and I’ll give the nod that it looks like a great product/service. We all know how difficult it can be to get in the mood the workout and exercise especially on those days where you just feel so rushed that you can’t possibly get everything done. The problem is that we always have time to workout, we just don’t use that time properly. The key is to have a solid workout plan that we can follow and get finished in the time that we have allotted for that specific event. Taking 30 minutes out of your day to go for a walk or take a run is one of the best things you can do, not only for your weight, but al......

Google Analytics
2007-04-20 16:12:51
I just wanted to bring to light, or back to light as the case may be, Google Analytics, which is google’s stats product formerly known as Urchin. I remember Analytics when it was Urchin and it was a great product then, but since Google has purchased it and made it free it’s received a whole lot more attention, and why should it? A free stats program offered by the biggest internet search company in the world, who wouldn’t want to use this product. It provides your basic stats such as referrers, entry and exit pages, and browser types. It also goes even further then that and can integrate with your adwords account which makes tracking your own campaigns that much better. If you’re looking for an analytics company to help you setting things up than your best bet is to hit up Google, or just click on the link I just posted. The service is free remember, so it really can’t hurt you. This is a paid review ......

Personal Search Syndication
2007-04-18 14:32:00
Personal Search Syndication or PSS is a way of creating search engines on a specific topic for use on your blog or website by simply embedding a form into them, not unlike Rollyo and Yahoo! Search Builder. That patent pending technology behind the PSS software allows you to setup your search engine in a few easy steps by selecting the websites you’d like to search through and the keywords that you want PSS to look for. From there PSS creates a directory of information that your search engine will use, but you can also link to this directory instead of using the search engine. You can no doubt see the value in having a search for your specific niche on your website’s and your visitors will enjoy it too. PSS isn’t as much meant to be used for a local search on your own website, even though it could be used that way, it wouldn’t be the best use of this technology. Check out my Web 2.0 search engine below for testing. Your Search: ......

GigaTribe - Peer 2 Peer On Your Desktop
2007-04-18 03:09:23
GigaTribe, also known as TribalWeb, is a peer 2 peer desktop application that allows you to setup and share files and folders with your friends in a completely safe and secure environment. All you need to do is is have the software installed, both users, and you can add as many friends as you’d like to be able to share with. You can then setup what folders you’d like to share with your friends and they can then browse through those files and download any that they’d like. Due to the fact that the software is P2P there is currently no limit on file sizes which makes this a great alternative for things such as instant messengers, but keep in mind that without the premium version you can only download one file at a time, which for the most part shouldn’t effect you too much. As I stated previously the transfers are completely secure using 128-bit blowfish encryption which means that no one can snoop around and see what you’re transferring. Also, only the ......
