| Obama Within 10 Points of McCain in Arizona | | 2008-06-30 15:28:18 | | Barack Obama on stage at a campaign event. (Photo by Flickr) Senator Barack Obama has such wide appeal that he has turned Senator John McCain’s home state into a possible battle ground. According to a new poll by Rasmussen, Obama is now within just 9 points of McCain in Arizona. McCain is trailing Obama among women by 6 points. According to the Huffington Post, a poll conducted by Cronkite/Eight found that Obama was only trailing by 10 points. That same poll found that 28 percent were going to vote for Obama and 34 percent of the electorate were still undecided. These numbers have to be a strong indication as to the senator’s electability. McCain has been a senator for the state of Arizona since 1986 and has been an elected official from Arizona since 1982. The majority of citizens in Arizona are either voting for Obama or not sure if they want to vote for the presidential candidate from their own state. | Great Arizona Pitching Dooms Boston...D'backs 2 Red Sox 1...More About Carlin | | 2008-06-24 04:27:00 | | What can you say about last night's game except this - Dan Haren was unbeatable. The Red Sox only managed two hits with no runs in the seven innings he pitched, and scored their only run off Pena, who pitched the eighth. Josh Beckett, who knew he had to go eight innings to give the overworked Boston bullpen a breather, did exactly that, and he pitched great, too. He would have won most games with a pitching line like last night's. But a bobble by Moss, who was playing first base because Kevin Youkilis was hit below his right eye on a one-hop throw from Mike Lowell, proved costly, allowing one of the two D'back runs to score. Youk was taken out immediately because the eye started to swell within seconds. Today, he will wake up with quite the shiner, and I hope that's all. The D'backs scored both of their runs in that seventh inning, and they stood up. But the story of the game was Arizona pitcher Dan Haren, who is one of the best in all of baseball. | Arizona's Special Interest Laundry List | | 2008-06-23 23:00:00 | | A new Tax Foundation Fiscal Fact examines a package of proposed subsidies and special tax breaks for favored industries, currently under consideration in the Arizona state legislature. Typically, with packages of lobbyist-driven handouts such as these, the actual value to state residents is inversely proportional to the sponsors' soaring language regarding their benefits. So when Arizonans are told that the package's effects will be "bringing in new manufacturing jobs, revitalizing urban areas, attracting tourists, maintaining or expanding the Cactus League and stabilizing the construction market," they should check to make sure they are still in possession of their wallets. The Arizona State House's press release announcing the proposals grandly reports that "no current general fund money would be used for the projects." Technically, that's true. However, the difference between the government (1) collecting a tax and then cutting a check to a favored business, or ( | | By: Tax Policy Blog | | |

| GPS system used to track sex offenders in southern Arizona | | 2008-05-29 09:01:02 | | Anthony Garcia got busted, not by a cop on the street, but by an eye in the sky.The 18-year-old registered sex offender got too close to a couple of schools, and he didn't stick to his probation-officer-approved schedule. His probation officer wasn't anywhere around, but he knew where Garcia had been because of a satellite-based GPS tracking system quietly put into use 18 months ago. Since late 2006, some child molesters who are placed on probation have been required to wear Global Positioning System ankle bracelets that track where they are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Probation officers can download data whenever they want to check where a defendant has been and whether they're keeping to their pre-approved schedules. Or, the officers can sit at a computer screen to watch a probationer move from place to place in real-time, said David Sanders, Pima County's chief probation officer.Pima County probation officers are monitoring nine local residents, plus 16 people who live in other | | By: Gps News update and Gps Review. | | |

| Arizona Voters to Recall Senator McCain? | | 2008-05-22 14:12:05 | | Most amusing concept ever? Here's a plea to the Arizona voters to Recall John McCain, which would be just down right funny, but... it might also give a phenomenal long shot chance for Dr. Ron Paul to be tapped for the Republican nomination for US President.
The Revolution is heating up and Senator John McCain now finds himself at war with his own party. In particular, the Ron Paul r3volution!
It is my idea to start a recall petition drive against McCain, within his home state of Arizona; as a RINO (republican in name only) McCain cannot, should not, and will not be the standard barer for the Republican Party.
Please Start the Recall Petition process to remove McCain as Arizona's US Senator...

I feel for him, because he was a Top 10 pick last year. That is a whole lot of guaranteed money lost on the table. He should do well in Arizona, where he has guys like Antrel Rolle and Edgerrin James to welcome him into the NFL. He has got a lot to learn, but has the passion and physical tools to become a top defensive end in the NFL. Next up should be Tavares Gooden in the next hour, or early tomorrow morning. | Bridgeview Luxury Condominiums in Arizona | | 2008-04-13 15:03:11 | | Selling condominiums might have been a tough task a while back but there has been an increase of people purchasing them off late. Such has been the case in the Arizona Republic that recently saw the opening of Bridgeview, a luxury condo tower on the south shore of Tempe Town Lake. The 12-story tower has views of the lake and bridges (and so the name) as well as neighbouring towns and the mountains. The $140 million building is situated on the 17-acre Hayden Ferry Lakeside mixed-use site that also includes office space and retail. A luxury hotel might also be constructed here. A few features at Bridgeview are a lounge, a library with a fireplace, a business centre, a demonstration and catering kitchen, a dining room/supper club, a home theatre, billiards room, a gym with a sauna and steam room, an outdoor heated pool and spa, an outdoor barbeque area, a zen garden and a putting course, to mention a few. Global warming alarmists only have it half right, as there only talking about the 20 foot increase in the ocean's levels and the extreme heat. They forgot to mention that this will flip the pendulum the other way and cause an Ice Age and it is all because of man's polluting with CO2 and greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. In fact global warming alarmists are also considering claiming that continental drift, volcanoes, solar flares and the collective consciousness that drive's Prozac sales are all being caused by mankind's CO2 emissions and pollution, which is causing the global warming.Global warming alarmists are now investing in solar companies because it will be so hot and so sunny that they figure that there wi | | By: Global Warming Articles - Information on Global Wa

From once being a multi-million dollar, top-secret research facility, to becoming a popular tourist destination in the Tucson area, Bio2 has evolved into a one-of-a-kind scientific gem. It boasts a truly amazing architectural design as well as an incredible variety of plant life.I have always had a deep love for Bio2 and a passion for the educational work being conducted there. In 1998, before it was opened to the public for tours, I spent time inside the spaceframe through Columbia University's Earth Systems Field School. My white paper entitled, "The Biosphere 2 Center: Loss of Biodiversity Within the Marsh Biome (Mangrove Estuary)," later received an Honorable Mention Louise Wetherbee Phelps Award at Syracuse University.A decade later, although the center is under new management (the University of Arizona), it continues to provide us with a lo | | By: Stay Famous by Michael Aaron Gallagher

The game is on TV! The game is on TV! The cool half of today's split-squad game will be broadcast on WGN at 2:05 CT this afternoon!
Today's game (inexplicably) marks the return of Alfonsio Soriano, sidelined way back on March 2 with a broken finger.
Today is March 8.
So he took off 6 days for a broken digit, which one would think is somewhat necessary for the playing of the baseball. Not to be the jerk who feels the need to point this out, but what gives? It's ST training. Take another week off. Hell, take two. No offense, but you kind of have a history of coming back from injuries WAY too early (see,e.g. hamstring, strained; and quadracep, pulled). Just just take it easy for a while, will ya, Fonz? Don't sprain or (God forbid) TWIST anything (ask Felix, it sucks).

| Was There, Or Was There Not A Plan To Attack An Arizona Base? | | 2007-11-28 22:34:00 | | I suppose it's all in who you ask. Like many, I've been feeling a little 'put-off' by some of the choices being made by some of our government officials over the last couple years. My own governor here in California decided to support the gay agenda by signing the SB 777, AB 14 and AB 394 bills. Democrats in the House and Senate breaking from actual politics to wage a crusade against American citizens. And so much partisan posturing, that nothing is actually being accomplished in moving America forward. All this adds up to having less faith in our elected governmental representatives, and what they say.Don't get me wrong, there are a few out there who are actually trying to make the difference. But their voices are mostly drowned out by the constant "our party is better" battle cries.Case in point; a recent article by Sara A. | Arizona Sergeant May Be Charged in His K-9 Partner's Death | | 2007-09-06 23:58:32 | | "This was a difficult decision," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. "I am certain Sergeant Lovejoy has suffered greatly from leaving his dog in a sweltering car. I do not relish the idea of compounding his sadness. However, Lovejoy must be treated like anyone else in similar circumstances."
I'm sick. Just sick. Sergeant Lovejoy has suffered greatly??!! Not greater than Bandit, he didn't, Sheriff Arpaio.
I am at a loss to understand how one could go on about his business the way this officer did and not check on the whereabouts of his so-called close companion. They are supposed to be partners, and partners are supposed to care about one another.
Twelve hours went by, people...TWELVE HOURS. My heart is breaking at the thought of what poor Bandit suffered there in that oven-like car.
Six months in jail is not enough time to be served for the death of this innocent life!!!!! I say three years without parole would be a more justified sentence.

| Arizona Student Suspended for Drawing Picture of a Gun | | 2007-08-24 19:30:32 | | Was this an overreaction? definitely. Can I understand it? definitely. To put it bluntly, these days, school officials are very frightened of anything that is related to a gun in the school and I can't say that I blame them. When I was a kid, someone in one of my classes could have drawn a picture of a gun and it wouldn't have caused an eye blink. Today, unfortunately, this is no longer the case and it is a very sad state of affairs. Given this fact, I do not think school students should be drawing pictures of guns on their assigment papers unless the subject of the assignment warrants them to do so. I am glad that The Mostellers were able to have their son's suspension reduced to a more reasonable amount of time and hopefully this will be a lesson to students in the future who feel that they can draw pictures of guns without any consequence while in a school setting.

| Will Arizona win NL West? | | 2007-07-26 18:02:00 | | The Padres have lost five of six and are in a panic mode. The Dodgers have lost five of seven and seem to be swimming upstream against the current. So, how about those Arizona Diamondbacks to win the NL West? The Diamondbacks, who have won five straight, are just 1 ½ games behind the division-leading Dodgers. They are one-half game behind the Padres; who can’t hit … and suddenly can’t pitch. As much as the Padres might try to spin it differently, the Scott Linebrink trade for three minor leaguers with Milwaukee was not about this season. If it were, pitchers such as Jake Peavy and David Wells would not have been so outspoken about it.Linebrink has been terrible lately, but who hasn’t among the Padres? Take away Chris Young, Milton Bradley and Brian Giles (at times), then tell me who has been shining this month.Marcus Giles looks to be all but history at second base. | Olsen on Track to Start Wednesday in Arizona | | 2007-07-23 14:57:37 | |
Despite landing in legal trouble this weekend Fredi Gonzalez plans to have Scott Olsen make his scheduled start on Wednesday in Arizona. Fredi wants to let the legal system run its course and allow Scott to go on with his life until he is needed by the law.
”It’s not like it’s over with,” Gonzalez said. “We’re still wading through a lot of stuff. It’s not a decision [whether to start Olsen on Wednesday]. We’re still talking about it. But [right now] the plan is that he is going to pitch Wednesday.”
Obviously everyone is innocent until proven guilty but I really feel it’s the responsibility of the team to set the message that this kid needs help. Chances are Scott is going to come out Wednesday and throw the game of his career. Or he will have so much weighing on his mind he will have a horrible start.

| Home Value Trends in Arizona | | 2007-07-01 09:06:00 | | For months now you've heard the media and industry experts moan about how the real estate market is in a dive, the housing bubble is about to burst wide open and the national median home value is decreasing. If you're tired of all that bad news, here's some good news for you: the real estate market really isn't as bad as they say. Maybe, by looking at the state of the market on a national level, it has the appearance of such a gloomy forecast. In reality, the real estate market varies from area to area, and the national home value median isn't important for you to know if you're thinking of buying, selling or relocating. (But if you're curious, the median home value in 2006 was $221,900). The only market you should be worried about is the one in the area you're selling or buying. Before deciding to sell your home, or move to a new area, it is important to get an idea not just of the average home value and rate of sale, but the economy, employment, and attractions in that area.Arizona is well known for it's bustling capital city of Phoenix, a hot spot of cultural, natural and historical value. The whole state of Arizona has much to offer residents or visitors in the way of job opportunities, real estate and attractions. The economy is based around agricultural production in cattle, cotton, diary, lettuce and hay, while their industries focus on mining, electric and transportation equipment, machinery, printing and publishing, food processing, electronics and tourism. These markets are steady enough that job opportunities are all around, keeping the state a prime locale for new residents, which in turn helps stabilize the real estate market and home value averages.Arizona is also home to one of the 7 Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon, which is the biggest tourist draw in the state. Other attractions include bustling nightlife of the major cities of Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff (where visitors and locals alike partake in the myriad bars, billiards, casin | | By: United States Realty | | |

| First Time DUI Offenders in Arizona Must Use a DUI Ignition Device in Their Vehicles | | 2007-06-24 01:22:00 | |
From the MADD website: According to preliminary data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2006, 17,941 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes - an average of one every half-hour. These deaths constituted approximately 41 percent of the 43,300 total traffic fatalities. Drunk (those at or above an illegal BAC of .08) drivers were involved in 13,990 fatalities in 2006. AppallingAvoidableDisturbingUnnecessaryIn my opinion, if every vehicle we drive would be equipped with this device, I think not only would the incidents of people driving drunk plummet down as the years go by, but so would the incidents of people being killed by drunk drivers. What is an ignition interlock device? it is a built-in blood-alcohol breath test that requires the driver to exhale below 0.025 percent before the vehicle will start at all. Think I am being too tough on us my readers? well perhaps you will think differently once you have read this heartwrenching poem about DUI.R | | By: Marilyn's Non-Violent Planet Newspage
