| HOBS (House of Beers) | | 2008-06-15 15:31:49 | | I have seen the light and been converted. It is now official: SSS drinks beer~~!!!!!From now on, that is. And only the expensive kind. As in imported European (Belgian) kind.Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a glass of wine now and then, a cocktail here and there, Japanese sake to go with my sushi or Korean soju with BBQ, and so on and so forth...But I just never liked beer. I can stomach Asahi or Heineken or Budweiser (Kloster was actually my so-called "favorite"), but I truly abhor the rest. I swear, Singha beer tastes like PEE (not as if I actually TASTED pee before, but... y'know what I mean). And don't even get me started with Leo or Chang or whatever animal the beer people come up with next. That is... until I found HOBS (House of Beers).Situated right across J-Avenue (Thonglo 15) on the ground floor of Penny's Balcony, HOBS is actually slated to officially open next month, but a friend knows the manager/partner and paved the way for my enlightenment a bit earlier. ALLELUIAAAA~~!!!!!HOBS | | By: Street Smart Sukhumvit | | |
| | The Mayonnaise Jar and Two Beers. | | 2008-05-10 18:26:41 | |
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.
Hoosierteacher stood before the crowded lecture hall at MHR University. Styg, Guru, Zappa, mdierk( the A students) were all in the front row, eager to learn. Firstfan was in the back with his dunce cap on. All of the students were there. Super7 and Jon Tollerud were hoping for an in-depth discussion of the now famous 3-3-5 defense. But instead Hoosierteacher had some unusual items in front of him.
When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large, empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. Hoosierteacher then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full . They agreed it was.

| Beers Reviewed | | 2008-04-01 08:57:00 | | I've started to do video beer reviews and have started a new blog for those posts. I have also decided to provide captions on these videos for the hearing impaired. This beer review is the first one to have captions and I'm still a little rusty on getting everything correct. You can view the other videos at Beers Reviewed. If you have any suggestions on improving the reviews, please contact me.Highlights: Kind of a bland beer. Good beer to drink after cutting the grass. I give it a Good, middle rating. My BlogsBeer Recipes – Making Homemade Wine and Beer – Wine Recipes

Chon le dice: 'Juana, agáchate y pasa por debajo de la cerca, que yo la

| | New Beers for Tuesday Sept. 11th | | 2007-09-11 19:13:00 | | Another day, another pile of new beer.Stone 11th Anniversary: Once again, Stone delivers a palate-bending experience with their special release brew. This years' anniversary ale can perhaps best be described as an India Dark Ale. This is a relatively new "style" and the only examples I've had were Phillips' Black Toque and the Rogue Black Brutal, but I like the trend and hope to see more of these in the future. Stone 11th seeks to bridge the gap between light and dark by loading up with hops and applying a liberal dose of de-husked black malt (to provide color without imparting too much roasty/burnt flavors) and in the end it seems to capture the essence of both without either overpowering the other. Several people on Ratebeer have gone so far as to label it as a "chocolate IPA", and I can understand why. Like all Stone special release beers, there's never supply enough to meet demand, so if you enjoy it be sure to snatch up as much as you can before it's gone.We also got a few new Belgian beers in today, most of which are either new to me or have been MIA for so long that I can't trust my mental tasting notes. I'll post our thoughts as we consume them, otherwise feel free to check out ratebeer.com or beeradvocate.com for more information.Vapuer en Folie:Saison de Pipaix:Glazen Toren Saison d'Erpe:Glazen Toren Cuvee Angelique:Glazen Toren Ondenike:P.S. I haven't forgotten the tasting notes from last week, but I've been fighting allergies for the last few days and I figured I'd wait to drink the new guys until I could fully appreciate them. | | By: Belmont Station Beer Forum | | |
| | Beers, Night Sweats, and Hives | | 2007-09-03 05:45:00 | | Here I sit, after taking a break from reading The Great Gatsby and I feel hives breaking out on my body. Stomach, arm, back, ears. I have NO idea why. I haen't gotten them since I have been on Humira, but got them during my remicade infusions. I am baffled as to why I have them now. I had a few beers tonight and just took an ambien, so I don' want to take a benadryl. Ahh, the fun of being me! Earlier today I was able to hit the gym for weights and the treadmill before taking a 15 mile bike ride in the midday heat. | | By: Living with Crohn's Disease | | |

| | | Organic Beers | | 2007-03-26 22:14:00 | | There are many connotations to “organic.” Debates on healthiness and sustainability juxtaposed with marketing stratagem surrounding organics are a slippery slope that I don’t want to get into here. When it comes to beer, USDA certified organic sales, though on the rise, still pale in comparison to the others, much like micro brew sales still pale in comparison to those huge domestic breweries.United States organic beer sales grew by over $10M between 2003 and 2005 (Canfield, 2006 Associated Press) and are likely still on the up and up. The ideas surrounding organics has for some become a marketable and lucrative operative, while in the old days, people were readily preparing and consuming organics. There was then, and is still now no need to use the nomenclature and employ pointed certification.Butte Creek brewing from Chico, California is now distributed in half of the US states, up from a dozen states three years ago.
