| | Clutch Tip: Headbands as Belts | | 2008-05-20 12:58:17 | | In my last post, I showed pics of a dress I bought from the Gap last week that would have been nothing short of dowdy if worn all by itself (on me anyway).
The deep hue and black tie back detail were too tempting to pass up, so I decided to get crafty by using two black stretchy headbands to sinch [...] | | By: Clutch 22 | Fashion & Shopping Insider

| Fashion Trend 2008: Belts | | 2008-01-17 09:47:49 | | From wide and organic to dainty and feminine, belts are all the rage for Spring 2008 fashions. The cinched-waist look is most suitable for women who naturally have a long torso. Super-skinny belts worn high above the waist can also create a flattering silhouette. Skinny belts continue to be popular, especially in patent leather:The Proenza Schouler Spring Show featured darker hues than normal for spring—a refreshing twist from the pastels from other shows. Fabrics are rich in texture, and some with shimmer and shine, as well. Proenza Schouler Belted Sleeveless Coat DressWide belts are being worn with dresses, sweaters, and coats:Gwen Stefani's fashion label LAMB has definitely made its mark in the fashion world. I just love this jazzy little number.LAMB Belted Evening DressA belted coat completes the ensemble beautifully:You can't have the complete belted look without the old standby, the trenchcoat. Kenneth Cole Reaction TrenchcoatSingle-Breasted Melton Trenchcoat with Button DetailWhether you tie it or buckle it, the belted look is here to stay, for the foreseeable future, anyway. A fitted tee on top paired with a skirt that flows out below the belted waist—that works. Slip on a cropped jacket with a longer shirt for a work-appropriate look. Update last year's tunic or long vest just by adding a snazzy belt. I love a wide belt worn with a long cardigan. For the voluptuous woman, wearing a full skirt or wide-leg pants will help to create the illusion of a narrower waistline. Or a wider belt worn high at the waist—but don't cinch it up too tight! | | By: Designing Divas Handcrafted Jewelry Independent De | | |
| | Fasten Seat Belts | | 2007-12-07 01:32:00 | | Flying to Los Angeles from San Francisco the other day, a passenger noticed that the "Fasten Seat Belts" sign was kept lit during the whole journey although the flight was a particularly smooth one.Just before landing, he asked the stewardess about it."Well," she explained, "up front there are 17 University of California girls going to Los Angeles for the weekend."In back, there are 25 Coast Guard enlistees. | | Maybe we can’t make ‘em wear belts | | 2007-12-06 09:47:46 | | Not too long ago, I posted on the war on indecency and wrote that “apparently, saggy pants, like Socrates, are corrupting the youth and the collapse of civilization is nigh”.
You see, exposing underwear in public is bad.
See what I mean? Isn’t that horrible?
Now, not surprisingly, its crossed some minds that baggy pants bans might just [...] | | By: Hell's Handmaiden

| | What proportion of a company’s workforce should be Belts? | | 2007-10-24 18:16:31 | | [link, link]
I do not believe that any recommendation should really exist. It is dependent on the company, its requirements and its targets. I think a minimum break-even point would be interesting, although I dont know the best way of calculating that. The GE global guideline of 1% of the workforce being assigned as Black [...] | | By: learn about lean & six-sigma
| | Body Wraps Or Waist Belts Can Help Lose Inches But Not Lose Fat | | 2007-10-21 20:10:13 | | Body wrap ups and waistline belts that shrivel fatty cell are unfortunately not true. This is the common misconception for most people. For centuries organic structure wrap ups are seen as the redress for losing weight in many expensive watering places or weight loss shops!! There are those who even curse by it. Many say that they assist in losing the organic structure weight, even the fat and | | By: Fat loss | | |
| | Vintage Belts | | 2007-09-24 17:22:35 | | Lately it seems like women everywhere are taking hold of the latest fashion trend to cinch the waist with a belt. Whether you’re looking to cinch your waist or add a splash of color, belts are the way to go. Gone are the days of hiding this staple. Wear them over your jumpers, jackets and high-waisted pants or skirts or anything. They even look good wrapped around a coat! Apparently, the high location of the belt has a thinning effect and gives some girls that coveted hourglass figure. It's essential to keep everything simple in order to achieve the desired look. | | By: Makeup And Beauty Tips | | |
| | UFC 75: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Defeats Dan Henderson, Unifies the UFC and Pride Light Heavyweight Belts | | 2007-09-09 06:31:54 | | UFC 75 had very entertaining fights.Mirko CroCop failed to redeem himself against Cheick Kongo after his most recent loss to Gabriel Gonzaga. In the beginning of the match, CroCop kept Kongo backpedaling. This aggressive style seemed to work well and allowed him to totally neutralize Kongo. Amazingly, Mirko was able to put Kongo in a full mount and almost achieved an armbar in the skirmish. In the second round, however, Cheick Kongo came out on the attack and scored a takedown. He also demonstrated a pretty decent ground game. When the two rose again, Kongo landed some devastating knees to the body in the clinch. In the final round, Crocop got kneed in the groin, but Kongo was relentless. Consequently, Crocop was simply reacting to the onslaught instead of being the aggressor. To be honest, he looked very slow and it appears he has passed his prime. Nevertheless, he left us with some great memories.Later on the card, the fight between Michael Bisping and Matt Hamill was very en | | By: Copious Dissent - Your Daily Dose of Liberty | | |
| | UFC 75 Updates: Jackson-Henderson, Belts Not on the Line | | 2007-07-03 16:00:00 | | It looks like UFC 75’s card was almost too good to be true. In a recent article released by the OCregister, The main event of the night between UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and PRIDE’s 83 kg and 93 kg champion Dan Henderson has now been demoted to a non-title fight. Crap jackers, I know.Carlos Arias of the Orange County Register reported the following snippet at a UFC 73 conference call held last week, Dana White said:"No. What we’re doing with that thing is we’re respecting both (the UFC and PRIDE) titles. The UFC title is the UFC champion and we’re respecting Dan as the PRIDE champion. Quinton will walk out with his belt if Dan wins and vice versa."I guess the “Champion vs. Champion” title for UFC 75 was meant in a more direct and literal sense than anything else. There may even be a possibility of the bout being stripped down to a typical three five-minute round non-title match. The Lianger | | By: The Irish Whip | | |
| | | Where have all the vintage belts gone? | | 2006-08-09 15:47:00 | | I've asked myself, many times over. It's a real nifty thing to have a matching belt to your dress whether it's contemporary or vintage - but a minor annoyance to finding, buying or selling a vintage dress can quite frequently mean the matching belt is missing, often a rather nondescript belt that can easily be replaced with something generic & modern. But sometimes you can only assume that it was rather unique with details only a vintage belt would have. Most often when I present something that possesses belt loops & no belt for sale, I only mention it as a characteristic of the item & assume the future owner will come up with a suitable replacement, maybe something creative. Vintage wearers are known for their creativity anyway. Vintage scarfs, which come in so many different patterns & lovely silks & chiffons are often used to cinch the waist as a replacement and do just fine. They're economical too & can be had at copious amounts for spare change most of the time (as long as it's not a Hermes or something). And lots of garments can have their loops removed & look just fine sans belt.I've just added this Suzy Perette to my inventory -and of course it has loops, but no belt. The dress is a completely wearable stunner regardless but a good example of a good dress gone beltless. Here are 2 of my items that I've gone ahead and added an interesting belt to - this dynamite circle skirt -to which I added a contemporary corset style belt, which I think looks great. And I threw in this faux gold lame type belt (kind of 80s I believe) to cinch the waist of this full skirted vintage cotton dress that for some reason looked lackluster without it's belt even though the print is smashing - there was something about the combination of the two.... | | By: Mystique Vintage Clothing Blog | | |
