    The Importance Of Branding Strategy
    2008-07-15 10:25:15
Around the start of this year, I became a huge believer and advocate of branding for the purpose of establishing your own space in the massive world of the blogosphere. Unfortunately, I have taken up this profession about three years behind almost everybody so the blogging space is a little bit tighter than I would want to be in. As a self-confessed pro blogger myself, I follow several other more established pro bloggers who have come before me and learn from them. However, in my writings I try and establish my own identity and work hard at creating my own brand image so that people can differentiate me from the rest especially the bigger ones. Nothing is sadder than just being another wall flower in this huge space.Analyzing much more establishing your own company's brand image is a daunting task. Not everyone is trained to be objective as they would want to be especially if you're trying to do it yourself. That's why companies like thebrandidentityguru.com have flourished in recent t

Don't Be Fooled by Branding and Advertising
    2008-06-16 13:27:00
This is really intriguing. It shows how easy it really is to get us to pay significantly more for something we think we're getting a better value for. This definitely reminds me of the 4 4 4 deal Domino's is putting out.It looks pretty good, until you notice that the pizzas really aren't that big (notice the size of the hands). This site also supports the idea, that you are, in fact, getting more bang for your buck when you order the 5 5 5 as opposed to the cheaper 4 4 4.

    An epidemic called branding
    2008-05-22 01:17:00
Marketer Santosh Desai on what makes Laloo Prasad Yadav a valuable brand...Right now there is a whole epidemic of what I would call pseudo brands, where everything suddenly becomes a brand. This has happened to an extent that it has even become fashionable to talk about every human being as a brand, every event as a brand, every television programme as a brand, every film as a brand. So there is in fact an epidemic of branding that is finally taking place. And while a lot of these things can be categorised as brands, what is important is to distinguish and understand what makes a brand. Something that is being advertised or being popularised or which is becoming a commercial product that was hitherto not seen as a commercial product, does not make it a brand. A celebrity does not become a brand simply because he or she gets some brand endorsements. Even though brands are commercially used, the notion of a brand has nothing to do with it. The idea of a brand is actually more about its c

Australia: The movie and the branding opportunity
    2008-05-18 21:41:00
Australia is a movie by Baz Luhrmann which is due for release in November 2008. The first official preview has been launched on bigpondvideo.com.It's hard to judge a movie by its preview, but I hope this movie is great. Not because I'm particularly a Luhrmann fan (though I really enjoyed Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge), or because "Our Nic" Nicole Kidman is due for a big movie. I want this movie to be huge because it has such potential as a branding exercise for Australia.I can't think of many movies that are named purely after a country with nothing else in the title. The DreamWorks Animated Madagascar is probably the highest profile movie named after a country. Brazil is another one that springs to mind, though it is not set in or about Brazil.

The resulting “brand play” makes Reactrix the highest engagement advertising available today and reaches top-market venues with monthly traffic exceeding 100 million. Nothing Works Like Brand Play Advertising’s ability to capture attention and spur real brand involvement has been almost non-existent. Each quarter, the measured performance of traditional media continues to erode. In response to the lack of audience brand involvement in traditional media, lies the creation of Reactrix - the first out-of-home advertising vehicle that allows for true brand interaction with its audience. Strengthen Your Core Branding...
    2008-04-26 12:10:46
Did you check your progress recently? If you didn't, I suggest you do it as soon as possible. You need to look at all your goals (short term; medium term and long term) and decide whether they are reasonable and see how your progress is.Let's say your goal is to maintain competitive in affiliate marketing but your activities are not strong enough and cause your income to drop. What are you going to do about that? One thing you can do is to communicate with your customers. Email them and ask them why they arent interested in your offer anymore. Is it because of your support? Is it because of your bonuses? Or is it because they got the product from your competitor? Please be gentle when you ask the questions and avoid to sound confronting and demanding. You just need answers. After you got the answers, focus your energy to create a new and unique product, strengthen your image and continue to market your product. You can offer the new product in higher price and of course with more benefits

Branding your Messages: New Template Tags
    2008-04-14 15:22:00
In yesterday's post I remarked that Gawker's sites were using our standard template capabilities to customize their emails and subscriber landing pages. I also mentioned that we'd added a few new tags to the template; as promised here's a description. What's a template again? The template controls the layout (styles, fonts, logos etc.) of your content. It controls how your articles are formatted. This is contrast to the newsletter settings links in the newsletter center, which control what goes into the article in the first place. So the newsletter settings control things like tracking, truncation, comments and forward to a friend settings. The template takes the results and makes it all pretty for you.The template editor is found in the graphic design area of your newsletter center. The template controls the layout by using custom tags inside HTML; the custom tags act as variables, substituting content such as your blog's title, content or time stamp into the HTML that becomes your news

Marketing Idea No. 160 - Fashion Branding and developing a signature
    2008-04-11 04:32:33
The fashion brands in Bangladesh are caught in a similar narrow space. They are either fighting the battle in ”ethnic wear” space or the ”new gen-yo” space. Which is why, without the label, can you tell which clothing belongs to which fashion house? I sincerely doubt it. A breath of fresh air in this regard is the ”Tanzim” line of clothing from Ecstacy. With bold branding (All clothing has the name ”Tanzim” written at the back in a big bold manner), this clearly stands out. Tommy Hilfiger did the same with his succesfull brand back in the early 90s. WHen the black culture is just emerging as the powerful trend of the 90s, Hilfiger made cloithing exclusively for the black people and staying true to the black & bold nature, all his clothing had ”Tommy Hilfiger” logo in a larger than life fashion. Thats one way of doing it.

    Branding "YOU" on the web.
    2008-02-16 15:33:00
A hot "buzz" word on the net lately is "Branding" and getting yourself branded. Essentially your brand is your identity on the web. When I say this I mean the name, logo, communication and encounters with every customer or potential customer that the business has. It is how people remember, was the service good? did you get put on hold when you called? was the follow up service good? things like that as well as visual attributes such as Coca-Cola's red and white swoosh,"McDonalds" golden arches or the BMW emblem. All of those things are what brand an identity in people's minds. On the net you want to brand "YOU" not the company you are representing or the MLM or promotion. Yes, you want the potential lead to know and recognize those things but what you really want is for them to associate "YOU" with that program, product or service so that when they have a need they think of "you" to satisfy it. There are a variety of ways to brand yourself on the web.I feel blogging is one of the most eff

    Branding and the American Voter
    2008-02-15 20:07:00
Brands were originally developed as labels of ownership; however, today it is what they do for people that really matters. So what happens if a brand's benefits cease to be beneficial. The cola wars of the 1980s and 1990s between soft drink manufacturers provide an illustration. Let's say that you have a soft drink that you really like. You believe in the philosophy of the brand and it tastes right to you. Now let's say over time the taste becomes flatter and flatter until it no longer tastes right to you. You still believe in the brand but the quality has degraded to the point where the product no longer truly meets your expectations. Now let's say the other brands have degraded in the same manner. You stay faithful to your brand hoping for a turnaround. But it never comes. In fact, the brands continue to digress until they reach a point where they are actually unhealthy. What should you do?Today, people in both the Democratic and Republican parties have experienced exactly this level

    Branding with a Shoestring Budget
    2008-01-17 15:03:00
Guest Article By Anne Casanova, PsPrint Many small businesses are very good at reaching out to new customers but are generally not as good at nurturing the relationship. Nurturing a relationship allows you to reinforce your brand and increase brand loyalty. This also helps you weather the storms of increasing competition. A customer who has developed a good relationship with you will remain loyal, even if the competition decides to lower its price. That’s brand loyalty. Many small businesses assume branding is expensive. But reinforcing your brand does not need to cost a lot. Here are some easy, inexpensive ways to build and develop brand loyalty: Start or contribute to a blog. Research what is the most highly trafficked and searched blog in your industry and start to write and post relevant articles that include information about your business. If you don’t already have a tagline, consider developing one that clearly and succinctly informs people about your business. And always attach your tagline to your email signature. Start an email newsletter for your customers and prospects. Include your own article and link to other pieces related to your industry. This is a great way to consistently keep your brand in front of customers. Make sure to include a section that encourages the recipient to “pass it on to friends and colleagues.” Offer your expertise to local or industry media publications that are read by your target customer. Consider submitting op-ed pieces to your local newspaper. Or write an article and pitch it to target publications. Follow up with your customers. Thank them for their business and ask for referrals.Consider conducting a survey, either via mail or online, to get feedback on your products or service. You can use positive testimonials on your website, in your newsletter and even print some on the back of your business cards. Make sure that all of your promotional materials match. At the very least, yo

Laws of Branding and Logo Design
    2008-01-17 12:54:00
I saw this information and immediately fell in love...Why are these among the best, most recognizable logos in the world? Put simply: They can be burned on to the butt of a cow. While "branding" has come to mean a large-scale marketing philosophy, let's not forget where the word "brand" comes from. One of the things that makes these logos so powerful is that they are simple without being simplistic; even tiny and without color, they are easy to identify. In the larger sense, branding is an attempt to garner an emotional response to one's products and/or services. This may include specific color schemes, design styles, advertising focus, research and development, even hiring practices. The success of a company is determined by how well they empathize and interact with their market, which is an extremely complex and long-term process. I just want to get that out of the way because this is not an article about branding in the larger sense. This is an article about the logo.It would be hard to argue that a company's success is determined by how well their logo is designed, that simply isn't the case. It is the case, however, that quite nearly every successful company has a well designed and often iconic logo.*Humble BeginningsLogo-centric branding is actually an extremely new phenomenon. Some of our most beloved logos were introduced years after the companies were founded. The Rolex Watch Co. was in business for more than a decade before they registered the now-famous crown. Almost 30 years after he started making shoes, Adi Dassler added 3 stripes to the design, but it took another 22years for adidas to give us the Trefoil. Levi's distinctive red tab made its first appearance 63 years after Levi Strauss and David Jacobs patented their unique design for making pants. These days, of course, the process works in reverse. A logo is typically the first concrete evidence that a company even exists. Most entrepreneurs have a plan for their business

Four High Impact Branding Must Haves:
    2007-11-06 05:49:00
    1. Brand Name:Brand names go on to feature wherever a business has established or wants to establish its presence; as such, they have to have a high recall quotient while managing to project an image of what the business is all about in the minds of the average consumer. Your business objectives, mottoes, ideals, policies, products, etc. have to be incorporated in some way or another in the brand name.Misleading the consumer for the purpose of having a catchy name is not really necessary. That is a sure-fire way to minus valuable credibility points from your business. One good example of a business that has used this branding technique successfully is our own client site: www.plasticsurgeryinstituteofcalifornia.com2. Favicons:These little 16 x 16 icons are displayed in a browser’s URL bar, next to the website name in bookmark lists and in the address bar. A favicon is designed keeping the main characteristic or defining feature of a website or business in mind. They add an extra zing to an interesting website. A good example is the ‘W’ favicon associated with Wikipedia.3. Blogs:Blogs educate. Blogs encourage interaction. Blogs call for immediate, anytime publishing and are a treasure house of information on the inner workings of a corporation, company policies and product and services. They keep the general public up-to-date on a business’ latest offerings. A good example is this blog which is the business blog for the online marketing and web development company: Clear Media Inc.4. Content:Yes. I shall be using an oft repeated line out here, “content is king”. However frequently this phrase is dragged all over the Internet, it is something to think about. Where all the flash and dazzle of web designing stop, information-rich content takes over. Without it, all the branding efforts of an SEO fail. Text plays a vital role in all the above elements of branding. When content quality is maximized, content quantity can be done away with.Visit Clear Media Onli

    2007-10-05 16:13:18
It is quite interesting to see how Indian IT companies are not only globalizing themselves but are also going about branding themselves after HCL and TCS it is now the turn of Infosys. If you visit western publications like wired , Ars technica and others you will see Infosys promoting its blog Think Flat.Interestingly this blog has been around for sometime but of late their is more activity on this blog with people like Nandan Nilekani himself writing in this blog. This looks like a very good means to sell itself to its targeted customers who would be reading the technical journals and then on seeing the ad would be taken to its blog which would contain again articles about technology. Here is a screenshot of the Infosys ad

    Explanation about branding management systems:
    2007-09-21 09:00:49
In business matters Branding is one of the powerful parameter. Brand name is defined by a name given to a product or service which accomplishes some standards. This article analyzes and essential of branding parameters. A measure of how the brand influences customer demand at the point of purchase is applied to the intangible earnings to arrive at branded earnings. This is a benchmark of the brand’s ability to secure ongoing customer demand (loyalty, repurchase, and retention) and thus sustain future earnings, translating branded earnings into net present value. This assessment is a structured way of determining the specific risk to the strength of the brand. We compare the brand against common factors of brand strength, such as market position, customer franchise, image, and support. In future branding is one of the most powerful parameter for all business growth as well as plays key role on international business management systems. Marketers engaged in branding seek to develop or align the expectations behind the brand experience, creating the impression that a brand associated with a product or service has certain qualities or characteristics that make it special or unique. A brand image may be developed by attributing a personality to or associating an "image" with a product or service. A brand is therefore one of the most valuable elements in an advertising theme. The art of creating and maintaining a brand is called brand management. This is a sponsored post about branding management systems.

HCL makes Lame efforts at Branding itself
    2007-09-10 12:25:11
I wrote about how Indian software factories (IT companies) are starting to brand themselves and I recently came across an effort by another Indian software factory HCL making a lame effort to promote their brand in an ad of all places on Aaj Tak.The ad shows a young hitchhiker hitching a ride from an investment banker on a lonely highway stretch and makes a laughable comparison of an i banker with a software engineer with the software engineer coming out on top .Now I like the way how they promote it on youtube with a dedicated brand HCL channel but the ad itself is way over the top with the ad going on to show that software engineer goes on to onsite with a personal helicopter which was way too much for me.Now it is true that most software engineers leave their jobs for doing an MBA and dream of becoming an investment banker but to show completely opposite of that is taking it a little too far from reality and if you really intend to promote the company you should have tried doing it the Google way take a look at one of the Google ads about working at Google and that's what matters.Take a look at first the HCL ad and then the Google ad

    TCS,Wipro,Infosys Start Branding themselves
    2007-08-29 04:28:57
Business Standard reports that India's software factories have finally realized the importance of branding and marketing themselves to the world.I had always been amazed at how little branding do these companies engage in compared with a Accenture or a IBM . Branding means applying a trade name to a product or service. It also refers to developing awareness of the name. You will always associate Accenture with "Go on be a Tiger" and Tiger Woods that is successful branding for Services company. Only when they are able to brand themselves can a company move up the value chain and gain higher margin on revenues.Currently, investments in branding initiatives are less than one per cent of their revenue budgets however they have doubled in recent times.Sudin Apte, senior analyst and country head, Forrester Research, says that“There is a myopic view about marketing. We believe firms need basic, fundamental marketing like segmenting, tagging, articulating the message and differentiation, sp

    Charlie Brown Branding and Memorability
    2007-06-09 00:29:57
Are you memorable? Are your prospects able to differentiate you from the masses of salespeople who  storm their gates each day? Will your prospects and clients see you in a unique light, clearly understanding the value that you offer them? It is clear that we must not only offer a distinct value, but our clients must know and remember us as we want to be remembered. We must learn to project the image that we desire others to see and know us by.  Once again, this issue falls back on the distinctiveness of our personal brand. Our brand must not only be visible above the horizon of all of your competitors, it must too have sticking power, the ability to be remembered. We must establish and maintain both a clear image of who were are and exactly what we do, and do it in a way that our prospects never forget. Next week, I have an appointment with a man named Charlie Brown. Though I have never met Charlie in person, I have spoken with him on several occasions via telephone. He i

Branding Yourself in Your Signature Line
    2007-05-30 13:03:13
Every article, every blog post, every letter or email you send includes an opportunity to further your personal brand and increase your customer awareness. Each needs to include your power-signature. This signature is far more than your name, it is a mini-commercial. It describes who you are and what you bring to the marketplace. Look at my signature below. Most bloggers don't even include their name after their post. Why? These posts are often emailed, printed and included in RSS feeds, some of which are combined with other material in a given industry feed and forwarded to places previously unimagined.  If your name and some means of contact are not there, how will anyone know who wrote that wonderful piece, allowing you to possibly benefit commercially? Again, look at my signature line below. You see my name, you discover that I am an author and see a link to my book's web site. You also have the opportunity to bookmark this article with virtually any bookmarking favorite l

Bluff-master Branding and Fuzzy Faulting (IIPM Editorial)
    2006-05-17 04:11:42
Unadulterated insight into the wacky world of bogus branding? Even as the Chinese Premier Hu Jintao finds himself on his Washington visit faced with flak for China‘s booming pirated products market, I can‘t help but think of the inherent branding concerns involved for businesses that claim to be affected by the raging propulsion of the ‘counterfeit branding‘ industry as it is termed a global phenomenon today, spanning goods ranging from handbags, watches, perfumes, shoes, shirts and miscellaneous fashion accessories on one end, to pharmaceuticals, software and even automotive components on the other! Let‘s sneak a peek into the statistics: the counterfeit brands industry worldwide is pegged somewhere near the tune of $500 billion, as surveyed by the International Chamber of Commerce, and constitutes 5–7% of international trade. The United States Department of Commerce reveals that American companies suffer more than $200 billion each year owing to the rip-off business. And these official figures are not comprehensive, by any dimension. From Louis Vuitton to Mont Blanc to Burberry to Christian Dior lavish luxury players to drug giants like Novartis and software behemoths like Microsoft the multitude of the crème de la crème that has fallen prey to the phenomenon is long and increasing. Not surprisingly, these brand owners have cried foul, demanding crackdowns on the slick runners, restricted not purely to smalltime flea market operators anymore but as is manifest today flourishing, sophisticated urban arcades harbouring platinum brands of all makes in major city centres, be it Los Angeles, Mexico City, Dubai, Shanghai, Bangkok, Delhi or Mumbai. So, the way the situation seems to present itself continuing with figures here‘s a few more to ruminate on: fake copies of a popular luxury brand cost less than anywhere from one-sixth to one-eighth of the original, and if you possess the ability and patience to drive a hard
