| Ditch The Pounds With Breakfast Or A Tummy Tuck | | 2008-06-19 23:21:00 | | Adelle Davis had it bang on when she told the world to “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.”Researcher Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz proceeded to prove Adele right by expounding on her adage at a recent San Francisco conference. She presented her studies on women who had been put on special diets for a period spanning several months. People who breakfasted lavishly were usually found to include fibre and fruit making it a very healthy course of action. Such breakfast menu also caused them to lose out on hunger pangs, naturally making them feel less inclined to eat. Quite a natural weight control method I must say. For an overweight person this could result in unsatisfactory results. This is mainly because once the diet is on track and the tummy has been taken in there will be pockets of flesh that will look bulky. At such a stage tummy tuck surgery can prove to be very handy. | | Breakfast Tips For Busy People | | 2008-06-10 22:09:38 | | When you wake up, your stomach is at its strongest, with digestive enzymes flowing. That is why breakfast is so important – skip breakfast and you will gradually weaken your stomach and your digestive function as a whole. No matter how little you eat in the morning, you should eat something. Ideally, sit down for a bowl of organic porridge. As well as waking you up gradually, this will stave off hunger pangs throughout the day. Weight loss without cutting meals While many people think they will lose weight faster by skipping breakfast, quite the reverse is true. Eating substantially less food will slow your metabolism, making it harder to for your body to burn fat. You will also be more likely to binge on sugary snacks to fight the feeling that you’re famished. A healthy breakfast, on the other hand, gives your body the ideal start, speeding up your metabolism and making it easier to drop excess weight. So, strange as it may seem, the key to losing weight is often to eat more, not | | By: Health Care Guide | | |

A compliment from the cosmos
To reverse my plea of shame

Gelatinous mind scrambled thought toast
Soaked by perceptive introvert curd

or rays of sight turned tubes
Of vermicelli tangled madness
In a sauce of love imbued
Down the flesh gutter waterslide

| | Ciba Eat Local Breakfast | | 2008-04-25 13:39:00 | | Once again the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance (CIBA) is hosting a series of three local breakfasts the first Saturdays of May, June, and July. (See the wazzuplocal calendar page for full details.) These breakfasts are delicious and nutritious and ridiculously cheap even without a coupon and best of all it's ALL locally produced, cooked and served by your friendly CIBA members, who are also probably your friends and neighbors. They are a great way to enjoy the summer weather and meet someone you know, or make a new friend if you don't know anybody. After you eat, it's just a few steps down the stairs and around the block to the Farmers' Market. You can support the local economy by buying local produce (it's fresher and better for you), also shopping at nearby locally owned businesses (look for the CIBA sticker on their window), and when it comes time to play look also to local entertainment options listed on WazzupLocal Oh, and I almost forgot! | | Breakfast Food | | 2008-04-22 23:26:59 | | Princess asked for French toast for breakfast. Three minutes later, I handed her a plate and said, “Tis is the most perfect piece of French toast ever.” She asked why, and I said, “The egg blended perfectly without sloshing out of the dish. The bread soaked it up evenly. The pan was already at the perfect temperature to fry it evenly: a bit crisp on the outside, but not all the way through. The pizza cutter sliced perfect squares. Enjoy it, because you’ll never have another piece of French toast like this one.” And she relished every bite! It really wasn’t so different from any other toast I’ve made, but the promotion made it seem special. Now she’s trying to perfect her technique and match my accomplishment. That’s fine with me -anything to get her to make her own breakfast! We had about 300 people show up to eat breakfast. We ran out of sausage and eggs 3 times! They went to 2 different grocery stores and cleaned out their sausage supply, and after that was done, we had to go to McDonald's and buy more sausage and eggs. People really ate today.Meanwhile, the ladies of the Fireman, known as "The Fire Angels" sold raffle tickets for the cute little red fire engine pedal car. I think it was so cute!Natalie helped her daddy sell T-shirts/sweatshirts and also helped hand out fire helmets and coloring books to the kids. awwwh, so cute! The fireman recently ordered new helmets, and went with a total new helmet style. | | A wedding breakfast, 1571. | | 2008-03-24 15:06:00 | | March 25 ... I don’t think I am giving you enough historic menus - in spite of a great surplus on my computer. I have plenty to spare because quite a large number in my ‘collection’ do not have an exact date, so they are no use in my book Menus from History, which has an ‘on this day’ theme. It seems a shame that these fine bills of fare should languish un-appreciated, so I will bring one out from time to time and dust it off for your interest. I confess to another motive for my generosity: I have been completely stumped by some of these menus. I am unable to authenticate a number of them, or to discover any other interesting details on an awful lot more. Perhaps you might be able to help? Today’s menu is mentioned as a curiosity under ‘Banquets’ in Larousse (at least, in my 1961 edition). The ‘bill of fare’ is the from the Nuptial Dinner of Maître Baude Cuvillon (Conseiller et Maître ordinaire de la Chambre des comptes), in 1571. The Larousse says that | | By: The Old Foodie | | |

All what I do is just wake up and eat my breakfast and while I am gone in the room somebody will clean our room and arrange our bed, what a nice life (lol). This morning, I had a waffle, bowl of fruit, an orange juice, water with lemon, a little bit of oat meal, very little scrambled egg, and some fried potatoes and it was good breakfast and I did not eat alot of potatoes since I was eating also a waffle and I did not put alot of syrup or jelly in my waffle since I do not like when it is sweet. I like eating healthy breakfast, I try to have a bowl of fruit every morning and that makes my breakfast healthy. :) | | By: My Trails In Life

With the exception of a small handful of my RL friends, most of them are just friendly voices on Ventrilo. I had the opportunity to hang out with a guildie last spring. It was an awesome time. We had been running lowbies on a new server. We had a Warrior, a Rogue, a Warlock and a Shaman that we were leveling together. All but the Warlock player live in Las Vegas. decided to spend part of his spring break with us. I went to pick him up at the airport holding a sign with his character name on it- probably not the strangest thing you'll ever see at McCarran International Airport. With the exception of a couple dinners out, we spent the entire weekend playing WoW. No casinos, no strip, no shows, no clubs- just WoW. | | McDonald's Breakfast Burrito. | | 2008-01-13 21:06:23 | | It was in the late seventies, shortly after McDonald's had introduced the Egg McMuffin, that the food giant realized the potential of a quick, drive-thru breakfast. Soon, the company had developed several breakfast selections, including the Big Breakfast with eggs, hash browns, and sausage. Eventually one out of every four breakfasts eaten on the go would be served at McDonald's - an impressive statistic indeed. The newest kid on the McBreakfast block is this morning meal in a tortilla, first offered on the menu in 1991.4 ounces breakfast sausage1 tablespoon minced white onion1/2 tablespoon minced mild green chilies (canned)4 eggs, beatensaltpepper4 8-inch flour tortillas4 slices American cheeseOn the sidesalsa1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Crumble the sausage into the pan, then add the onion. Sauté the sausage and onion for 3 to 4 minutes or until the sausage is browned.2. Add the mild green chilies and continue to sauté for 1 minute.3. Pour the beaten eggs into the pan and scramble the eggs with the sausage and vegetables. Add a dash of salt and pepper.4. Heat up the tortillas by steaming them in the microwave in moist paper towels or a tortilla steamer for 20 to 30 seconds.5. Break each slice of cheese in half and position two halves end-to-end in the middle of each tortilla.6. To make the burrito, spoon 1/4 of the egg filling onto the cheese in a tortilla. Fold one side of the tortilla over the filling, then fold up about two inches of one end. Fold over the other side of the tortilla to complete the burrito (one end should remain open). Serve hot with salsa on the side, if desired.Makes 4 burritos. | | By: cookbook n recipes

So, we got in the car, traveled to a part of Philadelphia called "Germantown", and went to a place called the "Trolley Car Diner. It was a warm and friendly place...lots of people were there and Grammy said it was like "the place that time forgot". Here is a pic of the old #23 trolley car that sits right outside the diner. It was closed because it's wintertime but, in the summertime, it serves ice cream and you can sit at the tables outside to eat it. This is a pic of the diner where we had our brunch. It sits right next to the old #23 trolley car. Because there were so many people there, we had to give our name, sit down, and wait a little while before our table was ready. Usually, I get really upset when I have to sit still and wait for anything because I like to run around and have fun but, Mommy said that I was being a really good boy today. Mommy decided that she was in the mood for breakfast so, she ordered something called "fish and grits" for us to eat. It was really good...here I am eating a piece of fish. After we ate, we went outside to say goodbye to the old #23 trolley car before heading for home. In case you haven't noticed, I really like trains, trolley cars, and just about anything that runs on a track! Grammy promised that they would take me back to the Trolley Car Diner in the summertime so we can all eat some ice cream outside. She said we might even go at night because the diner lights up and looks even better after dark. I can't wait!

| | McDonald's Breakfast Bagel Sandwiches. | | 2008-01-09 21:44:52 | | Steak & Egg BagelSauce2 tablespoons mayonnaise1 teaspoon creamy dill mustard1 teaspoon vegetable oil1 slice of white onion, quartered1 14-ounce pkg. Steak-Umm chopped steak (7 steaks)4 eggs1 teaspoon butter salt ground black pepper4 plain bagels8 slices Kraft Singles American cheese1. First prepare the sauce by combining the mayonnaise with the dill mustard in a small bowl. Set this aside until you are ready to use it.2. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Separate the onion slices and sauté in the oil until light brown.3. Heat a large skillet over medium/high heat. Break up the sandwich steak into the hot pan and cook until brown. Drain off fat. Add the grilled onions to the meat and stir.4. To make the eggs it's best to make one at a time in a small 6-inch skillet. If you have more than one of these small pans, you can save a little time.5. Beat an egg in a small bowl with a whisk until it is smooth, but not foamy. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the egg. Heat a small 6-inch skillet over low heat. Add 1/4 teaspoon of butter to the pan. When the butter has melted add the egg to the pan. Swirl the pan so that the egg spreads evenly. As the egg begins to cook, use a spatula to pull in a couple of the edges so that raw egg flows from the top onto the hot pan. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then fold over one of the edges of the egg using a spoon or fork. Fold it down about an inch. Fold the opposite end over as well. Then fold the remaining two edges over, creating a small rectangular or square mini-omelet. Flip the little omelet over and turn off the heat.6. | | Baked Family-size Banana and Walnut Pancake - An ideal weekend breakfast or brunch! | | 2008-01-06 16:27:24 | | In the everyday din and bustle of a hectic life, families hardly get time to reconnect. Weekends or holidays are the most cherished times when parents and kids are together. But what's a better way to start the day than by gathering around the table for morning breakfast, right? And here's a perfect family-sized jumbo pancake, which is actually like a cake, so that you don't have to make separate servings for everyone. Instead, just bake a large pancake for the entire family, then slice and serve so everyone enjoys it together! I use bananas and walnuts, as they are my best toppings, besides strawberries and chocolate chips:) But you are free to use any other seasonal fruits like peaches, apples, blueberries or raspberries. Just make sure you use firm fruits rather than the canned syrupy ones because you are going to pop this into the oven, not roast it on the griddle. Serve with a delicious topping of powdered sugar or whipped cream, and a large pitcher of orange juice, or freshly brewed coffee. Who says morning breakfasts can't be fun for the whole family!!Ingredients1/2 stick butter1 cup maple syrup (not pancake syrup)3-4 ripe bananas1 cup chopped walnuts1 tsp vanilla essence2 cups pancake mix (such as Bisquick)1 eggMethodPreheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in heavy 10 inch oven pan (like a cake pan) Brush sides of pan evenly with melted butter. Add maple syrup and let it cool a couple of minutes. Slice bananas evenly over the syrup and cover entire bottom of pan with bananas. Do not slice bananas too thin because they will shrink some during baking. Sprinkle a generous helping of walnuts over bananas.Mix pancake mix with egg, water and vanilla essence, as directed on the packet. Pour batter gently over bananas and spread evenly. Bake in oven about 20-25 minutes until the top browns (like a regular pancake).Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes. Place a large platter on top of the oven pan, and with one quick motion turn it upside down. Transfer the in | | By: Fun and Food | | |

Then, I changed my mind as I was thinking they have great food and good service there and besides my favorite, that they serve fresh squeezed orange juice that is what I like kind of restaurant, which serves that kind of fresh juice. Therefore, we went there at "Original German Pancake Restaurant" and it was snowing yesterday and when we arrived there to the restaurant was crowded, every time we come here it is full of people because it is popular kind of restaurant.I had a pancake with butter and syrup on top and I had also a vegetable omelet with cheddar cheese, my husband just ordered an apple pancake it was delicious too and we had a great breakfast there. | | Breakfast and Dessert | | 2007-11-27 08:00:00 | | Well, it's hard to believe Thanksgiving and all the foodiness that goes with it is over for another year! Turns out I will be also hosting Christmas this year, so only a few weeks until another turkey. I will post about my turkey later, but allow me to say that I feel my turkey has always been great, but this year I brined her and WOW! What a difference. To think how many years I've wasted thinking it was unnecessary. Unbelievable and worth every bit of effort! But look for the turkey post next week. As it stands, the mother-in-law is still here, so this will be a quickie!I used to love traditional Irish breakfast. Plump sausages, luscious slices of back bacon, black and white pudding, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and of course baked beans - delicious - and a great hangover cure! But I have gotten completely sick of it since coming back to Ireland. I would love to be able to go out for breakfast and have an option or seven other than the full Irish or Scrambled Eggs and toast. So allow me to propose the alternative Irish breakfast! No recipe really, more composition!Creamy Scrambled Eggs with Irish Smoked Salmon and Brown BreadTo assemble:Creamy Scrambled Eggs (allow 2 per person)Toasted and Buttered Brown Soda BreadOrganic Smoked Irish Salmon (Forget that Norwegian and Scottish stuff! ;-))Chopped Fresh herbs to garnishArrange the bread on a plate and top with the eggs, a slice of salmon and garnish with herbs. Easy and delicious!Now... onto dessert. I am two days late, but did try one of the Murphy Brother's Ice-cream recipes. I finally managed to find oreos in this country so had to make the Cookies and Cream. This recipe is to die for. The ice cream itself is incredibly rich and creamy. I will use this base recipe over and over as both ice-cream and creme anglaise. Truly excellent. I think it must be folding in the whipped cream that does it. Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Notre-dame, and not to forget, world’s fashion capital… The city will always continue to fascinate us...Have you ever been to Paris and wished you were not a visitor but a local Parisian? Well, wish no more. Because if you are going to visit the city (and plan to savor its sites on your own), and you felt you have had enough of hotel accommodations and would like to try something new, then the advise is - go scrap the usual hotel bookings and stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Paris. It offers a chance for us travelers to be able to live with the locals, practice French, and share a slice of their lives (and on the side get some real good advice on the best places to dine and shop). That would make the visit more meaningful and perhaps more memorable. And what’s more, availing of a Paris bed and breakfast might even translate to some savings in accommodation costs. | | | | | The FeedSmith Plugin: newly fortified as part of this delicious breakfast | | 2007-10-03 19:41:57 | | This post is a quick note from the foreman down at the FeedBurner ironworks and custom tools depot. If you're a new or longtime user of FeedBurner FeedSmith — our plugin for WordPress that helps ensure you count all of your blog's feed traffic through FeedBurner — there is a recommended security-related update to this plugin for you to download. Here are the details:
Potential security vulnerability
Some WordPress plugins that permit the entry of user-entered values, such as older versions of FeedSmith, can be vulnerable to what is called a "cross-site request forgery." Without getting overly technical, this permits someone to change WordPress plugin settings on your system without you noticing during the time you are signed into your WordPress control panel. And no one wants that.
How to protect your feed
Protect your feed by downloading FeedSmith v2.3, available; download it now. This newest release ensures that the only person who may change FeedSmith settings is the administrative account that is signed into your WordPress control panel. If you are following our WordPress QuickStart guide to get started with FeedBurner, the link to download FeedSmith provided in that QuickStart has already been updated to point to v2.3. To verify the version of the plugin you have, you can visit the "Plugins" tab within the WordPress control panel and look for FeedSmith's entry; the version number is displayed in that entry.
If you currently use FeedSmith on your WordPress-powered site, follow these instructions to update this plugin.Download version 2.3 of the plugin.Sign in to your WordPress admin control panel.Under Plugins, locate the current FeedSmith plugin, and click "Deactivate."Copy the plugin file, FeedBurner_FeedSmith_Plugin.php into your default WordPress plugin directory, wp-content/plugins/Reactivate the plugin by logging in to your WordPress administration area, clicking Plugins, then clicking Activate at the end of the "FeedBurner FeedSmith" ro | | By: digibluez blog
| | Things to do before breakfast | | 2007-10-03 11:25:00 | | I picked this up from a Gillamor and Stephens news letter, make for an interesting read. There are some who used to joke that CIO meant Career is Over. Now it could mean Chief Innovation Officer. It’s a far cry from when companies wanted CIOs with a programming or systems analyst background.Peter Hambling, CIO for Lloyds of London and Ian Campbell, CIO of British Energy both recently appeared in the Silicon.com Top 50 UK CIOs list. Here, they speak to iopener about what makes a great CIO.“The other day I had to deal with the IT logistics around organising a large charity dinner on the 12th floor of the Lloyd’s building. Then the next day, I was dealing with a new system. You need to have the ability to cope with that variety – and to enjoy and thrive on it. You cannot live in a silo. I’ve just come from an early morning meeting with the CEO, and it looks like I have 12 things do to before breakfast. That’s part of the job.”That is Hambling’s view of the variety involved in a CIO’s role. Today, in-demand CIOs must have technology insight and communicate technical things in terms that non-technical people can comprehend, understand the business, its pressure points, how technology can be applied to alleviate those pressure points, and deliver innovation and strategic advantages in the face of fierce competition. So what makes up a CIO’s DNA?Campbell, CIO of British Energy says CIOs are now organisation change agents and have to stop worrying about their technical skills and be aware of their need for new ‘business change’ skills.“As we all move to new, standardised applications, with organisations considering outsourcing to get new skills at lower costs, CIOs will need to have the business skills to be able to manage all that, setting up deals. It’s a bit Darwin-like. CIOs must change or die. It’s not about technology and IT any more, but taking up the mantra of cross-functional change across the business.”Hambling elaborates, “Flexibility is also key, plus an ability to deal with different cultures. If you’re involved with a global business, you can’t treat all the regions the same. You have to optimise what different cultures offer, and know which strategy to adopt for each one.”Stablishing critical relationships: A good working relationship with the CEO is critical, because the CIO can give the CEO an impartial opinion of how things really are within the organisation. Given the CEO’s strong security of tenure and the need to institute organisational change, the CIO is often the key executive to implement that.To accomplish change, the CIO also has to be able to work with other key executives, such as Sales, Marketing and Operations, while in bigger organisations, the CIO will work closely with the CFO.In organisations with an online presenc: e.g. financial services, the CIO’s affinity with Operations offers possibilities for promotion. A possible career path is to become CEO of the online channel, and use that as a springboard to pitch for the main CEO role when it becomes available.Understanding your opponents: If the CEO is the CIO’s prime ally, then who is his or her rival? Your main opponent on the Board is always likely to be the other biggest budget-holder in the organisation, because you’re both competing for resources,” says Campbell. “That means you have to have resilience because there is a risk of the CIO getting the blame when thing go wrong.”Hambling concurs that the CIO now has to have a business development brief. “You have to understand the company’s cost base, be integrated and optimised with the business, match technology to the business’s needs, and align those tools for the benefit of the business.”Talking to the Board:Presentation skills and the ability to argue a case are critical. And the best organisations will test that ability right from the start. “As part of the Lloyd’s selection process, I had to give a presentation to the Board on a problem that they could make a decision on. It had to be business focused, and in a language that all of the Board could understand; there was nothing to be gained from using any technical jargon,” says Hambling. Vegetable Oatmeal
1/2 cup quick cooking oats

All of the 'action' of James' novel Ulysses takes place on June 16th 1904, and the chief protagonist is Mr Leopold Bloom."Mr Leopold Bloom ate with relish the inner organs of beasts and fowls. He liked thick giblet soup, nutty gizzards, a stuffed roast heart, liverslices fried with crustcrumbs, fried hencods’ roes. Most of all he liked grilled mutton kidneys which gave to his palate a fine tang of faintly scented urine." Last year I gave you a recipe for one of Bloom's favourite dishes - fried kidney ( and I have repeated it below for the sake of completeness), so today I give you recipes for some of his other favourite dishes, so you can have yourself a Bloomsday breakfast or dinner. It is the one day a year I am a minor Royalist, in gratitude for the holiday. On this retrospecive Sunday morning imagine yourself aboard the magnificent R.M.S. Lusitania and blissfully unaware of its fate in 1915 at the hands of a German U-Boat.
