When We Have To Stay Overnight...
2008-05-28 08:13:00
Some of the world’s best airports these days are trying to change the way we travel. Many of these airports aspired to transcend beyond being just mere hubs, and instead worked to becoming more like upscale malls, offering services and distractions like swimming pools and fitness clubs, expansive shopping facilities, play areas for children, first-rate hotels for overnights and in some cases, even fine art. Some of these places are starting to attract people who don’t even have a plane to catch. It is becoming increasingly clear that an airport which aspires to improve the level of comfort and convenience for the passengers who travel through it will have an advantage over those that do not.The following airports are voted as the current world's best layover or overnight stay for worl...

Will Your Display Catch Our Attention?
2008-05-18 16:03:00
I love trade fairs. Whenever I have the chance I make it a point to attend one, especially those held in the malls and which are open to the public. I find them exciting because I get to see not only new products or incoming services, but it gives me the opportunity to see the new market trends as well. For exhibitor companies, trade shows are one of the best ways to showcase their products or services, and a means to check what their competitors are coming up with. The exhibitors in trade fairs are thus tasked to impress the viewing public in order to generate interests and attract new customers. People are usually drawn towards attractive booths and accommodating personnel. Which is why it is important for trade fairs participants to mount good trade show disp...

In Search For A Real Estate Property
2008-05-04 15:54:00
The nice thing I have observed about Estate">real estate websites today is that most of them are now capable of showing 3 dimensional views of featured properties. A virtual visit is something quite practical these days. For one, it is less costly than an actual visit (especially during the initial or searching stage). Whether one is buying a house or a commercial building is no mean feat, and it requires a lot of research and patience to find the ideal real estate property that will fit the buyer’s budget, needs and wishlist (say for example an oceanfront luxury condo). Thus, it is not advisable to rush to the first interesting property on the classified ads. Instead potential buyers ...

In Search Of Alternative Fuel...
2008-05-02 04:01:00
General Motors calls it one answer to the problem of America's heavy dependence on foreign oil - Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles. The cars - still in development - use no petroleum and release zero greenhouse gases. They will be test driven for the next two months by about a hundred motorists in Washington, New York and Southern California - as part GM's "Project Driveway."...

Teaching The Kids About The Effect of Climate Changes
2008-04-28 15:12:00
A museum exhibition in London offers an interactive vision of how climate change might shape the planet in 2050. By using the kind of visual stimulation usually found in an arcade, organisers hope to convey a serious message about the environment. It surely is difficult to explain to our kids that our present lifestyle is causing damage to the very world we live in. How can we ever try to retrace back to the times where there were no TV's, cellphones, or even cars. Can we ask them or anybody for that matter to give up conveniences like heater and airconditioners so that we can save an ailing planet? Very difficult indeed... But then in life we have to make difficult choices....

Sure To Affect Our Lives!
2008-04-28 13:35:00
Every time there is a change in oil prices, we get the shivers here in our country because for sure the transportation sector would demand for increase in transport fares. The effect would be a corresponding increase in basic food prices like meat and vegetables. Then the supermarkets will hike their prices, and eventually even the schools. The ripples will continue until the very last person standing will feel the pinch. I hope the government will push for more concerted efforts to shift from heavy reliance on oil to other alternative energy sources. I think we are having a wake up call here and it is time to heed the call!...

Do you have the heart to carve the mountains and cut down the trees...Just so you could get this view?Must we wait for the rains to come...To be reminded that nature has its own harsh way of lashing back...Poverty should never be an excuse not to take care of our environment! Each and everyone of us - regardless of age, gender, and status in life should feel responsible and must share in the responsibility of keeping our world clean and green. We have a legacy to keep - that is to nurture the legacy of loving our home, Mother Earth... Please pass this on to our children, so that they may still have a home in the future!Happy Earth Day!Photo credits: Google...

Gadgets Box
2008-04-18 00:16:00
I've added a little box for hot new gadgets too. I'm not much of a techie so I guess it just might stay for a little while only. I'm not actually a big fan of miniature gadgets (noticed they get smaller and smaller every year?), because I still go for the big sizes ( components with big booming earth shattering sounds and large as in super laaarge TV's). But I must admit that these new gadgets on the markets are quite practical and useful too. So who am I to argue?... By the way I placed the box a little above My Beauty Shop (somewhere below in my blog)....

My Beauty Shop
2008-04-16 03:10:00
I have this weakness for scents. If I have my way I would buy every brand-new scent that comes out in the market. But alas I find most of them expensive, so they are tucked away as luxuries for me. I may indulge in buying one every now and then but that’s about it, because I stand to sacrifice other loves like shoes, bags, and books (to name a few… ughhh!) if I gave in totally to this weakness. However this does not stop me from looking still for new products that come out in the market. If we share the same sentiments, I would like to invite you to take a peek in My Beauty Shop, located below in my blog just above My Music and My Bookshelf. ...

New Titles On My Bookshelf!
2008-04-15 11:26:00
"Life makes no sense sometimes. People take drugs, have unprotected sex and mug each other. Some neighborhoods thrive, others become ghettos. Incompetent workers get ahead while good ones are left behind. It all seems so illogical—but is it? In The Logic Of Life, Tim Harford reveals that, despite their seemingly crazy actions, most people are quite rational, responding to hidden incentives in subtle and entirely logical ways. Harford harnesses the power of so-called “rational choice theory,” which he and other economists are using to unlock everyday mysteries.""From the former Prime Minister of Pakistan—who finished this book just days before her assassination—comes a bold vision for how to bridge the widening gap between the Islamic world and the West. Drawn from Bhutto’s ex...

Travel: World's Best First Class
2008-04-12 12:01:00
At a time when some carriers have eliminated first class altogether (in order to focus on business class), 35 others have not only kept it, but kicked it up a gilded notch. The ones keeping it are striving for "that wow factor." Right now, first-class is all about creating an over-the-top experience for passengers. It may not be exactly like staying in a five-star hotel--after all, there are no king-size beds and Jacuzzis on board--but with all its lavish amenities, first-class flying comes pretty close.Qatar AirwaysFlying first-class here means access to a separate terminal in Doha that mimics a five-star hotel with several fine-dining restaurants, a medical center, and a spa with sauna and Jacuzzi. On board passengers get caviar service, full-size pillows, white linen mattresses, Austral...

Tranquil Oasis
2008-04-09 02:27:00
With so much demand from work or family activities, it is difficult to find some moments to relax from stress. We feel we sorely need a tranquil oasis to soothe frayed nerves at the end of a very demanding day. Water has always been considered nurturing and soothing. There's nothing like a cool dip in a deep blue swimming pool - especially on a hot summer day... to relax us. However, much as many people would love having a swimming pool, having one is a luxury only a few could actually afford. For the few lucky homeowners, a pool can not only enhance a house, it can also become an important activity area for family and friends. Let's take a look at some of these dreamy oasis... and wish we could have any one of those ...

2008-03-17 21:27:00
BECAUSE I often have to catch a pre-dawn bus to get to my job, I was concerned that I wasn't always visible to bus drivers in the darkness. So I attached a reflector to my lunch box and put on a jogger's vest that was bright orange and had small flashing lights. The first morning I wore my new gear, the bus zoomed past but then stopped. I ran to catch up with it and, as I boarded, asked the driver, "Didn't you see me?" "I saw you," he replied, "but I thought you were a road sign."-- Contributed to Reader's Digest "Life In These United States" by Jim ManookinPhoto Credit: Google Images...

Cenote - A Mystery
2008-03-13 13:36:00
Ever heard of Cenote? They are deep underground water-filled-sinkholes that lies east of the major Chichén Itzá ruins, a dark underground world the Mayans called Cenoté. At present times, one goes to Cenote through a vertical hole with narrow stair steps (carved by the Mayans themselves) with slimy ledges that could plunge you deep over 20 feet below if you will not be careful. After you've crawled under some especially low hanging stalactites, a beautiful blue green pool of unknown depth stretches out before you. Every once in a year a rare event happens, sometime in April you might experience a sight to behold! A piercing beam of light streams in from the ceiling and touches the tip of a massive stalagtite which hangs down just inches from touching the surface, illuminating the pool an...

The Youngest Country On Earth
2007-12-14 22:54:00
Multi-cultural, diverse, stunning, pristine, young… These are just some of the words used to describe New Zealand. I have a lot of friends, former officemates, who have moved to New Zealand together with their families, to work and live there. They have described the country so beautifully that I begun to develop a romantic affinity over the place. According to them pictures could not even do justice to the beauty of its landscapes. Dubbed as the youngest country on earth because it was the last land mass to be discovered, New Zealand’s awesome landscapes, lush forests, amazing wildlife and pleasant climate make it a haven for many outdoor activities, and a great place to unwind. In fact UNESCO has recognized 3 ...

Antarctic Skies...
2007-12-09 04:31:00
A rare and spectacular cloud formation appeared at the end of the polar night at Australia’s Mawson station in Antarctica. These so-called nacreous clouds were situated high in the stratosphere, some 20km above the ground, and indicate extremely cold temperatures in the rarefied atmosphere. The weather balloon measured temperatures down to -87˚C in the vicinity of the cloud layer. That’s about as cold as the lowest temperatures ever recorded on the surface of the Earth. Amazingly, the winds at this height were blowing at nearly 230 kilometres per hour. Clouds this spectacular are seldom seen. Our nearest star, the Sun, from a distance of 150,000,000 kilometres, provides us with light and warmth and from time to time a magnificent nighttime ‘laser...

2007-11-27 22:39:00
Are you someone who is fascinated by ancient cities? Here is one - Petra, JordanPetra, an ancient rock city in present-day Jordan, known to the Arabs as Wadi Musa because of the stream that flows through it, was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom until its defeat by the Romans in AD 106. It then became part of the Roman province of Arabia. After several centuries as a flourishing trade centre, it declined with the shifting of trade routes away from the city. It was captured by the Muslims in the 7th century. Its ruins were rediscovered in 1812 by the Swiss traveler Johann L. Burckhardt. Excavations since the mid-20th century have revealed many rock-cut monuments, including tombs with elabor...

What inspires a visit to Spain? Take a look at 4 of its most visited cities…Madrid is the capital of Spain, and its largest city. The one thing that is impressive about this city is that it has been able to preserve old world charm by maintaining its artistic heritage (the legacy of centuries of fascinating history), and blending them with the new urban infrastructures to become one of the world’s most vibrant modern cities and a popular travelers’ destination. It is also likely to be most people's starting point for a Spanish vacation (the other likely starting point being Barcelona). Advertising MediaGoogle, Yahoo!, MSN have changed advertising forever. Now, advertisers can get right to their target audiences. Web ads are cheaper and also more exact. The advertisers have the option to pay only when people look.Travel Priceline.com lets people bid on airline tickets, but what really brought down prices on airline tickets, rental cars and hotel rooms was the price transparency. Every prospective traveler soon got the same information that previously, only travel agents had. That means that last-minute deals on unsold airline seats and unbooked hotel rooms are now up for grabs. Bon voyage.Software This change arrived slower than people anticipated. First, people bought software in stores and installed it at home. Now, folks download software. But the big change is fro...

Thinking Of The Future
2007-11-09 00:23:00
One of the things that technology and internet brought to our lives is that it has revolutionized the way products and services are being marketed, sold and delivered. In the past we would as consumers have to go to a store or office in order to get information on a product or service, or perhaps to buy a product or pay a service. Sure there are mail orders and home deliveries, but we do our sourcing and shopping on an individual store or office basis. In the recent years however, with the aid of personal computers, we can now easily search for products and services in the internet malls or internet shops right inside our homes at the convenience of our fingertips, and cover as many companies as we like. Beautiful isn’t it?Take for example buying an insurance. By now, we have alread...

A Chilling Experience !
2007-11-05 16:13:00
There is a hotel in Sweden that is built in winter, disassembled, and then reassembled again on the following year. The hotel when reassembled each year comes fresh with a different new design. The reason – it is totally made of ICE! Because of its gaining popularity, quite a number of rooms are made. It even boasts of an Absolut Bar, and a chapel! The Ice Hotel near the village of Jukkasjarvi, in Sweden, is the first and perhaps the most popular among the ice hotels. In tribute, some hotels in different cities of the world like London, Stockholm, and Tokyo have Absolut bars totally made of ice too.For someone like me who has been born under hot sunny skies, a stay here is going to be one unique and novel experience. | Taking Care of Your Pearls... |
2007-11-02 06:48:00
Pearls are becoming more and more popular with the younger women these days. It has evolved into a versatile jewelry and women are wearing them not only with their formal evening dresses but with their jeans and blouses as well. It is not uncommon to see pearls being worn everyday. Here are some suggestions to keep your pearls in pristine conditions: 1. After each wear, gently wipe your pearls with a soft damp cloth. If possible, no commercial jewelry cleaner please, unless it is specified for pearls. 2. In case of food spillage, pearls should be cleaned immediately. Again use a soft damp cloth and dry with a clean cloth after. 3. Avoid chemical contamination (like perfumes, and hair spray), since they can cause the pearls luster to become dull. It is advisable to wear th...
