Karnataka Home Minister Dr. VS Acharya comments on my blog post
    2008-06-08 23:07:00
Yesterday Morning I was in for a pleasant surprise-Was checking my mails in gmail and saw a comment from Dr. VS Acharya. (for my Coco Fresco Hyderabad post, wherein I had described a new approach adopted to promote tender coconut) The name sounded familiar-went to blogger profile and subsequently to his blog. As suspected, it turned out to be the blog of the very person who had taken oath as Cabinet Minister along with Karnataka CM Mr. B S Yadyurappa a week ago and was assigned the portfolio of home ministry less than 24 hours earlier. (He was minister for Medical Education earlier).Never expected politicians to be tech savvy and have a blog. (Do SM Krishna, known for his IT friendliness, has a blog? No idea.) But then, Dr. VSA holds a doctorate and is one of the few highly qualified personalities in the political corridor. His bio data in this post. I feel honored to have such high profile visitors to my blog who stop by and leave a comment too. Here's wishing Dr. Acharya all the be

Get A Second Look For Your Blog Post In Google Alerts
    2008-06-03 05:51:00
Google Alerts have become absolutely indispensable for me along with the daily news feeds I subscribe to. The settings I have set into my GA requests ask for a comprehensive (mews, blogs, forum comments, videos, etc.), as-it-happens update to be mailed directly to my inbox. For a subject like online marketing and SEO, the Google Alerts I receive are very frequent and if you have subscribed similarly, you can guess how tedious they are all to go through. However, I must admit, I never

Earth Day Blog Post: Tax Policy and the Environment
    2008-04-21 23:00:00
Environmental issues have become even more front and center in recent years, and tax policy is in the middle of it all. Any introductory economics student will learn about a concept called externalities, whereby a market transaction between two parties (buyer and sellers) has some spillover effect on a third party that the buyer and seller are not concerned with. Externalities can be either positive or negative. The classic example of a negative externality is pollution. The buyer of steel has no incentive to reduce the pollution of the steel mill that goes into the air, while the steel mill owner has no incentive either. There are two solutions: allocate property rights for the air to some party (which can be transferred via sale) or impose a tax for the right to pollute a given amount of pollutant. The optimal amount of pollution from a societal well-being perspective in almost all cases is greater than zero, but it is almost always less than the market amount that takes place without

    2008-04-18 11:55:59
The honor of tax day I will blog a post about that. Taxes are going to the government (for some or most) so they can sit on their asses for another year. Walking around in expensive suites and millionaire homes that we are paying for. I think taxes are a bunch of bull crap the tax system in the United States. It is so screwed up the tax money is going for so many wasteful programs in Washington. That are not useful or helpful to the American people. Although some tax money does do some good but

!! ओम पर्माताने नमः !!Hi! This is going to be a weblog where I would post my thoughts on days, I must. It would be, as the title indicates, about life and would cover an allround 360 degree view. It would be at times serious while not so at others. Oftentimes humorous and sometimes on a plane higher than we are usually accustomed to. As I work aboard Merchant Vessels, I would be able to write

7 Tips For Making A Blog Post
    2008-01-04 22:12:00
I wanted to spell out how to create and market a blog post. There are, of course, several different ways to market your latest blog post. Below I have outlined a step-by-step strategy for marketing your latest blog post.1. Your ping list has to be in order. Check out the recommended ping list if you don't have a ping list you are happy using. The first part of marketing your post starts with your ping list. Plain and simple.2. You must tag your post. Ultimate Tag Warrior is a required plugin for Wordpress blogs. It will allow you to categorize content based on a tagging engine. Without a doubt, Ultimate Tag Warrior is one of the most powerful Wordpress plugins. Each time you make a post add your keywords as tags at the bottom of your post.3. Tag Technorati throughout your post. For example, this post is about Web 2.0 and blog posts. Using this approach will keep your posts at or near the top of the list at Technorati. There's a really killer plugin called Tagalize-It that makes tagging throughout your posts really simple.4. Your post is pinged and tagged properly. Now what? Time to syndicate your post and generate some immediate traffic. Some clarification is necessary here. Web 2.0 sites normally have 2 types of functions. Either they act as bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us or they act as story submission sites like Digg where users vote on the quality of story.5. Understanding syndication and bookmarking. At Del.icio.us, the more users that have a site bookmarked; the more popular it is. At Digg, users submit stories and people vote on whether or not they like them. The more votes a site receives the more prominent it is on the site. Either way, users are rating the content.6. Automate your bookmarking for free. After you post, use a service called OnlyWire to bookmark your post at 15 different services. It's absolutely free. This will generate 15 backlinks to your site instantly. If you use OnlyWire naturally, meaning that you bookmark sites you actually lik

    2007-12-07 13:04:00
I'm going to let you in on a secret. I've come up with a sneaky method to get massive traffic to a blog post, with huge click-through to your affiliate link. Using this method, it doesn't matter what product you are promoting, because they don't have to buy that specific product for you to make a commission. There's no fluff in this report. I'll outline my method step by step, so that you can make hundreds or even thousands of dollars with just one blog post. There's nothing illegal about what we're doing (though some might say it's a bit devious). So without further ado, lets reveal the secret. Here 'a basic outline of what you should be doing. You can use As a checklist once you understand what we are going to be doing.• Setup a blog Wordpress• Apply for AuctionAds and find an interesting item to write about• Create an account on the Digg and StumbleUpon• Write a small article• Use Dealworx to get to the first page of Digg (this is the trick)• Watch the cash roll in That's all. Software you need to download (all free): • Firefox• StumbleUpon• Wordpress• wp-cache• SociableSetting your blog Even if you already have an active blog, I recommend reading this section, as I will discuss specific Configuration Options for best results. If you never set up a blog, or Wordpress, this will give you a Good idea what is involved.First of all, if you do not already have a site, you will need to buy a domain and hosting. I do not recommend using a free host, because the volume of traffic, we drive to your site receives Your account suspended. I run all my blogs in an account of Hostgator , and pay $ 9.99 per month. You can sign up for a month of hosting free, without compromise with the coupon code ICEISHOT. You need an area as well. A Very Short Blog Post
    2007-11-10 23:10:24
Jr. fans do NOT want to see this, but Junior hasn't won a race this season and has been winless since May 2006. Oy! I am hoping for Junior to somehow pull off a miracle and win the race on Sunday. If he doesn't, Truex is definitely my second choice.“We’ve done it twice before at Phoenix when we needed a win - and we need one now,” Earnhardt said. “Our car-of-tomorrow program has been superb, so we expect to be fast like we have been everywhere else.-Ummm, hello? What about all the engine issues? That doesn't sound like a superb program to me.“It’s really getting down to the end of a great era,” said Earnhardt. “I can’t explain how much fun I’ve had working with these guys on my team. That’s one of the bad things about moving on.”Dude, you really, REALLY need to move on and don't look back!Good luck to Junior and Truex! Enjoy the race everyone!

    1,000th Blog Post!
    2007-10-19 07:00:00
The blog post just before this one was our 1,000th blog post since we launched the Tax Policy Blog about two and a half years ago. Thanks to all who read it and help make it a success! One classic blog post of ours from two years ago today discusses the simultaneous birth and death of the ignored recommendations of the President's Tax Reform Panel: The panel intends to call for the capping of tax deductions on interest for home mortgages and employer-sponsored healthcare, eliminating the deduction for state and local taxes, and overhauling tax reductions for popular retirement savings schemes. In exchange, it will recommend abolishing taxation of dividends, cutting personal and corporate income tax rates, and ending the worldwide taxation of US corporate earnings. The most controversial of its recommendations is likely to be reducing the mortgage interest tax deduction, which allows taxpayers to write off their annual interest payments on home loans of up to $1m.Even before the panel's final report has been published, the powerful home-building industry has been lobbying to kill the proposal.

Reply to "Romania in one post" blog post
    2007-09-11 19:05:35
I didn't have any time today for blogging, but I've read the Romania in one post - The thoughts of an IT professional and it really troubled me and made me unhappy. I couldn't find who is the guy writing this blog, no about page - it's like he is hiding from Google but reading in between posts I found out he left Romania 15 years ago. I've read somewhere that Romanians are the nation that hurts itself most from all the other nations in the world by the bad publicity made by it's own people. It seems this is the case here as well. NOTE: if you are reading further this post, I don't have anything personal against the named blog and owner. Ok, so the reason it got me so discontent and ready to put work aside to answer his story is that while what he is saying might be true, I couldn't find a single good word about Romania. And I need to make things right by commenting on some of his ideas and bring some more new ones. So from the long list of complains about Romania I will start with

Colorado Draft Pick Recap, Saturday Blog Post Orgy Continues
    2007-06-23 21:50:00
With all seven rounds of the draft now over, nine new players have joined the Colorado Avalanche system. Most of them will play more time in their local beer leagues than in the National Hockey League. Statistically speaking, only a small number of the 200 or more young players chosen in the NHL Entry Draft every year actually make it to the NHL, and even fewer become stars. The majority play most of their careers in the minor leagues and then unceremoniously retire while still fairly young. Such is life in all professional sports, not just hockey. Since fame and notoriety will likely escape most of them, it's my duty to give these young players at minimum the glory of a Dear Lord Stanley blog post, so I'll run down the list of new Avalanche prospects one at a time. Hopefully their mothers, at least, will be proud.I already profiled first round pick Kevin Shattenkirk here. The rest are as follows:Second RoundColby Cohen, D - 45th Overall: Another offensive defenseman in the s

We Now Return to our Regularly Scheduled Blog Post
    2007-05-31 05:14:14
From the NY TimesTruth, Fiction and Lou DobbsThe whole controversy involving Lou Dobbs and leprosy started with a “60 Minutes” segment a few weeks ago. The segment was a profile of Mr. Dobbs, and while doing background research for it, a “60 Minutes” producer came across a 2005 news report from Mr. Dobbs’s CNN program on contagious diseases. In the report, one of Mr. Dobbs’s correspondents said there had been 7,000 cases of leprosy in this country over the previous three years, far more than in the past. When Lesley Stahl of “60 Minutes” sat down to interview Mr. Dobbs on camera, she mentioned the report and told him that there didn’t seem to be much evidence for it. “Well, I can tell you this,” he replied. “If we reported it, it’s a fact.”(snip) According to a woman CNN identified as a medical lawyer named Dr. Madeleine Cosman, leprosy was on the march. As Ms. Romans, the CNN correspondent, relayed: “There were about 900 cases of leprosy for 40 years. T

Monetizing The Gap: Four Ways to Make Money from Your Single Blog Post Pages
    2007-05-28 23:12:26
Copyright © Dosh Dosh (www.doshdosh.com) At the end of most blog posts you’ll often come across empty space. A gap between the last word and the opening comment. This area is often unexploited and unjustly so, because it’ll definitely help make more money from your blog. If you want more monetary benefits from your content, you should probably spend some time optimizing what I call the Gap or the space between your blog post and the comments section. In this article, I will outline four methods you can use to effectively monetize this untapped space, while correspondingly increasing both your profit potential and your reader base. Introducing ‘The Gap’: Anatomy of the Single Post Page The Gap is the empty space immediately after the end your blog post, until the start of the comments section. While some have enthusiastically filled the space with advertisements of all sorts, it is often an untouched resource for most blogs. Here is the main reason why you

Blog Post Frequency - When Too Much Is Too Little
    2007-04-21 23:20:51
Recently I have been slightly overwhelmed with trying to come up with something worthy to post about everyday. And then I thought to myself, why do I even try to post every day? There is a blogging rule that states that frequent posting is one of the keys to a successful blog. While I agree that frequent posting is an important factor to gaining readers and keeping them, I also know that trying to post something new every day can actually be a deterrent to success. One obvious point that comes to mind is post quality. Quality versus quantity is another blogging rule that many know about, but I think that actually finding out the correct balance between the two can be somewhat difficult, and is of course different based on each individual blogger. For me, I am beginning to believe that I should stop frantically looking for something to post about, and simply take something on my mind, do the research, and post the information when I am able to. I found an article written last year by Er
