Antarctic Ice Collapses
2008-03-27 11:59:38
A chunk of Antarctic ice 9 times the size of Manhattan collapsed into the ocean on Tuesday. Scientists have reportedly attributed the collapse to the effects of global warming and say the rest of the ice shelf, which is roughly the size of the state of Connecticut, is currently only supported by a thin [...]...

Scientific Consensus?
2008-03-10 13:50:23
Aloha, Prompted by a recent comment that was made based on the opinion that many scientists believe global warming is a natural phenomenon, rather than a man-made problem, I tried to find evidence of such scientists. I came across the Pew Center on Global Climate Change in Virginia, the Marian Koshland Science Museum of the [...]...

“You Decide ‘08″
2008-02-12 12:29:53
So, in light of recent political events, I’ve decided that it’s my responsibility as an eco-friendly, voting citizen, to take a closer look at the presidential candidates’ take on global warming, energy, and the environment. And, if you think about it, there’s no better place for accurate information about a candidate’s stance on the [...]...

General Information on Global Warming
2007-07-25 22:06:15
In the past few years, the world has experienced devastating natural disasters on a level that hasn’t been seen for decades. There is much speculation that these especially strong phenomena are due to global climate change, brought on by Global Warming. The term ‘Global Warming’ refers to the rising temperature of the earth due to an increased amount of greenhouse gases. This warming of the globe could potentially alter sea level, crop yield and rain fall, and could increase the intensity and frequency of natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and droughts. For more information on global warming, please visit our research page, our student submission page, or any of the links on the left side of this page. Please also feel free to download our free informational pamphlet and our Global Warming political cartoon. Because we value and respect all opinions on this subject, we have also created a secondary blog that presents the issue of Global Warm...

Afraid to Flee
2007-07-25 15:05:59
New reports indicate that about one in every three people, living on southern coastlines in the United States would ignore calls for evacuation in the event of a hurricane. These stats are most likely in response to the poor aid that was given to victims of hurricane Katrina who did evacuate their homes. [...]...

The Sierra Club is currently pushing for modernized fuel standards as part of their clean car campaign. They’ve put a nifty little MPG calculator on their web site, that allows us not only [...]...

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Environmentalists
2007-04-15 10:55:47
Until recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and George Bush were working together to pretty much ignore the fact that greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and other large businesses contribute to global warming. President Bush refused to place any mandatory greenhouse gas regulations on United States businesses for fear of harming our economy. [...]...

Flip The Switch
2007-03-31 19:32:32
On the evening of Saturday, March 31st, the entire city of Sydney, Australia held a one hour blackout as a call to action for the issues of global warming. While Australia has the most greenhouse gas emittance per capita, this is a step in the right direction as their city sponsored the event, showing that their government has not only acknowledged the problem, but also that they are willing to act along with Australian citizens to try to curb global warming. One Planet Fundraising
2007-02-24 17:41:44
Thanks to a tip from one of our readers, I’ve stumbled across One Planet Fundraising, a company that has found a way to run non-zero sum environmental fundraisers. One Planet Fundraising (OPF, if you will) runs fundraisers in which they provide students with energy-saving light bulbs at affordable prices. The students then sell the light bulbs in their communities. So, not only are the students raising money, but they are also saving energy, raising awareness in their communities about saving energy, and helping to instill good habits in those around them. For more information, please take the time to check out OPF! ...
