Review: Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army
2008-07-17 00:57:04
The director is absolutely amazing. Guillermo Del Toro is one of the most imaginative and creative individuals around and he is a prime model of how a filmmaker should be. He is one that remembers his dreams or nightmares, be it at childhood or adulthood, and transfers them into his movies with creative relish. Every wonderment, horror, curiosity or pleasure is ripped from his subconscious and are revealed in celluloid form for all to savor. His past films such as ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ as director and ‘ El Orfanato’ or ‘The Orphanage’ as producer, both in Spanish, are prime examples of his artistic and inspired palette. Both great films that intertwines fantasy with reality aided by a touch of horror, these films are modern classics that I guarantee will not disappoint even the m...

EPILOGUE: (Belated) Birthday Surprise @ Home !!!
2008-07-14 00:13:38
Just wanna mention abit more about THAT birthday surprise weekend. As you may already have known in my previous blog postings, I was ambushed and bombed by almost 100 water balloons in my own damn home. Not only that, I was rained with cold water and smeared with yucky slices of cakes. But I’m not pissed, I’m not angry….no way. It was all for fun right? Right….*cough* Anyway, there was a birthday cake for me and all so it was definitely fun and thoroughly memorable. Again, thanks guys. But that’s not all that had happened during my time back in KL from 21st June to 22nd June. The very next day, V (yes, V) and Prasad took me and SL out to have some ‘celebrations’ of sorts as well. V and Prasad had been asking for a lunchie or dinner for ages ...

Review: Hancock
2008-07-10 20:38:00
Even before 'Hancock' went into production (with a earlier title of 'Tonight He Comes'), news of its fresh and innovation script that takes on a much more alternative perspective at a superhero attracted much innovative praise. Never once Hollywood had done a film on a hero that “don’t give a f**k” about who he is or what he is supposed to do. He is simply him and just wants to get on with his life as he sees fit. Although this kind of angle has been done to death in the comics world, but in Hollywood is still deemed fresh. As such, the script attracted a major movie studio to finance it with mega-big-bucks, attracted a major star to play the main character, and attracted a much-acclaimed director to wave his celluloid wand to bring us superhero magic. How can anything possibly go wr...

PROLOGUE: (Belated) Birthday Surprise @ Home!!!
2008-07-09 19:44:07
Just wanna share with everyone just how those people planned my birthday surprise attack at my home that resulted in me being bombarded with water balloons, smelly cakes and cold water. It all started with a sneeky thread in Facebook...Cheeky blardy devils all of you!!! (*Thanks to Maj's blog for the transcript).( Initiator of discussion wishes to remain anonymous for obvious reasons [probably Maj] ): want to start planning for his “welcome back party”? his actual birthday is on 9th june. any idea when he’ll be back? he’ll definitely suspect an ambush, so i suggest we switch tactics. like get SL to invite him for a romantic dinner and we’ll turn it into a nightmare. i’m thinking water balloons. and tissue paper. lots of tissue paper. what do ...

(Belated) Birthday Surprise @ Home!!!
2008-07-09 19:37:35
Back in KL: Weekend of 21st June ~ 22nd June 2008.Well my birthday was on the 9th of June. So I guess if I skipped my trip back to KL during that time would allow me to miss all the fuss and duzzle, ‘cause recently there is this in-thing now to throw surprises among my old classmates (example: Uncle at Pangkor with foam sprays and Theva at his home with flying cakes). So, coming back 2 weeks later would probably cover my butt from these surprise attacks. WROOOOOOOONG!!!!!!! I still got surprise attacked. In fact, I think I got the biggest surprise attack ever assembled so far. In fact, I think my decision to come back 2 weeks later gave them more time to plan and execute their attack. CURSES!!!!!!!!!!!!So here’s what these oh-so-friendly people did t...

Chaos At The Pumps...AGAIN!!!
2008-06-24 20:12:27
It was chaos at the pumps again!!! WTFFFFFFFF!!! Causing so much traffic jam!!! Can’t get home fast enough to watch my latest episodes of ‘Smallville’ on my com!!! Petrol prices increased again?? Actually no, there was this wild rumor flying all over by SMS yesterday that petrol stations will be closed for 3 to 5 days to protest their non-increment in commissions. So we typical Malaysians panicked (as usual) and OOooopps, did it all over again. I’m not sure if KL were affected by this madness but here in Labuan and other major parts of East Malaysia, there was petrol-panic all over. My friend even went to the pumps on a motorbike and filled up 2 plastic bottles with petrol (is this even legal??!!) I wish sometimes everyone would just calm down and think first before panicking and not to cause other Malaysians like me to miss their favorite TV shows. GEEEEEEEEZZZZ PEOPLE!!!!!! But in actually, the rumors were indeed quite true. I saw a quote from Charles Soong, the president of...

Harvest Festival '08 @ Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
2008-06-16 04:24:02
From 30th to 31st May, I was in Kota Kinabalu to witness the much celebrated festival of harvest called ‘Tadau Ka’amatan’. It was a cultural baptism of unique dances, exotic foods, wicked rice wines and quaint games during 3 days and 2 nights in the heart Sabah’s capital, Kota Kinabalu, where the ‘Harvest Festival’ or the ‘Tadau Ka’amatan’ was celebrated as gloriously as any major festivals we come to revere. When you are in Borneo, no major festivals come close to the ‘Tadau Ka’amatan’. Christmas, New Year’s Eve, & even the Merdeka celebrations all pale in comparison to the significance and distinctiveness of this festival of harvest, whereby Sabahans celeb...

Review: Kung Fu Panda
2008-06-09 01:12:02
The first time I heard that Jack Black is working on a kiddie movie, I laughed. And after watching that kiddie movie, I was still laughing. Not at it, but with it. And that movie was called ‘The School of Rock’. This movie totally shifted my perception of Jack Black from a narrow and tenacious comedian to a broader and multi-faceted one. And a more talented comedian with his tenacious reputation intact too, as in the case of ‘The School of Rock’, Jack Black did not lower himself to childish whims like Vin Diesel in ‘The Pacifier’, but he successfully turned the table and made the kid actors raise their energy levels to match his level of intensity. And it worked like a charm, and in my opinion ‘The School of Rock’ remains as of one of the greatest comedies ever to be produc...

Riding the Wave of Petrol Price Increases
2008-06-04 20:51:38
Labuan actually experienced a jam!!! And it’s on a non-holiday too!!! Shock!!! Horror!!! Terror!!! Why? Simply because the dwellers of Labuan Island were scrambling their cars to the petrol kiosks for re-fills. A rise of 0.78 cents or 40 % from RM 1.92 a liter for petrol is a MASSIVE increase (especially when the previous price hikes were only at the maximum of 30 cents). Well, I can’t say it was a surprise as around the world petrol prices were shooting up faster than New Year’s fireworks, and Malaysian petrol prices were kept at the region of RM 1.92 a liter for most of the time due to the infamous petrol subsidies. But as the government kept crying like a baby that they can’t take it no more with the subsidies (the Treasury claims that it had co...

Review: Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
2008-05-27 00:47:47
I never believed for one minute that I would see another Indiana Jones movie in my lifetime. Ever. I was a mere kid when the so-called last installment of ‘Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade’ burst into life on the cinema screen (and I was still in Ipoh, my hometown, when I saw it). I was amazed, bewildered, astonished, basically went kid-crazy over the adventures of Dr. Jones and his equally charismatic associates through-out the trilogy. Re-runs of all the Indy movies was a common staple during my childhood cinematic diet, along with other movies like ‘Star Wars’, ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Robocop’. Yes, ‘Robocop’. Don’t argue with me. Anyway, I grew up on these movies and no matter how ch...

A Nice Mid-Air Greeting....
2008-05-19 03:42:17
On board the flight back to Labuan, the routine hum-drum of passengers finding remaining available seats, air stewards giving their routine customary preaching on how to use the life safety jacket and crying children fill the air of what is now a common monthly practice for me, which is sitting in an 'AiriAsia' plane jetsetting across the oh-so-glamorous route of KL to Labuan. Before taking-off, I’m already counting the mili-seconds to my (hopefully) safe landing in Labuan until a nice surprise paid me a welcoming visit to what was fast becoming a very routine and mundane air journey. As I was flipping through the on-board magazine called ‘Travel 3-Sixty’, I was greeted by a very familiar face with a mesmerizing smile and attached to it was her unmistakably distinctive black-rimmed gl...

Second Homecoming: Part Three
2008-05-13 19:06:30
Day 4 - SundayThank God I was able to squeeze in this trip into my KL break. I was so looking forward to this trip coz I haven’t been to ‘Melaka’ for ages. I think it was 10 years ago since I stepped into ‘Jonker Street’. It finally happened and I had such a blast with that bunch of 7. Thank you all for organizing the trip!!! We went with 2 cars and of course, being the gentleman that I am (ahem) I drove SL's poor 'MyVi' all the way back and forth. Not only that, we drove around inside Melaka looking for yummy yummys and places to chill (it’s so cool that Melaka has so many chill-out spots!). Anyway, we went through the usual tourist route, i.e. ‘chicken ball rice’, shopping and chillin’ in ‘Jonker Street’, buying those biscuits, ‘A’Formosa’ sight-seeing, coolin...

Second Homecoming: Part Two
2008-05-13 19:03:42
Day 3 - FridayAs it was a working day for many people, the only guy I managed to find free to accompany me today was DK. I suggested we go for some ‘dim sum’ (since I didn’t get it at ‘Reunion’) but DK just had it a few days ago so, since Labuan did not have ‘McDonald’s’ and I didn’t patron them since I left KL ages ago, both of us went to the nearby 'McD’s' at Subang SS15. I tell you I’m really starting to love those breakfast sets. I remember having them when I was still in Taylor’s College and I didn’t enjoy it as much as now. I don’t know why. The ‘Sausage McMuffin’ is just irresistible haha. And the ‘hash brownies’….MMMMMMMmmmm!!!! But I like fast food anyway so anything fast food will taste good to me ^_^.While enjoying the food, DK and I chit-ch...

Second Homecoming: Part One
2008-05-07 00:14:34
KL Return, 30th April to 5th May. Just got back from my 2nd trip back to KL, and what a trip it was. I managed to do most of the stuff that I wanted to do, which was to watch ‘Iron Man’ on the big THX screen (you can never get this in Labuan!!!), finally tasted the deliciousness of ‘DELIcious @ Marc Residence’ restaurant that everyone seems to be raving about, tried-out the newly opened ‘Wendy’s’ at Sunway Pyramid and even managed to pay Melaka a visit on a 1-day trip. Oh, and yes, I managed to get my J.Co donuts too, and not forgetting a steaming hot cup of ‘Hazelnut White Cofee’ at ‘Oldtown Kopitiam’. For more details, kindly read on my dear friends!!!P.S. I’ll be splitting the post into a few parts as I think it’s going to be waaaaaaay too long for a normal dec...

Back with Prezzies...
2008-04-29 20:12:46
Before heading back to KL for the weekend, there was a bombardment of calls asking me to buy this and that (ciggies and alcohol tops the list). I got calls from people I know, and calls from people I still have no slightest clue who they were. Someone even called me ‘Rashid’ and asked for a carton of ‘Marlboro Lights.’ What, I’m now the ‘Labuan Pimp’ or something?! Anyway, went shopping to get those stuff you guys requested (see how good a guy I am? Bank money into my account NOW). Here’s what I got:So many chocolates for SL: Want 'Cadbury's' Turkish Delight flavour? Or Peppermint flavour? How about Black Forrest? So many to choose, all for you ~~~ Only RM8.50 each, KL is selling for RM16.50 I think... More chocolates for SL's sister, MM: Rich Strawberry chocolates and choc...

The 2nd Coming...Back to KL That Is....
2008-04-23 20:46:58
It’s the time of the month again (no, not those girly periods) but it’s time to head back to KL again!!!! 1st of May is Labor Day and it falls on a Thursday, so why not take leave on Friday and also Monday to get a super long weekend? The plan makes perfect sense to me and hence, air plane tickets are booked, annual leave are booked, and ¾ of my brain are already in KL thinking of what to do (and eat) already. Only few days to go, so see you guys in KL!!!Arrival: 30th April, midnight.Departure: 5th May, 6:00pm.JCo donuts here I come againnnnnn ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

Videos & Photos of KL Freeze in Unison @ Pavillion, KL
2008-04-20 06:00:15
I’ve done something that I regret terribly. I should have been there, but I couldn’t. I would if I could. How can I be so useless? I’m so sorry. On Sunday, the 13th of April, it happened. It happened and I wasn’t there. It became one of the biggest regrets of my life…I didn’t make it to the ‘KL Freeze in Unison Gathering’ @ KL.If you don’t know what this is, it’s basically “where human beings get together to do something in unison, without speeches or reference to their age, color, sex, beliefs and background.” In this case, we just freeze and stop moving for a certain time, in a public place and humiliate ourselves silly by being public art pieces for normal people to ‘admire’.Jason, KT, Josh, Katie and BT were really into this bizarre idea and were dragging me...

Jom Ketam !!!
2008-04-11 22:25:39
Back to my memoirs of Labuan life, yesterday I and a few of my SLB buddies decided to go out for dinner, and one of them suggested KFC. Good God in Heaven, WHY??!! I mean, considering we had a car and all, why not go somewhere far from our usual hotspots (i.e. Financial Park & town area). I suggested seafood (naturally) and lo & behold (I’ve been that a lot lately. I wonder why. “Lo & behold, it’s 5pm and time to go home. Lo & behold, I found that piece of sock that went missing since last century. Lo & behold, it’s time to shit. Etc, etc, etc. I’m just simply using for the sake of using it. Genius at work, obviously), anyway, a local buddy had a light bulb moment and we ended up in ‘Anjung Ketam’.So where is this ‘Anjung Ketam’ restaurant you ask? I d...

Only in Scotland...
2008-04-10 05:33:16
I heard this from a friend in Britain and he swears that this is true...It was even shown on TV during those talk shows over there. I dun have the video but this is what happened:Bono, lead singer of the rock band ‘U2’, is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous.At a recent ‘U2’ concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for total silence. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone:“Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”From the front of the crowd a voice with a broad Scottish accent shouted and pierced the silence:“Well f**king stop doin’ it then, ya evil ba...

Darth Vader's Comeback Vid After Retirement
2008-04-09 00:45:13
I'm in a movie-ism mood this week, and as I was surfing the terrains of digital fun at youtube, I bumped into this video which I found to be absolutely hilarious: no, it's not another baby dropping moment from Britney 'Blondey' Spears, but IT'S THE STAR WARS GANGSTA RAP video!!! WOooordddd up my Vader BRotHEr from AnotHEr MoTher (and planet)!!! :May the BIATCH be with you!!!!!!!!!!!...

Iron Man in Full Flight !!!
2008-04-09 00:13:47
A new movie clip of the upcoming ‘Iron Man’ movie starring Robert Downey Jr. had surfaced and OMG, I think this movie is gonna kick-ass. It shows Tony Stark aka 'Iron Man' testing out his new iron suit in full aerial flight. BUT, as usual with Hollywood these days, whenever movies initially seem to be cool, it screws as up big-time with the actual movie and leaves us with a pile of shit in front of our faces for us to ponder (i.e. ‘Cloverfield’). Check it out anyway:Here are some happy snappy snaps from the actual movie. Sure looks pretty, hope the final product rocks…. ...

'Transformers 2' Movie Details!!!!
2008-04-06 22:27:47
Somebody asked me why there ain’t no more movie updates or stuff like that. Well, stress levels are dramatically rising, and my seat at ‘Schlumberger’ is getting hot. Really hot. Close to boiling point actually. As such, I didn’t had the chance to update my blog as much as I like to. But no matter, whenever I get the chance, this blog will surely be updated. And that chance is now. No, not another ‘what-I-have-done-in KL’ post, but an actual movie post (this is for you, Nik, JoL & SC). And it’s not just another movie, it’s a movie with big bad freakin’ robots and it’s none other that Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’. The sequel, in fact. Yes, ‘Transformers 2’ is already penned and soon to ...

Headin' Back to KL On The 19th March...
2008-03-15 00:00:54
Well, it's been a month already in Labuan, and you know what? It's time to head back to KL. Yup, I'll be taking a break from the blue Borneo skies and be heading back to the hazy rich environment of KL (I said 'rich', so I wasn't saying bad things about KL ok). My flight is confrimed on the the night of Wednesday, as Thursday is a public holiday, Friday I'll be on leave hence my break will strench all to the way to Monday. I'll be on leave on Monday too. So, 5 days in KL, what to do, what to do? SO FREAKIN' MANY DMMIT!! I want my regular morning doses of white coffee in 'Old Town' kopitiam, I want Ramli burger, I want 'Coffee Bean', I want traffic jams, I want long queues, I want big masses of people all around me, YES I'M GOING FREAKIN' NUTS coz you can't get these things in Labuan. So...

Review: 10,000 B.C.
2008-03-11 00:32:23
Wow. You know how much I love movies, be it drama, action or comedy, I love movies for what they are. If it was a 4-hour long drama about ‘An English Patient’ or the film-o-graphy of ‘The Queen’, I still watch and love them for its unique qualities as a film. These mentioned movies share a place in my DVD collection with the likes of other movies like ‘Godzilla’, ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ and ‘Superbad’. Yes, my taste in film is that wide and random. ‘Cause I love them for what they are. So then comes a pop-corn movie like ‘10,000BC’, accompanied by directors and producers that brought us coolness like ‘ID4’ and ‘Godzilla’ (yes, ‘Godzilla’. C’mon admit it, there are some scenes in there that was kick-ass cool). So, after wetting our taste-buds with n...

Labuan Bloglogs #5: Movin' Out!!!
2008-03-06 19:14:49
Well, come this weekend, my time is up to leave my hotel that I called ‘home’ for these past 3 weeks and move to a 'Schlumberger' staff house. I guess I’ll miss the luxury that I was accustomed to by living in the hotel, i.e. the house keeping, the swimming pool, free Astro, lush spaces in my bedroom, unlimited WiFI and free laundry services. When I move to my new room, all these luxuries will disappear and it’s all up to me now and everything will be on my own. How sad :-( But am I scared? No blardy way, coz living in the UK for 3 years in the past during my University days really did help me, so what is there to it in Sabah? It’s so much closer to home anyway. Actually, I’m not totally on my own as there will be 2 housemates that are from KL and KK, so I guess there will be s...

Labuan Bloglogs #1: The Borneo Beginnings
2008-03-06 19:13:49
I’ve finally arrived in Labuan, Sabah for my new job at ‘Schlumberger’. My flight was 9am this morning with my parents and SL seeing me off at KLIA. Leaving KL for a little place like Labuan was quite difficult because, well obviously KL is much bigger city, but most hard to leave behind was my friends, parents, and of course SL. Leaving behind my city lifestyle was hard too, as there will be no more fancy cafes, comfy cinemas or rockin’ clubs. There’s just better fishes in Labuan. That’s about it. Well, it was a risk I wanted to take because firstly, why not? I’m still young with no big commitments and if I don’t jump companies now, I may never get the chance later in my life. Secondly of course ‘Schlumberger’ gave me a good offer too hard to refuse so I had to take th...

Labuan Bloglogs #2: The Horror
2008-03-06 19:13:12
It's been a few days already at my new office, and i'm already suffering from culture shock. No, it's not because everyone here acts and speaks funny, it's just that everyone here dresses funny. Everyone here DO NOT put on ties or formal wear, everyones wears and walks around like THIS:GOOD GOD IN HEAVEN, WHYYYY??!!! By the way, that's not me you see in the above photo there. Yes, it does make me look like a super-pro engineer, but c'mon, even in my office I have to wear THAT??!! What, just in case all the engineers die from a freak accident and WE have to step in and safe the oil rigs??!! Screw that, i'm not even on an oil rig!!! I'll burn them down into the sea haha. But, what to do, if everyone wears them, I got too as well. As they say, when in Rome, be a Roman. So after wearing that f...

Labuan Bloglogs #3: No Doggies
2008-03-06 19:12:23
I just realized that there are NO dogs in Labuan...not even stray ones. Blimey. I mean, yes, Labuan is predominantly a Malay area, but there are big pockets of Chinese communities living here. And yet, no dogs. Wow. This is good and bad thing for me: Good - no rabid stray dogs chewing on me arse when i go out to buy papers. Bad - I got no one to throw stones at. OK!!! I wasn't serious about that. Well, the bad about it I guess it makes this place feel less of home. Shit, I'm home sick already. OH WAIT, I can't be home sick 'cause I'm still living in a damn HOTEL here and I got no home to go to. Note to myself: FIND A BLARDY PLACE TO BUM IMMEDIATELY. Until then......

Labuan Bloglogs #4: The Gallivantings
2008-03-06 19:11:06
It was my first weekend at Labuan, and after being locked up in a hotel room and had been working (hardly) during the weekdays, I took this opportunity to paint the town red. Well, not literally of course, as the hotel provided me free shuttle van services to town, so it was a chance to roam like an animal free from its restraining leashes. So what surprises were in store for this KLite that is still fresh from his arrival to an island far from his native surroundings? Well, read on dear friends!!!I began my gallivanting by visiting a WWII memorial park that was not far from my hotel. I have to say that the place is maintained tremendously well and visitors will feel very welcomed and peaceful once they step foot into the area. Rows after rows of plaque donning the names of WWII soldiers t...

Farewell & Goodbye, Sony...
2008-02-04 11:50:22
Weekend of 2nd & 3rd FebruaryFriday, 1st February 2008.The highlight of this weekend was definitely my departure from my current company Sony, and I will be joining Schlumberger at the end of next month. Better pay, better position, better benefits, with new laptop, new hand-phone and free phone-line, so why not? My dear Sony colleagues organized a farewell lunch for me and gave me a Sony bag too, so I guess have to say a BIG THANK YOU for being my colleagues and most importantly my friends at Sony!!!! To return the favor, I bought them a whole cake from 'Secret Recipe' and shared with them. 'Apple Crumble Cheese Cake' was the flavour and I guess buying them a cake was the least I could do. I hope it was enough!! Cheese!!!I WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Review: Eastern Promises
2008-02-04 11:11:57
I honestly have to say that when an opportunity presented itself for me to watch 'Eastern Promises', I had a sense of dread creeping through my mind. It is not because I dislike drama films, heck no, far from it. The problem was that this film is a David Cronenberg film. Yes, David at one point was a master that brought us movies that was fresh, thought-provoking and saw things from a different perspective. Movies like ‘A History of Violence’, ‘Spider’ and the excellent ‘eXistenZ’ was the brilliant streak Cronenberg created that mesmerized the film world with its brain teasing plots, odd storylines and richness in meaning underneath the stories that his movies provided. But considering what David had to play with in ‘Eastern Promises’, I feared for the worst. And sad to say...

Review: John Rambo
2008-01-30 21:27:28
When I heard a year ago that Stallone is making another ‘Rambo’ film, I immediately went ‘WHAT THE FREAKIN’ F**K??!!’ Omigod, I mean, it was like saying that the ‘New Kids On The Block’ are making a come-back and they are gonna rock. Furthermore, Stallone is 60 years old for God’s sake, I do not want to see a Grandpa kicking ass, furthermore on the big screen. I also believe that the ‘Rambo’ franchise had ended with the Russians in ‘Rambo 3’ and everyone should leave it at that, and to respect that. C’mon, Rambo in Iraq? Rambo in North Korea? No way. It will become a joke that no one will laugh at. But a year later and here we are, with ‘John Rambo’, and it’s Stallone with his big bulgin...

Syabu Syabu @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong
2008-01-30 08:13:58
Weekend of 26th & 27th JanuaryThis weekend’s highlight is definitely my gastronomic visit to Puchong’s Shabu Shabu restaurant. At RM 25 bucks, it’s all you can eat with non-stop helpings of baby octopus, generous slices of pork, mussels, fresh fish/meat balls and all sorts of stuff that will fill up your stomach happily. The drinks are on free-flow too, so no worries on the liquid requirements. The crowds can be big on weekends however (I have to wait for 40 minutes to get my seat. UUGGHHHH!!!!) But I guess the longer the wait, the tastier the food? Me, TK and SL sat there for more than 2 hours and until our stomachs had been filled to the last millimeter, we left with a few photo I captured:WHat you see here is just a quarter of the full size of the whole ‘Kaiten’ belt. It's...

Michael Veerapen @ Alexis, KL
2008-01-29 20:38:10
Weekend of 19th & 20th JanuaryThe highlight for this weekend was to attended Michael Veerapen’s performance at Alexis Bar & Bistro at Menara Great Eastern. If you don’t know much about him, he is basically one of most renowned pianist in the Malaysian Jazz circle and his lively and brilliant showpieces can really entertain you until your heart is content. For a solid 2 hours that night, he gave his usual best with a superb show of melodic talent, wonderful chemistry with his live band members and bodily movements to rival Michael Jackson. OKLAH, he did not dance but the vocalist did dance and he was boogie-ing all over the stage floor. I honestly forgot his name but he had a row of ear-rings all across his right ear. Anybody can tell me he is? He was superb as his vocals were t...

A Zoo Escapade
2008-01-29 07:49:22
Weekend 12th & 13th JanuaryThis weekend, I did something that was not done for almost 20 years in my life. No, I didn’t make kittens do summersaults and toss them up into the air (I honestly did that when I was a kid. Sorry), I actually went to the zoo. Yup, it’s the trip to Zoo Negara. What in the world make me go to the zoo of all places? No, it’s not the guilt from tossing all those kittens when I was a problem child, but it was because of all the hype and controversy surrounding ‘Manja’ the puma that apparently clawed a kid. So I decided to do some little investigation of my own for the sake of ‘Manja’ the puma, to do my part as a responsible citizen of KL that I am. So where is how it went: Arrived!!!
