Is Your Alexa Ranking A Concern To You?
    2008-04-21 21:11:00
While having recently changed my domain over and looking down to my toolbar to see an NA for Page Rank and Alexa I decided to start digging about on forums and other peoples pages. And wow, there is a lot of information out there on Alexa, on how to increase your rating and how to do it in only 15 minutes! Or was it 5 days? 5 months? Either way I quickly learned there is a lot of information, most of it rendered useless as much of it is "old" and some touching on the grey area's and risky if you are concerned about your page rank or status on search engines. Thats not to say there isn't good information out there, you just have to search for it.Back to the title of this article, is your Alexa Ranking a concern to you? well according to Alexa.com they define themselves as “the web information company,” and to many bloggers and webmasters they indeed are much more. For this group, Alexa should be a concern, after all Alexa helps leverage your blog or site's "selling worth" in the eye

    New Alexa Ranking Algorithm
    2008-04-19 15:14:00
As I was waiting to check my new alexa ranking at that day, I got shocked by the news of Alexa changing their ranking algorithm, I was expecting a good change but it was some kind of disappointment for me!1 month ago and at the 2 months birthday of my site, I was glad to achieve a 6 Digits Alexa Traffic Ranking (Below 1 Million in less than 2 months), and the achievement was still on in the last month, going down and down till I got 502.000 total alexa rank, and around 250.000 week alexa rank for 4 to 5 weeks, so I was surely hoping to see a number like 400 thousand, but i got shocked of my new rank. All of that was a result of the new alexa ranking algorithm, as they are announcing now they are considering much factors, rather than the main old factor which was based on the alexa community (only those who use the alexa toolbar). The thing i can't get, isn't alexa community a fixed percentage of the whole web community? then how come this percentage trend is wrong to use as indicator of

This should mean users of the Alexa toolbar.Hence, websites which target a web savvy audience such as Internet entrepreneurs, web developers and web designers are more likely to have higher Alexa rankings, since this group of people are more likely to have the Alexa toolbar installed. One way you can increase your Alexa ranking is by asking your visitors to install the Alexa toolbar. Alexa Ranking Explained
    2007-10-11 12:41:59
Hi, I think many of you people know about the most dependable and the most acceptable traffic ranking site which rates website and blogs called as Alexa rankings. Even though this is not a site related to online earning opportunity, if you got a good Alexa ranking then you will get great offers from advertisers for your blog/website.So what is this buzz about the Alexa ranking and how you have make your site popular with good Alexa rankings.INTRODUCTION:  Alexa is an operating website which gives information regarding web traffic of site. Alexa collects information from users who have installed an Alexa Toolbar allowing them to provide statistics on web site traffic. This site was acquired by amazon.com for $250 millions.OPERATION: After downloading the Alexa toolbar, and when users are surfing the sites, each website they opened will be noted and those website ranking will get improved for each visit they do with the Alexa toolbar. Hence as the number of visits increases then ranking will decrease continuously. This rankings are quiet opposite to normal rankings. Hence the most popular website consists of Alexa rank 1. The problem with this site is, this site supports toolbars only for Internet Explorer and FireFox. Hence remaining browsers are not compatible. With the recent increase in the number of users of Opera browser its a challenging task for Alexa people. How To Increase Alexa Rankings:Even though there are many ways of increasing alexa rankings, I would tell you the top most.1) Write about how to improve your alexa ranking,Page Rank and Linkbulding etc. in your blog or website frequently. Either write posts in your blog or link your site to the articles you write. In short, write about SEO techniques or information frequently in your blog. This is the top most preferable one because people who are more interested about building their website use alexa toolbar.2) Show your alexa ranking of your site to others by adding that widget in your site and make sure to add a link to download alexa toolbar.3) Some sites do not show alexa stats. In such cases, First if you did not download the toolbar, first do it and then also recommend your friends, relatives etc. to use alexa toolbar and every day open your site in your browser with toolbar and ask your friends to open your site. In this way within few days you will be on track.4) Participate in forums which are mostly related to web development and promote your site using the signatures in those forums. Signatures give a great way of advertising.5) Try to be an active member of social networking sites with a lot of friends to promote your site. This is because many alexa users try to promote their site in social networking sites.6) Use online web tools like link analyser, PR checker on your site which attracts website developers and in turn increase your alexa rankings.7) Using ad campaigns, it surely increases but you need to spend some money for this.8) Last but not the least use auto surfing sites which are solely dependant on increasing alexa rank. But be watchful, if you are using adsense like programs then there are chances that you are going to be banned. There are many sites which are developed especially for increasing alexa rank. But not all are genuine. For example there is a site called alexaautosurf.com which has good alexa rank but which does not improve alexa rank because its just an auto surfing site which has good alexa rank. If you did not find genuine sites I would recommend you this site. This really increases the rank because you need to install alexa toolbar to get credits. The last method I have mentioned is not a permanent solution because you get fake traffic to increase the alexa rank. But it increases up to certain extent which is really helpful.

Increase your Alexa's ranking by Alexa's redirect URL!
    2007-05-26 11:59:23
I think Maki Dosh is probably the first blogger who mention about the possibility of using Alexa's redirect URL to increase Alexa's ranking in 20 Quick Ways to increase your Alexa rank. Later, Matt Jones of Succesful Online Money Making expanded the idea and comed up with his Ultimate Alexa Redirect Experiment. In one part of Matt's experiment, he replaces his myBlogLog's community URL with the Alexa's redirect URL. This idea has been widely copied. Many myBlogLog's members, including myself, has replaced its community URL with Alexa's redirect URL.Ever since then, many variations of the trick have been developed. One blog suggests bloggers to use Alexa's redirect URL for comments. This could increase your Alexa's ranking, but you should be awared of two issues. First, if you try to increase your page rank by commenting on "Do Follow" blogs, you will waste your effort. Second, some blogs award its frequent commentators with a top commentator's section. If you are using redirect URL, you will miss a chance to earn a valuable inbound link. One blog suggests bloggers to use Alexa's redirect URL in directory sites, like DMOZ. DMOZ is a PR8 site. For me, giving up a valuable PR 8 link to increase Alexa's rank is simply not worth it.Furthermore, if you have adsense on your blog, and 90% of your traffics are redirected from Alexa, will it raise a few eyebrows on Google? I don't know the answer, but it will be interested to know. For people who are interested to use Alexa's redirect URL in myBlogLog. Here is the step:1. Click "Edit Settings" in your myBlogLog's community.2. Replace the Site URL with the redirect URL. For example:my URL is: http://makemoneyonblog.blogspot.comchange it toredirect URL: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?http://makemoneyonblog.blogspot.comBy the way, in Matt's experiment, Geoffrey from Alexa leave a comment sayng that using Alexa's redirect URL will have no effect on your Alexa's ranking. But like everyone else, I still use Alex

How to Improve Your Alexa Ranking?
    2007-05-07 11:48:00
Alexa is owned by Amazon.com and is a very useful indicator to show your relative ranking in terms of page views, reaches etc. You can use this ranking to compete and compare with your keen competitors. Below is a collection of methods you can use to boost your Alexa Rank. Most of the tips were gleaned from several fellow bloggers and webmasters who' ve experimented with Alexa.Other tips come from specific articles and forums. Those that I have referenced are listed at the end of this post.Do these tips work? Yes, they do. But most of them require active effort in generating traffic. They will work as long as long as you are consistently performing specific actions. To increase your Alexa rank in the long term, I would suggest coming up with quality content which draws and maintains a large audience. This is an excellent way to passively increase your Alexa rank.1. Install the Alexa toolbar or Firefox’s SearchStatus extension and set your blog as your homepage. This is the most basic step.2. Put up an Alexa rank widget on your website. I did this a few days ago and receive a fair amount of clicks every day.3. Encourage others to use the Alexa toolbar. This includes friends, fellow webmasters as well as site visitors/blog readers.4. Work in an Office? Get the Alexa toolbar or SS Firefox extension installed on all computers and set your website as the homepage for all browsers.5. Get friends to review and rate your Alexa website profile. Not entirely sure of its impact on rankings but it might help in some way.6. Write or Blog about Alexa. Webmaster and bloggers love to hear about ways to increase their Alexa rank. They’ll link to you or visit your blog, which helps with your traffic rank.7. Flaunt your URL in webmaster forums. Webmasters usually have the toolbar installed. I like doing this for a few reasons. You’ll get webmasters to visit your website and get some feedback in return. It’s also a good way to give back to the community.8. Write content that is
