The Blog Posts That Never Are
    2008-07-06 07:57:16
It is amazing the number of times I have sat down to blog something -- usually something that begins with comments about how peaceful and calm it is around here but before I can even start typing that all changes. This morning it was Jimmy's new pants. He prefers his pants to be 4 inches too big around the waste so that he can sag them. I hate it because it is not who he is. So yesterday I found a great deal on new dress pants. The ones he has been wearing every week are corduroys and look ridiculous during the hot summer. Well today he made a scene about the whole thing that was over the top and I did not respond well. He exaggerated their tightness, making comments that did not make sense. "I can't sit down in these pants" (said while seated). "I can't walk in these pants" (said while walking). "I can't walk up the stairs" (said while walking up the stairs). For some reason it just made it so much more annoying to me.But I gave him a choice. (after all I'm not completely

How to Place Your Signature in Blog Posts (Blogger)
    2008-06-30 18:40:10
I have been sporting my own signature in my posts almost since I started this blog. Its one of the ways I make my blog unique and interesting. I was inspired by other bloggers who used the same method to sign their posts. Although they never expressed how they made it possible, I figured it out on my own. now I'd like to share that method. :DFirst you need a camera or scanner, a blue or black ball point pen, some blank paper, photo editing software like Picasa (which is free) or Photoshop, and a photo hosting account online like Flickr or Photobucket.1) Write your signature on a blank piece of paper the way you want it to appear in your posts.2) Take a clear photo of your signature or place it in your scanner.3) Transfer your photo to your computer or scan your signature page.4) If your scanning software can also edit your image, go ahead and use it. Otherwise use another photo editing program. Have your image imported into the program and crop it all around the closest you can to the

How To Add Page Element To Blogger Header And/Or Blog Posts
    2008-05-14 16:17:36
As you can see in your blog's Template, you can add page elements to your blog's sidebar and footer, but there is no option to add a page element to blogger header or to blog posts. Additional page elements can be really useful. For example, if you want to put some picture on the top of the header, or put Adsense ads there, adding elements is what you need to do.To enable “Add a Page Element” option, you need to go to “Template”, and then click “Edit HTML”. Look in your blog's HTML and find these lines:-<div ><b:section maxwidgets='1' showaddelement='no'>You will need to make the following changes to the above code:1. Change "maxwidgets" to "3"2. Change "showaddelement" to "yes"<div ><b:section maxwidgets='3' showaddelement='yes'>This will allow you to add two more page elements to your header. If you want you can put another number, instead of 3.The next step. Right below the "header-wrapper" coding, there are the following lines:-<div >&

Emoticons for your Blogger blog's posts
    2008-04-19 12:04:24
Since I've started blogging on Blogger ( back in August 2007 ), I've always had one regret: and that was the fact that you can't use emoticons in your posts. Some of you might say "So, what's the big deal? This blogging platform has its own limitations. If you want to use smileys and emoticons, why not to switch to WordPress?" Yeah, I agree: there are some limitations when it comes about Google's blogging platform and a switch to WP ( WordPress ) would solve the emoticons problem, but why not to try and find a solution to it ( other than the one already mentioned above ) ?So, this made me wonder: how can one Blogger blogger can finally include emoticons in his articles? I mean, there are lots of people who use this graphical signs and I tend to believe that they kinda spice up the posts a little bit, don't you think? With this said, I've decided to do a little search of my own and see where can I find a script or HTML code which you can include it in your blog's template and make emoti

Adding Digg button to blog posts
    2008-04-14 09:27:00
Finally, added the Digg button to the blog. But I still didn’t manage to change the template.Tips-for-new-bloggers, has tutorial on how to add the dig button to the template. It asks to find the following line of code in the template:<p><data:post.body/></p>And then asks to add the following code on top of that line or below it depending on whether you need your dig at the top or bottom of your post.<div><script type='text/javascript'>digg_url="<data:post.url/>";</script><script src='http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js' type='text/javascript'/></script></div>When I do this, blogger takes me to a error page.I searched the web for some other way, but almost all of them have got the same way of adding the Digg button. Failing in my attempts to add Digg button through a template fix, I decided to add it in each and every post.First, publish your post. Then add the following code to the beginning of your post, by editing it:<scr

I like reading honest blog posts
    2008-04-02 09:41:16
I have been blog hopping and noticed some bloggers speaking out. What I mean is telling it like it is, and I actually like it. There should be no covering up anyway. I like it when someone is honest and tell it like it is. Anyway, I do that, too. In fact, I have been sharing lots of interesting topics on my other blog at: www.analoups.com. I recently talk about how we all evolved and how people believe in different things. Well, those things fascinates me a lot, so I am interested in learning and hoping someday we all come to the bottom of everything. It would be nice to find out the truth other than going by faith or by a guess, though people would say "You don't have to see to believe". To me it is like buying a house in a sight unseen...LOL. I do hope we are right.

Turn your blog posts into articles
    2008-03-20 02:24:00
Your blog posts, if they have some meat to them, are basically articles.  If you make a blog post and you don't turn it into an article, you are leaving money on the table.  Making a few small modifications to some of your better posts will turn them into articles.  Since submitting articles to article directories is one of the big ways to promote your site, any re-use you can do will help you reach your goal much faster. I have taken two of my blog posts and converted them to article.  - http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Important-is-SEO-To-Your-Company?&id=974080 - http://ezinearticles.com/?What-Does-the-Term-SERPS-Mean?&id=948682 Here are some of the things to modify: 1. Make a copy of the HTML version of the post and remove all links. 2. Add a {resource box} to the bottom of the post that includes some information about you and a linke to your web site.  Generating in-bound links is one of the main reasons for submitting articles to article dir

Want me to digg, stumble or sphinn your blog posts?
    2008-02-18 17:00:17
Let me ask you once again: Do you want me to digg, stumble or sphinn your blog posts? What's wrong..oh, you're probably thinking that I'm fooling around..Well, hear this: no, I'm not fooling around and I'm not kidding ( not this time ). I'm really serious about this. In fact, I have decided to do a little experiment and see how many of you bloggers will be interested in having your articles digged, stumbled or sphinned by me. If you're asking "What's the catch?", here's the answer: I want to increase my blog's traffic and RSS feed subscribers ( hopefully ) and I thought "How the heck should I do it?" I know, this is quite a no-brainer, as most of you'd say "Why don't you organize a contest? This would be nice and you would increase your traffic, the number of RSS feed subscribers and whatever else you want.." Contests are a nice way of driving traffic to a blog, indeed, but I'm aiming to provide this "service" ( if I can call it like that ) for a long period of time from now, unlike a

    Scrollbars Inside Blog Posts
    2007-11-14 17:30:00
If you intend to include very long text contents in your blog posts but you want to save space, you may use the scrolling text or scroll bar definitions in your style sheets. For instance, I have posted here the template of this blogsite. However, since the template has very long text contents, I opted to use the scrolling text style. I have used the codes below for the CSS scroll bar definitions within my blog posts. You may directly copy-paste the codes in the style sheet of your blog template or you may modify them first, depending on your preferences. The size (width and height), background color, and border definitions can all be modified..scrollingtext {height:200px;width:465px;background:#FFFFFF;border:2px solid #b47b10;overflow:auto;}Scrollbars are ideal for long text contents such as the template codes of this blog site. To include selected texts inside the scrollbars, you must enclose the texts within these codes: <div>TEXT</div>. By the way, these codes should on

How many blog posts should you make?
    2007-10-02 14:52:44
This is may today's question. I usually make about a post per day, every day, which makes it 7 posts per week. There are also exceptions, when I post more than one topic, if the information I found are really interesting and useful and deserve to be mentioned on my blog. If there are no interesting topics in the day I decide to post, then I search for one topic which is the most informative and has good content, and I'll post it on the blog. Sometimes, I even create off topic posts, or miscellaneous posts, where I talk about other things, such as personal trips, reviews of other fellows bloggers etc. It's not bad to have some off topic posts from time to time. I believe that people who visit my blog should also relax a bit, reading about other funny or interesting topics, others than making money online, pay per click advertising, self-improvement tips, free traffic tips, free blogging tips etc., which are usually posted on a daily basis. There are bloggers which spend more time blogging per day than me. Don't get me wrong..I like blogging too, but I can't simply stay all day long blogging, blogging and blogging again. I have my own REAL life, away from my computer, which I have to enjoy it. I have a family, I have friends, relatives, classes at the University, which must receive a lot of attention too. And of course, this blog also needs to be promoted, so I also spend some time daily searching for free blog promotion websites and tips, to increase the number of visitors and subscribers of it. You do have to promote or to market your blog, not just to keep posting and posting daily, without doing some promotion work. If you don't promote your blog, you get no readers and no subscribers. When I have more time in a day and find more interesting information, I post up to 2 or 3 topics. Searching the right subjects for those topics is not such a simply and easy tasks, and this is another reason for me for posting usually one topic per day. I have to search on Google, on news sites, through my PLR articles, and to see what's the most interesting and quality topic which I should consider posting it on my blog. So, this takes me about 2 hours or even more almost daily. It's not that I'm moving slow, it's because I have to find the RIGHT and good information, which will help me create that day's topic. What about you? Are you blogging? How many blog posts ( or topics ) do you make? You can leave a comment below this post and tell me how many topics you create daily :)

Both articles and blog posts have merit
    2007-07-10 13:35:12
If you know me, either professionally or personally, you know that I love to write. I guess I could come up with some idealistic reason for this but instead I’ll just leave it at that. You will also know that I have various styles of writing. Some are on-the-fly pieces of short commentary and others are well-thought-of editorials or viewpoints, which I either post on this blog or publish in print. Then there are those nail biting, deadline-driven essays or to-the-point, tactical strategies that have less fluff and more gist . . . the point is, I like to think that I can write for various situations & audiences…and all my “styles” of writing work for me. Why? Because all my readers are different. So, when Jakob Nielsen, a well regarded Web consultant and analysis who was labeled “usability guru” and, quite frankly, isn’t the most creative genius on planet earth, says that “To demonstrate world-class expertise, avoid quickly written, shallow postings.
