Where is the glamour!
2008-09-18 14:36:00
One thing is true ; I am very selective and very few shows attract me to watch let alone to follow daily , but I am starting to like this new drama series called Laysa Saraban , it deals with a new subject which is inter-religion marriage along side other important issues that need to be addressed in our society. It is a sign that we are starting to be more diverse and broaden the issues that we tackle , that way more people can relate to what they see on T.V and it is getting good reactions from viewers online. On thing that I put a great value on is the aesthetic value ; that is besides the artistic value in terms of good story line ,good acting and directing ,the ambience should reflect glamour and I stress the word glamour ,choosing the locations and getting the lightening right also is ...

no Chrome for us
2008-09-14 13:13:00
so upon hearing of the new web browser launched by Google , I decided to give it a try ,I went to the website : www.google.com/chromeand I had this error message :The requested URL /service/prod_unavailable.html was not found on this server.at first I thought there was actually something wrong with some server thingie , but then I read this post ,and all became clear again .it seems that our friends in Google corp. have decided or agreed to withhold their services from syrian users as part of the embargo by the U.S government against Syria.I believe this is very unfortunate ,just the other day I was discovering how Google translator is proving to be a very useful tool , I just wish that this will change soon and the services of google could be accessed from Syria as any other country .as f...

keeping the contact list alive
2008-09-11 12:30:00
I am sure many of you have some numbers on their mobile phone that belong to people they have met and don't call anymore ,or even never called them in the first place ,I know I do ,they maybe people you had planned to do something with and didn't have the time or you simply forget to follow on .nevertheless, I have found this new fondness of contacting people I made their acquaintance , be it to check on them , to know their news or to invite them to an activity ,or to re launch the project that got us together in the first place .all around the year I would be following cultural events and activities and I was beginning to get more people abroad , actually I regularly get asked about what I am attending and what are the latest news, because my friends always know I am up to something ,thi...

the grace period is over -khalsit fatret alsama7
2008-09-09 06:25:00
in political science it is known that a new president or a new government when first it is formed have a break from criticism and nagging because it has been just taken power and people are waiting to see what it is going to do, that period is known as a grace period , fatret sama7.of course our government is living in an endless period of grace ,mashallah lol.the great thing is that one can have grace periods in his life as well, for example when you succeed in college or you pass class you have a break from studying and when you find a job you take a break from parent's nagging and the pressure of society .and also when you accomplish something that makes you proud of yourself and as a plus you can reward yourself with something you always wanted to do or buy and you haven't time or was ...

Arabic Teaching for Foreigners
2008-09-07 06:28:00
I have been meeting with many foreigners especially Americans who are learning the Arabic language ,actually damascus is becoming an attractive place for learners of the Arabic language.some I have met didn't know of the Arabic language center which is part of the Language Institute at the University of Damascus ,so I thought of writing this post for all people out there who live in Syria and want to learn the Arabic language .moreover their is an interest in learning the Syrian dialect as it is the closest to standard Arabic and because it is widespread also ( can I use the success of Noor and Sanawat aldayaa as an example:) ,you can download a book called Syrian Colloquial Arabic, a Functional Course here .I think it is an excellent opportunity to promote cultural understanding ,as we a...

A modern art museum …are you kidding me!
2008-09-06 07:15:00
The reason that caused me to write this post is a job ad I saw in Alwaseela , it reads : "job opportunity at the Syria Trust for Development" the job is for an Administrative Co-ordinator for the Modern Art Museum Project and here is a description from the ad :The Modern Art Museum Project/Syria is responsible to conceptualise, design and realize the creation of a Modern Arts Museum in Syria which will stimulate imagination and creativity and promote art appreciation by housing treasures of the past century and bring them into a relationship with people in the present and become a hub for contemporary movements in modern arts. Now all that seems nice , or does it?!First of all what do we know about modern art, even though I have read about modern art I don't feel entitled to consider myself...

How to convince the authorities to stop blocking websites
2008-09-03 12:41:00
I have devised this plan to get the people in charge to let us alone and unblock the websites we use regularly, it consists of four simple points ,getting every blogger or user of YouTube or Facebook to go along with it is the challenge.First of all we have to suspend discussion of all matters of political nature ,I think this shouldn't be that hard given that virtually no one really write any thing of political substance .Secondly ,we have to prove that we all are loyal to the government ,that also is not so difficult since the people's assembly which we "elected" approve of everything the government do or say.Thirdly : we have to show the world that we love our government by starting to praise them more ,that should be easy just look around and see the achievements in every field. Here ...

the job interview that went well
2008-09-03 04:36:00
it is often thought of blogging as an activity that is just for fun or at least that it is unlikely to yield benefits in one's life, however the interview I had two days ago proved that blogging can influence one's life professionally even though in an indirect way.the company I applied for a job in is a big distributor of electronical devices and merchandise especially digital cameras and camcoders so expertise in digital photography is a plus for the position I applied for and where did I get that expertise, yes it is from my interest in blogging that led me to buy my digital camera and start taking photos for my blog and using related computer programs for editing them ,so I left a good impression that showed my interest and knowledge in the field of the company business .on another not...

2008-08-31 05:02:00
happy blogday for all bloggers, I know I have been falling behind in terms of writing posts and news , nothing big is going on ,except the fact that I missed the Jazz Lives in Syria 2008 festival because I had this stupid exams in my college that are for students that haven't passed all their exams in order to graduate .this year it is organized by the Syrian Trust of Development and from what I learned from my friends it seems to be going on well even though we have rain in the first three days of the festival ,if the had delayed it for three days I would have been able to go :(anyway this is my second blogday post ,so the rules are to post a list of five blogs that you find interesting ,I thought to include some of the blogs I regularly read for the past period and that I find to have gr...
