    2008-05-27 20:56:18
If you overeat on a regular basis in order to cope with stress or negative feelings then it is quite possible that you suffer from a binge eating disorder. In addition, the over eater feels even worse after they have finished their binge. An important point to note is that this condition is treatable. Therefore, please consult a physician as soon as possible if you suffer from this condition.A binge eating disorder is seen as compulsive overeating where the person eats a large amount of food without being able to stop eating or control their eating. These episodes can last for a couple of hours at a time. In some cases, the individual will eat off and on all day long. They will eat when they are not hungry and will not stop eating even when they are completely full. Another symptom is that they could eat so fast that they do not even register what they have just eaten. As you can see, a binge eating disorder can be extremely harmful. Binge Drinking... In Indonesia?
    2008-02-05 04:49:09
Binge drinking is a big problem in the UK. BBC reported thatBritain's binge drinking culture is costing the country £20 billion a year, according to a government report. The study by the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit shows 17 million working days are lost to hangovers and drink-related illness each year. The annual cost to employers is estimated to be £6.4 billion while the cost to the NHS is in the region of £1.7bn. Billions more are spent clearing up alcohol-related crime and social problems. In addition, alcohol-related problems are responsible for 22,000 premature deaths each year. What about in Indonesia?I have tried to find relevant articles regarding this issue but couldn't find any. From the surface binge drinking is not a problem in Indonesia. Maybe because, first, most of Indonesians are Moslem and alcohol is not allowed (haram), and its distribution, even its content in food, is tightly (*cough) monitored by the government. Secondly although there are local, cheap brands

Paris to help Binge drinking elephants in India? WTF?
    2007-11-13 19:44:05
PARIS Hilton has taken time out from saving the world to deny reports that she was helping raise the plight of binge-drinking elephants in India. The 26-year-old American socialite, whose plan to do charity work in Rwanda has been postponed until next year, was reportedly concerned about elephants getting drunk on farmers' homemade rice beer before going on rampages."The elephants get drunk all the time," the World Entertainment News Network quoted Hilton, who was jailed this year in an alcohol-related driving case, as saying."It is becoming really dangerous. We need to stop making alcohol available to them."Lori Berk, a publicist for Hilton, said she never made any comments about helping drunken elephants.Last month, six wild elephants that broke into a farm in the state of Meghalaya were electrocuted after drinking the potent brew and then uprooting a power pole."There would have been more casualties if the villagers hadn't chased them away. And four elephants died in a similar way

Man dies after three day gaming binge
    2007-09-18 22:05:00
CNN is reporting that it's happened again in China- a man has died after a three-day gaming binge in a cyber cafe.So many things wrong with this story. First of all, how does someone sit in an internet cafe for three days without anyone else noticing? I'm sure that it must have been a huge, 24 hour, windowless warehouse type of place, with people coming and going all the time, but still, what business would allow people to basically live in their building? And then, of course, there's the gaming angle. Videogames and the Internet didn't kill this man, people, despite what CNN says:The paper said that he may have died from exhaustion brought on by too many hours on the Internet.Actually, I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure he died from exhaustion brought on by staying awake for too long. If he'd been playing ping pong for three days straight, he probably wouldn't have come out of it very well either. The article says they don't know what game he was playing, so this may not e

Sleeping Pills, Binge Eating and Driving while asleep
    2007-03-28 08:56:00
A new sleeping pill that some specialists say could pave the way for longer-term use. The drug, developed by Sepracor, a pharmaceutical company in Marlborough, Mass., will be called Lunesta. It had been called Estorra during its development, but the F.D.A. deemed that name too similar to that of another drug. The F.D.A. now recommends that sleeping pills be used for no longer than 7 to 10 days. That is because there are concerns that the pills can lose effectiveness over time or become addictive. The most widely prescribed sleeping pills can cause strange behavior like driving and eating while asleep. The F.D.A.'s review was prompted, in part, by queries to it from The New York Times last year, after some users of the most widely prescribed drug, Ambien, started complaining online and to their doctors about unusual reactions ranging from fairly benign sleepwalking episodes to hallucinations, violent outbursts, nocturnal binge eating and — most troubling of all — driving while aslee
