Formerly, these subject strings did not prompt the creation of subject authority records, because they contained free-floating subdivision[s].Some of these records are being created manually by the Cataloging Policy and Support Office staff, and some will be generated by machine, but all of them will be reviewed before distribution occurs. It seems Technorati has recently changed a thing they used to call "Blogs that link here" to "Authority". They simply changed it. Nothing new was added. What’s equally important are the changes made to individual user and blog profile pages. There is the insertion of dedicated search engines which allow one to search within a blog, as well as a consolidation of WTF blurbs and user favorites within one page.

New ‘Authority’ Rank and LinkCount Rank
The actual link count with number of blogs linking to your blog has disappeared, only to be replaced by several Rank and ‘Authority’ numbers. The ‘Authority‘ rank is now used to measure the position of a blog on Technorati’s Top 100 Most Linked-To list.

Every generation has progressed more in the same direction because The Shift is dissolving the old habit of submission to authority. Traditionally, organizations were run on hierarchies of authority.
