Google has released the final version of Ad Manager, free software that helps smaller online publishers manage their online ad inventory.The tool lets users sell ads, deliver them, and forecast demand. It can deal both with ads on a publisher's site and on affiliated network sites.Ad Manager can be integrated with Google's AdSense service, so Google can display its own ads for any unsold ad inventory.Google said it will share any ad revenue generated with the publishers.

Google has potentially increased its sizable influence over online ad spending by throwing its hat into the increasingly log-jammed world of Internet audience measurement.The company has launched Google Ad Planner, a free product that promises to allow buyers to identify Web sites that match their desired target audiences -- and ultimately guiding them toward where they should spend their clients' dollars. The partnership between Google and Yahoo! has come as a big shock for software major Microsoft. Microsoft had shown interest in buying Yahoo! in January this year when the stock price of Yahoo! was hovering around its 52-week low. Yahoo! declined Microsoft's takeover bid saying that the offer undervalues the company.In an official statement released on Wednesday, Yahoo said that it will test Google's AdSense for two weeks on not more than 3% of its search queries.Brad Smith at Microsoft believes that any agreement between Google and Yahoo! will result in Google's monopoly in the search advertising market.
