No Adrian Peterson for Vikings this week
    2007-11-20 09:05:16
From our fine Minnesota Vikings blog, The Daily Norseman, comes official word that Vikings all-world running back Adrian Peterson will not play this week against the Giants. Peterson, who set the single-game rushing record a few weeks back with 296 yards, is nursing a knee injury. Here is the 'Norseman's' take on what this means for Minnesota. So, for at least one more week, we're back to Chester Taylor as the starter at RB. After his performance on Sunday, with the 200+ yards of total offense and 3 TDs, I think we can be comfortable with that. The Vikings are going to need a big game from the rushing attack again in order to combat the Giants' insanely fearsome pass rush ... even though that rush got a little less fearsome with Mathias Kiwanuka suffering a season-ending leg injury in New York's victory over Detroit yesterday. We will have much more analysis throughout the week, so stay tuned.

    Vikings Take Adrian Peterson
    2007-04-29 03:19:00
The Minnesota Vikings made Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson their number one pick, at overall choice number 7, at the NFL Draft in New York today. It wasn't really a surprise, as the Vikes needed an impact offensive player, and many pundits figured he'd end up in Minnesota. The Vikings passed on Brady Quinn, and suprisingly, 20 other teams did as well, until the Cleveland Browns, his favorite team growing up, selected him. Quinn looked shocked that he fell so far in the first round, and looked a bit haggard when ESPN interviewed him after he was chosen. Also as expected, Jamarcus Russell, QB of LSU, was selected first, by the Oakland Raiders. The Jets selected CB Darrelle Revis of Pittsburgh, after they traded up with Carolina to get the 14th pick. The Giants took CB Aaron Ross from Texas at 20, and the Patriots took S Brandon Meriweather from Miami at 24. Here's the complete first round with analysis from Fox Sports:http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6749586I find it amazing ev

    Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
    2007-04-24 22:57:00
If the Browns don't get Joe Thomas, this would be my next choice. It is an area of need for the Browns, and until a good offensive line is in place, I think that generally a RB would be able to withstand the physical and mental beatings that come with playing behind the Cleveland line better than a QB could (Tim Couch comes to mind).Adrian Peterson is an awesome combination of power and speed, and has been compared to LaDanian Tomlinson and Eric Dickerson. He could be the franchise back the Browns have been searching for since returning to the league, provided the Browns have a good offensive line and he can stay healthy. Both of these are in doubt. Peterson has had a lot of serious injuries, ala Courtney Brown, but has been plagued by a lot of nagging, non-career threatening injuries (more like a Lee Suggs). My biggest fear about drafting him is that he will constantly be nursing some ailment, and I'm not the only one. On the other hand, he could be very healthy in the NFL where his immense talent should make him a star.

Professor's NFL Draft Pick #7 Possibility (Part V): Adrian Peterson
    2007-04-11 01:43:32
Mel Kiper, in his newest mock draft, which was shown on NFL live on Tuesday, but not updated on the ESPN website, has our Vikings selecting Adrian Peterson with the 7th overall pick.  Peterson is listed as Kiper as the third best player available behind Johnson and Russell.  It doesn't seem to make a ton of sense on the surface for the Vikings to select a RB; however, our number one priority is getting a PLAYMAKER in this draft, and Peterson is, no doubt, a bona fide playmaker.  I realize that we already have Chester Taylor, but as "Paper Champs" wrote earlier this offseason, one thing that this year's playoff teams had in common was a two-man backfield.  A combo of Peterson and Taylor coming out of our backfield would be a welcomed sight to see.  With that said, here is the book on Peterson.p.s.  Can we please sign Eric Moulds already??  I don't think "Paper Champs"' boy Billy McMullin is going to cut it...

    NFL Draft Recap: Adrian Peterson
    0000-00-00 00:00:00
Seventh overall pick Adrian Peterson will soon be challenging Chester Taylor for the starting gig in Minny. How would you like to be Chester Taylor these days (aside from the fact that he makes millions of dollars, of course)? Prior to the 2006 season, he signed the biggest contract of his career, a four-year, $14.1-million deal [...]
