Web Hosting is definitely one of my many passions and anytime I see something that really peaks my interest I like to give you guys a heads up on what it is. I was contacted by a friend of mine with a new site called WH-D which is a social Web Hosting Directory similiar to digg, but strictly for web hosting related information.
Although you can read the full press-release here I wanted to take an excerpt out that I found sold me on the idea.
WH-D.com allows site visitors to search for web hosting providers serving a multitude of categories, including managed, budget, Linux, Windows, reseller, and VPS hosting. Within each category, visitors are presented with a list of posts for various hosts, and visitors can then vote for posts that they find reliable or helpful. Ultimately, the positioning of each post in the category changes as new votes are submitted, with popular posts quickly reaching the top of the page.

I received an e-mail from Scott over at WriteMaps regarding their SiteMap builder so I wanted to show all you readers how building a Site Map will never be easier with this application. Before I begin I do want to say that this application is not a sitemap generator, it’s simply a better way to build sitemaps the right way, the first time, to save you both time and money.
WriteMaps is easy to use with it’s Ajaxy interface and very easy, step-by-step Building process. You create a sitemap by choosing it’s name, and from their you can begin building your sitemap in a couple of different views to help you take the more efficient route. WriteMaps saves as you create so you don’t have to worry about your browser crashing and loosing all of that hard earned work you just put in, and for those of you with large websites you can zoom in and out of your sitemap for easy views and readability.

You’ll see icons on almost every web page you visit, that’s because graphics often add a whole new dynamic to a webpage that really keeps people coming back as your site appears more friendly and up to date with the times. More often than not when I’m designing a page I know exactly what type of icon I want to use to represent a specific option or product, but I can never find exactly what I want.
Well now IconFinder is making the search easier then ever with it’s Icon Search Engine. The webpage itself has a simple design with only a search box and a contact link, but once you enter something to search that’s when the real magic happens. Currently the search has 21711 objects indexed, so that leaves plenty of icons to the imagination.

Well it looks like ReviewMe is taking a page out of the PayPerPost book, and all I can say is that it’s about damn time. Most people are familiar with PayPerPost as being the first company that offers advertising opportunities in which publishers (Blog Owners) can be paid for simply making posts on relevant advertising campaigns. This is great for those blogs that aren’t popular (yet!) and need to get started in the reviewing game. Not only with this help you make money easier, but it looks better to other advertisers that you have Sponsored Reviews on your website already.

As reported over at TechCrunch, Google is re-branding Google Personalized as iGoogle and will be relaunching the service as early as tomorrow. The main reason for this re-branding is due to Google Personalized Pages lacking the good looks, Ajax, and other functionality that other services such as PageFlakes and Yahoo! already offer.
Not much has been posted or promoted in regards to this new service except for a few bloggers that were called in by Google to take a look at the new iGoogle so that they may spread the word.

Hello everyone, I wanted to tell everyone about ClickTale today. The product is new in the eyes of production as it has just recently gone into beta, but you might have seen it being introduced over at TechCrunch last summer. I’ve been testing it over the last couple of weeks, and oh boy am I impressed. Every single time I look at a recorded visit I’m simply amazed at what I see. Better than any other stats tracking program readily available today can I determine what my visitors are doing when they get to the site, what they click on with which mouse buttons as well as key combinations with the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys.
ClickTale allows you to install a small javascript piece of code on your website which actually records mouse locations, clicks, etc.. of your website visitors and let’s you watch them whenever you want. I just wanted to bring to light, or back to light as the case may be, Google Analytics, which is google’s stats product formerly known as Urchin. I remember Analytics when it was Urchin and it was a great product then, but since Google has purchased it and made it free it’s received a whole lot more attention, and why should it? A free stats program offered by the biggest internet search company in the world, who wouldn’t want to use this product.
It provides your basic stats such as referrers, entry and exit pages, and browser types. It also goes even further then that and can integrate with your adwords account which makes tracking your own campaigns that much better. If you’re looking for an analytics company to help you setting things up than your best bet is to hit up Google, or just click on the link I just posted. The service is free remember, so it really can’t hurt you.

Personal Search Syndication or PSS is a way of creating search engines on a specific topic for use on your blog or website by simply embedding a form into them, not unlike Rollyo and Yahoo! Search Builder.
That patent pending technology behind the PSS software allows you to setup your search engine in a few easy steps by selecting the websites you’d like to search through and the keywords that you want PSS to look for. From there PSS creates a directory of information that your search engine will use, but you can also link to this directory instead of using the search engine. You can no doubt see the value in having a search for your specific niche on your website’s and your visitors will enjoy it too.
PSS isn’t as much meant to be used for a local search on your own website, even though it could be used that way, it wouldn’t be the best use of this technology. Check out my Web 2.0 search engine below for testing.

GigaTribe, also known as TribalWeb, is a peer 2 peer desktop application that allows you to setup and share files and folders with your friends in a completely safe and secure environment. All you need to do is is have the software installed, both users, and you can add as many friends as you’d like to be able to share with. You can then setup what folders you’d like to share with your friends and they can then browse through those files and download any that they’d like. Due to the fact that the software is P2P there is currently no limit on file sizes which makes this a great alternative for things such as instant messengers, but keep in mind that without the premium version you can only download one file at a time, which for the most part shouldn’t effect you too much.
