| | Pimp your Blog II: Entrecard, Blogcatalog, and mybloglog | | 2008-04-01 18:15:00 | | Sorry kids, there's no picture in today's post. I've just been playing with three blog pimping services Entrecard, Blogcatalog, and MyBloglog. Entrecard is a widgetified version of the old Link Exchange that they used to have in the 90's. You provide a graphic and they use it to build you this widget which you paste into your site. Then people visit your site and they "drop their card" on your widget. You get credits for this. You can "drop your card" on other people's widgets too. And you can "sell" the space on your widget to somebody else and get credits that way. Blogcatalog is a social network that's focused on blogging. They have forums, friends, shoutboxes, etc. Oh yes and LOTS AND LOTS of widgets. MyBloglog and blogcatalog are very similar. They also allow you to list your id's on other well known social networks such as Digg. Entrecard and blogcatalog generate a lot of action--people wanting to pimp their "friends" list or buy "advertising" on your blog. You c | | By: Tix-R-Us GeekEvents | | |

| | The BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz | | 2007-05-14 07:17:23 | | The photo in this entry is Teardrop. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. In an effort to put BlogCatalog on the map when it comes to social networking sites, I'm participating in the BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz today. A community effort to get the word out about the benefits of using BlogCatalog. What I enjoy about BlogCatalog is the ease of use with all the features it includes. Their widgets are awesome and the visual design of the site is modern but not over the top. Getting to know other members is effortless, and there are tons of great people to meet. Networking could not be easier for me.What attracted me to BlogCatalog first was their widgets. They are easily customized, update quickly, and appear smoother than others out there. Looking more into the site, I thought very well of the organization of the site. You have your user profile page and your blog listing page. Leaving messages is a breeze; you don't even have to be a member to do so. Members can also rate | | By: One Day At a Time | | |

| | iwebis - BlogCatalog Buzz Experiment | | 2007-05-09 02:06:00 | | I originally submitted my site to Blogcatalog when I first started blogging but did not revisit, as it seemed only a run of the mill submission and search site. With recent 'social networking' changes and a makeover it has become, for me, a contender with MyBlogLog - with regard to the amount of traffic from the site and the number of contacts that have added me. This is early days too, with membership levels on the rise; many people not yet knowing about the changes.iwebis has a explanation of the new features as well as running an experiment to increase awareness of BlogCatalog. It is asking members to post a "BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz" post 0n Monday May 14th . Post about what you like about BlogCatalog and link to your blog detail or profile page. | | My Sponsored Listing at BlogCatalog | | 2007-05-04 02:11:49 | | The photo in this entry is Fervor. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently made some changes to my listing at BlogCatalog so they would reflect the new status of my blog. I got an email confirming those changes and in it, I noticed an ad for sponsored listings. I checked it out and found it worthy to try out.I went ahead and bought a sponsored listing in the Personal category of blogs. I'm the second listing, for now. I signed up for having my listing up for one month which only cost $10. It should benefit my traffic more and get my blog out there. I don't believe in "If you build it, they will come". Blogging really takes a lot of effort to get yourself out there. This is just one of the many ways I'm getting myself noticed.I really think this is a great way to boost your traffic. If you are listed in a prominent place within your category, you will generate a wider audience. BlogCatalog offers sponsored listings in up to 5 spaces in each category.
