Scott Boras is Being a Greedy Bum

Well, we always knew that, but today he and Pedro Alvarez have taken things to new heights. Scary heights for Pirates fans.--It's very complicated, but basically here's what happened today: Boras--who is unhappy with the lower-than-expected $6M signing bonus (it happened because Boras and Pirates couldn't do a deal, so Pedro stepped in and accepted the offer at the deadline) is trying to contend that Pedro did not, in fact, reach the agreement before midnight of the 15th.--That is garbage. Not o...

    Proof of a Boras Conspiracy

The Manny Ramirez Era had to have an incredible end. And according to Gordon Edes in today's Boston Globe, it really had an amazing one.Apparently, when the news reached him he had been traded to Los Angeles, Ramirez had his agent, the notorious bastard Scott Boras, contact the Red Sox that if they dropped the two options they held on Ramirez that "he would not be a problem for the rest of the season."Theo Epstein said thanks, but no thanks. Hit the road, pal. You're gone. This just proves that all the shit Ramirez pulled over the past few weeks was all a calculated attempt to get the Sox to trade him so he could get a long term deal after the season from some other team. (Does he really think he's going to get a four-year, $100 million deal from ANYONE?)And you know as sure as shootin' that that weasel Boras was behind the whole thing. I'm convinced that once Manny hooked up with him last winter it would lead to trouble. And sure enough, he got his tentacles into Ramirez and trouble re...

Manny & Boras?? It Looks That Way!
    2008-02-23 05:00:00
This is from Friday evening's SI dot com site. I hope it doesn't portend any future problems...in fact, I'm not worried about that one little bit. The Red Sox hold ALL the cards when it comes to the future of "Boston Mannyball." I'll be back with a comment or two after you read this..."Ramirez is switching agents and has hired Scott Boras, a friend of Ramirez's told SI.com.Red Sox GM Theo Epstein acknowledged by email that he's been informed of the change by Ramirez within the past few days.Ramirez spoke aloud Thursday in Fort Myers about whether the Red Sox might exercise his $20-million option for 2009 or instead allow him to become a free agent, and he suggested in that interview that he'd prefer to stay in Boston but that he wouldn't be heartbroken to become a free agent, either. It isn't known how the insertion of Boras in the equation might affect Ramirez's chances to stay in Boston. While Boras is famous for procuring many of the biggest free-agent contracts ever, he has a solid ...
