| Baguio City Trip report | | 2008-06-28 00:08:00 | | After our exhausting trip to Bataan i decided to stay in Pampanga for one more day met with some friends for a night out got drunk and next thing i know me and my friend merz is on the bus on our way to baguio. its a city in the north of the Philippines it was established by Americans in 1900 and was dubbed as the Summer Capital Of The Philippines because of its cool weather almost all year long. baguio is about 5 hours away from pampanga and i thing 6 to 7 from manila we rode victory liner bus my favorite bus for northern trips it cost us 297 php from Dau terminal to baguio while it will cost you double when you are coming from manila. when we get off the bus we check out the tourist information cbooth too look for some cheaper accomodation all of them are cheap but we are looking for real cheap accomodation as we are just planning to stay for a few hours not over night so we just decided to walk around and found this transient house not so far away from victory liner teminal the lo... | | By: TravelPhilippines | | |

BAGUIO CITY — Baguio City, generally regarded as the “Summer Capital” of the Philippines, may yet have another feather in its cap — RP’s Convention Capital — courtesy of local leaders of the travel and tourism sector.
“We want all roads leading to Baguio not only during summer, but throughout the year,” said Dangal Guevara Jr., an officer of the Baguio Conventions and Visitors Bureau (BCVB).
Noting this mountain city’s consistently cool climate even as lowlanders swelter in blistering heat, Guevara said that selling Baguio as a convention center can’t be too difficult. He said that people flock to Baguio for several other reasons. “There are many ways to package Baguio — as a university city, a honeymoon haven, or a travel and adventure destination.” (more…)

| On-going Baguio road and canal repair for safety and comfort | | 2007-06-17 01:47:29 | | BAGUIO CITY - City Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr. has assured residents and tourists here the on-going rehabilitation of national and city roads and adjacent drainage canals with linear length of more than five kilometers will enhance the mountain resort’s safety during the coming rainy months.
Bautista said he recognizes the great inconvenience of hundreds of motorists and commuters in their daily battle with monstrous traffic as they move towards the city’s central business district but “In the long run, their sacrifices will be repaid by better roads and canals especially in the rainy months of July and August.” (more…)
