Jacques Rudolph
Jacques Rudolph has claimed an awards double for a second consecutive year at Yorkshire.
The left-handed batsman, who gave up his South Africa career to play for the English county, was voted 2008 player of the year by Yorkshire's members and supporters in recognition of his performances with the bat, which have seen him average just under 56 this season.
He also picked up the Yorkshire players' player of the year award, thus repeating his double success in 2007.
Rudolph, 27, has committed himself to playing for Yorkshire until 2011 and will qualify for England under residency rules in 2012.
He has not however ruled out a return to the South African fold after 2011.
"I'll make a decision on that if and when I get there," he said earlier this ye......

Showbusiness and cricket have long been passions in India. Now the two are joining forces in a new television show that pairs well-known stars with their sporting counterparts in a dance contest.
"Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena", loosely translated as A Cricketer and A Maiden, follows a similar format to the popular British variety show "Strictly Come Dancing", where celebrities team up with ballroom dancing professionals.
Former England opening batsman Mark Ramprakash and fast bowler Darren Gough have both won that series, showing nifty footwork and a previously hidden talent for the Tango, Foxtrot and Cha Cha Cha.
Attempting to do something similar are fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, spinner Harbhajan Singh, swing bowler Irfan Pathan, wicketkeeper Dinesh Kar......

ustralia's late-blooming leg-spinner Bryce McGain faces a massive challenge bowling to India's spin batting masters on next month's tour of the subcontinent, Test paceman Stuart Clark said Friday.
The Australians leave for India on Sunday and have included the uncapped 36-year-old as part of their tour strategy for the four-Test campaign.
Australia have indicated they are keen to attack India's premier batting lineup through their pace attack, led by Clark and Brett Lee.
But India's pitches are renowned for their lack of bounce and assistance to the slow bowlers so internationally-untried McGain will be pitched into the deep end as the Aussies seek to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
"We did discuss it very briefly in our training camp," Clark told radio here Frid......

Sri Lanka will re-admit players aligned with the unauthorised Indian Cricket League into domestic cricket, officials said on Friday, in a move that defies the world cricket establishment.
"Players will be allowed to play for their respective clubs and share their expertise, but cannot represent the country," Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) media manager Shane Fernando told AFP.
The SLC had last year banned its five ICL players -- Marvan Atapattu, Russel Arnold, Upul Chandana, Avishka Gunawardena and Saman Jayantha -- from playing any official cricket matches.
The decision comes two days after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) joined its counterparts from other countries in banning 13 players, including former captain Habibur Bashar, who has signed up with the ICL.

Nottinghamshire too stayed firmly in the hunt for the Championship away to Surrey, whose long expected relegation to the Second Division was confirmed Wednesday by the distribution of bonus points in other fixtures.

Former Bangladesh captain Habibur Bashar was stunned by the 10-year ban imposed on him and 12 others for joining the unauthorised Indian Cricket League, reports said Thursday.
The ICL, bankrolled by India's largest listed media company Zee Telefilms, on Tuesday unveiled a new Dhaka Warriors team for its upcoming season that includes 11 current or former internationals.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday banned all ICL signees for 10 years, in keeping with the policy of administrators in other countries who regard the ICL as a rebel organisation.
"It is really unexpected," Bashar told the Dhaka-based Daily Star. "The ten-year suspension is too harsh. I can't believe it.
"We may try to meet with the board officials to explain everything."

Bangladesh cricket chiefs said on Wednesday that 13 players who opted to compete in the unauthorised Indian Twenty20 league will be banned for 10 years.
The Indian Cricket League (ICL) unveiled late Tuesday its new Dhaka Warriors team in New Delhi, which comprises 11 Bangladesh internationals reportedly earning 200,000 dollars each over a three-year period.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held an emergency meeting Wednesday and decided to ban the players for joining the unapproved league for 10 years, BCB spokesman Rabeed Imam said.

Pakistan's chances of hosting the Champions Trophy next year improved Sunday after the Indian cricket board said it was willing to adjust its calendar for the sake of the crisis-hit tournament.
The Indian board, which had objected to the event being held in October 2009 as it clashed with its one-day series with Australia, said it was open to "minor adjustments" if other boards involved were flexible as well.

Pakistan's cricket-starved side finally got some good news on Saturday when organisers confirmed a four-nation Twenty20 tournament to be played in Canada next month.
The tournament, scheduled to run from October 10-13, will feature Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and hosts Canada, giving Pakistan desperately needed matches after the eight-nation Champions Trophy was postponed over security fears.

Australia's Simon Taufel was named as the International Cricket Council's Umpire of the Year for the fifth year in a row on Wednesday.
The award confirmed Taufel's standing as the best umpire on the ICC's elite panel with the 37-year-old receiving his votes from captains of cricket's leading 10, full member, nations and the eight-man ICC elite panel of match referees.
However, critics of world umpiring standards are likely to point to Taufel's domination of the award as evidence to back up their claims of a significant gap in class between the man at the top and his fellow officials.
Taufel, significantly younger than many of his colleagues on the elite list, began his first-class umpiring career while still in his 20s, an early age to be standing in senior matches.

But the tourists were out of the game by the 30th over of their innings when Mark Boucher was fifth man out with only 114 on the board.

Steve Harmison has hit back at accusations that he only returned to England's one-day team to cash in on the huge sums of money flooding into the game.
Harmison, 29, reversed his decision to retire from the one-day international arena last Thursday and marked his return to the side by taking two wickets in England's wins against South Africa at Headingley and then Trent Bridge.
It has been suggested that Harmison has opted to come back for financial reasons with the money-spinning Stanford Series due to start in October, but the Durham star is adamant that is not the case.
"Everyone is talking about it saying he has come back for the money, but I have come back for cricketing," Harmison told Sky Sports News.
"It feels like I've been criticised for everything, e......

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (L) and Suresh Raina
India survived Sanath Jayasuriya's explosive half-century to clinch the series against Sri Lanka with a 46-run victory in the fourth one-day international here on Wednesday.
India restricted the hosts to 212 under lights after posting 258 for an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. It was their first-ever bilateral one-day series victory in Sri Lanka.
The tourists were well-served by batsmen Suresh Raina (76), skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (71) and teenager Virat Kohli (54) before off-spinner Harbhajan Singh bagged three wickets, including that of Jayasuriya.
Left-handed opener Jayasuriya posed the main threat to India, giving a magnificent display of power-hitting to smash two sixes and eight fours in his 52-ball 60.

Ricky Ponting
Australian captain Ricky Ponting said Wednesday it is only a matter of time before Twenty20 cricket is part of the Olympic Games.
Just days after the completion of the Beijing Games, Ponting said it was "inevitable" the game's newest form would become an Olympic event given its popularity in the sub-continent.
Ponting, who also called for a portion of the international cricket calendar to be kept free for Twenty20 tournaments, was speaking here Wednesday night at a dinner to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Donald Bradman.
"I actually think it's inevitable Twenty20 cricket will be an Olympic sport," Ponting said.
"You think about the audiences in the sub-continent, 22 or 23 per cent of the world's population is based in that area.......

he International Cricket Council (ICC) Sunday postponed until next year September's Champions Trophy in Pakistan over security fears.
The move came two days after South Africa refused to send their team, while players' associations from Australia, New Zealand and England urged their players not to travel to the troubled country over serious security concerns.
The decision to postpone the event was taken after a tele-conference of the ICC executive board in Dubai on Sunday.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi said while disappointing, the decision to postpone was a sort of victory for Pakistan.
"We are naturally disappointed but in a way the postponement is a victory for us. Under these circumstances there were only two solutions: either to relo......
