I awoke very early at least for me 9:00 am and descended downstairs for breakfast. I was hungry and I was looking forward to having something typical for an Indian breakfast. I proceeded experimenting with various spicy dishes and continued going back for more, it was all extremely delicious.I was anxious to see New Delhi and only a few people who were up and ready to go. I called Jean because I know that he mentioned the day before that he wanted to go anywhere at anytime. Caio or lighting engineer and his brother Albert who is filming our entire trip in India were also ready to go so we set out to place called, "Qutub Minar".The Qutub Minar is located in a small village called Mehrauli in South delhi It was built by Qutub-ud-din Aybak of the Slave Dynasty, who took possession of Delhi in 1206. The Qutub Minar is also significant for what it represents in the history of Indian culture. It was the first monument built by a Muslim ruler in India. I pretty much lost my mind yesterday when I walked out onto the stage at the Wiltern and looked out at a sea of faces.... I usually get a little nervous before shows but this time, it's like I (for a moment in time) forgot where I was, what I was doing there... I was completely immersed in the moment and it was beautiful.As I started singing my first song, I couldn't help but let my mind wander for a second.. thinking back on all of the times that I've stood out there in the audience and watched some of my favorite musicians on that very stage. For some reason, the theater seems a whole lot smaller when you're the one standing on the stage :)Now, I know that wasn't my most glorious moment. Afterall, I was merely an opener's opener. lol..But still.. there I was, holding my guitar, singing my songs.. at this historic place. What a dream.Thank you so much for the people who were yelling my name and supporting me !!! I totally heard you and I was singing to you ! It's a funny phenomenon but when you're performing, you don't even need to look out - you can just feel where energy is directed at you. I felt it from every corner of the room.. right in front of me, up in the balcony.. so thank you for being a part of that incredible night.I'm about ready to take off on a crazy journey which will take me through quite a few cities in the next few weeks! We've arrived in India after a 22 hour trip, a very long but a very nice trip. We landed on the Delhi airport at midnight and we went straight to the hotel. The city is a mixture of old temples and buildings, old british houses from the times of colonization, small weird taxis that they called "tuktuk", total chaos on traffic, they sell everything at the stop signs, that is, when they stop at the red light. The food is excellent and very spicy. Last night we went to a small fair where they sell local products and I had to be very patitent, saying "NO" at least 50 times. They insist a lot in selling their stuff. But the country is spetacular, an unique experince for sure.Today we will play our first gig over here and the expectations are high. I'm here in Nashville..getting ready for our next gig at the Ryman Theatre tomorrow, which is a magical old venue. I've really enjoyed performing in these small old theatres. They're so beautiful, especially in contrast to the somewhat homogenous architectural style of modernity. The dressings room backstage usually feel like something from" The Shining"...ghosts of decades past...In any case..I seem to have put my back out..again..one of the hazards of life on the road unfortunately.... Damn! Ice pack city.Will be spending the day editing a new video for SING, which is really exciting. I love editing! Especially when it all starts to fall into shape.This is going to be a tiny blog, because I have to get going in a minute.Thanks for all your brilliant posts..So very interesting. This is more a letter to inform than a letter to entertain.The Strength In Numbers tour is over.Tonight, here in Winnipeg will be the last night.Funny enough, we owe tonight's performance to Heart. Two days ago we were about to fly home, it was over. We had no lights, no sound, just a big room and a stage. At such short notice it looked impossible, that's when Heart showed up. They're playing later this week and lent us their stuff for the night. I've always been in love with Heart. Sexy sexy rock goddesses. Now I love them even more.
