| June Birthdays | | 2008-07-02 16:16:29 | | The month of June has just gone passed us and it’s funny how this year has just flown by. Just yesterday we were celebrating the New Year and setting out our New Year’s resolutions and we already at ‘half-time’ for the year. Personally, I have not achieved any of my resolutions yet but I still [...]... | | By: Rons Crib | | |
| | Two Birthdays and some ramblings | | 2008-06-21 21:25:00 | | I have been somewhat preoccupied and forgot to come here and blog about two wonderful kids who have both celebrated getting another year older. Megan turned 11 on June 17th. I can hardly believe she is 11 and starting sixth grade in just a few short months. Mr. Bill turned 6 on June 21st (today!). He is my baby and it seems impossible that he is really 6 years old now. Time really does fly as you get older. -----------------------------In other news we bought the pool today. As we stood outside and measured though we realized a 25 foot pool would take up a lot of the usable space in our yard and would not fit in the space we had wanted to put it. So we opted for the 18 foot one instead. Now my husband is outside knee deep in the dirt, leveling the ground to prepare it for a pool. The kids are beyond excited. I also made my first batch of strawberry rhubarb jam today. I followed a recipe I had seen on Owlhaven's blog and it was super simple. I used our garden strawberries in the first 6... | | By: Organized Chaos | | |

| | Birthdays, Being Wrong and Being Right | | 2008-03-06 06:36:29 | | (Picture has nothing to do with post -- girls in August of 2002)Last night I had a dream that Mike got out of jail and moved home. It was a bad dream because Bart and I were in disagreement over how to handle the situation and Bart was very angry with me. It left me with an unsettled feeling. And then this morning had an email from some networking site that Mike had me join a while back that tomorrow is his birthday. Yes, I knew that. He will be turning 19 from jail. Bart wrote him a letter, which is not in violation of the harassment restraining order, but otherwise there will be no contact. It's sad really -- that in order to keep our other kids and our possessions safe that we can't have contact with him.Last night Bart found himself in the nasty predicament of needing to confront me about some of the ways I parent. Confronting me is no treat. I'm not exactly a gracious receiver of criticism. Especially when it is coming one of THOSE people. You've met them, right? One o... | | By: Never a Dull Moment | | |

| | Gift ideas for Men’s December birthdays | | 2007-12-08 07:28:31 | | Men are often a little reticent about what they would like to receive for special occasions. While it can be frustrating, it also opens you up to a world of possibility and surprise for one of the special men in your life!Jewelry is a great option, as in our modern world more and more men are coming to appreciate its value and claim it for their sex, not purely as a ‘girly’ thing. And a great way to help you decide what jewelry piece to get for someone born in December is by their starsign. Almost too easy!Men born in December (and, incidentally, women born in December!) will be either Sagittarians or Capricorns. Sagittarians are typified by characteristics like extroversion, loving freedom, philosophical-ness, and sincerity. Sagittarians like things they can show off, wear out, and constantly use. For the younger Sagittarian, we have a range of key rings that are both modern and classy. Bracelets and bling should go down well with the party-animal Sagittarian, too. You can find some really unusual pieces, including ones made from leather, cord or rubber, for younger Sagittarians. There are also more traditional pieces, made just from silver or stainless steel, with subtle and classy detailing, for the older or more refined Sagittarian. Capricorns, born at the end of December and the early part of January (Dec 22nd to Jan 20th), are generally responsible people, who like to maintain a bit of formality and are methodical and career oriented. For this reason executive style presents shouldn’t go too far astray with these guys … check out sections like our cuff links section for office-bound Capricorns. While most men’s jewelry is not particularly highly adorned or detailed, Capricorns will probably like things even plainer – that is their bent for formality. However, jewelry can also have a purpose – and we have a great range of watches (to which we recently added several fashion ranges, from top world designers). The Fossil men’s watch pictured is not ... | | By: Gifts For All | | |

Rumor has it that I turned 16 today. Fifteen one day, 16 the next– it doesn’t make any sense at all, does it. I’m only a day older.
But that’s logical, and logic has no place on a birthday, especially one so neat and square* as to be called sweet. So fine then. I’m a year older.
They say I should be throwing a big birthday bash, something to be remembered for good or for evil. I should invite all my friends over and get lots of presents and hugs and other such things, including possibly a learner’s permit. I should spend the entire day feeling happy to be alive, and even happier to be 16, and I should take a million photos to post here for all to see, and I should spend hours writing excitedly in my journal about the things that happened, and I should go to bed late wishing that the day would never end.
And I should walk around feeling changed, as though a mature and adult-like mass of neurons had been grafted onto my brain, r... | | By: Circadian Rhythms | | |
