| Xbox Live Arcade Game Size Limit Raised To 350MB | | 2008-05-23 13:38:57 | | Xbox Live Arcade's worldwide games portfolio planner David Edery revealed that the size limit imposed upon XBLA titles has been raised from 150MB to 350MB, according to a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz.Q: And you're upping the size of Xbox Live Arcade games as well to 350 megabytes? David Edery: Yeah, it's a steady progress. We've been listening to our partners, listening to our customers to try and get a feel for what's right. We don't want the size limit to hit the roof because we think there's some value in promoting small pick and play experiences that don't cost USD 20 million, it's good for the ecosystem. Obviously, this should please those developers looking for more space for their titles, but those gamers stuck with the Xbox 360's default 20GB hard drive might not be so pleased about the $180 hard drive upgrade they may need very soon. | | Joystiq interview: Penny Arcade Adventures - SendMeRSS | | 2008-03-03 20:16:22 | | Joystiq interview: Penny Arcade AdventuresFiled under: PC, Microsoft Xbox 360, Adventure, RPGs, Interviews, GDC It's fair to say that quite a lot is expected from Vancouver-based developer, Hothead Games. The group not only has to deliver a series of downloadable and episodic adventure RPGs in regular intervals, but also appease a fanbase so large and rabid that it can click your website to death -- accidentally, if you're lucky. On top of all that, the poor developers are occasionally dragged into a tiny room for the sole purpose of being poked by a plethora of questions regarding their upcoming games.Penny Arcade Adventures producer, Joel DeYoung, and Hothead creative director, Ron Gilbert, had to endure just such a prodding during GDC, the results of which can be viewed after the break. Appropriately enough, our interview's almost as long as the title of the first episode: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.Gallery: Penny Arcade AdventuresContinue reading Joystiq intervie | | By: Online Games | | |

We never know what we're going to see there first hand, from fresh rhymes to Metroid attacks, and this year's event, taking place from August 29-31, looks to up the ante with a showcase of independent games called PAX 10.Event organizers are currently seeking indie talent to show off during the event, and devs can submit their creations online for consideration from now until May 7, after which a panel of 50 "industry experts," including PA's own Gabe and Tycho, will decide which ten submissions represent the crème of the crop based on gameplay and that all important "fun factor." The home-grown games will each be shown as part of the event's PAX 10 exhibit, and attendees will be able to vote on which one tickles their fanc | | By: Online Games

Last we heard it was to be released sometime between April and June 2008. You can launch a game you want to play with someone else from within Home. The first game to use this is the Incognito aerial dogfighter Warhawk. You’ll be given access to a “war room” where up to 8 players can meet up to discuss their strategies for an upcoming match. While that in itself may not sound exciting, these strategies you discuss can be planned using a 3D “sand table” replication of the level you’re about to play!
| | Sensible World of Soccer Pulled From Live Arcade - SendMeRSS | | 2007-12-19 14:49:09 | | Sensible World of Soccer Pulled From Live Arcade A game-crippling bug has prompted Codemasters to pull Sensible World of Soccer from Xbox Live Arcade mere hours after it was added to the service. The bug apparently signs players out of Xbox Live and prevents them from signing back in until they manually return to the dashboard. Microsoft and Codemasters are looking into the problem. If you've already downloaded it, you'll have to delete it and redownload it when the fixed version is added to the Arcade, assuming you want to be able to play over Live. Which, with a game like Sensible, is kind of the whole point. Sensei pulled from Xbox Live [CVG] Link - Wed, 19 Dec 2007 12:20:05 GMT - Feed (1 subs) Sent using SendMeRss.com. | | | Exiting and Action based Halo 3 Montage video and a halo arcade game | | 2007-12-09 17:21:53 | | "Ladies and gentlemen please, would you bring your attention to me" - From the song in this video. Hehe, very well picked music and I like it. It makes any type of Halo video so much better I think. Here we have lots of good action filled halo moments, brought to us by "Motaxs". Maybe some parts where a little too fast paced, even for an action addict like myself :p It can be nicer to see things in slow motion in Halo3 though. Also I would like to share a cool halo arcade game. OK, its not a GREAT game. Taking in consideration that I really wanted to share halo related flash games with you guys and girls now, it is somewhat decent game, and the amount of halo flash games are very limited at the moment. Its called the Warthhog Launch ;)Here it is anyway: | | By: Funny and Amazing Halo 3 Videos | | |

| | Panic! Coin-op arcade style shooter | | 2006-09-30 11:57:00 | | Got yourself too lazy and need a game to waste your time? Panic is what you're looking for. With it's simple coin-op arcade style, it's a good way to have some fun. The game's idea is very close to Astro-Panic, a game released for Commodore 64 back in 1984.Your objective is to shoot down all the flying saucers in the screen before one of them hits your space ship. For every wave of saucers you clear, another saucer is added on the next level, faster and though harder to eliminate. The higher you hit a saucer and the faster it is, the more points you get. Panic features a highscore list also, a fact that could make you go for another game after you loose. The game's visuals are following the arcade theme, so everything you see is made of back, grey and white lines, spiced up with red coloured particle effects to animate the destruction of a saucer. Background music is in the same style and so are the sound effects. Plain sounds combined, bringing a good result in sum. An option to disable music could be useful though, in case the player is bored to hear the same track repeatedly. There's an option to disable sound completely, but this way you will not hear the sound effects.Panic has pretty easy gameplay and you'll get in the mood as soon as you start playing. To move around use your mouse. Click the left mouse button to shoot. And that's all.A good game coming from Coin-Op Interactive, created by Sander van der Vegte.Link: Panic!Historical information: Astro-Panic 1984 review page A and page B.
