Bordeaux wine exports surge in 2007
    2008-04-23 10:30:00
Export sales for Bordeaux wines in 2007 sets a new record of 1.4 billion Euros for a volume of 1.93 million hectolitres. Export sales represents 41% of total Bordeaux wine sales in 2007 and show a 9% rise compared to 2006 (+ 7% in volume) and 30% compared to 2005, therefore an additional 322 million Euros (+7% in volume). This increase is the result of: - the evolution of Bordeaux wine supply towards the 4.5 Euros to 15 Euros price bracket (a rise of 8% compared to 2006), to the detriment of lower-end-range wines.

On the positive side, there was an earthiness I smelled and tasted and liked. The finish was at least one minute, but needless to mention, not well balanced at all. There were several things I thought I had going for me with this purchase. It's not just a regular Bordeaux. When in Bordeaux, Drink Beer! Part II
    2007-07-12 05:57:00
By Eric WildersonGreetings Beervana,It is quite fashionable to suggest that France is the land of wine -from Bordeaux to Provence, to Alsace and Burgundy - there is no doubtthat wine is held in high regard by the French. But to suggest thatfinding a good beer is hard to do, to propose that there is a lack ofale houses, to assume that there is only wine in France would be, andis, quite utterly, wholly absurd! For one need only to step onelittle toe-pinky inside Paris, open the eyes and see that beer, beer iseverywhere! From blondes and whits, to browns and stouts, beeryboissons are pouring forth from cafes, bars and restaurants. Now, one might argue that the beer scene in Paris is quite differentfrom some of the smaller towns in the outer provinces. One mightargue that only in Paris can one find Lefe blonde on tap at normalcafes or 11oz-ers of Chimay Triple for under two Euros at any typicalsupermarket. Well, this might be true, after all, I have not visitedevery small town in Franc

    When in Bordeaux, Drink Beer!
    2007-06-20 16:59:00
Eric is on vacation and on his way to France with his wife. She is a French native and he has spent some time there in the past. His destination: Bordeaux, a port city in the southwestern part of the country, famous as Europe's main military, space, and aeronautics hub. It's also acclaimed for its wine production. Since the 8th century the city of Bordeaux has been one of the world's top producers of wine. However, intrepid explorer Eric has provided the first in a series of memoirs detailing his trip to the world's wine capitol, a city that hosts the world's largest wine event known as Vinexpo, in search of our beloved libation...beer. When in Bordeaux, Drink Beer!by Eric WildersonFirst stop, terminal 8 of JFK international airport. There you will find Broadway Brewing Co. It doesn't appear to exist outside of the airport. They serve the beer of Chelsea Brewing Company from New York City. I was a little hesitant to ask for a taster, fearful of being rebuked, "wot da hells a madd

Double Post: "Two Buck Chuck" Shiraz and Chateau Peyfol 2003 Red Bordeaux Wine
    2007-05-14 05:46:00
Reading last night's post, it seems like I went off a bit on an unrelated tangent. However, the point I was trying to make was how, just like food, environment can play into one's wine experience. In my case, I was melancholy from the music I'd been playing and feeling blessed looking and listening to my children while thinking about my past and their future all rolled into one. The wine enhanced that feeling and created an overall nostalgic experience. Whereas the night prior, I was in a different emotional state and was listening to classical music and even though I drank more of the wine then, it didn't seem to enhance my mood. It's the same thing as going to a great restaurant and thoroughly enjoying the food and the company you're with and ordering a wine that tastes great. I've done that and left deciding I've got to go buy a bottle of that great wine. I've bought it, brought it home, and it just doesn't taste the same. As a matter of fact, I've wondered what the heck
