    Blizzard launches new online store
    2008-05-03 22:57:01
The new and improved Blizzard store opened recently, and it's definitely worth a look. It has a very clean layout, making finding what you want pretty simple. They carry everything from the Blizzard games to the Warcraft action figures to WoW game time. Their apparel selection isn't very large due to that primarily being handled by Jinx, but the store is still worthwhile.Plus, registering for the Blizzard store comes with another perk. You can register for the Beta Test lottery, which is a chance at being chosen for upcoming beta phases of various games. Wrath? Starcraft II perhaps? All of the above? Who knows! I've been considering getting into the WoW TCG, so if I get a shot at a beta test out of it, too... hey, why not?Edit: The Blizzard EU store is not yet live, but I imagine it will be soon. Sorry, Europe!

    Blizzard Acquires Diablo3.com
    2008-05-01 19:28:17
In a move sure to generate reams of speculation from Diablo fans the world over, the former owner of Diablo3.com just revealed that the domain has been handed over to Blizzard on request. It seems that Blizzard contacted the site's management a few months back asking for use of the domain, and, being a loyal fan of Blizzard's series, the webmaster handed it over to Blizzard completely gratis. While it's not uncommon for corporations of all kinds to snap up domains even tangentially related to their products, it's almost too easy to see this move as a strategic step laying the groundwork for the eventual release of a third Diablo game.Let's not forget that it's been almost eight years since the last full Diablo title -- that's a long wait for a sequel, even by Blizzard's notoriously meticulous standards. Financially, another Diablo game seems almost predestined. Both Diablo, Diablo II and their sequels are among the best-selling PC games of all time and short of Counte

Blizzard asks: Have Arena wait times improved?
    2008-04-22 20:12:21
Back in February, Bornakk promised Arena queue improvements in Patch 2.4. Now that 2.4 has been here for a few weeks, Drysc is asking for feedback on the wait times. According to Drysc, Blizzard has been making changes continually since releasing 2.4 in order reduce the wait times. He asks that you leave feedback in his post on the forums if you have played in the Arena within the last week.Reading through, the feedback is all positive. Well, mostly. Poe jokes that the queue times are too quick now and would like a couple minutes to do a round of mining in Nagrand. Otherwise, everyone agrees that the queue times are now just a few seconds as opposed to several minutes. The only real negative comments are about how they would like Blizzard to crack down on Win Trading.I am happy that Blizzard is soliciting feedback to find out what is really happening in the game. Do you think the Arena wait times have decreased?

WoW Bot Author Earned $2.8M Claims Blizzard
    2008-03-30 19:11:56
GamePolitics reports that Blizzard is claiming that World of Warcraft bot author Michael Donnelly has made a cool $2.8 million by selling his Glider software. This comes from recent motions filed in court. Glider is a downloadable software that automatically plays the game for the user, letting players go up to level 70 without much personal effort. Donnelly, its author, was sued by Blizzard in February 2007 and both sides have been locked in a legal battle since then. “Blizzard’s designs expectations are frustrated, and resources are allocated unevenly, when bots are introduced into the WoW universe, because bots spend far more time in-game than an ordinary player would and consume resources the entire time,” said the company in a legal statement. Interestingly, Donnelly claims that his program does not violate Blizzard’s copyright because it never makes a true copy of the game client. The software currently sells for $25, with an optional $5 subscription offering additional

Blizzard's WWI 2008 tickets are all gone
    2008-03-28 21:25:17
Were you planning on promising a loved one a "second honeymoon in France" only to abandon her at the airport and beat cheeks to Blizzard's 2008 Worldwide Invitational? Unless you've already reserved your spot you can expect to spend a lot of time sightseeing with your lady: Tickets are all gone, selling out in less than a week.Even if you can get a refund on your plane fare, we'd suggest you still go ahead and take your significant other to the City of Lights. After all those nights coming home from work and finding you asleep in front of the computer, lit only by the dull tan of the Barrens, encased, mummy-like, in a sarcophagus of sweat and Dorito crumbs ... hasn't she earned it?

    Dairy Queen's Cotton Candy Blizzard
    2008-01-25 22:09:00
Oh cruel fate, why must you mock me with seasonal menu items? Dairy Queen's Cotton Candy Blizzard is one of the sweetest treats I have ever had, and apparently I won't have it again for eight months.Vanilla ice cream with cotton candy syrup and little bits of pink, purple, and blue cotton candy - I can't believe it took humanity so many millenniums to come up with it! And I also can't believe that Dairy Queen feels it's in their best interests to not sell this remarkable confectionery creation year round. I went into the Dairy Queen in the Viewmont Mall today looking to purchase one of these sugary masterpieces only to be informed that they were no longer carrying it. I was left with no other option than to try the Butterfingers variety and begin biding my time until the Cotton Candy Blizzard returns.

    Bills Blanked by Browns, Blizzard
    2007-12-16 17:26:42
Bills have no answer for Lewis, snow (AP photo/Tony Dejak) Inclement weather and a superior opponent proved to be too much for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and as a result, their playoff hopes are at a virtual end. Despite being in the game until just three seconds remained on the clock, the Cleveland Browns were dominant in an 8-0 victory that puts them in the driver's seat to clinch the AFC's final playoff spot. Buffalo's inexperience showed through in this contest, as they were unable to make the types of plays that the Browns made to really keep the game close. The young offense could not get anything going through the air until their final drive, the defense had difficulty with the Browns' big-play offense in the first half, and even Brian Moorman struggled through the blizzard. The score doesn't really indicate it, but this Bills team struggled in all three phases of the game on Sunday. Jamal Lewis Runs Wild Running behind an offensive line that

Blizzard, why won’t you take my money?
    2007-07-25 14:40:49
I’ve never been much of a gamer (apart from being addicted for some time to Tetris and later to the pinball game that was first included in Windows NT) and especially not one for RPGs, but a few days ago I learned that World of Warcraft is available for the Mac, it can be downloaded [...]
