    2008-06-26 19:51:00

Boating Operating Under the Influence of alcohol is still dangerous since it is like you are driving a car and it is also an illegal. Alcohol... More Exciting
    2008-06-20 14:00:00
I still intend on going to Bartending school. Not exactly when, but there is something really interesting to me about mixology. Not surprsingly, this site about cool ways to spice up your newest party is pretty interesting. Luge? Champagne Pyramid? Test Tube Shots? It's almost too much :PThinking about Carlo, right now, here is something he would be proud of although I don't know if he would approve of the formula... SangriaI sooo want to cozy up with cool friends in the winter with this warm, fruity, and spicy shot.Last but not least, people complained about my last Jell-O shots suggesting that they were too strong. I say too bad, but for those asking for a little more flavor and, perhaps, less impact, this site is really cool. I love the cocktail shots.

Alcohol Detox Rare for Americans with Alcohol Problems
    2008-06-16 00:49:36
by Rod MactaggartA new report from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) found that more than 30 percent of Americans, at some time in their lives, have met the criteria for alcohol abuse or dependence. Most of these people never received any treatment, and those who did often didn’t get treatment for 10 years or more – 10 years of alcoholism that could have been avoided with early and effective alcohol detox and rehab. This report refers to data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC), which surveyed 43,000 U.S. adults. The researchers found that only 24 percent of those who met the criteria for alcohol dependence received any type of treatment, and just 7 percent of those who met the criteria for alcohol abuse received treatment. That’s a very disheartening statistic. And just as bad or even worse is the fact that most of those people surveyed developed alcohol problems in their early 20s but didn’t get treatm

Holistic Alcohol Rehabilitation Worked For Me
    2008-04-21 17:48:43
I drank and used drugs for many years and to say I needed alcohol rehabilitation was putting it mildly. The problem was I had been in alcohol rehabilitation before and something just didn’t click. As the years went by, I began to hear about holistic alcohol rehabs, which incorporated additional teaching from the holistic world, so I took a look at holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs. I should say, my wife looked at holistic alcohol rehabs. I was too drunk and high most of the time. When I heard these holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs had holistic services such as meditation, yoga etc. I asdi well at least it is different and went on to holistic alcohol rehab. While I didn’t become serene or able to touch my nose to the floor, I did feel more focused. When I left the holistic rehab, I felt more well rounded and ready for recovery. The holistic alcohol rehabilitation program focused on every aspect of my recovery. I would reccomend it to anybody. Bookmark to:

Often users don’t limit themselves to one substance, and demographic factors like poverty can also influence brain development. read more

The re-shaping, reduction or increase in size of the nose can frequently change the general expression of the face. The rhinoplasty surgery can have a big influence on an individual’s self- esteem. The rhinoplasty surgery can be performed for both aesthetic as well as medical reasons. Volvo Cars launches new Alcoguard to help reduce the number of alcohol-related road accidents
    2008-03-05 17:18:00
Alcoguard utilises fuel-cell technology - the very same technology that is used by most police forces in Europe. Before the car can be started, the driver has to blow into the wireless hand-held unit. This unit is the size of a remote control and it is stored and charged in a compartment behind the centre console. The driver's breath is analysed in the hand-held unit which then transmits the results via radio signal to the car's electronic control system. If the blood-alcohol limit of 0.2 g/l is exceeded, the engine will not start. Thanks to advanced sensors, it is not possible to use external air sources such as a pump to cheat the system."Fuel-cell technology is more expensive but it also produces far better results. Unlike semi-conductors, for instance, fuel-cells only react to ethanol and nothing else. In the fuel-cell, the ethanol molecules pass through a sensitive membrane and an electrical current is generated. This current is then measured. Higher current means more alcohol in

Drug Alcohol Rehab and a Gay Man
    2008-02-05 05:52:25
I was looking for a drug alcohol rehab program in New York and the more I looked the more confuse I got. There were drug alcohol rehab programs, drug alcohol detox and drug alcohol detox programs. It seemed like the end was never in sight. Add to that I was looking for a drug alcohol rehab to help me with “coming out” and it made the decision even harder. Then I found a drug alcohol rehab in Florida, which was obviously far away from new York, but it did provide treatment for the gay and lesbian community which was attractive to me. As much as I didn’t want to leave New York, I didn’t want to live my life in fear. I also didn’t want to be a slave to my crystal meth addiction either. This drug alcohol rehab seemed to have excellent staff credentials and clnical services. I am happy to say, I am gay and proud of it today. My crystal meth addiction is no more and I decided not to return to New York as of now. It is amazing what my crystal meth addiction did t

Drug Addiction Treatment and Alcohol Rehab Saved My Life
    2008-01-21 10:25:53
Growing up gay presented a multitude of problems for me, many of which I chose to deal with by taking cocaine and alcohol. Everything seemed so difficult to me, whether it was maintaing a relationship in the gay world, the social scene, issues with my parents or issues within myself. Cocaine and alcohol just seemed to make things easier. One problem though, I never counted on drug addiction or alcoholism. I never dreamt that I would require drug addiction treatment or an alcohol rehab program.  Not me, drug addiction treatment and alcohol rehab was for the losers. Regardless of who it was for, I needed it and within a week I was in rehab treatment. After being in drug addiction treatment for about a week I started to be introduced to other patients and their lives. It seemed as though there were more things we had in common than differences. With the exception of me being gay, we were very much alike. We all wished we had gone to drug addiction rehab sooner, none of us could stop on

TT - Even More Alcohol Trivia
    2008-01-10 17:03:00
The Chagga people of Tanganyika believe that a liar will be poisoned if he or she consumes beer mixed with the blood of a recently sacrificed goat. Beer is mixed with saliva and blood for a drink that is shared when two Chagga men become blood brothers. The national anthem of the US, the "Star-Spangled Banner," was written to the tune of a drinking song. The shallow champagne glass originated with Marie Antoinette. It was first formed from wax molds made of her breasts. Beer was not sold in bottles until 1850; it was not sold in cans until 1935. In the 1600's thermometers were filled with brandy instead of mercury. A raisin dropped into a glass of champagne will repeatedly bounce up and down between the top and the bottom of the glass. As late as the mid-17th century, the French wine makers did not use corks. Instead, they used oil-soaked rags stuffed into the necks of bottles. The corkscrew was invented in 1860. The longest recorded champagne cork flight was 177 feet and 9 inches, four feet from level ground at Woodbury Vineyards in New York State. In the 1800's, rum was considered excellent for cleaning hair and keeping it healthy. Brandy was believed to strengthen hair roots. The purpose of the indentation at the bottom of a wine bottle is to strengthen the structure of the bottle. In the U.S., a barrel of beer contains 31 gallons, which is equivalent to about 330 twelve-ounce bottles or cans.

CUIDADO Alcohol 120 en Windows Vista
    2008-01-10 16:12:28

Almost Half of 10-Year-Olds Have Tasted Alcohol
    2008-01-06 20:38:47
(HealthDay News) -- Two out of five American children between the ages of 8 and 10 have already taken a few sips of alcohol, a new study shows. However, one in three parents whose child reported having tasted alcohol was unaware that their youngster had done so, the researchers noted. The number of 8-to-10-year-olds who've downed a whole drink are much lower, however."Nearly 40 percent of children aged 8 to 10 have sipped or tasted alcohol, whereas only 6 percent have ever had a drink of alcohol," corresponding author John E. Donovan, an associate professor of psychiatry and epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh, said in a prepared statement.Previous research on alcohol use among children has focused on older children involved in heavier drinking than just a taste or sip, the researchers noted. Surveys tend to ask when a child has taken "more than a few sips," thereby excluding children who have only sampled, they said.In their study, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh an

    The Best Alcohol Detox Center
    2008-01-02 19:44:56
Alcohol Detox and Alcoholism  When I was looking for an alcohol detox center I was so sick I couldn’t see straight. My alcoholism had progressed to a point where blackouts were common. I was about to be fired from a career it had taken me 20 years to build. Who would have ever have thought alcoholism would beat me, but it did. All of the alcohol detox centers I heard about were ditry buildings where the homeless and less fortunate went. These people were not the ones I associated with. I had insurance and savings I could use for detox. Finially I met someone that knew of an alcohol detox center that his brother went to. His brother suffered from alcoholism and a cocaine addiction. I thought I was better off because I only suffered from alcoholism. Was I nuts or what? I lived in New York City, Manhattan to be precise and ended up in an alcohol detox in Florida. I felt that if I was going to a alcohol detox center, I might as well go to detox in a beautiful climate. God forbid, I considered whether they provided good care. Luckily for me, the Florida detox center was great. After 5 days I was feeling much better. they gave me medication to make the detox easier. After alcohol detox, believe it or not, I went on for further alcoholism treatment. Today, I am 5 years sober thanks to Florida’s Lakeview Health. Their alcohol detox can be found by calling 1-800-99-DETOX.   Bookmark to:

TT - Sigh...Even More Alcohol Trivia
    2007-12-19 17:04:00
Alcohol consumption decreases during the time of the full moon. Drinking lowers rather than raises the body temperature. There is an illusion of increased heat because alcohol causes the capillaries to dilate and fill with more warm blood. Rhode Island never ratified the 18 Amendment establishing Prohibition. "Whiskey" is the international aviation word used to represent the letter "w." Most vegetable, and virtually all fruit juices, contain alcohol. There are 83 dry towns and villages in Alaska. In West Virginia, bars can advertise alcohol beverage prices, but not brand names. There is a cloud of alcohol in outer space with enough alcohol to make four trillion-trillion drinks. It's free for the taking. . . but it's 10,000 light years away from Earth. The Mayflower, well-known for bringing the Pilgrims to the New World, ordinarily transported alcohol beverage between Spain and England. Wine has about the same number of calories as an equal amount of grape juice. Johnny Appleseed probably distributed apple seeds across the American frontier so that people could make fermented apple juice ("hard" cider) rather than eat apples. White wine gets darker as it ages while red wine gets lighter. "There's no free lunch." Pennsylvania outlawed free lunches in 1917 to prevent taverns from giving free sandwiches to customers who bought beer to drink with them. This led some shop keepers to sell sandwiches and give away the beer.

    Medicine Containing Alcohol
    2007-12-06 10:29:00
Question:As-Salamu `alaykum. I would like to know if it is permissible to take medicine containing alcohol which is used to preserve it. Jazakum Allah khayran.Answer:Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.Dear questioner, we would like to thank you for the great confidence you place in us, and we implore Allah Almighty to help us serve His cause and render our work for His Sake.Responding to the question in point, the eminent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states:"Some jurists do not consider medicine to be necessary as food. They cited the following Hadith to support their argument. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says, "Allah has not made things that are unlawful for you to consume to be your medicine."On the other hand, other jurists maintain that medicine is so important and necessary as food. Both of them preserve man and safeguard his life. They said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has allowed both `Abdur-Rahman ibn `Awf and Az-Zubayr ibn Al-`Awwaam to wear silk garments, though male Muslims are not allowed to wear it, because of necessity. The two men were suffering from some sort of itching. It seems that the aforementioned view goes in harmony with the spirit of Islam. However, there are certain conditions that must be fulfilled in order to take a medicine containing haram ingredients. Such conditions may be classified as follows:1. The medicine containing haram ingredients (alcohol as stated in the question) must be necessary for the life of the person who takes it.2. A knowledgeable and trustworthy Muslim physician should recommend such type of medicine containing alcohol.3. The person is not allowed to take this particular type of medicine while there are other lawful medicines available." Country Of Origin : NetherlandsFatawa Issuing Body : Islam OnlineAuthor/Schol

Texas Alcohol Rehab; Alcohol Rehabilitation and the LGBT
    2007-11-21 13:56:21
Alcohol rehab in Texas is provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Texas alcohol rehab also provides dual diagnosis treatment for many of its patients. The aspect of alcohol rehabilitation in Dallas, Ft. Worth or even Houston does not seem to focus heavily on providing compehensive alcohol rehabilitation for the LGBT. Don’t misunderstand me, alcohol rehabs treat the gay and lesbian population but have not really designed programs for them and their partners. Family recovery in an alcohol rehab generally consists of the significant other, mom, dad etc. In the gay and lesbian community it would be focused on the patient and their partner. This is only an issue in the Texas alcohol rehab where other family members have not dealt with their homphobic attitudes, which unfortunately is the majority of the population. It is treatment elements such as this which makes it more productive for alcohol rehabs that provide treatment for the LGBT to carefully look at their recovery needs

Alcohol, Belly Fat, and Weight Loss
    2007-11-18 05:47:00
I received a refreshingly honest question this morning from an admitted alcoholic requesting fitness advice. As the question was not marked private I will share it with you here as I believe it is useful.Dear Lynda,I'm a 6 feet tall male, weighing 96 kgs(overweight). I have stubborn pot belly which I want flattened. I don't look particularly fat otherwise. I also want little more wider shoulders with little more bulky arms, along with that flat stomach.Regarding my diet, I eat little(juice for breakfast with a banana, some rice with mashed potato for lunch, and something light for dinner)However I'm an alcoholic requiring 3-4 drinks of rum daily with my dinner. My question to you is-1)Will I have to stop drinking completely? Is it not possible to get a flat stomach and great shape by doing ab/weight & aerobic exercises along with diet control WITHOUT QUITTING ALCOHOL?2)I do not have the money to go to the gym and in my part of the world, not everyone can afford it (it's expensive).

Drug Addiction Treatment and Alcohol Rehab
    2007-10-06 13:54:15
No single drug addiction treatment is appropriate for all individuals. Matching treatment settings, interventions, and services to each individual’s particular problems and needs is critical to his or her ultimate success in returning to productive functioning in the family, workplace, and society. Drug addiction treatment needs to be readily available. Because individuals who are addicted to drugs may be uncertain about entering rehab, taking advantage of opportunities when they are ready for treatment is crucial. Potential treatment applicants can be lost if treatment is not immediately available or is not readily accessible. Effective rehab attends to multiple needs of the individual, not just his or her drug use. To be effective, treatment must address the individual’s drug use and any associated medical, psychological, social, vocational, and legal problems. An individual’s addiction treatment and services plan must be assessed continually and modified as necessary to ensure that the plan meets the person’s changing needs. A patient may require varying combinations of services and treatment components during the course of treatment and recovery. In addition to counseling or psychotherapy, a patient at times may require medication, other medical services, family therapy, parenting instruction, vocational rehabilitation, and social and legal services. It is critical that the treatment approach be appropriate to the individual’s age, gender, ethnicity, and culture. Remaining in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical for treatment effectiveness. The appropriate duration for an individual depends on his or her problems and needs. Research indicates that for most patients, the threshold of significant improvement is reached at about 3 months in treatment. After this threshold is reached, additional treatment can produce further progress toward recovery. Because people often leave rehab prematurely, programs should include strategies to engage and keep patients in treatment. Counseling (individual and/or group) and other behavioral therapies are critical components of effective treatment for addiction. In therapy, patients address issues of motivation, build skills to resist drug use, replace drug-using activities with constructive and rewarding nondrug-using activities, and improve problem-solving abilities. Behavioral therapy also facilitates interpersonal relationships and the individual’s ability to function in the family and community. Medications are an important element of treatment for many patients, especially when combined with counseling and other behavioral therapies. Methadone and levo-alpha-acetylmethadol (LAAM) are very effective in helping individuals addicted to heroin or other opiates stabilize their lives and reduce their illicit drug use. Naltrexone is also an effective medication for some opiate addicts and some patients with co-occurring alcohol dependence. For persons addicted to nicotine, a nicotine replacement product (such as patches or gum) or an oral medication (such as bupropion) can be an effective component of treatment. For patients with mental disorders, both behavioral treatments and medications can be critically important. Addicted or drug-abusing individuals with coexisting mental disorders should have both disorders treated in an integrated way. Because addictive disorders and mental disorders often occur in the same individual, patients presenting for either condition should be assessed and treated for the co-occurrence of the other type of disorder. Medical detoxification is only the first stage of addiction treatment and by itself does little to change long-term drug use. Medical detoxification safely manages the acute physical symptoms of withdrawal associated with stopping drug use. While detoxification alone is rarely sufficient to help addicts achieve long-term abstinence, for some individuals it is a strongly indicated precursor to effective drug addiction treatment. Alcohol rehab does not need to be voluntary to be effective. Strong motivation can facilitate the treatment process. Sanctions or enticements in the family, employment setting, or criminal justice system can increase significantly both treatment entry and retention rates and the success of drug treatment interventions. Possible drug use during treatment must be monitored continuously. Lapses to drug use can occur during alcohol rehab. The objective monitoring of a patient’s drug and alcohol use during treatment, such as through urinalysis or other tests, can help the patient withstand urges to use drugs. Such monitoring also can provide early evidence of drug use so that the individual’s addiction treatment plan can be adjusted. Feedback to patients who test positive for illicit drug use is an important element of monitoring.
