Real-Time Patriots vs Chargers
2008-01-20 16:23:26
I felt the need to give my 3rd Quarter review of the Patriots-Chargers game after ANOTHER Brady interception.First, Cromartie, what were you thinking running that ball out of the endzone? You lost your team 15 yards against a tough Patriots team.Second, Brady looks almost horiffic. He has shown flashes of the brilliance we have seen all year, but his stupid "Culpepper-esque" mistakes have put the game in jeopardy for the Pats. It's a shame that San Diego couldn't capitalize on the INT, because Maroney has been eating up the clock in the second half.Pats up 14-12 with 1:30 remaining in the 3rd....

Did Rich Rodriguez destory or steal files?
2008-01-15 21:14:18
ESPN is reporting that various files concerning WVU's football program have gone missing. The files detailed every player and the programs activities over the past several years. Rodriguez's agent, Mike Brown, denies any wrong-doing by his client.Several people reported seeing Rodriguez and an associate shredding papers on December 18th.I would have to think that good ol' Rich would be smarter than that. In the midst of his legal troubles with WVU, any kind of scandal is not good. We'll see what comes of this one......

Jason Garrett response
2008-01-15 15:01:13
Well well, someone decided to state facts instead of just an opinion...Well, let's take a look at the facts...First...Jason Garrett was never the Head Coach for Princeton. Steve Tosches was HC from 1987 - 1999.Second...Mike Tomlin has 13 years of coaching experience to Garrett's 2 years.Third...The Vikings were 5th in the league in Interceptions is '06 under Tomlin and 4th in Passing TDs allowed. In 2005 the Bucs were 2nd in passing TDs allowed under Tomlin. In 2003 they were 4th in Interceptions and 5th in passing TDs allowed. I could continue, but I think my point is made here.Fourth...The Dallas offense looked weak at times, with no variety in the play calling. On Saturday they looked almost stale.I think in the future Jason Garrett has the potential to be a good NFL Head Coach. T...

It's Throwdown Time!!
2008-01-15 14:12:04
Alright, here we go....this post will be in direct response to a post from the illustrious Mr. Perfect, whom I know personally and respect immensely. That's why for the life of me I can't figure out why he is a Steelers fan :-) But I would like to take this time to point out to him and all you readers out there the double standard that exists, using reference he SHOULD know all too well....Jason GarrettPrinceton University(Starting QB 1987-1988)Princeton(Head Coach 1990)PROFESSIONAL QB (1991-2004)QB's Coach(Miami Dolphins 2005-2006)Offensive Coordinator(Dallas Cowboys 2007-2008)Age-41 years oldMike TomlinCollege of William and Mary(WR 1992-1994)VMI (WR Coach 1995)Memphis ( DB and Special Teams coach 1996)Arkansas State ( WR and DB coach 1997-1998)U. of Cincinnati (DB coach 1999-2000)Tamp...

NCAA Division I Basketball Rankings 1/15/08
2008-01-15 12:03:55
Last night's game completely changed the rankings I was going to post yesterday evening. Pittsburgh put on a gutsy performance and dominated Georgetown in all aspects of the game. The Panthers now have two big-time wins over GU and Duke. Watch out for this team come March! Here are Mr. Perfect's NCAA Div. I Basketball Rankings:1. North Carolina (a complete domination over NC State)2. Memphis (still hanging tough at No. 2)3. Kansas (this team is a LOT better than I thought)4. UCLA5. Duke (do they need a big man? UNC Coming up...)6. Tennesee (big win over Mississippi)7. Indiana8. Texas A&M9. Pittsburgh (Big wins: Georgetown and Duke)10. ButlerFell-off - Georgetown, Michigan State, Washington State, VanderbiltWhat a match-up coming...Dicky V returns to the tube to cover the Duke-UNC match-...

Ravens close to hiring Jason Garrett
2008-01-15 09:09:00
The Baltimore Ravens are on the verge of hiring Cowboys Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett. Garrett met with the Ravens brass again on Monday night. This was the second meeting between the young OC and the Ravens. Reports are coming in that Garrett could be announced as Head Coach as early as today. Now, my thoughts -Not to make MPSB(Mr. Perfect's Sports Blog) a Ravens blog, because it clearly is NOT, I want to comment on the last report.Jason Garrett? Are we serious here? 1 year as QB coach, 1 year as OC, and a pretty much horrible career as a player and that means you are Head Coaching material......I think not. The Ravens will be making a HUGE mistake if they hire Garrett before he has a chance to prove himself. They hired an "offensive genious" before, and we see how well that t...

Why I Will Smack the Hell Out of Ozzie Newsome if he drafts a QB
2008-01-15 08:37:53
Let me start this post by posing a question....GENERALLY, what happens to rookie QB's that go into their first seasons tabbed as the starter? Unless you're Carson Palmer, normally not good things. To be fair here, with the reports coming out of USC, Palmer may have technically been playing pro ball anyway, or at least paid like a pro :-) That being said, any of the quarterbacks drafted this april, be it your Ryans, Brohms, Woodsons, all the way down to your Flaccos and Dixons, will not be able to step in and play the game at the NFL level. Now, there is no doubt in my mind that more than a couple will be good NFL QBS, but not without time to develop INTO NFL quarterbacks. I look at my hometown Baltimore Ravens as proof positive that this is the case. We traded 1700 picks to get to Kyle Bol...

Laurinaitis is staying for Senior season
2008-01-14 19:46:53
Ohio State's two-time all-american linebacker will be coming back to the runner-up Buckeyes in a suprising move confirmed by AP today. Laurinaitis was projecting to be a top ten pick in the draft this year, a possible selection by the New England Patriots. Laurinaitis was the 2007 Butkus award winner for top linebacker and also the 2006 Nagurski Award winner as the nation's top defensive player. Laurinaitis finished the season with 121 tackles, and a record 18 in the BCS Championship game against LSU.Laurinaitis' move should prove to open up a wide space for the nation's other top linebackers that have declared for the draft....

Weekly Mailbag
2008-01-14 15:19:54
Fantastic questions this week!Is Ryan Grant the real deal? - Jay D., BuffaloI think Grant has proved that he is the real deal. He has 209 carries for over 1100 yards since week 8. That's 5.4 yards per rush. Real deal? I think so. I felt bad for Grant after his first two fumbles on Saturday, even questioning my feelings about his talent, but oh did he make up for it after that. A 200 yard performance in the playoffs is absolutely amazing!Do the Ravens stand a chance of improving next year or are they looking at a few years before everything is back to good? - Josh W., BaltimoreThe short answer is, yes! The long answer is much more complicated. There are three key things the Ravens must due this offseason to be able to compete next year. 1. Hire an experienced NFL Head Coach, a rookie won't ...

Tice to Dolphins?
2008-01-12 14:15:46
It seems that the Tony Sparano deal never went through and there are new rumblings around the NFL that Mike Tice is the leading candidate for the Dolphins Head Coaching position. The story even go so far as to say Tice will be named Head Coach following a Jaguars loss to New England this weekend. Tice's return to the limelight is on a much better note than his headline making Superbowl Ticket scam from a few years ago. Tice is known to be hard on his players, but brings a much needed offensive mind to Miami....
