GOODBYE TO YOU ALL!
2011-07-15 15:31:47
Dear readers and followers of my blog, Finally I'm able to muster up some guts to announce to all that I'm finally canceling this blog. All my blogs including my husband's blog too. In my 3 year journey as a blogger, my blogging hit a lot of rough roads and some pleasant , smooth rides. Making friends is one of the greatest part of it. Honestly, I thought blogging was all that fun but it was not for me. Of course, to be fair, I had some great moments in blogging. Being able to share my thoughts and find people who share the same and even being lauded are moments that I cherish. But it wasn't all that sunshine and rainbows. However, being heard and read are not the end-all of life's pursuits. I have more important things to attend to. One of them is schooling. This time, school will take mo...

GEEK ALERTS
2011-07-06 21:52:23
I'm not really a techie-savvy type of gal. I don't hate technology nor geeky gadgets but I love to hear and read news about what's the latest stuff available. You know, I am always checking Cool GadgetsCool Gadgets around the web to see if such gizmos fit my needs or those that I would love to toy around. I stumbled upon this great website called Geek Alerts and it has lots of news posts and information about the latest technology, gadgets , devices and doohickies. I'm attracted by the photos and images on this site, and I happened to love it because they are so amazing. I even saw cute tech thingimajigies such as a Doodle Washable cloth and an industrial-looking meat tenderizer. What's more exciting is that they offer promotion codes and online discounts from online retailers which ...

MAKING SENSE OF IT ---ALL OVER THE NET
2011-07-05 21:36:49
(Sorry again grammar-cops....I did not edit my grammar in this post so I recommend you to leave if you're here reading to nitpick my grammar), As thinking human beings, there is a myriad of things that boggle our minds. We try to make sense of things that we perceive from our environment figuring them out so we can adapt and react in the most fitting way. We try to make sense of things that don't, and we ask ourselves why they actually "exist." Lately, in just one week, I had taken bits of information from the internet that really confound my thinking noggin. All of these tell me to understand, but unfortunately, it's incomprehensible. Usually, they are blurted either by ninnies or loonies. You know, people who have spent most of their lives in their "un-social sad pathetic ...

AMERICAN UKAY-UKAY : 2ND HAND THRIFT STORE SHOPPING IN THE U.S.A.
2011-06-27 20:20:49
(IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are somebody who loathes thrift store or 2nd hand store shopping, this post is not for you. Do not think that's just because I buy at thrift stores, my outfits are all hand-me-downs from strangers. And if you think, you're too queasy about your stuff that they should be brand new, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS POST.) You may not understand the word "ukay-ukay," if you're not Filipino. The term describes bargain hunting among piles and piles of used clothes or surplus clothing items from nearby Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Hongkong, Thailand, Singapore and even from the U.S.A. In other words, it is Filipino street lingo for thrift shopping. For a country beset with huge financial woes, Filipinos find a necessary predisposition to ukay-ukay , which lite...

BIDDING FOR SHOPPING
2011-06-24 07:37:32
My husband and I are going to the Philippines next month. He's more excited as his first time. As for me, I'm quite excited because I only have a year to finish my Nursing studies there. As you know, every homecoming is not complete without the gifts to my folks. My brood had enumerated their wish-list asking me to buy them stuff that they want to own. With my savvy-shopping skills, I scour the net for the biggest deals. As I was searching, I stumbled upon this auction site that seems pretty amazing. They sell goods at unbelievably very low prices, as if they are almost giving it away for free. It's called Bidrack. Skeptical as I am, because of the low prices, I checked if it's another sham. It may be a bidrack scam for all I know. So I checked out the entire site especially its &quo...

BREAKFAST GOODIES, FREEBIES, AND AND BLOG MONETIZATION: RANDOM THOUGHTS
2011-06-21 17:08:58
A day without breakfast for me is a day that could be fatal---my engine won't even start revving. If I can't have breakfast before heading to work or school, my stomach will start to grumble even before midday. Hence, I always need to have a COMPLETE breakfast to start my day--rice, fish and eggs, or fried rice, turkey bacon or sausage. Or rice with anything else such as fritata, hash browns, corned beef or even veggies. (Yes, I love veggies for breakfast). Of course, every meal is with rice---I am Filipino. There are a few times, I would vary my breakfast. If I'm not really that hungry, I'd prefer to have yogurt, orange juice, and cinnamon-flavored Quaker Oats oatmeal. In some days, I eat empanadas and an oatmeal with fruits. I used to stock up on Yoplait and I love it. The only Yoplait f...

MY TWO FATHERS
2011-06-18 19:21:05
(APOLOGIES: This post is written in a rush. So for the grammar-cops, just stay away from this. You might find my grammar not in par with your perfect standards. But I plead not guilty.) I have two fathers who are in heaven. One is my earthly father whom I got my looks and good genes, and the other is my Heavenly Father, who brought me life and promises me eternal life. I love both of my fathers. My earthly father died 21 years ago, and I regret that I caused him a lot of heartache and pain when he was still alive. I failed him, I wronged him, I disappointed him and I disobeyed him. Of course, I loved him. I just didn't know how to show that then because, too bad, I was young, stubborn and didn't know anything better other than trying to control everyone around me. When he passed away, I di...

MISSION ORGANIZATION AND SURPRISE NO. 2
2011-06-14 10:19:21
In my previous posts, I had "reported" how badly messy our house was when I came back from the Philippines. It was absolutely a disarray. Blame it on the man on the house left alone for 7 months to fend off for himself while the wife is away. The man who is always cleaning-organizing-challenged and who depends on his wife for housework. Well, to be fair, he did laundry and dish washing. So, after recovering from jet lag for 2 weeks, I rose up to the challenge of cleaning our abode. Scrubbing it until squeaky clean and polishing it until it shines. Organizing was another story. It was an enormous task because the man in the house had difficulties in letting go of junk. But I was able to persuade him to get rid of them. The closets were always hard to transform to " tidy and n...

WHAT DO AMERICANS THINK OF FILIPINOS? (CONCEIVED NOTIONS & IMAGES OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE)
2011-06-09 15:23:55
Foreword; For this week's post, I was pretty sure I was going to write about Filipino -American recipes in time for the Philippine Independence Day on the 12th. The idea was botched. I realized we are still eating left-overs from our Monday dinner. So there will be no cooking till tonight and no pictures to show on this post. So, I came up with writing an article about Philippine statehood instead. But the idea seems to be a daunting task. It is besmirched with political issues and I try to veer away from such if I don't have enough facts. I started to do some research, but there's a lot to take in before I post about it. So, I shelved it, putting in on queue on my dashboard. Maybe next time, I'll post it. Instead, I came up with this. Though this matter has been touched quite a few times ...
