Passion for Success
2012-05-21 09:13:00
Most of us, if not all of us, want to succeed. That is a fact! We all want to achieve our goals in life. We all want to fulfill our checklist that in most cases no one would understand but our self. Along with this journey, there is one important ingredient that we must possess and that is passion. While we may get results in the short term without having passion, in the long term it makes the difference between achieving success and failing.  Passion comes from the ancient Greek verb “paskho” meaning to suffer. Passion is an intense emotion compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for something. Passion means doing what you love doing it even if it won’t cost you anything.   When we are passionate about what we do, our passion will show up in our work. Passion is shown in Michael Jordan who loves basketball, Tiger Woods who loves golf, Donald Trump who has great passion in real-estate, Bill Gates who loves software and Warren Buffet who has intense passio...

Philippine Airlines Closes The Deal To Sell Shares To San Miguel Corporation
2012-04-05 02:54:00
Last January, I wrote a blog post regarding the possibility of San Miguel Corporation Buying Shares of Philippine Airlines.  Just around three months after, a final deal was made known to the public, Philippine Airlines sells around 49% of its stake to San Miguel Corporation. According to the news, "San Miguel president Ramon Ang said the $500-million investment had bought his company a 49-percent stake in PAL and its low-cost offshoot, Airphil Express". Will this mean a price increase in the shares of stocks for Philippine Airlines and San Miguel Corporation brought about by the markets strong support of SMC's PAL acquisition? Or will this result to a turnaround? Let's find out!  Share your ideas here. Again, here's the link to my personal opinion/reaction. Just click here. Also, here's the link from Yahoo News Philippines regarding the details of the acquisition. Philippine Airlines sells minority stake to San Miguel. Photo: From the wires. ...

I Choose Philippines! Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas - Share The Fun :)
2012-03-17 23:25:00
Just this morning I had the chance to seat in front of our TV watching Kuya Kim's show in ABS-CBN entitled "Matanglawin". It was during the break when I saw the promotional video of Choose Philippines entitled "Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas" for the second time, first was when it was shown by the time it was launched at ASAP. Maybe most of you had seen this already many times but as I had my review of this ad, I was really moved while watching this campaign (and thus I blog). It made me realize how beautiful the Philippines is (more than what I imagine) and now I have my long list of beautiful places to (hopefully) visit and relax (if budget allows) amidst busy and draining schedules. Have one, its worth of your time (just list it down, who knows?).  Choose Philippines, known to be the country’s first-ever social and travel networking site, spearheaded the  “i Choose” campaign to support the government’s “More Fun in the Philippines” project. This video basic...

Two Lives Two Hearts Joined Together In Friendship United Forever In Love
2012-02-13 16:45:00
I intentionally reserved this post for today and that is because today we are celebrating the second most popular day of the year, Valentine’s Day. This day becomes ever more special for the two individuals who recently bind each other through their vows as they will celebrate this day as their first valentine’s day together as a couple. Short Recall on Friendship: I am talking about a close friend (one of the few), whom I have kept and remain special in my heart for almost 11 years now. Yes, that’s more than a decade. She is one of those whom I entrusted some stories of my life that most of you might find meaningless and boring. Yet for 11 years, she patiently listens and responded as if it was the most interesting topic to talk about. Everyone, I want you to meet Rena Kiamco Villamor-Buntoyan. A person I have included in my short list of friends since my junior year in CSCST-CFT (now CTU) in Carmen (northern part of Cebu Province).  Years passed, and of course some th...

MV Logos Hope: World’s Largest Floating Book Fair
2012-02-05 06:24:00
Few weeks ago, I was with some of my close IE friends and we got the chance to visit the newest floating library, the MV Logos Hope. In my case, this is not my first time to visit a floating library since I was able to get inside the older MV Doulos few years back. Yet, this experience is still memorable since this is my first time to witness a cultural show while inside the ship. Logos Hope replaced MV Doulos which was a frequent visitor to Cebu before it retired due to old age. Cebu is the first stop of the MV Logos Hope in the Philippines although they will be visiting Manila and Subic Bay in the next few months. Timeline Crew members and volunteers welcomed guests with flags and national costumes from over 45 countries around the world with about 400 members. The overall book carrying capacity of the library is around 1100 cubic metres filled with various types ranging from inspirational, textbooks, engineering, medical, accounting, spiritual, even audio books and a lot mo...

Coca-Cola Philippines Celebrates 100 Years – “Ituloy ang Happiness”
2012-02-04 21:23:00
The year 2012 is very significant for Coca-Cola Philippines as they will celebrate its 100 years in the industry.  Coke already becomes part of the daily life of most people especially Filipinos. As observed, Coke is always present in the table of most families during custom celebrations like Sinulog, Barangay Fiesta, Wedding Reception, Debuts and Birthday Parties,  and even in the daily food preparation at home – breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner. Indeed Coke has touched lives in a simple yet remarkable way that is somewhat difficult to explain but definitely the reason why they stayed in the industry through all these years.  Short Fact: Since Coca-Cola was introduced to the Philippines in 1912 from the Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and for about 26 years of being an iconic brand in the US, Coca-Cola has been quenching the thirst of every Filipino from being a simple carbonated soft drink which is available in every corner of the country to be...

San Miguel Corporation Buying Shares of Philippine Airlines - Personal Note
2012-01-22 02:38:00
This is just my personal note about the possibility of San Miguel Corporation buying Philippine Airlines and this does not mean taking side in any of this well respected company. Just a reaction - A personal opinion. San Miguel Corporation Logo I have been working in San Miguel for more than 4 years already and I feel that I am blessed to be part of this company. Most of the people might think that this is my primary reason why I chose this article but the fact is I feel that this is a big ongoing issue in the real business world that people will be talking about. If the acquisition is really true then it means big time. Here are several economic implications that I can see upon this possible acquisition of  Philippine Airlines: In terms of money supply, the acquisition would mean  Philippine Airlines will be able to increase their market capitalization and can now afford new products and equipment.  Philippine Airlines really needs equity for them to grow de...

Managing Oneself! - Mr. Peter F. Drucker
2011-11-19 06:44:00
Success usually comes to those who know themselves – their strengths, their values, and how they best perform. This is what this article is all about. As written by Peter Drucker, history’s great men became great because they perfectly know there capabilities and they understand where they best work at. With these they are able to maximize their potential and become great in their individual endeavors.     Knowing oneself before knowing others and placing oneself in an area where it can best work is the ultimate purpose of this article. But how can we evaluate measures that will tell us what we are capable of? First know your strengths. Identifying a particular ability that one can do better than the rest and maximizing this advantage while at the same time developing what you consider as your weaknesses. This can be done through a feedback analysis wherein one will keep track his progress over time against what is w...
