The hit to the head of Max Pacioretty led me to reflect on what has happened to our sacred game. Hockey today reminds me of the Roman gladiators who were enclosed in an arena with their weapons and armour. The last man standing was the victor.
Today's small ice surface with 12 heavily protected men, some measuring 6'9", skating at lightning speed, is tempting fate. Hockey is a game of speed and skill, and players must react in fractions of a second. The league can only do so much. We might need bigger ice surfaces and stricter rules, but ultimately it is up to the players to respect their opponents and exercise some self-control.
Otherwise the next victim might not be as lucky as Max Pacioretty.

Later this year, Nintendo will release a product that could be called the gaming world's most exciting technology to date.
The Nintendo 3DS is a glasses-free Nintendo DS gaming system that will be released on March 27. "Nintendo 3DS includes two screens. The top screen displays 3-D visuals to the naked eye. Nintendo announced the system's suggested retail price of $249.99, though Nilay Patel of engadget.com claims that testers thought it was worth between $300 and $400.
More than a million Americans will experience 3DS first hand through the summer," said Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo, at the 3DS press preview event.

After using Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors since its launch, the svelte notebook will be updated to the latest Sandy Bridge CPUs, which should allow the MacBook Air to run faster and eek out even more battery life. This update should follow the long-awaited upgrade to the MacBook Pros with beefier Sandy Bridge processors, supposedly due next month.
While the MacBook Pro refresh could be delayed as part of the fallout from the flaw found in the chipset used with Sandy Bridge CPUs, the June timeline for the MacBook Air update shouldn’t be affected.

Dell fans in the UK can now end their wait for the convertible they were looking forward to own! Come February, and the Dell Inspiron Duo convertible hybrid netbook/tablet will hop on to the Three network in the UK. The tablet powered by Intel’s dual-core 1.5GHz Atom N550, is a Windows 7-based device that doubles up as a tablet or a netbook – whichever way you want it.
Carrier Three is expected to bring forth to customers the 3G-enabled version of the hybrid device. Though a February launch is being spoken about, no exact date has been forthcoming from the UK carrier. Three has also not revealed the pricing.
The Dell Inspiron Duo convertible hybrid netbook/tablet comes as a fairly chunky piece with weight on the higher side compared to other netbooks. The keyboard could be a reason, we guess. Baby Yoga, to me, is really postpartum yoga for moms. You bring your baby and all the babies just kinda roll around on the floor and explore their new abilities, while the moms get some much needed stretching and strengthening between feedings.
I finally watched that crazy ridiculous baby yoga video that’s been swirling around the interwebs for the past couple of weeks. This is nuts.
I couldn’t even watch the whole thing, it was too freaky. I’m no yoga expert, but I’ve taken yoga on and off for the last twenty years. I really don’t see anything ‘yogic’ about this video. I do think that babies are probably more durable than we give them credit for, but this just seems downright dangerous. Besides the fact that the ‘instructor’ seems to almost drop this two-week-old numerous times, we all know that babies this little have no neck control, so wouldn’t this be harmful just in that respect?

Like many Americans, I was absolutely shocked last week when Keith Olbermann abruptly announced that he was leaving his “Countdown” show on MSNBC. With no advanced warning MSNBC’s highest rated show and most popular personality was leaving the small screen. Olbermann’s departure brings us some serious questions about the future of the MSNBC network but more importantly the future of the progressive left on cable news networks.
“Countdown” with Keith Olbermann premiered on MSNBC eight years ago and had steadily gained in popularity, viewers and influence from day one. Olbermann, who had previous stints at ESPN and MSNBC seemed to have finally found his niche with a show that was political, witty and the most overused of commentary phrases ‘irreverent’. “The Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” are great but the hosts will readily admit these shows are comedy first and news commentary second.
