When I lived in South Beach, Florida I stood before this sculpture crying my eyes out. In case you can't understand what the photo represents, it depicts the millions of people who had suffered and/or lost their lives during hitler's despicable nazi regime.It is difficult for me to sit here and type these words to you, as not only can't I understand how this took place while so many participated, but I myself have lost some family in this "final solution."Others of my family have escaped during this atrocious time and have been living in Israel, where they've been happy for the most part except for the fear of suicide bombings, of course. Hopefully very shortly there will be peace in the Middle East.Astonishing as it seems, there are some who still deny that the Holocaust ever happened in this world. Only someone who is a parent can truly understand the anguish of having to come to the unimaginable decision to make that nightmarish phone call that ends up placing your beloved child into custody for whatever reason.
In THIS particular case, it happened to the parents of 18-year-old Ryan Schallenberger, who had been planning to blow up his High School in Chesterfield, South Carolina.
There is no question that they are the heroes, but at this moment they are suffering greatly and my heart is aching for this entire family, as they begin their struggle towards a healthy life.

| Today is One Year Anniversary of Virginia Tech School Shooting |

One year ago today, a mentally disturbed young man by the name of Cho Seung-Hui was able to purchase a gun and walk into this college and kill 32 people.
Today I will not dishonor the family and friends of those who lost their lives by listing the "what ifs" on this day of deep sorrow and mourning, but I WILL hope that we would have learned by this devastating tragedy so that it will never happen to any of us ever again.

| No Proof Yet of 11-Year-Old Boy Being Paralyzed Due to Bullying at School |

This photo of Matthew is very difficult to look at but if true (as of today it is still under investigation) that he was indeed pushed down the stairs by another child in his school, then the photo should be enlarged and hung up in the bully's juvenile detention bedroom while he is undergoing counseling for his behavior.
Oh yes and the bully's family needs to be included in this counseling, as bullies are created and not born.
Every single school needs to be addressing bullying by way of classes on the subject as well as keeping a watchful eye out as far as their students' behavior is concerned, via hall monitors, video cameras, etc.
Our children need to be kept safe while attending school - not living in fear of their very lives by bullying, weapon use, etc. It is up to US to make certain they are protected. We are the mature adults after all and the role models, who are there to guide their smooth transition along their path into a civilized society.

Some parents are just not fit to BE parents, as we can very plainly see by the actions of their precious, innocent child!!!!!!!
Which do they hold more dear - the gun or their child's life? What were the first thoughts that went through this parent's mind when he or she heard that awful sound of the gun being fired?!!!!!
The answer seems obvious to me, since the gun was not properly secured.
This beautiful child is now fighting to stay alive at this very moment. I hope she wins her fight for life and is not permanently injured.

There is a reason this man is featured upon my Favorite People Page. He accomplished a truly extraordinary feat for an entire race of individuals using non-violent methods as his tools.
Many feel that Barack Obama is like Martin Luther King, Jr. I am not one of these people, as I do not believe Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. would not want to be closely associated with people who try to "unite human beings" by spewing racial bile like Reverend Louis Farrakhan and Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr. constantly do.
Here is Dr. King's "I Have a Dream Speech" Too bad he's not here to be running for his second term as our United States President.
When it comes to race relations, we need a man who does what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did, which is to unite human beings using words of love and not of hate.

I don't have a problem with children (or adults for that matter) learning how to protect themselves using martial arts or boxing for self-defense purposes as long as it is being done under strict supervision via these classes and all proper safety precautions are being followed by everybody involved.
What I DO have a problem with is adults encouraging children to fight with one another inside of these cages and charging money to see them hurt one another in the name of entertainment/competitive sport.
All this is succeeding in doing is sending a negative message to our still easily influenced young people that violence is fun...a game...a sport...an entertainment when it is nothing more than the human equivalent of cock fighting and bull fighting. It is bad enough that adults persist in engaging in boxing and wrestling for their so called "sport" as it is, but to involve children into this is in my opinion, nothing more than child abuse.

I don't doubt for a moment that there's an epidemic of gun violence in the United States, just as I don't doubt for a moment that the reason young people are so eager these days to grab a gun, is that they are getting the wrong messages from the adults in their immediate circle.
First we need to educate our children both in the home and in the schools on how to be more compassionate and tolerant of one another. Next we need to expand on this education by talking about non-violent conflict resolution, and less lethal weapons for self-defense purposes.

I was sitting in the audience a few years ago when Arun Gandhi came to Los Angeles and spoke in a local college auditorium. I was also chosen to stand up and ask the man a question, and he replied to it to my satisfaction. After the question-answer period had come to a conclusion, I had the opportunity to speak to him personally, and I came away feeling rather awestruck by this seemingly peaceful, non-violent nature of the man.
Recently he has written in the Washington Post "...that Jewish identity is "locked into the holocaust experience," which Jews "overplay . . . to the point that it begins to repulse friends." The Jewish nation -- Israel, he wrote -- is too reliant upon weapons and bombs and should instead befriend its enemies.

As a woman I do not respect Senator Hillary Clinton and the reason I don't is that I feel she does not send the correct message to ANY women on this planet, since she has (and still is) enabling an abuser of women. How ironic (and phony) that this abuser of women, who we all know to be the former U.S. President Bill Clinton, of course, is out there doing his utmost to trumpet his wife's presidential ambitions, which I believe that she herself had set her sights on while she was speaking to us as First Lady. In MY personal opinion, part of the reason that she finds herself trailing behind Barack Obama in many states is due to the damage inflicted upon voters' ears by the sour notes that are sounding from that particular trumpet. I am posting this highly detailed surveillance video due to the fact that our city leaders are presently searching for the perpetrators of a crime against a Jewish center as well as a private home that is located here in the San Fernando Valley.
A $95,000.00 reward for the capture of these criminals is being offered and certainly this is an excellent way to get people involved in catching criminals on the loose.
What I want to know is how much money will it take for us to stop our irrational bigotry that seems to be flourishing instead of waning? Believe me, if I could, I'd glady pay that price today.

What's going ON with the peoples' mentalities around us?! Must everyone look, sound and behave the very same way in order not to be bullied and/or killed just for being who they are?!
This fact is chilling me right down to my very bones.
People around the world are fighting against this every single day and in THIS particular story, we are focusing upon the subject of the recent amount of gay bashing that seems to be overtaking South Florida.

What was the reason for this nonsensical rule of Judge Holly Hollenbeck's anway, I have to ask myself? Well it can't be due to his irrational fear that a gun would be hidden under Bev Williams' hat, since without question all people entering a federal building would have had to undergo a scanning process to eliminate threats of bodily harm to their persons. The only other plausible excuse that I can think of for this would be the evident self-love of this judge, who to his credit came to his senses. Oh wait...didn't he mention something to the effect of this case "hurting him politically as well in the next election?" It makes me sad as well as angry to think of standing before an insensitive, phony judge, who has been given the colossal responsibility of making life-changing decisions every day. Before undertaking such a task they should attend and pass sensitivity courses, since their business is humans and how to best assist them with integration in our society.
