Symptoms and Treatments of Diabetes Insipidus
2011-05-22 09:46:01
Diabetes Insipidus ( or DI ) is a health condition that is often distinguished by extreme thirst along with excessively diluted urination . DI is similar in characteristics to untreated Diabetes ( or Diabetes Mellitus) but without the onset of blood glucose elevation. One of the major differences between DI and standard Diabetes is the fact that your urine does not contain glucose. To diagnose Diabetes Insipidus and distinguish it from other possible causes of excessive urination, the patient is given a fluid deprivation test. This test helps find out what is causing the DI and determines the type of Diabetes Insipidus the person has. The test results will determine that one of three causes are to blame medically. Natural Acne Remedies
2011-05-21 21:42:58
There are several health conditions that hinder many people’s lives and outlook everyday. Acne is a condition which can affect your self esteem and your life. I’ve known several friends and family members with terrible cases of acne. They would purchase expensive remedies prescribed by doctors, order products like Proactin from infomercials, and use every product in the skincare aisle at the local drugstore. Nothing would work and they wondered why. Fortunately, I do not suffer from acne, but I only use natural products on my face, which might explain why my complexion has been perfectly clear ever since I was a teenager. Natural remedies for acne are completely free and anyone can do it regardless of skin type. You’re probably thinking why should I believe someone who doesn’t have the same issue as me and I can understand that. Read More: 2 Natural Acne Remedies ...

Linguistic Observations: Mendoza's Gang Girls and Their Typical Day
2011-04-09 22:08:15
Homegirls by Norma Mendoza Denton is a fascinating, and yet, perplexing, view of gangs in the San Francisco Bay area. Over the course of the next few weeks, I'll be providing you incites on the inner workings of the gangs, symbolism of certain material items, and other such related details. As an opening, I'd like to give you a bit of summary on the first chapters. Mendoza-Denton’s fieldwork primarily takes place at Sor Juana High School, located in a suburb of the San Francisco Bay area, surrounded by Euro-Americans. The conversations dive deep into the lives of ‘traditional’ girls who are typically recent immigrants from rural Mexico, Piporras. Urban, middle-class immigrants with a more cosmopolitan attitude called Fresas, and Jocks who align with more mainstream European American philosophies. A clear divide in immigrants and the Euro-American students is seen clearly in the places they eat lunch, the music played in the commons, as well as the cars they drive, which were n...

2011-02-17 22:27:13
Mr. Ghaz says: Muscular dystrophies refer to a group of more than 30 genetic diseases which are characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles..Studies and estimation show that after sustaining a hip fracture (as a result of osteoporosis) 20% of patients die within, one year, 50% cannot walk without assistance while 25% may have to be admitted to nursing care homes..The Musculoskeletal System.Calcium rich food or drinks like milk, cheese and fish should be consumed to maintain healthy and strong bones a) Vitamin D is essential to assist in the absorption of calcium. The other essential mineral for bone strength is phosphorus (taken as phosphate). Vitamin C plays an important role in increasing bone mass (bone density). Increasing bone density prevents osteop...

Reasons to Donate Blood
2011-01-07 21:33:00
Have you ever donated blood? If you have why did you do it? It may have been for a loved one or a friend. It could have been for the free coupons and gift certificates blood centers provide for donations. Maybe you’re required to donate blood being that you’re in the medical field. In actuality, less than 10% of the population has donated blood to the world’s blood centers. Why? Most people say they’ve never been asked. Some say they just need some reminding. Others are deathly afraid of blood or needles. From: Why Donate Blood? 8 Reasons Why You Should Give Blood By Lauren Axelrod...

Don't Quit Your Day Job
2010-11-10 23:01:07
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ashworth College. All opinions are 100% mine. With approximately 4,000,000 students today, more than 20 percent of all students enrolled in higher education are taking at least one course online. Self paced online courses allow students to study during lunch hour or after everyone in your home sleeps at night. There is no more worrying about if you will make it home on time to grab dinner and head out to class. Online College Online courses save parents more money by removing gas, day care, baby sitting and trips to McDonald before class out of the equation. Studies have also shown that tuition for online bachelor degree programs at Ashworth College can be approximately 88 percent cheaper than traditional brick and mortar institutions. Tuition in Ashworth College online degree programs covers all books and course materials.  Ashworth College is quite unique in that there are no student loans to saddle stu...

The Governing Body for Special Education and Its History
2010-11-03 21:34:34
"IDEA mandates that each state be responsible for policy development of a "free and appropriate education for all children with disabilities by local agencies." Although this article is locally written, special education secondary transition funding transcends nationally due to federal policies that all states must follow. Oak Harbor’s Transition Program policy is bound together legally by IDEA. According to Find Law (n.d), “The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is primarily a funding statute.” (¶ 1) IDEA mandates that each state be responsible for policy development of a “free and appropriate education for all children with disabilities by local agencies.” The funding comes from each state’s calculation of the number children with disabilities “between the age...

What is Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)?
2010-10-25 21:39:34
According to Wright & Wright (2006): The definition of “least restrictive environment” did not change in IDEA 2004. Schools are required to educated children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. Judicial decisions about “mainstreaming” and “least restrictive environment” (LRE) vary, even within the same state. (p. 151)School districts have argued for several years that requiring schools to mainstream children with disabilities in general education classrooms is unfair. The School Districts claim that some children with disabilities need personalized instruction that they cannot provide in a transition general education classroom. Wright & Wright, explains that a student has every right to be educated in the same classroom settings as their none disabled peers...

Washington State Fathers Network Annual Conference
2010-10-07 20:39:43
The Fathers Network is a group of men who have children that have a disability. According to Roseberg & Wilcox (2006), “The Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN) has served over 1,000 families in the past 20 years. Founded on the belief that men are crucial in the lives of children, WSFN is a powerful voice for increasing the involvement of men in all aspects of family life, and provides support and resources for all men involved in the life of a child with special health care needs or developmental disabilities.” There are also grandfathers who have taken on the parental role of raising their grandchild with a disability because the parent may not be able or have the coping skills to be a parent. These men are supported in our Fathers Network too. Many of these fathers including m...
