Microsoft unleashes new search engine Bing
2009-06-02 11:50:00
Early this month I was notified about Microsoft starting new search engine Bing.com. MSN has not been successful compared to Yahoo and Google in gaining search engine share and Microsoft's Yahoo acquisition for 44,6 billion last year did not work as well. In 2007 Microsoft tried to balance scales to their side by releasing tafiti.com, redesigned search engine of MSN based on Silverlight platform but according to statistics Tafiti did not gain a notable search engine share. Will Bing.com be more successful than Tafiti is something that time is going to show.www.bing.com ...

How to Speed Up Computer
2009-05-30 06:54:00
When I was buying my notebook all I had in mind was performance. I wanted to have one of Intel's mobile core2duo CPU-s, 2 gigs of fast ram, discrete video card and Windows Vista operating system. I was sure with that specifications, especially with core2duo, my laptop would fly with speed. But when I got my new laptop I had a terrible experience. Notebook was slow like it was running celeron processor!I knew Vista was not the fastest operating system but I tweaked it and removed all unnecessary applications and services. But performance was not much better. How could that be!I knew processor was fast and it could not be the bottleneck because task manager showed utilization between 5-15%. Ram could not be to be blamed because there were more than enough, even for resource-hungry Vista Home...

Shutdown Windows via Command Prompt
2009-05-27 01:35:00
Did you know Windows can be shut down via command prompt? Yeah, of course you did, just that you might not be familiar with the exact parameters which trigger this desired action right? But why on earth would anyone want to shutdown Windows with cmd, where there is much easier option by pressing shutdown button in start menu! Well, here is the answer.Have you ever got infected by malware which erases master boot record sector or other important files that are crucial for Windows operating system to boot? Well I have when I got a sudden message that my computer was about to shut down in 30 seconds and that I was urged to save any unsaved documents. After this forced shutdown my computer would never boot up again and I lost all important data on my computer. And the worst part of this was th...

Online Armor 3.5 is one of the best software firewalls ever build according to reputable matousec firewall testing lab, featuring powerful inbound and outbound network protection, advanced self-protection capabilities against termination and strong host intrusion prevention system which altogether makes a combination of strong security defense thus making a need for separate Antivirus completely unnecessary. And guess what! How to Replace Windows Icons
2009-05-15 02:57:00
One of the things customization geeks like to do is changing not just Windows wallpapers and themes but icons as well. In the past replacing icons was a matter of manual work which requested some computer experience but today there is a bunch of programs that can automatically do this for you. When I talk about changing icons I have in mind two different types. System icons and program icons. Before you decide to change any of these you will have some replacement icons, right? Take a look at this post to get some nice looking Windows icons first. Now replace program icons by right-clicking icon that you want to replace and choose properties. Choose change icon and now browse to the location of your newly chosen icon. Mind that your new icons have to be in .ico format not png.For changing sy...

New Corsair 256 GB SSD
2009-05-15 01:26:00
A few days ago Corsair brought some fresh air on solid-state drive market by releasing their new fast 256 GB SSD based on multi-level cell and featuring read and write speeds of up to 200 MB/s. New Corsair is going to directly compete with A-DATA XPG both on price and speed range. One thing Corsair SSD can not be proud of is its usage of jMicron controller which caused performance issues regarding random write speeds of small data, 4KB and 16KB in the past and for that I strongly suggested to avoid any SSD using jMicron controller. Corsair tried to bridge this issue by allocating a hefty 128 MB of fast memory onboard cache which can indeed solve some bottleneck performance troubles jMicron controller is bringing.Though jMicron controller saw upgrade to versing B and taking in account that C...

How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 8
2009-05-12 02:15:00
Internet Explorer 8 is the latest web browser from Microsoft and as such many computer enthusiasts decided to give it a try. Unfortunately IE8 did not find positive approval with many customers so I found a bunch of people asking me how to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 and revert back to version 7. Uninstalling Internet Explorer 8 is not as difficult as it may sound so if you decided to get rid of it this is how you do it.Procedure o uninstalling IE8 varies depending on operating system you are using. Windows XP users have to uninstall IE8 directly from add/remove panel like all other programs. Windows Vista users will have to do a little more manual work though. In Windows Vista Interent Explorer 8 is not a separate application as in XP but rather an update, so we will have to uninstall i...

Alternative Web Search Engines
2009-05-07 09:51:00
Majority of us use Google, Yahoo and MSN as the only search engine for all our needs of searching the web, but did you know there are much more different search engines available! To be exact over 300,000. Some of these search engines were established back in 1994 much earlier than Google for example, others use Google or Yahoo algorithm for results, but they differ in feel, look and search results.Take a look at this list of more popular alternative English search engines. Personally I find many of them very useful though I have to say Google still offers the most regarding the archive of indexed websites.www.avantfind.comwww.dogpile.comwww.excite.comclusty.comwww. guruji.comwww.live.comwww.altavista.comwww.cuil.comwww.viewzi.comwww.powerset.comwww.leapfish.comwww.boogami.comwww.blackle.comwww.ask.comwww.goodsearch.comwww.greenseng.cominfo.comwww.alltheweb.comwww.hotbot.comlycos.comgo.comwww.webcrawler.com ...
