some info about american express credit card
    2008-06-17 11:01:42
American Express is famous for offering two unique credit card types - those with a revolving credit line and those that must be paid in full at the end of the billing period. Cards of the latter type carry a "n/a" value in the Regular APR category as listed with each credit card below, whereas those with a line of credit will have an annual percentage rate listed. Do not mistake a "n/a" to mean that there is no interest rate associated with the corresponding card - this simply means that you must pay your balance in full or you may be subject to a large fee. See the terms and conditions for the credit card you choose before you apply to view the specifics of the payment program. Credit cards weren't always the defining product/service of American Express; in fact, the company opened its doors in 1850 as a logistics/freight company in New York. This was during a time when the United States Postal Service was unable to deliver packages that were larger than a letter, which presented a b

Gift Card Question: Using Visa or American Express Gift Cards to Shop Online
    2008-04-12 06:59:50
One of the most asked gift card questions, particularly on Yahoo Answers is whether you can use a Visa or any other bank issued gift card (American Express, Discover, or MasterCard) to shop online. The answer is yes. However, there are additional steps you have to take to prevent your card from being rejected by the merchant. The problem with using Visa (or any other bank issued) gift card online is that there is no verifiable name and address associated with the card. When buying things online, most merchants want your name and billing address to match the name and address you have on file with your card (credit, debit, or bank gift card) issuer. Therefore, before you use your Visa or other bank issued gift card, call the merchant/financial institution that issued the card or go to their website and add your name and address to the card. This will ensure that when you use the card online, the name and address you provide to the merchant for billing will match the name and address on f

    American Express Credit Cards
    2007-09-30 04:45:00
Also known as AMEX, American Express is easily one of the most recognized names in the world of credit cards. Even though many people have Visa or MasterCard credit cards, they are still interested in AMEX. With Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX being the most popular and preferred types of credit cards, they are all great although there are also differences between them as well. Both Visa and MasterCard are methods of payment. Both will allow different businesses to accept credit card payments using their systems. Neither of the two issue credit cards on their own behalf, instead they rely on banks throughout the world to issue the credit cards for them, provide the credit, and then charge the interest. Your credit card bill goes to the bank, as Visa or MasterCard doesn’t see any of it.AMEX on the other hand, is very different. American Express has their own payment system, and they also issue their credit cards directly to consumers. Unlike Visa and MasterCard, AMEX runs the entire show. Therefore, when a credit card says American Express on it, you instantly know who has issued the card, what payment system it has, and everything else you would need to know.Even though MasterCard and Visa are used more throughout the world, American Express is always expanding their networks. Visa and MasterCard are used in over twenty five million locations over the world, including third world countries, which makes them global credit card payments. AMEX on the other hand, doesn’t quite reach this degree. It is a great credit card, although it isn’t used around the world in areas where the other 2 dominant credit cards are.You can get AMEX credit cards with rewards, although you’ll need to be careful where you look and what you select. Normally, with Visa and MasterCard, you’ll have to look at hundreds of banks before you can find the best choice. With AMEX, you can look at their website and find out what they offer and what type of APR you’ll have to pay. Most of the time, you can find a credit card with low interest and a great spending limit - providing you have good credit.AMEX also has several advantages that it offers customers in North America and Europe. The credit card is accepted widely in both areas, offering you credit cards with great features and very attractive looks. AMEX offers you great rates, good rewards, and excellent customer service as well. American Express also offers you Blue, which is a newly introduced credit card that offers you increased security, no annual fee, and 0% APR for the first year or so. Depending on your credit, you may be able to get an extended period with no interest. After that time has expired, you pay low fees, which makes it a great credit card for anyone looking for a deal. Blue is the newest card from AMEX, and will rapidly become one of the best - due to it’s amazing features. In the world of credit cards, American Express is one of the best. They offer you a variety of different credit cards, designed to meet just about everyone’s needs. You find them online or through a local provider, although online is the preferred way to go. Simply fill out your application, and if you have good credit, you’ll be approved. Before you know it, you’ll have a credit card from AMEX - and be ready to experience life in the fast lane.

American Express Business Gold $250 bonus
    2007-06-28 03:26:06
American Express Business Gold Rewards Credit Card is currently running a limited promotion for 25,000 Rewards points after first purchase. The 25,000 points can be exchanged for a free round-trip airline ticket anywhere in the U.S or $250 rewards gift certificate. You can choose the $250 gift certificate from stores such as Home Depot, Gap, Blockbuster, Barnes & Noble, Banana Republic, and so on. Whether you have a home-based business or that you have sold something on Ebay, you can apply for a business credit card. You can put your name as the business name and your social security number as the tax id. Your business is called sole proprietorship and it’s perfectly legal with the IRS. There will be a hard pull, but business credit cards will not show on your personal credit report. Hence you can open and close accounts, open more new accounts, and max your credit limit without worrying about your credit report. The $250 bonus is worth a hard pull in my opinion. The $125 annual

FREE Roundtrip Plane Ticket From American Express
    2007-06-20 18:42:49
American Express Business Gold Rewards Credit Card is offering a FREE domestic round-trip airplane ticket for signing up for their card! This is by far, the most lucrative credit card sign-up offer I have EVER seen! Better yet, sign up with your spouse / significant other, and go on a much needed getaway vacation! Alternatively, you cash in your 25,000 points for a $250 rewards gift certificate, but with the price of airfare these days, you’re much better off taking the plane ticket. Check out membershiprewards.com to see a full list of gift certificates that you can redeem your points for. Although this is a business credit card, it is perfectly fine for individuals to sign-up. Simply put your personal name as your business name and leave the “Federal Tax ID” form blank, and they’ll assume that you are a sole prop

    F*ck You American Express
    2007-06-13 20:08:34
I am sick and tired of the American Express commercial that features board sports extraordinaire Shaun White. Every 25 minutes I get to be reminded that there is some 21 year old kid who is rich enough to travel the world on a whim to ride his board. I don’t have any problem with Shaun. He can ride a piece of fiberglass and he figured out how to get paid for it. Good for him. My problem is with American Express. Who is their target market with this ad? Is this like advertising cigarettes to kids? Are they hoping that the teenagers who look up to Shaun White will run out and sign up for AmEx cards? My research (three people) seems to show that this commercial just pisses off anyone over the age of 21. Sure I could change the channel but that isn’t the point. Make a commercial showing a 50 something executive buying a private goddamn jet with his AmEx card. At least then I could say “Shit I need to get my ass in gear so that I can buy a jet when I get older.” My lady friend said

Insiders Buying American ExpressTwo insiders purchased 2,000 shares of American Express (AXP) over the past two days. Building on my previous AXP post, this may be another signal that the shares hold significant value. It should also be noted that insiders purchased 2,000 and 16,200 shares in January for about today's share price.

American Express: Still A Buy After Earnings Miss ...
    2007-01-24 04:55:00
American Express: Still A Buy After Earnings MissHeavy expenses caused American Express (AXP) to miss earnings estimates by a penny. Big deal. The company will still achieve about 15% earnings growth for at least the next 3-5 years. Expenses are a factor but the conservative management team should not have a problem keeping earnings in line. An excellent opportunity will exist if shares fall to the low $50 range. A 40-50% upside could be had from that level. Even at the current price the stock is an excellent long term play. MorningStar.com maintained a 5 Star rating on the company stating the following: (AXP) has a fantastic business model. Because Amex cardholders tend to spend more, on average, the company is able to levy a higher per-transaction fee on participating merchants. What's more, since Amex uses its own network to process transactions, it has access to the cardholder and merchant side of any transaction. As such, the company issues the card and maintains the customer rel

AMERICAN EXPRESS LOOKS CHEAP GOING INTO EARNINGS ...
    2007-01-22 00:39:00
AMERICAN EXPRESS LOOKS CHEAP GOING INTO EARNINGS American Express (AXP) reports earnings tomorrow. Expected earnings results are 76 cents per share. The 52-week range is $49.73 - $62.50 and the stock currently trades at $58.09.What does Joel Greenblatt think of the company? Joel Greenblatt, founder of the Gotham Capital hedge fund, thinks investors have yet to appreciate how much more profitable the stand-alone business really is. While a pullback in consumer spending could hurt the credit card business in general, cards are increasingly becoming the preferred method of payment over cash in a trend that isn't likely to change. AmEx also has a wealthier customer base than Visa, MasterCard and Discover, and a virtual lock on the corporate sector. "If you are going to do any business with corporations, you really need to accept the American Express card," says GreenblattAmEx, which is expected to earn $3.7 billion, or about $3 a share, on revenue of $27 billion this year, can afford to
