Ross Nelson, of The Heise Bros., new band- The Hit & Mrs. has released their first full length CD, Buried in the Backyard of My Heart. This is the follow up to their web exclusive ( http://www.100under60.com ) release, 100under60. Which was a testament to speed music featuring 100 tracks each of them under 60 seconds. This more traditional length release features 12-tracks with a running time of 41 minutes. The music is a blend of alternative rock and alt. country with a splash of punk added in to the mix. The band pulls on musical influences, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Paul Westerberg, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Modern Lovers and T.Rex. The release starts-off with the song, "Hijaxed" an alt. country harmonica filled song that's a little reminiscent of Blues Traveler. The songs feature somewhat quirky lyrics that deal with issues of love, relationships, dreams, and disappointments. The lyrics have both a quirky and gallows humor side to them with lines like, 'Hijacked perhaps by the Taliban', and repeated verses like, 'This is a prank that climbs the ranks of revenge and superstition', and 'I'm a graveyard digger'.
