| How Does Acupuncture Work? | | 2007-11-15 23:44:37 | |
Acupuncture is based upon the belief that there is need for balance in the flow of energy in the body. The energy is referred to as chi which is electrical energy form the nervous system. This flow of chi must be in balance and in harmony to maintain health. When chi becomes blocked and cannot circulate, the result is pain and/or loss of body function—stagnation. Acupuncture treatment specializes in removing the energy blockages, increasing the circulation of chi and bloodflow. It also exerts influence on the autonomic nervous system. This combination activates the healing process. The end result is pain relief and the restoration of body function.Share This... | | By: Mind Mart

Therefore, it can be anywhere from one quarter inch to two or three inches below the skin. It somehow is hooked up to other acupuncture sites. Now its obvious that the site that appear from one quarter inch to several inches below the surface will require different pressure techniques. It is also obvious that the sites closest to the surface can respond to pressure and massage easier than the deep ones. Fortunately most of the points we will be dealing with are relatively close to the surface.A second thing to note is that the acupuncture site is a circle about one centime... | | By: Acupressure
